Complex studies were carried out to recognize the fen structure and peat properties in the Ca?owanie Fen area, belonging to the Natura 2000 network. The studies were conducted in two study areas that differ significantly in terms of peat thickness. Electrical resistivity imaging (ERI) was used to identify the properties of the peat and its substrate, such as thickness and electrical resistivity. Comparison of the field studies with the laboratory tests has shown that the ash content rises electrical resistivity in peat. In addition, the study has shown that the application of non-invasive geophysical methods in protected areas is justified. The fen, as a medium containing mostly water, was a proper test area for the ERI measurements. 相似文献

This paper presents an adapted anion exchange column chemistry protocol which allowed separation of high-purity fractions of Cu and Zn from geological materials. Isobaric and non-spectral interferences were virtually eliminated for consequent multiple-collector ICP-MS analysis of the isotopic composition of these metals. The procedure achieved ∼ 100% recoveries, thus ensuring the absence of column-induced isotopic fractionation. By employing these techniques, we report isotopic analyses for Cu and Zn from five geological reference materials: BCR-027 blende ore (BCR), δ65 Cu = 0.52 ± 0.15‰ (n = 10) and δ66 Zn = 0.33 ± 0.07‰ (n = 8); BCR-030 calcined calamine ore (BCR), δ66 Zn = -0.06 ± 0.09‰ (n = 8); BCR-1 basalt (USGS), δ66 Zn = 0.29 ± 0.12‰ (n = 8); NOD-P-1 manganese nodule (USGS), δ65 Cu = 0.46 ± 0.08‰ (n = 10) and δ66 Zn = 0.78 ± 0.09‰ (n = 9); SU-1 Cu-Co ore (CCRMP), δ65 Cu = -0.018 ± 0.08‰ (n = 10) and δ66 Zn = 0.13 ± 0.17‰ (n = 6). All uncertainties are ± 2s; copper isotope ratios are reported relative to NIST SRM-976, and zinc isotope ratios relative to the Lyon-group Johnson Matthey metal (batch 3-0749 L) solution, JMC Zn. These values agree well with the limited data previously published, and with results reported for similar natural sample types. Samples were measured using a GVi IsoProbe MC-ICP-MS, based at the Natural History Museum, London. Long-term measurement reproducibility has been assessed by repeat analyses of both single element and complex matrix samples, and was commonly better than ± 0.07‰ for both δ66 Zn and δ65 Cu. 相似文献

Lake Ladoga hosts preglacial sediments, although the Eurasian ice sheet overrode the area during the LGM. These sediments were first discovered by a seismic survey and are investigated using a 22.75‐m‐long core. Its upper 13.30 m comprise Holocene and Lateglacial sediments separated from the lower 11.45 m of preglacial sediments by a hiatus. They consist of highly terrigenous lacustrine sediments, which according to OSL dating, were deposited during an early stage of the last ice age (MIS 5). The palynological data allow a first reconstruction of the Early Weichselian environmental history for northwestern Russia. Birch and alder forests with broad‐leaved taxa dominated during MIS 5d (c. 118–113 ka), suggesting a climate more favourable than in the Holocene. A high content of well‐sorted sands and poorly preserved palynomorphs indicates a shallow‐water environment at least temporarily. More fine‐grained sediments and better preserved organic remains suggest deeper water environments at the core location during MIS 5c (c. 113–88 ka). Pine and spruce became dominant, while broad‐leaved taxa started to disappear, especially after c. 90 ka, pointing to a gradual climate cooling. An increase in open herb‐dominated habitats at the beginning of MIS 5b (c. 88–86 ka) reflects a colder and dryer climate. However, later (c. 86–82 ka) pine and spruce again became more common. Birch and alder forests dominated in the area c. 82–80 ka (beginning of MIS 5a). Although open treeless habitats also became more common at this time, a slight increase in hazel may point to somewhat warmer climate conditions coinciding with the beginning of MIS 5a. The studied sediments also contain numerous remains of freshwater algae and cysts of marine and brackish‐water dinoflagellates and acritarchs documenting that the present lake basin was part of a brackish‐water basin during the Early Weichselian, probably as a gulf of the Pre‐Baltic Sea. 相似文献

Abstract– Reduced CV3 chondrites are relatively pristine rocks and prime candidates for studies exploring processes that predated planet formation. We closely examined the petrographic features and trace elemental composition of different CV3 constituents in the accretionary breccia Leoville. The petrographic results are presented here. Our sample (2.2 cm2) is not brecciated. The main ingredient—about 65 area%—is fine‐ to coarse‐grained ferromagnesian type I chondrules. Minor constituents (in order of 2‐D abundance) include refractory inclusions, Al‐rich chondrules, and very fine‐crystalline clasts of moderately volatile composition. Type II chondrules and metal nuggets occur sporadically. The chondrule–matrix ratio is approximately 3:1. Medium‐ and coarse‐grained chondrules exhibit porphyritic textures, probably caused by incomplete melting, and frequent, partial or continuous, recrystallized dust rims. The fine‐grained population most likely represents randomly sectioned dust rims. The rim material and some of the medium‐grained objects are relatively troilite‐rich. Iron‐nickel metal is rare. In addition, almost all constituents show strikingly ragged or convoluted outlines. Only a few, rim‐less components exhibit smooth contours. Evidence for incomplete melting and the formation of recrystallized or igneous rims in carbonaceous chondrites is well established, suggesting that both processes were widespread events. The observed features in Leoville support this conclusion. In addition, our findings indicate that surface abrasion in a turbulent dust‐filled regime may have taken place after the consolidation of dust rims. Alternatively, the irregular, convoluted nature of at least the rimmed chondrules may have been inherent to the dust accretion event and was not erased by subsequent heating. 相似文献

Permian granulites associated with noritic intrusions and websterites are a common feature of the post-Variscan European crust.
Such granulites are common in the Southern Alps (e.g. Ivrea Zone), but occur only in the Gruf Complex in the Central Alps.
To understand the geotectonic significance of these granulites, in particular in the context of Alpine migmatisation, zircons
from 15 high-grade samples have been U–Pb dated by SHRIMP II analysis. Oscillatory zoned zircons from charnockite sheets,
interpreted as melts generated through granulite facies fluid-absent biotite melting at 920–940°C, yield ages of 282–260 Ma.
Some of these zircons contain inclusions of opx, unequivocally attributable to the granulite facies, thus confirming a Permian
age for the charnockites and associated granulites. Two samples from an enclave-rich orthogneiss sheet yield Cambrian and
Ordovician zircon cores. Two deformed leucogranites and six ortho- and augengneisses, which compose two-thirds of the Gruf
Complex, give zircon ages of 290–260 Ma. Most zircons have milky rims with ages of 34–29 Ma. These rims date the Alpine amphibolite
facies migmatisation, an interpretation confirmed by directly dating a leucosome pocket from upper amphibolite facies metapelites.
The Gruf charnockites associated with metre-scale schlieren and boudins of opx–sapphirine–garnet–granulites, websterites and
gabbronorites can thus be identified as part of the post-Variscan European lower crust. A geotectonic reconstruction reveals
that this piece of lower crust stranded in the (European) North upon rifting of the Neotethys, such contrasting the widespread
granulite units in the Southern Alps. Emplacement of the Gruf lower crust into its present-day position occurred during migmatisation
and formation of the Bergell Pluton in the aftermath of the breakoff of the European slab. 相似文献

Five distinct paragenetic, morphological and compositional types of grossular garnet (G1, G2, G3, G4, G5) were distinguished within the individual (sub)units of the zoned leucotonalitic pegmatite cutting serpentinized lherzolite with rodingite dikes at ??ár near Ruda nad Moravou, Staré Město Unit, Northern Moravia. Detailed study using Electron Microprobe Analysis, Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry, Cathodoluminiscence and Infrared Spectroscopy revealed distinct compositional trends in major, minor and trace elements. The contents of Fe3+, Mn, Mg and Ti increase from early garnet (G1) in the outermost grossular subunit through the interstitial garnet (G2) in the leucocratic subunit to graphic intergrowths of quartz+garnet (G3) in the coarse-grained unit. Then these constituents decrease in inclusions of garnet (G4) from the blocky unit and large crystals of garnet (G5) from the quartz core. Some trace elements (V, Ni, Y) exhibit the same trends, only Be evidently increases in garnet from border zone to the centre. Fluorine has negative correlation with Fe3+ as well as some trace elements (Ta, Pb). Concentrations of H2O in garnets, up to 0.22 wt.% H2O, are comparable with spessartine-almandine garnets from the Rutherford No. 2 pegmatite, Virginia, and grossular garnets from high-temperature calc-silicate rocks (skarns). Water contents correlate positively with Fe3+, but inversely with F. The use of water contents in garnet to elucidate the fluctuations of activity of H2O during the pegmatite formation is only limited; the incorporation of hydrous defects seems to be controlled instead by crystal-structural constraints. However, the sum of all volatile components (H2O + F) increases about twice from the outermost subunit to the centre of the pegmatite body. 相似文献

This paper presents a palaeoenvironmental reconstruction of the Wilczków fen (central Poland). The fen developed in an inactive valley at the onset of the Holocene (~11 ka BP) and peat accumulation lasted until 5.7 ka BP. Multi‐proxy reconstructions were made on the basis of palaeobotanical, cladoceran, chironomid, beetle and geochemical analyses. A Kohonen self‐organizing map (SOM, unsupervised artificial neural network) of the biotic sequence distinguished four stages of fen history. Stage X1 (11.0–10.7 ka BP) was relatively wet and cool. Organic matter started to accumulate but the habitat conditions remained unstable. Moss, sedge and fern communities then developed. Sedimentary changes reveal an intensive groundwater supply at that time. Numerous and diverse chironomid and cladoceran subfossils indicate nearly permanent aquatic conditions. During stage Y1 (10.6–9.2 ka BP) conditions were dry and the upper peat layer desiccated. Cladocera nearly disappeared whereas chironomids were represented by semi‐terrestrial and predatory (Tanypodinae) species. Conditions started to be more reducing. All the remaining samples belonged to the interweaving stages X2 and Y2. Stage Y2 (mostly 9.1–7.3 and 6.0–5.7 ka BP) was also dry but humidity increased towards the top. Oxidizing conditions occurred and the pH became more alkaline, favouring Cladium mariscus. The basin received mostly allochthonous matter input at that time. Stage X2 (mostly 6.8–6.1 ka BP) was humid and warm. The groundwater supply remained low but there was an increase in precipitation, changing local conditions to ombrotrophic. Species‐rich chironomid and cladoceran communities were associated with temporary pools. Finally, conditions returned to those characteristic of stage Y2. The presented reconstruction documents long‐term abiotic and biotic changes determined by water supply, including groundwater outflow, which have rarely been detected at a multi‐proxy scale. We show that inactivated valley fens are sensitive to climate‐driven hydrological fluctuations. Kohonen neural networks appear to be a promising method for analysing variability in multi‐proxy data. 相似文献

Landslides located beside reservoirs tend to be unstable or are characterized by large deformation during the drawdown process.
This has been accepted by many experts. In this paper, we use Qiaotou Landslide, which is located beside the Three Gorges
Reservoir (TGR), as a typical case study to investigate and predict the deformation mechanism during the drawdown process
of TGR in detail. According to field investigation, the landslide mass is mainly composed of thick, loose silt and clay mixed
with fragments of rock. Bedrock is mainly composed of silty sandstone. Field and laboratory tests indicate that the landslide
mass has a high permeability coefficient. If the water level declines fast, intense seepage force may result. Based on these
data, we establish a three-dimensional geological model of Qiaotou Landslide by FLAC3D and perform a numerical simulation using the saturated–unsaturated fluid–solid coupling theory. For the simulation, we assume
that the drawdown from 175 to 145 m takes place with a speed of 25 cm/day, which is based on the extreme water level regulation
program of TGR. The simulation shows that this causes a significant deformation in the landslide mass and that the maximum
displacement within the landslide is 24.2 cm. During the drawdown process, the maximum displacement zone is shifting from
the upper part of the landslide where bedrock surface is steeper and thickness of loose deposits is less to the middle part
of the landslide where bedrock surface is less steep and thickness of loose deposits is higher. The deformation mechanism
indicates that in the early stage of the drawdown the deformation of the landslide mass is mainly caused by seepage and in
the later stage mainly by consolidation. 相似文献
