The Rosetta spacecraft (S/C), which is planned to meet comet 46P/Wirtanen in 2011, will carry a set of five wave and plasma instruments (i.e. the Rosetta Plasma Consortium). This is to measure the cometary plasma properties from the minimum value of activity of the comet to its maximum value at perihelion. The mutual impedance probe, MIP, is one of those (Trotignon et al., 1999) five. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

We study the non-linear stability of the equilibria corresponding to the motion of a particle orbiting around a finite straight segment. The potential is a logarithmic function and may be considered as an approximation to the one generated by elongated celestial bodies. By means of the Arnold's theorem for non-definite quadratic forms we determine the orbital stability of the equilibria, for all values of the parameter k of the problem, resonant cases included.  相似文献

 In December 1995 we dredged early Miocene coral-reef carbonates and early/middle Pliocene slope carbonates outcropping on the submerged Rama Ridge. This indicates that some of the Banda Sea Ridges were present during early Miocene times. Subsequent major tectonic subsidence occurred between middle Miocene and early Pliocene times. We detect and measure diffusion along resonances in a quasi-integrable symplectic map for different values of the perturbation parameter. As in a previously studied Hamiltonian case (Lega et al., 2003) results agree with the prediction of the Nekhoroshev theorem. Moreover, for values of the perturbation parameter slightly below the critical value of the transition between Nekhoroshev and Chirikov regime we have also found a diffusion of some orbits along macroscopic portions of the phase space. Such a diffusion follows in a spectacular way the peculiar structure of resonant lines.  相似文献

High angular resolution mm-wave observations of the Orion-KL region, made with the IRAM Plateau de Bure interferometer (PdBI), reveal the presence of several cores of size 103 AU, which have distinct spectral signatures. Complex molecules such as ethanol, vinyl cyanide and dimethyl ether show different distributions and their relative abundance varies from core to core by orders of magnitude. The molecular column densities derived in the cores also differ widely from the beam-averaged column densities observed with large single-dish telescopes. Obviously, the predictions of hot core chemistry models must be checked against high resolution observations. ALMA, which allies sensitivity and high angular resolution, will be a key instrument for this type of studies. The PdBI observations were part of a search for interstellar glycine, also carried out with the IRAM 30-m telescope and the Green Bank Telescope. We derive a 3σ upper limit on the column density of glycine of 1×1015 cm−2 per 2″×3″ beam in the Orion Hot Core and Compact Ridge. Based on observations made with the IRAM PdB Interferometer, the IRAM 30-m telescope and the NRAO Green-Bank telescope. IRAM is supported by CNRS, MPG and IGN.  相似文献

We investigate the damping of longitudinal (i.e., slow or acoustic) waves in nonisothermal, hot (T≥ 5.0 MK), gravitationally stratified coronal loops. Motivated by SOHO/SUMER and Yohkoh/SXT observations, and by taking into account a range of dissipative mechanisms such as thermal conduction, compressive viscosity, radiative cooling, and heating, the nonlinear governing equations of one-dimensional hydrodynamics are solved numerically for standing-wave oscillations along a magnetic field line. A semicircular shape is chosen to represent the geometry of the coronal loop. It was found that the decay time of standing waves decreases with the increase of the initial temperature, and the periods of oscillations are affected by the different initial footpoint temperatures and loop lengths studied by the numerical experiments. In general, the period of oscillation of standing waves increases and the damping time decreases when the parameter that characterises the temperature at the apex of the loop increases for a fixed footpoint temperature and loop length. A relatively simple second-order scaling polynomial between the damping time and the parameter determining the apex temperature is found. This scaling relation is proposed to be tested observationally. Because of the lack of a larger, statistically relevant number of observational studies of the damping of longitudinal (slow) standing oscillations, it can only be concluded that the numerically predicted decay times are well within the range of values inferred from Doppler shifts observed by SUMER in hot coronal loops.  相似文献

Solar p modes are one of the dominant types of coherent signals in Doppler velocity in the solar photosphere, with periods showing a power peak at five minutes. The propagation (or leakage) of these p-mode signals into the higher solar atmosphere is one of the key drivers of oscillatory motions in the higher solar chromosphere and corona. This paper examines numerically the direct propagation of acoustic waves driven harmonically at the photosphere, into the nonmagnetic solar atmosphere. Erdélyi et al. (Astron. Astrophys. 467, 1299, 2007) investigated the acoustic response to a single point-source driver. In the follow-up work here we generalise this previous study to more structured, coherent, photospheric drivers mimicking solar global oscillations. When our atmosphere is driven with a pair of point drivers separated in space, reflection at the transition region causes cavity oscillations in the lower chromosphere, and amplification and cavity resonance of waves at the transition region generate strong surface oscillations. When driven with a widely horizontally coherent velocity signal, cavity modes are caused in the chromosphere, surface waves occur at the transition region, and fine structures are generated extending from a dynamic transition region into the lower corona, even in the absence of a magnetic field.  相似文献

The solar wind conditions at one astronomical unit (AU) can be strongly disturbed by interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs). A subset, called magnetic clouds (MCs), is formed by twisted flux ropes that transport an important amount of magnetic flux and helicity, which is released in CMEs. At 1 AU from the Sun, the magnetic structure of MCs is generally modeled by neglecting their expansion during the spacecraft crossing. However, in some cases, MCs present a significant expansion. We present here an analysis of the huge and significantly expanding MC observed by the Wind spacecraft during 9 – 10 November 2004. This MC was embedded in an ICME. After determining an approximate orientation for the flux rope using the minimum variance method, we obtain a precise orientation of the cloud axis by relating its front and rear magnetic discontinuities using a direct method. This method takes into account the conservation of the azimuthal magnetic flux between the inbound and outbound branches and is valid for a finite impact parameter (i.e., not necessarily a small distance between the spacecraft trajectory and the cloud axis). The MC is also studied using dynamic models with isotropic expansion. We have found (6.2±1.5)×1020 Mx for the axial flux and (78±18)×1020 Mx for the azimuthal flux. Moreover, using the direct method, we find that the ICME is formed by a flux rope (MC) followed by an extended coherent magnetic region. These observations are interpreted by considering the existence of a previously larger flux rope, which partially reconnected with its environment in the front. We estimate that the reconnection process started close to the Sun. These findings imply that the ejected flux rope is progressively peeled by reconnection and transformed to the observed ICME (with a remnant flux rope in the front part).  相似文献

We present OH 18-cm observations of comet Hale-Bopp (C/1995 O1) at the Nançay radio telescope. On nucleus and offset position observations allowed us to obtain both OH production rates and quenching radii. The maximum OH production rate was reached around perihelion, at about1031 s-1.  相似文献
