The seismicity and tectonic stress field characteristics of the Longmenshan fault zone before the Wenchuan M_S8.0 earthquake

The seismicity of Longmenshan fault zone and its vicinities before the 12 May 2008 Wenchuan MS8.0 earthquake is studied.Based on the digital seismic waveform data observed from regional seismic networks and mobile stations, the focal mechanism solutions are determined.Our analysis results show that the seismicities of Longmenshan fault zone before the 12 May 2008 Wenchuan earthquake were in stable state.No obvious phenomena of seismic activity intensifying appeared.According to focal mechanism solutions of ...     

Damage to urban buildings in zones of intensities Ⅷ and Ⅶ during the Wenchuan earthquake and discussion on some typical damages

The outline and typical characteristics of damages to building in Jiangyou city and Anxian county(intensity VⅢ), Mianyang city and Deyang city(intensity VII) are introduced in the paper.The damage ratios, based on the sample statistics of multi-story brick buildings together with multi-story brick buildings with RC frame at first story(BBF), are presented.Then some typical damages, such as horizontal cricks of brick masonry buildings, X-shaped cricks on the walls under windows, the damages to columns, beams...

Illustration All the data in this catalog are chosen from the ″Preliminary Seismological Report of Chi-nese Seismic Stations″ (Its abbreviation is ″Monthly Report″). The catalog includes the events of M≥4.7 in and near China and M≥6 all over the world. The ″Monthly Report″ is monthly compiled by the Ninth Section of Institute of Geophysics, China Earthquake Administration. The origin times of earthquakes in the catalog adopt coordinated universal time (UTC) in accordance with international convention.

New Progress in High-Precision and High-Resolution Seismic Exploration Technique in Coal Industry of China

In the past twenty years, the proportion of coal in primary-energy consumption in China is generally between 71.3% and 76.5%. The output of coal was 1.374 billion tons in 19%, and 1.21 tons in 1998, which ranked first in the world. Now coal is mined mainly with mechanization in China, which is planned to reach 80% in major State-owned coal mines in 2000 according to the planning of the government (Li et al., 1998; Tang Dejin, 1998).Compared with the USA and Australia, China has more complex coal geological structures. Based on high-resolution seismic technique in coal exploration, a new seismic technique with high-precision and high-resolution (2-D and 3-D) has been developed for the purpose of detecting small geological structures in coal mine construction and production to meet the needs of large-scale popularization of mechanized coal mining in China. Immune response of Pseudosciaena crocea to the injection of Vibrio alginolyticus

For the investigation of anti-infection immune response of Pseudosciaena crocea, 160 healthy fish samples were categorized into infected and control groups. Each individual fish in the infected group was injected intraperitoneally (i.p.) with 0.2 ml bacterial suspension of Vibrio alginolyticus in density of 2×107 CFU/ml, while each individual in the control group was injected i.p. with 0.2 ml sterile saline solution (0.85%). 地磁内、外源场分离及其强震前内、外源电流体系的演化特征

利用地磁内外源场分离方法,反演1997年11月8日玛尼地震前地下和空间等效电流体系的演化图像,分析了地磁低点位移出现前后等效电流体系变化特征.结果表明:内、外场等效电流体系的变化与地震"低点位移"异常现象有着内在的联系,等效电流体系变化可能是地磁低点位移异常现象产生的原因之一.
