The recent determination that the angular velocity of the Sun declines downward through the convective zone raises serious questions about the nature of the solar dynamo. The principal qualitative features of the Sun are the azimuthal fields that migrate toward the equator in association with an oscillating poloidal field which reverses at about the time of maximum appearance of bipolar magnetic regions. If decreases downward, or is negligible, the horizontal gradient in produces a dynamo with some of these essential characteristics. There is reason to think that the dynamo is confined to the lower half of the convective zone where has the opposite sign from the usual ( > 0 in the northern hemisphere) producing equatorward migration but reversing the sign of the associated poloidal field. Meridional circulation may play an essential role in shaping the dynamo. A theoretical model for the interstellar turbulence is developed. In this model the fluctuation spectrum is formed due to reflection of shocks, produced by supernovae, on interstellar clouds. The spectra of turbulence and the diffusion coefficient of cosmic rays are derived. It is demonstrated that local enhancements of the ionization rate by cosmic rays accelerated by supernova shocks may be responsible for fast renewal of warm ionized envelopes around cores of standard ISM clouds. 相似文献

A set of coupled nonlinear differential equations which govern the dynamics of finite amplitude electromagnetic waves in the presence of an external current gradient in a magnetized electron-positron plasma has been derived. It is shown that the current gradient can make shear Alfvén-like waves unstable. A quasi-stationary solution of the mode-coupling equations is the well-localized dipole vortex. Application of our results to plasma transport in the pulsar magnetosphere is briefly discussed. 相似文献

Observations made by the differential method in the H line have revealed longperiod (on a timescale of 40 to 80 min) line-of-sight velocity oscillations which increase in amplitude with distance from the centre to the solar limb and, as we believe, give rise to prominence oscillations. As a test, we present some results of simultaneous observations at the photospheric level where such periods are absent.Oscillatory processes in the solar chromosphere have been studied by many authors. Previous efforts in this vein led to the detection of shortperiod oscillations in both the mass velocities and radiation intensity (Deubner, 1981). The oscillation periods obtained do not, normally, exceed 10–20 min (Dubov, 1978). More recently, Merkulenko and Mishina (1985), using filter observations in the H line, found intensity fluctuations with periods not exceeding 78 min. However, the observing technique they used does not exclude the possibility that those fluctuations were due to the influence of the Earth's atmosphere. It is also interesting to note that in spectra obtained by Merkulenko and Mishina (1985), the amplitude of the 3 min oscillations is anomalously small and the 5 min period is altogether absent, while the majority of other papers treating the brightness oscillations in the chromosphere, do not report such periods in the first place. So far, we are not aware of any other evidence concerning the longperiod velocity oscillations in the chromosphere on a timescale of 40–80 min.Longperiod oscillations in prominences (filaments) in the range from 40 to 80 min, as found by Bashkirtsev et al. (1983) and Bashkirtsev and Mashnich (1984, 1985), indicate that such oscillations can exist in both the chromosphere and the corona (Hollweg et al., 1982).In this note we report on experimental evidence for the existence of longperiod oscillations of mass velocity in the solar chromosphere. 相似文献

Arguments are presented to suggest that surface layers of the nuclei of periodic comets consist of crystallized rather than
amorphous water ice and thermal modelling of such nuclei is presented. The rate of sublimation of water from a rotating nucleus
is found to be greater than that from a uniformly heated nucleus. When the model is applied to P/Halley, the sublimation rate
at perihelion is found to be 8.1 × 1029 mol s−1 for a nucleus rotating with a period of 50 hours and 7.6 × 1029 for a uniformly heated nucleus on the premise that the effective radius of the nucleus is 2.5 km. The total sublimation of

The size-frequency-distributions of different chondrule types in the Qingzhen, Kota-Kota and Allan Hills A77156 EH3 chondrites were determined by petrographic analysis of thin sections and, in the case of Qingzhen, by examination of large separated chondrules. EH chondrules are considerably smaller than L and LL chondrules and are probably slightly smaller than H, CM and CO chondrules. In the EH3 chondrites, radial pyroxene (RP) chondrules are somewhat (85% confidence level) larger than cryptocrystalline (C) chondrules, nonporphyritic chondrules have a broader size-frequency-distribution than porphyritic chondrules, and porphyritic olivine-pyroxene (POP) chondrules are considerably (98% confidence level) larger than porphyritic pyroxene (PP) chondrules. The larger size of RP chondrules relative to C chondrules in EH3 chondrites may be due to a tendency of the chondrule-forming mechanism not to have heated large precursor aggregates above the liquidus. Consequent retention of numerous relict grains would have caused these objects to develop RP rather than C textures upon cooling. The large proportion (≥50%) of nonporphyritic EH3 chondrules among the smaller chondrule size-fractions may have been caused by preferential disruption of large nonporphyritic chondrule droplets. The large proportion (≥50%) of nonporphyritic EH3 chondrules among the larger chondrule size-fractions is problematic. The larger size of POP relative to PP chondrules is due to reaction of fine-grained olivine with free silica to form pyroxene during mild thermal metamorphism of the whole-rocks. 相似文献

Low phase angle effects in photometry of trans-neptunian objects: 20000 Varuna and 19308 (1996 TO66)
We present the results of photometric observations of trans-neptunian object 20000 Varuna, which were obtained during 7 nights in November 2004-February 2005. The analysis of new and available photometric observations of Varuna reveals a pronounced opposition surge at phase angles less than 0.1 deg with amplitude of 0.2 mag relatively to the extrapolation of the linear part of magnitude-phase dependence to zero phase angle. The opposition surge of Varuna is markedly different from that of dark asteroids while quite typical for moderate albedo Solar System bodies. We find an indication of variations of the scattering properties over Varuna's surface that could result in an increase of the lightcurve amplitude toward zero phase angle. It is shown that a similar phase effect can be responsible for lightcurve changes found for TNO 19308 (1996 TO66) in 1997-1999. 相似文献
