The optimum efficiency of the Kiel box corer (“Kastenlot”) is dependent upon certain mechanical properties of the sediments. To avoid this limitation, a new core catcher was constructed and has been tested for several years in both shallow and deep-water sediments. The essential part of this catcher is a reinforced canvas curtain which is pulled slantwise through the core before the corer is pulled out of the sediment.  相似文献

Measurements and model developments with the objective to improve the quality and resolution of estimations of anthropogenic emissions are described. Measurement results on a chassis dynamometer were used to determine VOC profiles for exhaust gas emissions of passenger cars for different vehicle and fuel types and different driving modes. Further measurements resulted in emission factors and VOC profiles for lignite burning in residential stoves. Using remote sensing techniques benzene emission factors of gas stations and the efficiency of gasoline vapour recovery systems were measured.To improve the quality and the spatial and temporal resolution of emission data, emission models were improved or modified. This was done by elaborating and applying new methods for important emission source categories (e.g., solvent use, road traffic, small combustion) as well as including new data sources in the calculation routines (e.g. emission statements, land use data, import/export indices of solvents). Simultaneously considerable progress was made improving temporal and spatial allocation functions and VOC profiles. With these improvements a large number of anthropogenic emission data sets for 14 different grid projections in Germany and Europe have been generated. An emission scenario for Germany for 2010 suggests that considering air quality directives from the EU and Germany which are in force or in pipeline, German emissions of VOC and NOx will decrease, but still exceed the national emission ceilings of the EU-NEC directive.  相似文献

Orange, ochre-coloured, light green and dark blue varieties of kyanite, ideally Al2SiO5, from Loliondo, Tanzania, have been characterised by electron microprobe analysis and polarised infrared and optical absorption spectroscopy. All colour varieties show elevated Fe contents of 0.39 to 1.31 wt.% FeO, but Ti contents only in the range of the EMP detection limit. Orange and ochre-coloured crystals have Mn contents of 0.23 and 0.06 wt.% MnO, respectively, the dark blue kyanite contains 0.28 wt.% Cr2O3, while the light green sample is nearly free from transition metal cations other than Fe. Polarised infrared spectra reveal OH defect concentrations of 3 to 17 wt.ppm H2O with structural OH defects partially replacing the OB (O2) oxygen atoms. Polarised optical absorption spectra show that the colour of all four varieties is governed by crystal field d-d transitions of trivalent cations, i.e. Fe3+ (all samples), Mn3+ (orange and ochre) and Cr3+ (blue kyanite), replacing Al in sixfold coordinated triclinic sites of the kyanite structure. Intervalence charge transfer, the prevalent colour-inducing mechanism in ‘usual’ (Cr-poor) blue kyanites, seems to play a very minor, if any, role in the present samples. Crystal field calculations in both a ‘classic’ tetragonal and in the semiempirical Superposition Model approach, accompanied by distance- and angle-least-squares refinements, indicate that Fe3+ preferably occupies the Al4 site, Cr3+ prefers the Al1 and Al2 sites, and Mn3+ predominantly enters the Al1 site. In each case specific local relaxation effects were observed according to the crystal chemical preferences of these transition metal cations. Furthermore, the high values obtained in the calculations for the interelectronic repulsion parameter Racah B correspond to a high ionic contribution to Me3+–O bonding in the kyanite structure. In the particular case of the blue sample, band positions specifically related to the high Racah B value enable this ‘unusual’ type of blue colouration of kyanite solely due to Cr3+ cations.  相似文献

The WWF-Natural Marine Reserve of Miramare (Trieste, Italy) is located in a major industrial and vacation area in the Adriatic Sea. Consequently, noise emanating from boating and shipping is an inevitable factor for local fishes. This study investigates the effects of ambient and ship noise on representatives of three vocal fish families with different hearing abilities. Ambient and ship noise were recorded, their sound pressure levels measured and played back in the lab. Auditory sensitivity was determined in Chromis chromis, Sciaena umbra and Gobius cruentatus, utilizing the auditory evoked potential recording technique. Compared to lab conditions, hearing thresholds determined during ambient noise playbacks were barely masked. Contrary, the noise emanating from a cabin-cruiser substantially reduced auditory sensitivity relative to thresholds in ambient noise. This masking effect was most pronounced in the frequency range where acoustic communication takes place. Boat noise potentially affects acoustic communication in fishes inhabiting the reserve.  相似文献

Synthetic melilites on the join Ca2MgSi2O7 (åkermanite) — Ca2FeSi2O7 (iron åkermanite) with Fe/(Fe+Mg) from 0.0 to 0.7 exhibit, at room temperature, an incommensurate phase with a rectangular modulation of a wavelength of about 19 Å in the [110] direction. Upon increase of temperature, they transform to a commensurate melilite structure at about 80° C for Fe/(Fe+Mg)=0.0 and about 250° C for Fe/(Fe+Mg)=0.6. In addition to the T(2) positions of the melilite structure filled by Si, the incommensurate phase exhibits two distinguishable T(1) sites containing the Mg and Fe2+. These two sites merge into one site during the phase transition from the incommensurate to the commensurate phase. A structural model for the incommensurate phase is based on the misfit between the tetrahedral (Mg, Fe2+)Si2O 7 4? sheets and the Ca2+ ions.  相似文献

In oriented aggregates of flake-like clay minerals the (0k0) planes tend to orient in such a way that their normals become aligned subparallel to the specimen layer. This property may be utilized to obtain enhanced (060) intensities provided that the normal of the clay layer and the primary beam intersect at an angle equal to the Bragg angle for (060). This condition may be satisfied in a Guinier camera.From the degree of orientation t(00l) of the basal planes the enhancement factor t (0k0) is calculated according to three models. For t (00l) between 5 and 50 times the intensity of random orientation the enhancement t (0k0) varies between 2 and 5.5 times.  相似文献

The Skouries porphyry Cu-Au deposit, containing an indicated reserve of 206 Mt at 0.54% Cu and 0.80 g/t Au, is hosted by at least four hypabyssal monzonite-porphyry phases. In decreasing age, they are: (1) pink monzonite, (2) main monzonite, (3) intra-mineral monzonite, and (4) late-stage porphyry. High-grade ore is directly associated with the main and intra-mineral monzonite phases. All intrusive phases are cut by late-stage monzonite dykes that are barren. The monzonites have porphyritic textures with phenocrysts of plagioclase, alkali feldspar and amphibole as well as apatite and titanite microphenocrysts in a fine-grained feldspar-dominated groundmass. Mineralized samples are affected to varying degrees by potassic alteration, ranging from weak biotite-magnetite disseminations, through cross-cutting veinlets of hydrothermal orthoclase, to zones with pervasive orthoclase flooding. The high halogen contents of the Skouries intrusions are reflected in the high Cl and F concentrations of mica phases (up to 0.19 and 2.48 wt% respectively). The presence of magmatic magnetite in all intrusive phases implies high oxygen fugacities of the parental melts. All four monzonite phases have relatively evolved compositions, as reflected by their high SiO2, low MgO and low mg#, and variable but low contents of mantle-compatible elements such as V, Ni and Co. However, their mg# suggests increasing degrees of fractionation of the parental melts with decreasing age. Their high K2O (up to 5.8 wt%) and K2O/Na2O ratios (>1), as well as their high Ce/Yb and Th/Yb ratios (>34 and >21 respectively), which are believed to have been unaffected by alteration processes, are typical of alkaline rocks of the shoshonite association. Importantly, the Skouries intrusions are characterized by very high U and Th contents (up to 18.9 ppm and 62 ppm, respectively) that are consistent with accessory thorite and rare allanite in several samples. The high initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.7082) for the Skouries intrusions suggest crustal contamination during emplacement. The use of geochemical discrimination diagrams assigns the rocks to a continental arc setting in accord with the interpretation of previous workers.  相似文献

Abstract— We have analyzed small, ballistically dispersed melt samples in the form of aerodynamically shaped spheres, dumbbells, teardrops, etc., from Wabar Crater, Saudi Arabia, and have compared these to our previous study of the more massive, black and white melt specimens. The smaller melt samples differ from the more massive melts in that they are petrographically and chemically more homogeneous, possess fewer, more diffuse schlieren and contain much less clastic detritus. These observations suggest higher peak temperatures for the smaller melt samples than for the massive black and white melts which represent Wabar's major melt-zone. Analyses of the Wabar and Nejed (paired with Wabar) meteorites permit detailed comparison of the unaltered projectile with impactor residues in the melts. Siderophile element concentrations indicate that the small glass beads commonly contain > 10% meteoritic component, compared to < 5% for the massive black and white melts. One glass bead was found to contain ~ 17% meteoritic component. Based on models for melt production during cratering, we deduce that more meteoritic material was mixed with the upper stratigraphic horizons of Wabar's melt zone than with the lower parts. Siderophile elements in all Wabar melt specimens are fractionated relative to the Wabar-Nejed meteorite and have Fe/Ni ratios up to ~ 1.8 times that of Wabar-Nejed for the most siderophile element-rich glasses. The abundance sequence of siderophiles in the melts relative to the projectile is Fe ? Co > Ni ? Ir ? As » Au. Although this sequence seems incompatible with simple vapor fractionation of either elements or oxides, we believe that a complex vapor fractionation process most likely produced the observed siderophile element abundances. Our sample suite should be representative of all materials found in and around the Wabar structure, and we conclude that substantial quantities of the projectile were lost to the atmosphere, most likely as vapor. No fractionation of lithophile elements is observed in the glasses relative to the target rocks. Although fractionation of the impactor must have occurred prior to intimate mixing of projectile and target, details of the actual fractionation mechanism(s) remain poorly understood. The results of this study indicate that caution is necessary when attempting to define impactor types and masses from compositional data for impact melts from other craters.  相似文献

The main cause for mid-period seismic ground distortions are ocean waves generated by atmospheric disturbances. These act upon the earth through different mechanisms. The microseismic wavefield can be divided into primary (T =12–18 s) and secondary (T = 6–9 s) noise. Classical theory tells that the origin of these induced ground distortions depends on the location and the intensity of the low pressure region. A considerable part of the microseismic wave field reaches the GRF-array in southern Germany with high coherency and almost constant amplitudes. Thus it is possible to locate the generating areas using frequency-wavenumber analysis. Five discrete generating areas for secondary microseisms and three generating areas for primary microseisms could be determined in the Atlantic Ocean, the Arctic Sea and the Mediterranean Sea by investigating broadband continuous recordings over four months in winter 1995/96. An essential result is the long-time constancy of the backazimuths of the coherent part of the microseismic wavefield with respect to the origin areas, independent of the location of the moving low pressure zone. Results from a triangulation using additionally broadband data from the NORSAR-array and an independent estimation of the distance of the source region with water wave dispersion data indicate an origin of the secondary microseismic wavefield near the north-Norwegian coast for the strongest source. The array analysis of a temporary network of ten three-component broadband stations in south-east Germany shows that the ratio of energy between coherent Love and Rayleigh waves is much higher for the primary than for the secondary microseismic noise wavefield. This indicates differences in the source mechanisms.  相似文献
