In the framework of the commemorations for the First World War, a research project has been carried on in order to identify, archive and disseminate the places involved by the war along the Italian front. A task of this project foresaw the analysis of the terminological component of toponyms. All the occurrences of place names has been collected, evaluated and organised in order to fulfill the task of associate univocally one place name to a set of geographic coordinates, thus creating a specific geodatabase. Lexical, formal, linguistic and dialectal variants, homonyms, exonyms and even errors, once processed, lead to an unambiguous perspective on the use of toponyms during the war and their subsequent variations over the years.  相似文献

Recent accidents in underground structures have raised the risk awareness of the geotechnical engineering community. Geotechnical design is subject to significant uncertainties in load and strength parameters as well as in engineering models. However, engineering models which objectively address such uncertainties in design are still scarce. This paper presents an objective framework for the quantification of the risks involved in underground structures excavated in fractured rock masses, where structural failures may occur due to block falls. The framework considers the structure as a distributed system, where falling block probabilities are integrated over the main structural dimension. Random block size and geometry, arising from random joint orientation, are taken into account, as well as uncertainties in joint strength and geometrical parameters. A cost function is used to quantify failure consequences in terms of the block size. The framework is demonstrated in an application to a case study involving a real structure: the Paulo Afonso IV power station cavern. Results of the case study show that the studied cavern presents high reliability and very low risk. The framework proposed herein is shown to be a practical tool for the risk evaluation of underground structures constructed in rock masses, such as caverns and tunnels.  相似文献

Late Mesozoic volcanism is widespread throughout NE China. On the basis of lithological associations and spatial relationships, the volcanic rocks in the Lesser Hinggan Range can be divided into two formations, i.e., felsic-dominant Fuminghe Formation and overlying mafic-dominant Ganhe Formation. The Dong'an gold deposit, a typical adularia–sericite epithermal system, is spatially closely associated with rhyolitic porphyry, which is a subvolcanic intrusion of the Fuminghe Formation. Total measured, indicated, and inferred resources for the Dong'an deposit are 70 tonnes (2.25 Moz) of gold with the grade of 5.04 g/t Au, making it one of the largest epithermal gold deposits in China.SHRIMP U–Pb zircon and 40Ar/39Ar geochronology applied to one rhyolitic porphyry sample and sericite separated from auriferous quartz veins of the main mineralization stage were carried out to constrain magmatic and hydrothermal events. The results suggest that the mineralization age of 107.2 ± 0.6 Ma overlaps with the age of the rhyolitic porphyry 108.1 ± 2.4 Ma. Our new age data indicate that there was a previously unrecognized mineralization event in NE China at 107–108 Ma.Systematic geochemical investigations on the volcanic rocks in the Lesser Hinggan Range show that both Fuminghe and Ganhe Formations are characterized by significant large ion lithophile elements (LILE) and light rare earth elements (LREE) enrichment coupled with high field strength elements (HFSE) depletion, but they have distinct Sr and Nd isotopic compositions. The Fuminghe Formation has relative high 87Sr/86Sr ratios of 0.707253 to 0.707373, and negative εNd(t) values of ?2.78 to ?3.05 (t = 108 Ma), whereas the Ganhe Formation displays slightly lower 87Sr/86Sr range of 0.705434–0.705763 and positive εNd(t) values of + 0.76 to +1.83. These geochemical data suggest that the rhyolitic magmas of the Fuminghe Formation probably represent the final differentiates of parental andesitic magmas, resulted from the partial melting of mafic lower crust, whereas the volcanic rocks of the Ganhe Formation were produced by fractionation of basaltic magmas generated from partial melting of a mixture of an incompatible element depleted anhydrous lherzolite asthenospheric mantle source and a hydrous enriched lithospheric mantle source in an extensional tectonic setting, in response to upwelling of asthenospheric mantle. The rhyolite porphyries of the Fuminghe Formation are inferred to have supplied heat that drove the convective hydrothermal system at Dong'an deposit, but also provided some of the fluid sources responsible for the development of the Dong'an epithermal system.  相似文献

We discuss an electromagnetic sampling calorimeter for the detection of very high energy gamma-rays on the Moon, which is based on the use of scintillating cylinders and plates imbedded in the lunar soil. The use of lunar soil as a calorimeter radiator reduces the weight of the material to be transported to the Moon and minimises environmental impact. Plastic scintillator bars inserted into the regolith about 1.5 m are the active elements of this instrument: at the surface, each bar is terminated by a plastic scintillator plate to veto high energy charge particles. The readout system for the scintillator bars and plates are based on recently developed single photon solid state detectors (Silicon Photomultiplier, SiPM), extremely compact, sturdy and sensitive devices suited for detecting small light pulses in a space experiment. The performance of a regolith-scintillator calorimeter is evaluated and the relevant parameters are optimised using a GEANT4 simulation.  相似文献

The Fenes Nappe belongs to the stack of tectonic units cropping out in the southern Apuseni Mts (Romania). It is characterised by a structural history consisting of two folding phases that developed during the time spanning from Early Aptian to Late Maastrichtian. The D1 phase produced west-northwest-verging, isoclinal to very tight folds, associated to a slaty cleavage. The main metamorphic imprint of the Fenes Nappe is linked to this deformation phase; illite and chlorite ‘crystallinity’ values indicate metamorphic conditions of the late diagenesis, close to the diagenetic zone/anchizone boundary. The subsequent D2 phase produced north-northwest-verging, parallel folds, not associated with synkinematic recrystallisation. These phases are interpreted as developed during a structural path, which includes burial at a depth of 8–10 km, followed by exhumation at shallower structural levels. To cite this article: A. Most of the extension fractures located in the Ethiopian rift are related to rift dynamics, and they have consistently similar orientations for hundreds of kilometers. The orientation of extension fracture gives the local extension direction which is perpendicular to its horns (end segments of an extension fracture). We have established clear geometrical relationships between tectonics and volcanism in the Main Ethiopian Rift by interpreting high-resolution images obtained from Landsat-TM and SPOT satellites and by quantitatively analyzing the geometry of extension fractures, elongated vents and linear volcanic clusters. Applying the relationships obtained, we show that extension fractures in the rift served as channels for magma rising to the surface, and that extension fractures underlie most of the elongated volcanic vents and linear volcanic clusters. The geometry of extension fractures beneath volcanic edifices can be deduced from the shape of elongated vents and pattern of linear volcanic clusters rooted on them. Utilizing the orientations of extension fractures directly observed and those inferred from elongated volcanic vents and linear clusters, we found that the extension direction of the Main Ethiopian Rift is northwest–southeast and that the direction has been rotated clockwise for about 20° in the time interval 2.83 to 0.023 Ma. The Recent axis of rift opening is oriented N40° and located closer to the southeastern escarpment giving an asymmetric geometry to the Main Ethiopian Rift (MER).  相似文献

Tongkeng-Changpo is the largest tin deposit within the giant Dachang polymetallic tin ore field in Guangxi, southern China, which is part of a large skarn system associated with Cretaceous granitoids. The Tongkeng-Changpo mineralization consists of veins and stockworks in the upper levels and replacement stratiform orebodies (mantos) at lower levels. Based on textural relationships, three major mineralizing stages can be recognized: stage I with cassiterite, sulphides, stannite, tourmaline, and quartz; stage II with cassiterite, sulphides, sulphosalts, quartz, and calcite; and stage III with calcite as the main phase. The study of fluid inclusions has shown that there are two main fluid types: CO2 and NaCl-H2O. Homogenization temperatures are 270 to 365°C, 210 to 240°C, and 140 to 190°C for stages I, II, and III, respectively. Salinities range from 1 to 7 wt.% NaCl equiv. in the early ore stage and 3 to 10 wt.% NaCl equiv. in the late stages. Laser Raman Spectroscopy indicates that the inclusion fluids in stages I and II were of carbono-aqueous composition, with minor amounts of CH4 and H2S, whereas those in stage III were aqueous. Helium isotopic analyses of inclusion fluids indicate that the 3He/4He ratios in the ore veins are in between 1.2 to 2.9 Ra (Ra = 1.4 × 10−6, modern atmospheric ratio), and range from 1.6 to 2.5 Ra in the stratiform orebodies. This range of 3He/4He ratios is significantly higher than that of crustal fluids (0.01–0.05 Ra). The similar characteristics of fluid inclusions and their He isotopic composition, as well as age constraints, indicate that the ore veins and stratiform orebodies of the Tongkeng-Changpo deposit formed from the same hydrothermal system, likely related to granite intrusions of the Mesozoic Yanshanian tectono-thermal event. In addition, the high R/Ra ratios indicate a mantle contribution in the ore fluids.  相似文献

Based on the new data of isotopic ages and geochemical analyses, three types of Mesozoic granites have been identified for the Xiong'ershan-Waifangshan region in western Henan Province: high-Ba-SrⅠ-type granite emplaced in the early stage (~160 Ma),Ⅰ-type granite in the middle stage (~130 Ma) and anorogenic A-type granite in the late stage (~115 Ma). Geochemical characteristics of the high-Ba-SrⅠ-type granite suggest that it may have been generated from the thickened lower crust by partial melting with primary residues of amphibole and garnet. Gradual increase of negative Eu anomaly and Sr content variations reflect progressive shallowing of the source regions of these granites from the early to late stage. New 40Ar/39Ar plateau ages of the early-stage Wuzhangshan granite (156.0±1.1 Ma, amphibole) and middle-stage Heyu granite (131.8±0.7 Ma, biotite) are indistinguishable from their SHRIMP U-Pb ages previous published, indicating a rapid uplift and erosion in this region. The representative anorogenic A-type granite, Taishanmiao pluton, was emplaced at~115 Ma. The evolution of the granites in this region reveals a tectonic regime change from post-collisional to anorogenic between~160 Ma and~115 Ma. The genesis of the early- and middle-stageⅠ-type granites could be linked to delamination of subducted lithosphere of the Qiniing orogenic belt, while the late-stage A-type granites represent the onset of extension and the end of orogenic process. In fact, along the Qiniing -Dabie-Sulu belt, the Mesozoic granitoids in western Henan, Dabieshan and Jiaodong regions are comparable on the basis of these temporal evolutionary stages and their initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios, which may suggest a similar geodynamic process related to the collision between the North China and Yangtze cratons.  相似文献

Ensembles of 1-year-long experiments with a relatively high-resolution ECMWF model were conducted in order to investigate the impact of modified land surface properties on local, regional and large-scale atmospheric circulations. The modifications consisted of changes to land cover and increased albedo over the northern part of South America. In many respects the experimental design resembles the setting of classical deforestation experiments. The local model response to imposed modifications, which includes a reduction in precipitation as well as in evaporation and an increase in surface temperature, was found to be stronger in dry (July–September, JAS) than in wet (January–March, JFM) season, and in the ensemble with higher albedo value. Local drying is discussed in terms of locally generated overturning that resembles a direct thermal circulation. The effects of this circulation seem to be dominant over the reduction in large-scale moisture supply from the adjacent ocean. On large scales, changes to the Pacific branch of the Walker circulation lead, through modified divergent flow, to a tropics-wide impact on precipitation. In addition to South America, the largest changes are seen in the south Pacific convergence zone in JFM, while the impact on the Atlantic inter-tropical convergence zone is stronger in JAS. In the extratropics, there is little change in precipitation. In the upper troposphere, a distinctive teleconnection wave-pattern could be seen in the Pacific/North American region during JFM. A notable feature in the upper-air model response in JAS is a wave train extending from South America, over the northern Atlantic into Europe. With regard to the interaction between the land surface response and model systematic errors, our results suggest that the erroneous shift of the downward branch of the Pacific/South American Walker circulation is likely to be a cause, rather than a consequence, of the rainfall deficit over South America in the model climatology.  相似文献
