Summary
Silica-undersaturated phlogopite schists from the Cackleberry Metamorphics, Arunta Inlier, central Australia, preserve relatively
low-temperature sapphirine-bearing parageneses that developed during low-pressure upper amphibolite facies metamorphism. Peak
metamorphic phlogopite–cordierite–sapphirine assemblages are interpreted to have formed during the same event recorded in
nearby metapelites, at c.3 kbar and 650–700 °C. Initial cooling of the terrain resulted in the breakdown of sapphirine to corundum–chlorite–phlogopite
and corundum–spinel–chlorite assemblages. Further retrogression at greenschist facies conditions resulted in the replacement
of sapphirine by diaspore–chlorite intergrowths. The reaction textures are consistent with a near-isobaric heating-cooling
path at low-pressure, and provide evidence for the stability of sapphirine at c.700 °C at low pressures in rocks of an appropriate Mg- and Fe3+-rich bulk composition.

The powerful cosmic ray flare of Sept. 29, 1989 occurred behind the limb and was observed over a wide spectral range. The analysis of optical, radio, and other relevant data suggest two phases of energy release. After an impulsive phase a prolonged post eruption energy release occurred in an extended region of the corona following the eruption of a large coronal mass ejection (CME). The first integrals of motion of the restricted planar circular problem of three bodies are constructed as the formal power series in r1/2, r being the distance of a moving particle from the primary. It is shown that the coefficients of these series are trigonometric polynomials of an angular variable. Some particular solutions have been found in a closed form. The investigation of mineral, granulometric and chemical composition of sediments of the River Krka estuary (Yugoslavia) were performed in order to elucidate the origin of the sediments and the pattern of sedimentation. Estuarine surface sediments were found to be fine-grained with a bimodal distribution. Environmental conditions in estuarine sediments favour conservation of the organic matter (anoxic conditions). The carbohydrates in the sediments were investigated to determine whether they are of terrigenous or authigenous origin. Glucose, galactose, mannose, xylose, rhamnose, glucosamine and glucuronic acid were detected in the sediments. Their mutual relationship indicates a preferentially terrigenous source of sedimented organic material in estuarine sediments. 相似文献

Surface waters of Alsea Bay, an unpolluted estuary on the Oregon coast, were analysed for nitrous oxide, nitrate and nitrite on a weekly or biweekly basis during the summer of 1979. The estuary was found to be a variable source of N2O to the atmosphere. Large and rapid increases in the concentrations of N2O, NO3?, and NO2? occurred at the beginning of the sampling period and are attributed to the influx of nutrient-rich upwelling water into the estuary with the tide. The subsequent decline in concentrations of nitrate, nitrite and nitrous oxide over the remainder of the summer is attributed to a decrease in upwelling intensity, a decline in nitrification rates and to assimilatory nitrate reduction. Measurements of nitrous oxide at six stations along the Alsea River were also made in September and October before and after the onset of the rainy season. Samples taken after flood conditions were established were systematically 50% higher than pre-flood samples. The data suggest that soil runoff results in elevated concentrations of N2O in rivers. 相似文献

We present results of investigations into chromospheric velocity oscillations in sunspots, carried out at the Sayan Solar
Observatory. It is shown that the “chevron” structures in the space-time diagrams demonstrate wavetrain properties. Such structures
are indicators of a propagating wave process and they are typical of many sunspots. In the authors’ opinion, three-minute
umbral oscillations are not the source of running penumbral waves (RPW). It is very likely that umbral oscillations and RPW
initially propagate along different magnetic field lines. We explain the decrease in RPW propagation velocity and frequency
in the outer penumbra, as compared with the inner, by the combined action of different frequency modes. To better reveal the
properties of these modes, frequency filtering was used. Our measurements of the RPW (five-minute mode) wavelength and RPW
propagation velocity in different sunspots vary from 12″ to 30″ and from 28 to 60 – 70 km s−1 correspondingly. 相似文献
