We use continuous 156-day COROT photometric observations of the F dwarf HD 181906 to analyze temperature inhomogeneities on the stellar surface and follow their evolution. The analysis used the iPH code, which solves for the temperature inhomogeneities in a two-temperature approximation without any assumptions about the shape or number of spots on the surface. For the first time in studies of active regions and active longitudes, we find that the phases of the active longitudes on the surface of HD 181906 are concentrated close to two systems of active longitudes. In each system, the active longitudes are separated by 180°, with the shift between the systems being 100°. During the observing period, switches between the systems of active longitudes occurred quasi-periodicly on a time scale of 30–35 day about two-thirds of the time, while these switches occurred less frequently about one-third of the time. The positions of active regions switched either every 20–25 day or every 40–45 day. The periodicity of brightness and amplitude variations is of the order of 110 day. Variations in the spot coverage and changes in the active longitudes have shorter time scales (about 55–75 day). All these parameters are variable on time scales of 25–38 day. A wavelet analysis of the periodicity of the brightness variations indicates that all the above processes are quasi-periodic; activity on all time scales became less pronounced in the last third of the observing period.  相似文献

The Biomass Expansion Factor (BEF) and the Root-to-Shoot Ratio (R) are variables used to quantify carbon stock in forests. They are often considered as constant or species/area specific values in most studies. This study aimed at showing tree size and age dependence upon BEF and R and proposed equations to improve forest biomass and carbon stock. Data from 70 sample Pinus spp. grown in southern Brazil trees in different diameter classes and ages were used to demonstrate the correlation between BEF and R, and forest inventory data, such as DBH, tree height and age. Total dry biomass, carbon stock and CO2 equivalent were simulated using the IPCC default values of BEF and R, corresponding average calculated from data used in this study, as well as the values estimated by regression equations. The mean values of BEF and R calculated in this study were 1.47 and 0.17, respectively. The relationship between BEF and R and the tree measurement variables were inversely related with negative exponential behavior. Simulations indicated that use of fixed values of BEF and R, either IPCC default or current average data, may lead to unreliable estimates of carbon stock inventories and CDM projects. It was concluded that accounting for the variations in BEF and R and using regression equations to relate them to DBH, tree height and age, is fundamental in obtaining reliable estimates of forest tree biomass, carbon sink and CO2 equivalent.  相似文献

We have carried out three-dimensional hydrodynamical modeling of the formation of planets through the merging of a binary system comprised of low-mass (~0.5–1 M) stars in the stage of contracting towards the main sequence. Under certain conditions, the disruption of the more massive component results in the formation of an expanding disk and extended arm. The fragmentation of this arm leads to the formation of planetary-mass clouds (<5 M J where M J is the mass of Jupiter), whose orbits can have semimajor axes of 0.4 to 5 AU and substantial (~0.5) eccentricities.  相似文献

Dim and small target detection is one of the most challenging issues based on space-based detector. Original space-based detector only uses infrared bands, and the target information is limited in one-band image, so that detection error rate is high. In order to increase the target information, we suppose spectral imaging technology can be applied to the space-based detection system. Use bands of stronger radiation of targets than that of background as detection bands theoretically; the detection bands also can be called as the characteristic bands of targets. On these bases, the paper proposes methods of fuzzy fusion and fusion segmentation to achieve the target detection. Fusion is a combination of images from the characteristic bands, which can eliminate background, restrain noise, and enhance the target. Threshold segmentation and fuzzy algorithm assisted fusion algorithm to complete the final detection. In the simulation experiment, missile plume is considered as the detection target, atmosphere, cloud and jet plume is considered as the detection background, and the advantages of the characteristic spectrum detection and the proposed algorithm are verified from SNR, SCR, ROC curve, and time.  相似文献

The low-frequency radio spectrum of the continuum emission from the undisturbed Sun is determined for 24 days during the period 1985 May-September. It is found that the spectral index varied from + 1.6 to +3.6 during this period. It is suggested that the large positive spectral indices are due to the existence of temperature gradients in the outer corona.  相似文献

The photometric calibration of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) is a multi‐step process which involves data from three different telescopes: the 1.0‐m telescope at the US Naval Observatory (USNO), Flagstaff Station, Arizona (which was used to establish the SDSS standard star network); the SDSS 0.5‐m Photometric Telescope (PT) at the Apache Point Observatory (APO), NewMexico (which calculates nightly extinctions and calibrates secondary patch transfer fields); and the SDSS 2.5‐m telescope at APO (which obtains the imaging data for the SDSS proper). In this paper, we describe the Monitor Telescope Pipeline, MTPIPE, the software pipeline used in processing the data from the single‐CCD telescopes used in the photometric calibration of the SDSS (i.e., the USNO 1.0‐m and the PT). We also describe transformation equations that convert photometry on the USNO‐1.0m ugriz ′ system to photometry the SDSS 2.5m ugriz system and the results of various validation tests of the MTPIPE software. Further, we discuss the semi‐automated PT factory, which runs MTPIPE in the day‐to‐day standard SDSS operations at Fermilab. Finally, we discuss the use of MTPIPE in current SDSS‐related projects, including the Southern ugriz ′ Standard Star project, the ugriz ′ Open Star Clusters project, and the SDSS extension (SDSS‐II). Evaporative process plays a dominant role in determining the water chemistry of the springs at Teels Marsh, a closed basin in western Nevada. Analysis of the spring waters indicates that calcium, magnesium, sulfate, and silica are removed from solution during dry periods, even though groundwater is undersaturated with respect to gypsum, amorphous silica, and sepiolite. The removal mechanism is precipitation of authigenic phases such as gypsum above the water table, in the vadose zone.In episodes of rain and snowfall in which none of the waters enters the phreatic zone, ions in the rain and snow accumulate near the ground surface. This accumulation of material, together with the sparse rain and snowfall, inhibits chemical weathering of silicate minerals. Only at high elevations in the basin is there sufficient fluxing of water through the alluvium for silicate weathering to make a significant contribution to the sodium content of the springs. When a sufficiently heavy rainfall occurs, salts are partially dissolved and the ions transported to the permanent groundwater. The kinetics of dissolution of secondary phases in the vadose zone exert an important control on the composition of the springs.  相似文献
