In this paper, the rms-flux (root mean square-flux) relation along the Z-track of the bright Z-Source Cyg X-2 is analyzed using the observational data of Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE). Three types of rms-flux relations, i.e. positive, negative, and ‘arch’-like correlations are found in different branches. The rms is positively correlated with flux in normal branch (NB), but anti-correlated in the vertical horizontal branch (VHB). The rms–flux relation shows an ‘arch’-like shape in the horizontal branch (HB). We also try to explain this phenomenon using existing models. 相似文献
Using an apparent-magnitude limited Main galaxy sample of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 7(SDSS DR7), we investigate
the correlation between morphologies and luminosity for the Main galaxy sample. Our Main galaxy sample is divided into two
classes: Main galaxies only with TARGET_GALAXY flag (bestPrimtarget = 64), and ones also with other flags. It is found that
for the second class Main galaxies, the early-type proportion monotonously increases with increasing luminosity nearly in
the whole luminosity region. But for the first class Main galaxies, the early-type proportion increases with increasing luminosity
only within a certain luminosity region (−22.2 < Mr < −19.8). In the high luminosity region (Mr < −22.2), the early-type proportion of the first class Main galaxies even decreases dramatically with increasing luminosity.
We also analyze the correlation between morphologies and luminosity of galaxies around the peak of the redshift distribution
( 0.07 ≤ z ≤ 0.08 ). In such a narrow redshift region, we still observe strong correlation between morphologies and luminosity,
which shows that this correlation is fundamental. 相似文献
Mirror mode waves in the solar wind are typically observed not as quasi-periodic sinusoidal signatures, but as trains of nonperiodic structures of two types: magnetic ??peaks?? and magnetic ??dips.?? Some trains of long durations have been called mirror mode storms. In this work we report mirror mode waves downstream of a stream interaction region (SIR) forward shock observed near 1?AU on 7?May 2007 with Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO) and Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms (THEMIS) data. The high-resolution magnetic-field data (0.125-second resolution) from STEREO are scanned to search for magnetic dips and peaks (or upgoing magnetic ??mesas??) in the solar wind. STEREO-A observes a mirror mode storm: the appearance of mirror mode waves (mainly magnetic peaks and upgoing mesas) is simultaneous with the entry into a high-density, high-temperature, and high plasma ?? accompanied by a depressed field region; the magnetic dips survive in the lower plasma-?? region. STEREO-B observes mirror mode waves (mainly magnetic peaks) with different amplitudes and asymmetric forms, which can survive in a low plasma ?? region. THEMIS-D, which was located in the solar wind, also observes mirror mode waves (mainly magnetic peaks and upgoing mesas) as well as an enhanced ion temperature anisotropy (T????3T??). The enhanced ion temperature anisotropy and high plasma ?? satisfy the mirror-instability criterion. These observations of STEREO and THEMIS-D show that mirror mode waves can be excited downstream of a SIR forward shock near 1?AU. 相似文献
A gamma-ray burst (GRB) optical photometric follow-up system at the Xinglong Observatory of National Astronomical Observatories of China (NAOC) has been constructed. It uses the 0.8-m Tsinghua-NAOC Telescope (TNT) and the 1-m EST telescope, and can au-tomatically respond to GRB Coordinates Network (GCN) alerts. Both telescopes slew rela-tively fast, being able to point to a new target field within ~ 1 min upon a request. Whenever available, the 2.16-m NAOC telescope is also used. In 2006 the system responded to 15 GRBs and detected seven early afterglows. In 2007 six GRBs have been detected among 18 follow-up observations. TNT observations of the second most distant GRB 060927 (z = 5.5) are shown, which started as early as 91 s after the GRB trigger. The afterglow was detected in the combined image of the first 19 × 20 s unfiltered exposures. This GRB follow-up system has joined the East-Asia GRB Follow-up Observation Network (EAFON). 相似文献
Catastrophic disasters can change the course of urban development and challenge the long-run sustainability of cities and regions. How to rapidly reconstruct communities impaired by catastrophic disaster is a world-wide challenge. The reconstruction after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake in China was an unusual case of very rapid reconstruction after a catastrophic disaster. Over US$147 billion was invested to rebuild the damaged areas within 3 years. The reconstruction was not simply building back what was destroyed, but was used as an opportunity to advance national goals for urbanization, rural transformation, and poverty reduction. In this article, we review how the reconstruction was planned, budgeted, and financed in the sociopolitical context of 2008 China. Particularly, we discuss two innovative programs, namely pair assistance and land-based financing. Despite the unique circumstances of China, lessons can be learned to speed up post-disaster reconstruction and urban development in other countries. Conversely, this case illustrates that a narrow focus on physical reconstruction may overlook broader economic and social issues.
