The TLP configuration in this paper comes from the case study of the ISSC Derived Loads Committee I.2 in 1985. Two models, Model 1 and Model 2, are created aiming at developing a computational tool to handle hydro-dynamic and structural aspects together to help the TLP designer. Another objective is to generate relevant information for a non-linear static local stress analysis of TLP components from a dynamic hydro-structural global analysis. Model 2 is developed for LUSAS, a general purpose, well established, FE software, to validate the in-house program DCATLP. Model 1 and Model 2 are purposely made slightly different in the tether modelling so that the non-linear formulations in DCATLP to treat a TLP as a coupled system with the hull and tethers can be verified with a straightforward linear step-by-step dynamic analysis in LUSAS. The code in DCATLP has advanced features to account for some complex aspects of TLPs, such as compliant characteristics. The results from DCATLP can be directly used in the reliability based structural design of TLP components and subsequent optimisation studies.  相似文献

In this paper, we have attempted a diagnostic study of the turbulence characteristics of the ABL by means of two one-dimensional models. The first model uses a first order non-local closure, based on the Transilient Turbulence Theory, for parameterizing turbulent fluxes. while the second model uses second order local closure for parameterizing these. The models have been applied to conduct case studies using the Kytoon data taken at Kharagpur, during 17th–21st June, 1990, as part of the MONTBLEX programme. Our findings bring out various interesting features regarding the non-local and local turbulent statistics such as kinematic fluxes, turbulence kinetic energy, vertical velocity variance, the contribution of the eddies of various sizes to the fluxes at different level and the mixing lengths. The one-dimensional anisotropy of the turbulent eddies has been revealed by the findings from the transilient model. The vertical variation of the turbulence kinetic energy, as computed directly by the second order model, is found to be strongly correlated with the vertical velocity variance. In particular, for stably stratified boundary layers, identification of two distinct zones of the turbulence kinetic energy and corresponding vertical velocity maxima is possible, which has been interpreted as positive evidence of patchy turbulence in the boundary layer.  相似文献

The use of LANDSAT data has proved to be a major aid to semi-macroscale geomorphic mapping of terrain. The geomorphological contribution to the classifications of the Darjeeling District, using quantitative measures of selected terrain factors apart from conventional landsystem mapping on MSS-imagery, has been found to be more useful means of terrain evaluation as well as its proper development in resource management. Qualitative estimates of terrain factors, viz. altitude, relief, slope and dissection nature, drainage texture and pattern, valley forms and crest types coupled with landcover types etc. are considered in preparation of landsystem map of the area. Because of its subjective biasness, an alternative approach, the parametric method of terrain classification is carried out to analyse the spatial distributions of quantitative parameters on terrain factors viz. maximum altitude, average altitude, relative relief, average slope, dissection index, drainage density and ruggedness index etc. and to combine the resulting patterns into compositive generalizations. The composite map thus prepared reveals six terrain units of distinct morphological classes and are sufficiently equatable to certain physical conditions of terrain.  相似文献

A variety of low‐ to high‐pressure metamorphic assemblages occur in the metabasic rocks and metachert in the Upper Cretaceous–Eocene ophiolite belt of the central part of the Naga Hills, an area in the northern sector of the Indo–Myanmar Ranges in the Indo–Eurasian collision zone. The ophiolite suite includes peridotite tectonite containing garnet lherzolite xenoliths, layered ultramafic–mafic cumulates, metabasic rocks, basaltic lava, volcaniclastics, plagiogranite, and pelagic sediments emplaced as dismembered and imbricated bodies at thrust contacts between moderately metamorphosed accretionary rocks/basement (Nimi Formation/Naga Metamorphics) and marine sediments (Disang Flysch). It is overlain by coarse clastic Paleogene sediments of ophiolite‐derived rocks (Jopi/Phokphur Formation). The metabasic rocks, including high‐grade barroisite/glaucophane‐bearing epidote eclogite and glaucophane schist, and low‐grade greenschist and prehnite–clinochlore schist, are associated with lava flows and ultramafic cumulates at the western thrust contact. Chemically, the metabasites show a low‐K tholeiitic affinity that favors derivation from a depleted mantle source as in the case of mid‐ocean ridge basalt. Thermobarometry indicates peak P–T conditions of about 20 kb and 525°C. Retrogression related to uplift is marked by replacement of barroisite and omphacite by glaucophane followed by secondary actinolite, albite, and chlorite formation. A metabasic lens with an eclogite core surrounded by successive layers of glaucophane schist and greenschist provides field evidence of retrogression and uplift. Presence of S‐C mylonite in garnet lherzolite and ‘mica fish’ in glaucophane schist indicates ductile deformation in the shear zone along which the ophiolite was emplaced.  相似文献

Undulating landscapes of Chhotanagpur plateau of the Indian state of Jharkhand suffer from soil erosion vulnerability of varying degrees. An investigation was undertaken in some sections of the Upper Subarnarekha River Basin falling within this state. An empirical equation known as Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) was utilized for estimating the soil loss. Analysis of remote sensing satellite data, digital elevation model (DEM) and geographical information system (GIS)–based geospatial approach together with USLE led to the soil erosion assessment. Erosion vulnerability assessment was performed by analyzing raster grids of topography acquired from Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) Global DEM data. LANDSAT TM and ETM+ satellite data of March 2001 and March 2011 were used for inferring the land use–land cover characteristics of the watershed for these years, respectively. USLE equation was computed within the GIS framework to derive annual soil erosion rates and also the areas with varying degrees of erosion vulnerability. Erosion vulnerability units thus identified covered five severity classes of erosion ranging from very low (0–5 ton ha?1 yr?1) to very severe (> 40 ton ha?1 yr?1). Results indicated an overall increase of erosion in the year 2011 as compared to the erosion computed for the year 2001. Maximum soil erosion rate during the year 2001 was found up to 40 ton ha?1 yr?1, whereas this went up to 49.80 ton ha?1 yr?1 for the year 2011. Factors for the increase in overall erosion could be variation in rainfall, decrease in vegetation or protective land covers and most important but not limited to the increase in built-up or impervious areas as well.  相似文献

The trioctahedral mica ephesite, Na(LiAl2) [Al2Si2O10] (OH)2, has a large -T stability field in the quaternary system NaAlSiO4-LiAlSiO4-Al2O3-H2O. At temperatures below 400–500° C it coexists with diaspore, while at higher temperatures it occurs with corundum, until it decomposes to nepheline +eucryptite+corundum+H2O at 600–800° C (Fig. 1). Nature faithfully reflects these phase relations; ephesite is found to coexist with diaspore or corundum in silicadeficient metamorphosed rocks or in hydrothermally altered nepheline-syenite pegmatite.Thermodynamic analysis of phase relations of ephesite in the silica saturated portion of the quinary system NaAlSiO4-LiAlSiO4-Al2O3-SiO2-H2O shows that the assemblage quartz+ephesite is always metastable with respect to paragonite+spodumene or paragonite+petalite at temperatures down to approximately 300° C (Fig. 3). At lower temperatures, a number of other phases like bikitaite, cookeite, Na-montmorillonite, and analcime are stabilized. Stability and compatibility relations involving these phases are presently not amenable to thermodynamic treatment due to lack of suitable data. Nevertheless, the absence of the assemblage quartz+ephesite in nature seems to vindicate our conclusion that it is metastable down to at least 300° C.The frequently encountered assemblage quartzspodumene (or petalite)-microcline-albite of some lithium pegmatites contains muscovite (±lepidolite), rather than paragonite. The absence of paragonite in such rocks is best explained by the inherent metastability of the phase-pair paragonite+microcline with respect to muscovite+albite. The pegmatite bulk compositions plot in the four-phase field spodumene (petalite)-microcline-muscovite-albite, cutting out paragonite from the observed assemblage Thus, absence of paragonite-spodumene or paragonitepetalite in nature reflects lack of suitable bulk compositions in rocks.  相似文献

The Davis Lake pluton (DLP, ~800 km2) of southwestern Nova Scotia, Canada, part of the large peraluminous South Mountain batholith of ca. 380 Ma (U/Pb zircon, Ar/Ar mica), consists of granite and subordinate topaz–muscovite leucogranite that hosts greisen tin-base metal mineralization. A new Pb–Pb isochron age for leucogranite from the most evolved part of the DLP indicates a crystallization age of 378±3.6 Ma, coincident with other radiometric ages of the DLP (Rb–Sr, Re–Os, Pb–Pb). The intrusion displays a compositional zonation defined by lead and strontium isotopic ratios, as well as some major elements (e.g., Si, F), incompatible trace elements (e.g., Li, Rb, Ta, U, Sn), and elemental ratios (e.g., K/Rb and Nb/Ta). The greisens and the leucogranites that host them are characterized by extreme radiogenic compositions for Pb and Sr, and their chemical-isotopic trends are extensions of the trends displayed by the less evolved granites. The covariations of the isotopic ratios with several major and trace elements and elemental ratios as well as the Pb–Pb and Rb–Sr isochrones indicate that all phases of the intrusion originated from a homogeneous parental magma. The granitoid magma underwent extensive fractional crystallization of feldspars, minor biotite and accessory minerals (monazite, apatite and zircon) in a compositionally zoned magma chamber that was subsequently accompanied by fluid fractionation, during which time the internally derived fluorine-rich fluids modified the Rb/Sr, U/Pb and Th/Pb ratios, leading to distinct variations of 87Sr/86Sr, 206Pb/204Pb, 238U/204Pb and 232Th/204Pb isotopic ratios. These data therefore document the evolution of a granitic magma through magmatic (i.e., crystal fractionation), orthomagmatic (i.e., crystal-fluid fractionation) and hydrothermal (i.e., fluid fractionation) stages that culminated in the formation of a tin-base metal deposit. The Pb isotope data also constrain the source region for the DLP as being Avalonian basement that, by inference, must underlie much of the Meguma Terrane.Editorial responsibility: T.L. Grove  相似文献

Recent developments in sensor technology have given an onset for studying the earth surface features based on the detailed spectroscopic observation of different rocks and minerals. The spectroscopic profiles of the rocks are always quite different than their constituent minerals however, the spectral profile of a rock can be broadly reconstituted from the spectral profile of each constituent minerals. Interpretation of rock spectra using the spectra of constituent minerals based on relative spectral matching can bring out interesting information on the rock. Present study is an effort toward this and it highlights how visible-near infrared-shortwave-infrared (VNIR-SWIR) rock spectroscopy acts as an useful tool for understanding the rock-mineralogy in indirect and rapid way. It has also been observed that spectral signatures of rocks; studied in present case, are related to spectral signatures of constituent minerals although absorption features of constituent mineral in the rock are also modified by the other minerals juxtaposed in the rock fabric. However, each rock of the study area has their significant absorption features, but many of the absorption signatures are closely spaced, as altered rock has significant absorption at 2305 nm whereas amphibolite has its important absorption signature in 2385 nm and metabasalt has its significant absorption at 2342 nm. Therefore spectral measurement of high spectral resolution with appreciable signal to noise ratio (SNR) only can detect rocks from each other based on the absorption signatures mentioned above (each of which is 10 to 20 nm apart from the other) and therefore spectroscopy of rock is an innovative technique to map rocks and minerals based on the spectral signatures.  相似文献

This study has been carried out in the granitic aquifer of Maheshwaram watershed, Telengana, India. In this study, groundwater sample data of 8 years were analyzed for the fluoride content with other chemical quality parameters. The correlation and factor analysis were employed to understand the mechanisms for fluoride (F) enrichment as well as the hydrochemistry of the area. These analyses addressed that the observed groundwater quality was due to water-rock interaction in the aquifer and fluoride is coming from the dissolution of fluorite and other silicate minerals like biotite and hornblende by the groundwater. Land use/land cover (LULC) study from 2002 to 2008 revealed there were significant positive changes in build-up land and negative changes in vegetation cover after 2003. The main agriculture (paddy) has been reduced to 0.97 km2 in 2008 from 2.39 km2 in 2003. The studied watershed has been characterized on the basis of F concentration into safe, transition, and unsafe groups following the WHO and BIS guidelines. The temporal variation of the three groups showed that 57.6% area of the watershed was in unsafe zone in 2000–2003, but 69.2% of the area became safe in 2006–2009. It has been found that F concentration reduced in 12.59% of the area (became safe from unsafe) accompanied by the reduction of paddy field area. After validation with present (2016) fluoride concentrations, it was found that 16.28% are vulnerable in near future. The results of this study showed that (a) the safe and unsafe zones of fluoride concentrations vary with time with the changes in other parameters associated with it like crop pattern and (b) vulnerable zone can be identified based on the susceptibility to change of safe and unsafe zones. Such studies are useful for planning and management purposes.  相似文献
