Astrochemistry is the discipline that studies physico-chemical processes in astrophysical environments. Such environments are characterized by conditions that are substantially different from those existing in usual chemical laboratories. Models which aim to explain the formation of molecular species in interstellar environments must take into account various factors, including many that are directly, or indirectly related to the populations of massive stars in galaxies. The aim of this paper is to review the influence of massive stars, whatever their evolution stage, on the physico-chemical processes at work in interstellar environments. These influences include the ultraviolet radiation field, the production of high energy particles, the synthesis of radionuclides and the formation of shocks that permeate the interstellar medium. 相似文献

In this paper we try to identify and describe the specifics of the Berlin city plume characterised by a zone of enhanced photochemical activity downwind of the urban area, where the major emissions of ozone precursors (NOx and VOC) take place. Two Eulerian CTM systems (EURAD and REM3/CALGRID) and one Euler–Lagrangian model (LaMM5) are applied to thearea of Berlin/Brandenburg to investigate the processes involved in the evolution of the Berlin plume inherent to the models. The study focuses on 20 July 1998,the first special observation period (SOP) during BERLIOZ. The examination includes (1) the role of turbulence and transport and the role of mass flux to the surface during the evolution of the plume, (2) the import situation of the ground based measurement sites, (3)the terms of the ozone budget equation and their contribution to precursor distribution and ozone formation, (4) the substructures of the plume defined by its chemical regimes. Main results show that the complex meteorological conditions during this SOP with considerable turbulent transports demand an Euler–Lagrangian approach to determine the source receptor relationshipsfor the ground based measurement sites. These relations reveal that only a minor part (5%) of the air approaching Pabstthum and the more downwind (north-western) stations origins from Berlin and that the mutual transport between all sites was limited. The latter result afflicts the joint interpretation of data from different stations because the presumption to measure the same air mass is violated in many cases for this SOP. The CTM results reveal that the local net production of ozone within the plume was controlled by transport ad chemical processes both owning the same importance but tending to counteract each other. At this SOP far distance sources of ozone precursors originating from the Bohemian basin did not interfere the Berlin city plume although they generally have the potential to do so. 相似文献

We have jointly analysed space gravimetry data from the GRACE space mission, satellite altimetry data and precipitation over the East African Great Lakes region, in order to study the spatiotemporal variability of hydrological parameters (total water storage, lake water volume and rainfall). We find that terrestrial water storage (TWS) from GRACE and precipitation display a common mode of variability at interannual time scale, with a minimum in late 2005, followed by a rise in 2006–2007. We argue that this event is due to forcing by the strong 2006 Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) on East African rainfall. We also show that GRACE TWS is linked to the El Niño-Southern Oscillation cycle. Combination of the altimetry-based lake water volume with TWS from GRACE over the lakes drainage basins allows estimating soil moisture and groundwater volume variations. Comparison with the WGHM hydrological model outputs is performed and discussed. 相似文献

The Prince of Wales Formation – post-flood basalt alkali volcanism in the Tertiary of East Greenland
In the nunataks of the Prince of Wales Mountains the tholeiite flood basalts of the East Greenland Tertiary Province are
unconformably overlain by alkaline lavas. The majority of the alkaline lavas are strongly porphyritic picrites, ankaramites
and hawaiites. These rocks have lower 143Nd/144Nd and higher 87Sr/86Sr than the tholeiitic flood basalts and are isotopically akin to ocean island basalts. The alkaline lavas also have high
concentrations of incompatible elements which on normalised plots have a pattern which is similar in shape to that of enriched
oceanic island basalts. The isotopic and chemical characteristics of these late-stage representatives of the East Greenland
volcanic activity are attributed to their derivation from the peripheral regions of the East Greenland plume, the axial region
of which was moving progressively eastwards relative to the westwards drift of the Greenland plate. It is proposed that the
incompatible element contents of the magmas so produced were dominated by small degree melts formed beneath a cap of continental
lithosphere in the marginal regions of the plume.

We report preliminary results from a targeted investigation on quasars containing damped Lyman‐α absorption (DLA) lines as well strong metal absorption lines, carried out with the Potsdam Multi Aperture Spectrophotometer (PMAS). We search for line‐emitting objects at the same redshift as the absorption lines and close to the line of sight of the QSOs. We have observed and detected the already confirmed absorbing galaxies in Q2233+131 (zabs = 3.15) and Q0151+045 (zabs=0.168), while failing to find spectral signatures for the z = 0.091 absorber in Q0738+313. This paper presents a rehabilitation technique developed under a design and construction scheme, termed minimal‐disturbance seismic rehabilitation. This scheme pursues enhancing the seismic performance of buildings with the intention of improving the continuity of business while minimizing obstruction of the visual and physical space of building users and the use of heavy construction equipment and hot work (welding/cutting). The developed rehabilitation technique consists of light‐weight steel elements and aims to decrease demands to beam‐ends of steel moment‐resisting frames. The behavior of the baseline model was verified through numerical analysis and proof‐of‐concept testing. Furthermore, the effectiveness of rehabilitation is studied through retrofitting a four‐story steel moment‐resisting frame originally designed with Japanese design guidelines. Osmium, Ru, Ir, Pt, Pd and Re abundances and 187Os/188Os data on peridotites were determined using improved analytical techniques in order to precisely constrain the highly siderophile element (HSE) composition of fertile lherzolites and to provide an updated estimate of HSE composition of the primitive upper mantle (PUM). The new data are used to better constrain the origin of the HSE excess in Earth’s mantle. Samples include lherzolite and harzburgite xenoliths from Archean and post-Archean continental lithosphere, peridotites from ultramafic massifs, ophiolites and other samples of oceanic mantle such as abyssal peridotites. Osmium, Ru and Ir abundances in the peridotite data set do not correlate with moderately incompatible melt extraction indicators such as Al2O3. Os/Ir is chondritic in most samples, while Ru/Ir, with few exceptions, is ca. 30% higher than in chondrites. Both ratios are constant over a wide range of Al2O3 contents, but show stronger scatter in depleted harzburgites. Platinum, Pd and Re abundances, their ratios with Ir, Os and Ru, and the 187Os/188Os ratio (a proxy for Re/Os) show positive correlations with Al2O3, indicating incompatible behavior of Pt, Pd and Re during mantle melting. The empirical sequence of peridotite-melt partition coefficients of Re, Pd and Pt as derived from peridotites () is consistent with previous data on natural samples. Some harzburgites and depleted lherzolites have been affected by secondary igneous processes such as silicate melt percolation, as indicated by U-shaped patterns of incompatible HSE, high 187Os/188Os, and scatter off the correlations defined by incompatible HSE and Al2O3. The bulk rock HSE content, chondritic Os/Ir, and chondritic to subchondritic Pt/Ir, Re/Os, Pt/Re and Re/Pd of many lherzolites of the present study are consistent with depletion by melting, and possibly solid state mixing processes in the convecting mantle, involving recycled oceanic lithosphere. Based on fertile lherzolite compositions, we infer that PUM is characterized by a mean Ir abundance of 3.5 ± 0.4 ng/g (or 0.0080 ± 0.0009*CI chondrites), chondritic ratios involving Os, Ir, Pt and Re (Os/IrPUM of 1.12 ± 0.09, Pt/IrPUM = 2.21 ± 0.21, Re/OsPUM = 0.090 ± 0.002) and suprachondritic ratios involving Ru and Pd (Ru/IrPUM = 2.03 ± 0.12, Pd/IrPUM = 2.06 ± 0.31, uncertainties 1σ). The combination of chondritic and modestly suprachondritic HSE ratios of PUM cannot be explained by any single planetary fractionation process. Comparison with HSE patterns of chondrites shows that no known chondrite group perfectly matches the PUM composition. Similar HSE patterns, however, were found in Apollo 17 impact melt rocks from the Serenitatis impact basin [Norman M.D., Bennett V.C., Ryder G., 2002. Targeting the impactors: siderophile element signatures of lunar impact melts from Serenitatis. Earth Planet. Sci. Lett, 217-228.], which represent mixtures of chondritic material, and a component that may be either of meteoritic or indigenous origin. The similarities between the HSE composition of PUM and the bulk composition of lunar breccias establish a connection between the late accretion history of the lunar surface and the HSE composition of the Earth’s mantle. Although late accretion following core formation is still the most viable explanation for the HSE abundances in the Earth’s mantle, the “late veneer” hypothesis may require some modification in light of the unique PUM composition. 相似文献

The origin of dome-and-keel structural geometries in Archean granite–greenstone terrains appears to lack any modern analogues and is still poorly understood. The formation of these geometries is investigated using structural and anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) data for the Chinamora batholith in Zimbabwe. The roughly circular-shaped batholith is surrounded by ca. 2.72–2.64 Ga greenstones. The batholith granitoid suites have been divided on the basis of their ages and fabric relationships into four distinct units: (i) banded basement gneisses; (ii) granodioritic gneisses; (iii) equigranular granites; and (iv) central porphyritic granites. In the gneissic granites a partial girdle (N–S) of poles to the magnetic foliation is developed that has been folded around a consistent, flat lying magnetic lineation plunging at shallow angles to the E or W. In the equigranular granites, the magnetic lineation generally plunges to the NW. The magnetic foliation has a variable strike, no clear trends can be distinguished. The AMS measurements of the porphyritic granite revealed a NW–SE striking foliation and showed subhorizontal magnetic lineations. The magnetic foliation is subparallel to the macroscopic foliation. Wall rocks are moderately inclined and show radial or concentric lineations, triaxial strain ellipsoids and kinematics that demonstrate off-the-dome sliding and coeval pluton expansion. The results of the observations do not point to a single emplacement process. Neither the observed structural data nor the magnetic fabric support a model envisaging spherically ‘ballooning’. It is argued that pluton diapirism played a major part in the formation of the fabrics in the gneisses, whereas the fabrics in the porphyritic granites reflect emplacement as laccolith-like sheets. 相似文献
