We present the results of a detailed analysis of multi-wavelength observations of a very impulsive solar flare 1B/M6.7, which occurred on 10 March, 2001 in NOAA AR 9368 (N27 W42). The observations show that the flare is very impulsive with a very hard spectrum in HXR that reveal that non-thermal emission was most dominant. On the other hand, this flare also produced a type II radio burst and coronal mass ejections (CME), which are not general characteristics for impulsive flares. In H we observed bright mass ejecta (BME) followed by dark mass ejecta (DME). Based on the consistency of the onset times and directions of BME and CME, we conclude that these two phenomena are closely associated. It is inferred that the energy build-up took place due to photospheric reconnection between emerging positive parasitic polarity and predominant negative polarity, which resulted as a consequence of flux cancellation. The shear increased to >80 due to further emergence of positive parasitic polarity causing strongly enhanced cancellation of flux. It appears that such enhanced magnetic flux cancellation in a strongly sheared region triggered the impulsive flare. 相似文献

In the present study efforts have been made to locate favourable zones for ground water targeting using IRS-USS-II data, Hydromorphogeological lineament, lineament density and ground water prospect maps have been prepared through visual interpretation of geocoded images on 1:50,000 scale and Survey of India topographical maps of the same scale. The resulting base line information has been integrated for evaluating ground water potential of mapping units. The alluvial plain, flood plain, infilled valley and deeply buried pediplain ace the prospective zones of ground water exploration and development. The angular correlation function ο(θ) of faint galaxies is affected both by non-linear gravitational evolution and by magnification bias resulting from gravitational lensing. We compute the resulting ο(θ) for different cosmological models and show how its shape and redshift evolution depend on Ω and Λ. For galaxies at redshift greater than 1 ( R magnitude fainter than about 24), magnification bias can significantly enhance or suppress ο(θ), depending on the slope of the number–magnitude relation. We show, for example, how it changes the ratio of ο(θ) for two galaxy samples with different number count slopes. 相似文献

We propose a general stochastic model for the UT1/LOD system and derive the corresponding Kalman filter model. This stochastic model consists of an arbitrary sum of continous time autoregressive moving average (ARMA) processes, each chosen to characterize a different frequency band. The transition matrix which corresponds to the overall system and the time-dependent process noise covariance matrix are derived.Based on the general formulation, several models for UT1 were derived from spectral analysis of the Space 92 UT1 series (Gross,1993). Using Space 92 as the reference series, the candidate models were compared based on their ability to predict UT1 and LOD up to 30 days in the absence of data. These candidate models were compared with the JPL operational Kalman Earth Orientation Filter (KEOF) which assumes a random walk model for LOD (Morabito et al.,1987). The results of the comparison revealed that autoregressive modeling the 40–50 day oscillation in the LOD reduces the LOD prediction error by 10prediction. 相似文献

This study reviews the Quaternary alluvial stratigraphy in three semi-arid river basins of western India i.e., lower Luni
(Rajasthan), and Mahi and Sabarmati (Gujarat alluvial plains). On the basis of OSL chronologies, it is shown that the existing
intra-valley lithostratigraphic correlations require a revision. The sand, gravel and mud facies are present during various
times in the three basins, however, the fluvial response to climate change, and the resulting facies associations, was different
in the Thar desert as compared to that at the desert margin; this makes purely lithostratigraphic correlations unviable. It
is further shown that the rivers in the Thar desert were more sensitive to climate change and had small response times and
geomorphic thresholds as compared to the desert-margin rivers. This is illustrated during the early OIS 1, when the Luni river
in the Thar desert was dynamic and showed frequent variations in fluvial styles such as gravel bedload braided streams, sand-bed
ephemeral streams and meandering streams, all followed by incision during the early Holocene. The coeval deposits in Sabarmati,
however, only show a meandering, floodplain-dominated river.
Late Quaternary alluvial deposits in these basins unconformably overlie some older deposits that lack any absolute chronology.
Based on the facies types and their associations, and the composition and architecture of the multistoried gravel sheets in
the studied sections, it is suggested that older deposits are of pre-Quaternary age. This hypothesis implies the presence

Sorption of dissolved Fe2+ on bentonite was studied using a batch technique. The distribution coefficient, Kd , was evaluated for a bentonite-iron system as a function of contact time, pH, sorbent and sorbate concentrations, and temperature. Sorption results were interpreted in terms of Freundlich's and Langmuir's equations. Thermodynamic parameters for the sorption system were determined at three temperatures: 298°, 308°, and 318°K. The values of ΔH°(-4.0 kjmol−1 ) and ΔG°(-2.46 Kjmol−1 ) at 298°K (25°C) suggest that sorption of iron on bentonite is an exothermic and a spontaneous process. The ΔG° value became less negative at higher temperatures and, therefore, less iron was sorbed at higher temperatures. The desorption studies with 0.01 M CaCl2 and deionized water at iron loading on bentonite showed that more than 90 wt% of the iron is irreversibly sorbed, probably due to the fixation of the iron by isomorphous replacement in the crystal lattice of the sorbent. 相似文献

In this study, IRS 1C WiFS data have been used for the assessment of two natural resources i.e. forest cover and snow cover. These two resources have a great role to play in various hydrological studies such as floods, soil erosion and water pollution etc. Therefore their assessment is very useful in various hydrological studies and management of these resources. The assessment of snow and forest cover have been made on the basis of multispectral classification and classification of NDVI images. Newly created Uttaranchal state has been taken as the study area. These two resources have been estimated for all the thirteen districts of the state separately. The forest cover area estimated in this study is compared with the available data sets of Forest Survey of India (FSI). The estimated forest is 52%, whereas the forest cover reported by the FSI is 44.5% of the total geographical area of the state. The snow cover is estimated for the period after winter season i.e. maximum snow cover and before next winter season i.e. minimum snow cover. It is found that one quarter of the state is under snow cover covering six districts of the state. As such no estimate of snow cover at regional scale has been made so far therefore comparison of the present assessment could not be made. 相似文献

Karakoram Himalaya(KH) has continental climatic conditions and possesses largest concentration of glaciers outside the polar regions. The melt water from these glaciers is a major contributor to the Indus river. In this study, various methods have been used to estimate the ice volume in the Karakoram Range of glaciers such as Coregistration of Optically Sensed Images and Correlation(COSI-Corr) method and Area-Volume relations. Landsat 8 satellite data has been used to generate the ice displacement, velocity and thickness map. Our study for 558 Karakoram glaciers revealed that the average ice thickness in Karakoram is 90 m. Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) survey has been conducted in one of the KH glacier i.e. Saser La glacier and the collected GPR data is used for the validation of satellite derived thickness map. GPR measured glacier thickness values are found comparable with satellite estimated values with RMSE of 4.3 m. The total ice volume of the Karakoram glaciers is estimated to be 1607±19 km3(1473±17 Gt), which is equivalent to 1473±17 km3 of water equivalent. Present study also covers the analysis of glacier surface displacement, velocity and ice thickness values with reference to glacier mean slope. 相似文献
