The Dargawan gabbros intrusive into the Moli Subgroup of Bijawar Group, yielded Rb-Sr whole rock isochron age of 1967 ± 140
Ma. Based on the oldest age from overlying Lower Vindhyan (1.6Ga) and the underlying youngest basement ages (2.2 Ga), the
time range of Bijawar sedimentation may be assigned as 2.1–1.6 Ga (Paleoproterozoic). Sm-Nd Model ages (TDM), obtained, for Dargawan gabbros, is c. 2876–3145 Ma. High initial 87Sr/ 86Sr ratio of 0.70451 (higher than the contemporary mantle) and negative ɛNdi (at 1.9 Ga) value of −1.5 to − 4.5, indicate assimilation of Archaean lower crustal component by the enriched mantle source
magma at the time of gabbroic intrusion. The dolerite, from Damdama area, which is intrusive into the basement and overlying
sediments of Chandrapur Group in the central Indian craton, yielded Rb-Sr internal isochron age of 1641 ± 120 Ma. The high
initial 87Sr/86Sr ratio of 0.7098 and ɛNdi value of −3.5 to −3.7 (at 1.6 Ga) is due to contamination of the mantle source magma with the overlying sediments. These
dolerites have younger Sm-Nd Model ages (TDM) than Dargawan gabbros as c. 2462–2675 Ma, which is similar to the age of the Sambalpur granite, from which probably sediments
to this part of Chattisgarh basin are derived. Hence mixing of sediments with the Damdama dyke during its emplacement, gives
rise to high initial 87Sr/86Sr and low initial 143Nd/144 ratios for these dykes. The c. 1600 Ma age indicates minimum age of onset of the sedimentation in the Chandrapur Group of
Chattisgarh basin. Both the above mafic intrusions might have taken place in an intracratonic rift related (anorogenic) tectonic
setting. This study is the first reliable age report on the onset of sedimentation in the Chandrapur Group. The total minimum
time span of Chandrapur and Raipur Group may be 1.6 Ga to 1.0 Ga (Mesoproterozoic). The unconformably underlying Shingora
Group of rocks of Chhattisgarh Supergroup thus indicates Paleoproterozoic age (older than 1.6 Ga). Most part of the recently
classified Chattisgarh Supergroup and Bijawar-Vindhyan sequence are of Mesoproterozoic-Paleoproterozoic age and not of Neoproterozoic-Mesoproterozoic
age as considered earlier. Petrographic study of basic dykes from Damdama area (eastern margin of Chattisgarh Supergroup)
indicated presence of primary uranium mineral brannerite associated with goethite. This is the evidence of mafic intrusive
providing geotherm and helping in scavenging the uranium from the surrounding and later alterations causing remobilisation
and reconcentration of pre-existing uranium in host rocks as well as in mafic dyke itself otherwise mafic rocks are poor source
of uranium and can not have primary uranium minerals initially. It can be concluded that mafic dykes have role in uranium

The study reports the impact of migratory livestock in the buffer area of Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. The cumulative impacts
of livestock grazing, fuel wood extraction and other anthropogenic pressures on forest cover in and around camping sites have
been analyzed using satellite data and field observations. Multi-date satellite data were used to map the forest cover around
16 seasonal livestock camps. An annual loss of about 7.25 ha of forest covers during 1976–1990, 13.57 ha during 1990–1999
and 11.46 ha during 1999–2005 are recorded. A loss of 108.53 ha of forestland has been estimated during 1976–1990, about 122.16 ha
during 1990–1999 and 68.78 ha during 1999–2005. It is also observed that many of the isolated camping sites are now connected
due to loss of vegetation. Phytosociological analysis indicates that the number of seedlings and saplings in three species
of Quercus (Q. leucotrichophora, Q. floribunda and Q. semecarpifolia) as compared to mature tress is very less around cattle camping sites. The ratio of number of sapling with seedling and trees
indicates that the status of sapling is nil to very poor, an indication of loss of saplings due to either trampling or grazing. 相似文献

The physics of solar forcing of the climate and long term climate change is summarized, and the role of energetic charged
particles (including cosmic rays) on cloud formation and their effect on climate is examined. It is considered that the cosmic
ray-cloud cover hypothesis is not supported by presently available data and further investigations (during Forbush decreases
and at other times) should be analyzed to further examine the hypothesis. Another player in climate is lightning through the
production of NOx; this greenhouse gas, water vapour in the troposphere (and stratosphere) and carbon dioxide influence the global temperature
through different processes. The enhancement of aerosol concentrations and their distribution in the troposphere also affect
the climate and may result in enhanced lightning activity. Finally, the roles of atmospheric conductivity on the electrical
activity of thunderstorms and lightning discharges in relation to climate are discussed. 相似文献

The study intended to describe the alpine vegetation of a protected area of the northwestern Himalaya and identify the important
environmental variables responsible for species distribution. We placed random plots covering different habitats and altitude
to record species composition and environmental variables. Vegetation was classified using hierarchical cluster analysis and
vegetation-environment relationships were evaluated with Canonical Correspondence Analysis. Four communities, each in alpine
shrub and meadows were delineated and well justified in the ordination plots. Indicator species for the different communities
were identified. Maximum species richness and diversity were found in community IV among shrub communities and community II
among the meadows. Studied environmental variables explained 61.5% variation in shrub vegetation and 59.8% variation in meadows.
Soil variables explained higher variability (∼35%) than spatial variables (∼21%) in both shrubs and meadows. Altitude, among
the spatial variables and carbon/nitrogen ratio and nitrogen among the soil variables explained maximum variation. About 40%
variations left unexplained. Latitude and species diversity among the other variables had significant correlation with ordination
axes. Study showed that altitude and C/N ratio played a significant role in species composition. Extensive sampling efforts
and inclusion of other non-studied variables are also suggested for better understanding. 相似文献

Stress accumulated in rocks in tectonically active areas may manifest itself as electromagnetic radiation emission and temperature
variation through a process of energy transformation. Land surface temperature (LST) changes before an impending earthquake
can be detected with thermal infrared (TIR) sensors such as NOAA-AVHRR, Terra/Aqua-MODIS, etc. TIR anomalies produced by 10
recent earthquakes in Iran during the period of Jun 2002–Jun 2006 in the tectonically active belt have been studied using
pre- and post-earthquake NOAA-AVHRR datasets. Data analysis revealed a transient TIR rise in LST ranging 2–13°C in and around
epicentral areas. The thermal anomalies started developing about 1–10 days prior to the main event depending upon the magnitude
and focal depth, and disappeared after the main shock. In the case of moderate earthquakes (<6 magnitude) a dual thermal peak
instead of the single rise has been observed. This may lead us to understand that perhaps pre-event sporadic release of energy
from stressed rocks leads to a reduction in magnitude of the main shock. This TIR temperature increment prior to an impending
earthquake can be attributed to degassing from rocks under stress or to p-hole activation in the stressed rock volume and
their further recombination at the rock–air interface. A precise correlation of LST maps of Bam and Zarand with InSAR-generated
deformation maps also provides evidence that the thermal anomaly is a ground-related phenomenon, not an atmospheric one. 相似文献

Black shale type uranium deposits, though of low grade (<0.001 to 0.05% U3O8), contain large uranium resources because of their immense volume. The Neoproterozoic-Cambrian Krol-Tal Himalayan sequence
covering a cumulative area of about 1000 sq km in five different synclinal basins from Sirmour district, Himachal Pradesh
in the west to Nainital district, Uttar Pradesh in east contain such black shale horizons. The uranium mineralisation found
in black shale in the Nigalidhar syncline of Himachal Pradesh and its implication of being an indicator for search of such

Surface-level moisture transport over the Indian Ocean has been computed using NOAA/HIRS data for the years 1980, 1981 and 1984. The global relation between monthly mean surface-level humidity and precipitable water (Liu, 1986) has been applied for the computation of surface-level humidity using monthly mean satellite-derived water vapour. The monthly mean surface wind fields over the Indian ocean provided by Florida State University have been used for the surface-level moisture flux computations. Our analysis indicates net positive surface-level moisture flux divergence over the Arabian Sea and negative moisture flux divergence over the Bay of Bengal. It has also been found that evaporation over the Arabian Sea is a variable quantity and forms a significant part of the net moisture budget over the Arabian Sea. The relative contribution of cross-equatorial flux and evaporation from the Arabian Sea has been studied for all three years. 相似文献
