This paper presents a hybrid system for automatic detection and McIntosh-based classification of sunspot groups on SOHO/MDI
white-light images using active-region data extracted from SOHO/MDI magnetogram images. After sunspots are detected from MDI
white-light images they are grouped/clustered using MDI magnetogram images. By integrating image-processing and neural network
techniques, detected sunspot regions are classified automatically according to the McIntosh classification system. Our results
show that the automated grouping and classification of sunspots is possible with a high success rate when compared to the
existing manually created catalogues. In addition, our system can detect and classify sunspot groups in their early stages,

We report the near-infrared (near-IR) identification of the likely counterpart to X1908+075, a highly absorbed Galactic X-ray source recently suspected to belong to the rare class of OB supergiant–neutron star binary systems. Our JHKs -band imaging of the field reveals the existence within the X-ray error boxes of a near-IR source consistent with an early-type star lying at d ∼ 7 kpc and suffering AV ∼ 16 mag of extinction, the latter value being in good agreement with the hydrogen column density derived from modelling of the X-ray spectrum. Our follow-up, near-IR spectroscopic observations confirm the nature of this candidate and lead to a late O-type supergiant classification, thereby supporting the identification of a new Galactic OB-supergiant X-ray binary. 相似文献

Three-color photoelectric UBV light curves of the close binary system V448 Cyg obtained at the Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory are analyzed using a new code by Djurasevi. A new value for the ratio of the masses of the components, which is the fundamental parameter for determining the absolute elements of the system, has recently been published. The parameters obtained in our analysis differ substantially from those published previously because the new mass ratio has been employed. In the last few years, deuterium has been the focus of a high level of laboratory activity that was sparked by a disagreement
on the experimental value of the maximum compression along the Hugoniot.
Astrophysically, the uncertainty in the EOS of hydrogen is most consequential in models of the interiors of Jupiter and Saturn
since a significant fraction of their mass falls in the region where the EOS uncertainty is largest. We present a study of
the range of interior structures allowed by the shock-compression experiments on deuterium and constrained by astrophysical
observations of the two planets. We find that the EOS uncertainty must be reduced to less than 3% along the planet’s isentrope
to get good interior models of Jupiter.
These models provide values for the mass of a core of heavy elements (other than H and He) and the total mass of heavy elements
in these planets. The amount and distribution of heavy elements are quite sensitive to the EOS of hydrogen and constitute

Alkali carbonates nyerereite, ideally Na2Ca(CO3)2 and gregoryite, ideally Na2CO3, are the major minerals in natrocarbonatite lavas from Oldoinyo Lengai volcano, northern Tanzania. They occur as pheno- and microphenocrysts in groundmass consisting of fluorite and sylvite; nyerereite typically forms prismatic crystals and gregoryite occurs as round, oval crystals. Both minerals are characterized by relatively high contents of various minor elements. Raman spectroscopy data indicate the presence of sulfur and phosphorous as (SO4)2− and (PO4)3− groups. Microprobe analyses show variable composition of both nyerereite and gregoryite. Nyerereite contains 6.1–8.7 wt % K2O, with subordinate amounts of SrO (1.7–3.3 wt %), BaO (0.3–1.6 wt %), SO3 (0.8–1.5 wt %), P2O5 (0.2–0.8 wt %) and Cl (0.1–0.35 wt %). Gregoryite contains 5.0–11.9 wt % CaO, 3.4–5.8 wt % SO3, 1.3–4.6 wt % P2O5, 0.6–1.0 wt % SrO, 0.1–0.6 wt % BaO and 0.3–0.7 wt % Cl. The content of F is below detection limits in nyerereite and gregoryite. Laser ablation ICP-MS analyses show that REE, Mn, Mg, Rb and Li are typical trace elements in these minerals. Nyerereite is enriched in REE (up to 1080 ppm) and Rb (up to 140 ppm), while gregoryite contains more Mg (up to 367 ppm) and Li (up to 241 ppm) as compared with nyerereite. 相似文献

Coral reefs are deteriorating worldwide due to various stresses, including pollution of hazardous chemicals such as antifouling chemicals. Occurrence and impacts of a new antifouling biocide Irgarol-1051 (2-methylthio-4-tert- butylamino -6-cyclopropylamino -s-triazine) have been studied in coral reef waters around Okinawa Islands, Japan. The average concentration of Irgarol detected at commercial and fisheries Ports was 24.70 ± 9.88 ng/L. In Naha Bay, the average concentration of Irgarol was 10.00±12.98 ng/L. The average level detected around the Ports has already approaches the environmental risk limit for the marine organisms. Irgarol was detected in waters at the frequency of 92.3 % (24/26) of the total samples collected during two sampling campaigns (September and December, 2007) at the Ports. In Naha Bay, Irgarol was detected by 40.5 % (17/42) of the total water samples collected monthly from Sep., 2007 to Feb., 2008, indicating that Irgarol is widely detected along the coastal shorelines of Okinawa Island. The eco- toxicological study revealed that the rate of photosynthesis in the coral Galaxea fascicularis was significantly reduced by 18 % and 121 % relative to control when the corals were exposed to 1000 and 10,000 ng/L of Irgarol, respectively. The calcification rate dropped by 98.3 % relative to control when the corals were exposed to 10,000 ng/L of Irgarol. The results of the present study report the wide occurrence of new antifouling biocide Irgarol around coastal areas of Okinawa Island. However, the contamination does not pose serious threat on the photosynthesis and calcification of corals under short term exposure (96 h). 相似文献

The differential equations which describe the equatorial motion of a particle in a magnetic-binary system are regularized by a transformation of the dependent and independent variables. The new equations of motion, which are simpler than the original ones, with only linear velocity and acceleration terms occurring, show the invariant form of the law of motion.
