TheK p-indices measured at Misallat station [ø = 29°45 N; = 30°54 E] during the period 1958–1989, have been compared with the data of two geomagnetic stations; one of them has similar longitude as Misallat and the second has almost similar latitude. The spectra of daily and hourly data of the three stations are compared together to define the latitude and longitude-effects on the detected periodicities. Daily periodicities ofK p-index activities at the values 32.7, 21.2, 12.9, 11.6 and 9.2 days have been obtained to be common in the spectra of the three stations. The existence of 5-days periodicity in these stations has also been detected.  相似文献

The Mauritius Radiotelescope (MRT) is a T-shaped array of helical antennas with a 2048 m EW arm and a 890 m South arm. The primary objective of the telescope is to produce a sky survey in the declination zone -15° to -65° with a point source sensitivity of 200 mJy and an angular resolution of 4'×4.6'cosec(z) at 151.6 MHz, z being the zenith angle . Detecting redshifted 21-cm emission from neutral hydrogen in the early Universe promises to give direct constraints on the epoch of reionization (EoR). It will, though, be very challenging to extract the cosmological signal (CS) from foregrounds and noise which are orders of magnitude larger. Fortunately, the signal has some characteristics which differentiate it from the foregrounds and noise, and we suggest that using the correct statistics may tease out signatures of reionization. We generate mock data cubes simulating the output of the Low Frequency Array (LOFAR) EoR experiment. These cubes combine realistic models for Galactic and extragalactic foregrounds and the noise with three different simulations of the CS. We fit out the foregrounds, which are smooth in the frequency direction, to produce residual images in each frequency band. We denoise these images and study the skewness of the one-point distribution in the images as a function of frequency. We find that, under sufficiently optimistic assumptions, we can recover the main features of the redshift evolution of the skewness in the 21-cm signal. We argue that some of these features – such as a dip at the onset of reionization, followed by a rise towards its later stages – may be generic, and give us a promising route to a statistical detection of reionization.  相似文献

In this paper we show that a change in the signs of some of the metric components of the solution of the field equations for the classical cosmic string results in a solution which we interpret as a time-dependent wall composed of tachyons. We show that the walls have the property of focusing the paths of particles which pass through them. As an illustration of this focusing, we demonstrate the results of a simple simulation of the interaction between one such tachyon wall and a rotating disk of point masses. This interaction leads to the temporary formation of spiral structures. These spiral structures exist for a time on the order of one galactic rotation. Seeking to establish whether active-region upflow material contributes to the slow solar wind, we examine in detail the plasma upflows from Active Region (AR) 10978, which crossed the Sun’s disc in the interval 8 to 16 December 2007 during Carrington rotation (CR) 2064. In previous work, using data from the Hinode/EUV Imaging Spectrometer, upflow velocity evolution was extensively studied as the region crossed the disc, while a linear force-free-field magnetic extrapolation was used to confirm aspects of the velocity evolution and to establish the presence of quasi-separatrix layers at the upflow source areas. The plasma properties, temperature, density, and first ionisation potential bias [FIP-bias] were measured with the spectrometer during the disc passage of the active region. Global potential-field source-surface (PFSS) models showed that AR 10978 was completely covered by the closed field of a helmet streamer that is part of the streamer belt. Therefore it is not clear how any of the upflowing AR-associated plasma could reach the source surface at 2.5 R and contribute to the slow solar wind. However, a detailed examination of solar-wind in-situ data obtained by the Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) spacecraft at the L1 point shows that increases in O7+/O6+, C6+/C5+, and Fe/O – a FIP-bias proxy – are present before the heliospheric current-sheet crossing. These increases, along with an accompanying reduction in proton velocity and an increase in density are characteristic of both AR and slow-solar-wind plasma. Finally, we describe a two-step reconnection process by which some of the upflowing plasma from the AR might reach the heliosphere.  相似文献

In the assessment of air quality, regional distribution and dispersion with distance are important, together with the variations of pollutants in time. On this occasion, the point cumulative semi-variogram (PCSV) method is used in order to find simply regional distribution of pollutants of Erzurum urban centre. This method is based simply on the summation of square differences in air pollutant concentrations between different sites. Monthly regional variation maps of Erzurum are constructed by finding radius of influence (for SO2, from 1000 m to 3500 m and, for TSP, 1000–2000 m) and PCSV scattering diagram data at different levels by using monthly average sulphur dioxide (SO2) and total suspended particulate (TSP) matter concentrations in 2001–2002 winter season. Consequently, the air pollution distribution of Erzurum is assessed.  相似文献

When a satellite orbit decaying slowly under the action of air drag experiences 15th-order resonance with the Earth's gravitational field, so that the ground track repeats after 15 rev, the orbital eccentricity may suffer appreciable changes due to perturbations from the gravitational harmonics of order 15 and even degree (16, 18, 20…). In this paper the changes in eccentricity at resonance for six satellites in near-circular orbits at inclinations between 56 and 90° have been analysed to derive 11 pairs of equations linking the harmonic coefficients of order 15 and (even) degree l, Cl,15andSl,15 in the usual notation. Under the two initial 1‐D one parameter velocity distribution forms (one is normal, the other is exponential), the z direction scale height evolution of normal neutron stars in the Galaxy is studied by numerical simulation. We do statistics for the cases at different time segments, also do statistics for the cumulative cases made of each time segment. The results show in the cumulative cases the evolution curves of the scale heights are smoother than in the each time segment, i.e., the cumulation improve the signal‐to‐noise ratio. Certainly the evolution cases are different at different Galactic disk locations, which also have very large difference from the average cases in the whole disk. In the initial stages of z evolution of normal neutron stars, after the beginning transient states, the cumulative scale heights increase linearly with time, and the cumulative scale height increasing rates have linear relationship with the initial velocity distribution parameters, which have larger fluctuation in the vicinity of the Sun than in the whole disk. We utilize the linear relationship of the cumulative scale height increasing rates vs. the initial velocity distribution parameters in the vicinity of the Sun to make comparison with the observation near the Sun. The results show if there is no magnetic decay, then the deserved initial velocity parameters are obvious lower than the present well known results from some authors; whereas if introducing magnetic decay, for the 1‐D normal case we can make consistence among concerning results using magnetic decay time values which are supported by some authors, while for the 1‐D exponential case the results show the lackness of young pulsar samples in the larger z in the vicinity of the Sun (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Abstract— For most elements, polymict ureilite EET83309 shows no significant compositional difference from other ureilites, including ordinary (“monomict”) ureilites. Polymict ureilites appear to be mixtures of a wide variety of ordinary ureilites, with little dilution by “foreign” extra-ureilitic materials. Thus, they apparently were mixed (i.e., the ureilites in general formed) on a very small number of parent bodies. In one respect, polymict ureilites do stand out. Along with the only other polymict ureilite that has been analyzed for REE (Nilpena), EET83309 has much higher concentrations of light-middle REE than most ordinary ureilites. Despite these relative enrichments in LREE, polymict ureilites are nearly devoid of basaltic (Al-rich) material. A basaltic component should have formed along with (and presumably above) the ultramafic ureilites, in any closed-system differentiation of an originally chondritic asteroid. This scarcity of complementary basaltic materials may be an important clue to ureilite origins. We suggest that ureilites originated as paracumulates (mushy, cumulate-like, partial melt residues) deep within a primordially-heated asteroid or asteroids. While still largely molten, the asteroid was severely disrupted, and most of its external basaltic portion was permanently blown away, by impact of a large, C-rich projectile. This partially-disruptive impact tended to permeate the paracumulates with C-rich, noble-gas-rich, and 16O-rich magma derived mainly from shock-melting of the projectile. After reaccumulation and cooling, the resultant mixtures of cumulus mafic silicates with essentially “foreign” C-matrix became “monomict” ureilites. Further small impacts produced polymict ureilites as components of a newly-developed, basalt-poor megaregolith. The consistently moderate pyroxene/olivine ratios of the ureilites are as expected for partial melt residues, but not for cumulate (sensu stricto) rocks. The final projectile/target mixing ratio tended to be greatest among the more magnesian and pyroxene-rich portions of the paracumulate, because these portions were lowest in density, and thus concentrated toward the upper surface of the paracumulate layer. As a result, ureilites show correlations among C, Δ17O, and silicate-core mg. This model appears to reconcile many paradoxical aspects of ureilite composition (primitive, near-chondritic, except depleted in basalt, diverse Δ17O) and petrography (igneous, cumulate-like).  相似文献
