We study the transfer process from the scattered disk (SD) to the high-perihelion scattered disk (HPSD) (defined as the population
with perihelion distances q > 40 AU and semimajor axes a>50 AU) by means of two different models. One model (Model 1) assumes
that SD objects (SDOs) were formed closer to the Sun and driven outwards by resonant coupling with the accreting Neptune during
the stage of outward migration (Gomes 2003b, Earth, Moon, Planets 92, 29–42.). The other model (Model 2) considers the observed population of SDOs plus clones that try to compensate for observational
discovery bias (Fernández et al. 2004, Icarus , in press). We find that the Kozai mechanism (coupling between the argument of perihelion, eccentricity, and inclination),
associated with a mean motion resonance (MMR), is the main responsible for raising both the perihelion distance and the inclination
of SDOs. The highest perihelion distance for a body of our samples was found to be q = 69.2 AU. This shows that bodies can
be temporarily detached from the planetary region by dynamical interactions with the planets. This phenomenon is temporary
since the same coupling of Kozai with a MMR will at some point bring the bodies back to states of lower-q values. However,
the dynamical time scale in high-q states may be very long, up to several Gyr. For Model 1, about 10% of the bodies driven
away by Neptune get trapped into the HPSD when the resonant coupling Kozai-MMR is disrupted by Neptune’s migration. Therefore,
Model 1 also supplies a fossil HPSD, whose bodies remain in non-resonant orbits and thus stable for the age of the solar system,
in addition to the HPSD formed by temporary captures of SDOs after the giant planets reached their current orbits. We find
that about 12 – 15% of the surviving bodies of our samples are incorporated into the HPSD after about 4 – 5 Gyr, and that
a large fraction of the captures occur for up to the 1:8 MMR (a ⋍ 120 AU), although we record captures up to the 1:24 MMR
(a ≃ 260 AU). Because of the Kozai mechanism, HPSD objects have on average inclinations about 25°–50°, which are higher than
those of the classical Edgeworth–Kuiper (EK) belt or the SD. Our results suggest that Sedna belongs to a dynamically distinct
population from the HPSD, possibly being a member of the inner core of the Oort cloud. As regards to 2000 CR105 , it is marginally within the region occupied by HPSD objects in the parametric planes (q,a) and (a,i), so it is not ruled
out that it might be a member of the HPSD, though it might as well belong to the inner core. 相似文献

We present multi-instrument observations of active region (AR) 8048, made between 3 June and 5 June 1997, as part of the SOHO
Joint Observing Program 33. This AR has a sigmoid-like global shape and undergoes transient brightenings in both soft X-rays
and transition region (TR) lines. We compute a magneto-hydrostatic model of the AR magnetic field, using as boundary condition
the photospheric observations of SOHO/MDI. The computed large-scale magnetic field lines show that the large-scale sigmoid
is formed by two sets of coronal loops. Shorter loops, associated with the core of the SXT emission, coincide with the loops
observed in the hotter CDS lines. These loops reveal a gradient of temperature, from 2 MK at the top to 1 MK at the ends.
The field lines most closely matching these hot loops extend along the quasi-separatrix layers (QSLs) of the computed coronal
field. The TR brightenings observed with SOHO/CDS can also be associated with the magnetic field topology, both QSL intersections
with the photosphere, and places where separatrices issuing from bald patches (sites where field lines coming from the corona
are tangent to the photosphere) intersect the photosphere. There are, furthermore, suggestions that the element abundances
measured in the TR may depend on the type of topological structure present. Typically, the TR brightenings associated with
QSLs have coronal abundances, while those associated with BP separatrices have abundances closer to photospheric values. We
suggest that this difference is due to the location and manner in which magnetic reconnection occurs in two different topological
structures.

After one year of almost flawless operation on board the SOHO spacecraft poised at L1 Lagrange point, we report the main features
of SWAN observations. SWAN is mainly dedicated to the monitoring of the latitude distribution of the solar wind by the Lα
method. Maps of sky Lα emissions were recorded througout the year. The region of maximum emission, located in the upwind hemisphere,
deviates strongly from the pattern that could be expected from a solar wind constant with latitude. It is divided into two
lobes by a depression aligned with the solar equatorial plane called the Lyα groove already noted in 1976 Prognoz data. The
north lobe is much brighter than the south lobe. These two characteristics can be explained qualitatively by an enhanced ionization
along the neutral sheet where the slow solar wind is concentrated, which results from the higher low-latitude solar wind mass
flux as measured by Ulysses. The groove is the direct imprint on the sky of the enhanced carving by the slow solar wind, at
this time of solar minimum, when the tilt angle of the neutral sheet is small. The question is still pending to predict what
will happen with the ascending phase of the solar cycle. Observations of comets are briefly mentioned, with the ability of
SWAN to monitor the H2O production of many comets. Operations of the instrument are briefly described, including some instrumental problems which
could be solved by software modifications sent to the instrument.

The shielding effect of plasma on the electrostatic potential due to a central nucleus is studied. The potential is determined by the Poisson equation with Boltzmann factor for the charge density of ions. The aim of this work is to find approximated analytical solutions, without the usual linearization hypothesis, by means of the technique of quasifractional approximants in two points. In a previous work (Martín and Pérez, 1994) a quasifractional fractional approximation was obtained, but the coefficients were found by means of the numerical solution of the differential equation. Now we find a complete analytical expression. The approximant found is highly precise in the range of validity of the physical model used. 相似文献

The presence of matter in its different forms in a hexadimensional space-time, where gravitation is coupled to a conformal field, generates a class of cosmological solutions with very peculiar features: the initial proper distance between any two points of the space-time is infinite, following successive contraction and expansion phases in the evolution of the Universe. Abstract Dating of zircon cores and rims from granulites developed in a shear zone provides insights into the complex relationship between magmatism and metamorphism in the deep roots of arc environments. The granulites belong to the uppermost allochthonous terrane of the NW Iberian Massif, which forms part of a Cambro‐Ordovician magmatic arc developed in the peri‐Gondwanan realm. The obtained zircon ages confirm that voluminous calc‐alkaline magmatism peaked around 500 Ma and was shortly followed by granulite facies metamorphism accompanied by deformation at c. 480 Ma, giving a time framework for crustal heating, regional metamorphism, deformation and partial melting, the main processes that control the tectonothermal evolution of arc systems. Traces of this arc can be discontinuously followed in different massifs throughout the European Variscan Belt, and we propose that the uppermost allochthonous units of the NW Iberian Massif, together with the related terranes in Europe, constitute an independent and coherent terrane that drifted away from northern Gondwana prior to the Variscan collisional orogenesis. 相似文献

We report here on X-ray and IR observations of the Anomalous X-ray Pulsar (AXP) 1RXS J170849-400910. First, we report on new XMM-Newton, Swift-XRT and Chandra observations of this AXP, which confirm the intensity–hardness correlation observed in the long term X-ray monitoring of this source. These new X-ray observations show that the AXP flux is rising again, and the spectrum hardening. If the increase of the source intensity is indeed connected with the glitches and a possible bursting activity, we expect this source to enter in a bursting active phase around 2006–2007. Second, we report on deep IR observations of 1RXS J170849-400910, taken with the VLT-NACO adaptive optics, showing that there are many weak sources consistent with the AXP position. Neither star A or B, as previously proposed by different authors, might yet be conclusively recognised as the IR counterpart of 1RXS J170849-400910. Third, using Monte Carlo simulations, we re-address the calculation of the significance of the absorption line found in a phase-resolved spectrum of this source, and interpreted as a resonant scattering cyclotron feature. 相似文献

Summary TheIAU Symposium No. 61 (Perth, 1973, “New Problems in Astrometry’) makes clear that radiosources will play an important role for astrometry
in view of the linkage of reference systems.
The purposes developed later were to link the various systems from the earth and the solar system to the most inertial possible
one.
Extragalactic radiosources are the most reliable objects but they are faint. So, intermediate objects are needed. Among them
the radiostars, optical objects having radioemission at a certain level and for given frequencies have a fundamental and key
position.
Most of such radiostars are double or multiple ‘binaries’ as it can be seen from the list of reference stars issued by the
Working Group of Commission 24, Working Group created in 1978. The last issue of the core list of radiostars was presented
by Ch. de Vegt (Chairman of the WG) on the occasion of the last General Assembly of the IAU (November 1985).
A recent study of the system α Scorpii (Antares) has shown that the data concerning the magnitude and the spectral type are
not accurate enough, according to the accuracy obtained for the astrometric position (±0
.
s
003 for an astrolabe campaign in right ascension).
There is also a need for better knowledge about the orbits. In the case of the astrolabe observations, if the distance between
the components in <3″ the astrometric position concerns the photocenter and accurate physical properties are needed for comparison
with the radio position.
Better astrophysical properties are strongly needed for all radiostars to be used as references, during the time the astrometrists
have to improve the accuracy of their measurements both in optical and radio fields.
