A series of fluoride perovskites related to neighborite was investigated using X-ray and neutron diffraction techniques, and Rietveld profile refinement of powder diffraction data. The series (Na1? x K x )MgF3 comprises orthorhombic (Pbnm, a?≈? , b?≈? , c?≈?2a p , Z=4) perovskites in the compositional range 0?≤?x?≤?0.30, tetragonal perovkites (P4/mbm, a?≈? , c?≈?a p , Z=2) in the range 0.40?≤?x?≤?0.46, and cubic phases (Pmm, Z=1) for x?>?0.50. The structure of the orthorhombic neighborite is derived from the perovskite aristotype by rotation of MgF6 octahedra about the [110] and [001] axes of the cubic subcell. The degree of rotation, measured as a composite tilt Φ about the triad axis, varies from 18.2° at x=0 to 11.2° at x=0.30 (as determined from the fractional atomic coordinates). Orthorhombic neighborite also shows a significant displacement of Na and K from the “ideal” position (≤0.25?Å). The tetragonal members of the neighborite series exhibit only in-phase tilting about the [001] axis of the cubic subcell (φ) ranging from 4.5° to 4.8° (determined from the atomic coordinates). The solid solution (Na1? x K x )MgF3, shows a regular variation of unit-cell dimensions with composition from 3.8347?Å for the end-member NaMgF3 (reduced to pseudocubic subcell, a p ) to 3.9897?Å for KMgF3. This variation is accompanied by increasing volumes of the A-site polyhedra, whereas the volume of MgF6 octahedra initially decreases (up to x=0.40), and then increases concomitantly with K content. The polyhedral volume ratio, V A /V B , gradually increases towards the tetragonal structural range, in agreement with diminishing octahedral rotation in the structure. The P4/mbm-type neighborite has an “anomalous” polyhedral volume ratio (ca. 5.04) owing to the critical compression of MgF6 polyhedra.  相似文献

 High-pressure and high-temperature Raman spectra of CaGeO3 tetragonal garnet have been collected to 11.5 GPa and 1225 K, respectively, in order to investigate possible intrinsic anharmonic behaviour in this phase. The Raman peak positions were observed to vary linearly with pressure and temperature within the ranges studied, with the higher-energy peaks showing larger P- and T-induced shifts than the low energy modes. The observed T-induced shifts are similar to those reported for grossular and andradite, while the observed P-induced shifts are generally larger than those of aluminosilicate and MgSiO3 majorite garnets (Gillet et al. 1992; Rauch et al. 1996) due to the larger bulk modulus of CaGeO3 garnet. The observed mode shifts of CaGeO3 garnet were used to determine the isothermal and isobaric mode Grüneisen parameters for this phase. These parameters are similar in value to those reported previously for grossular and andradite (Gillet et al. 1992). The calculated intrinsic anharmonic parameters, a i , for CaGeO3 garnet were determined to be nonzero, indicating significant anharmonic behaviour for this phase. These values, which range from −3.8 × 10−5 K−1 to −1.3 × 10−5 K−1, are also similar to those reported for andradite and grossular, but smaller than those determined for pyrope (Gillet et al. 1992). Hence, we expect MgSiO3 majorite to show greater anharmonicity than the germanate analogue studied by us. The anharmonic parameters determined for CaGeO3 tetragonal garnet may now be introduced into quasiharmonic vibrational heat capacity models to account for the observed anharmonic behaviour. The paper reports on a theoretical and an experimental investigation into the buckling and vibration of prolate hemi-ellipsoidal tube-stiffened domes under external water pressure. The theoretical analyses were via the finite element method, where both the fluid and the structure were modelled with finite elements. The dome was modelled with a varying meridional curvature element and with eight displacement degrees of freedom and the water was modelled by solid annular elements where each element had eight pressure degrees of freedom in its cross-section. Abstract— Examination of fracture surfaces near the fusion crust of the martian meteorite Allan Hills (ALH) 84001 have been conducted using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) and has revealed structures strongly resembling mycelium. These structures were compared with similar structures found in Antarctic cryptoendolithic communities. On morphology alone, we conclude that these features are not only terrestrial in origin but probably belong to a member of the Actinomycetales, which we consider was introduced during the Antarctic residency of this meteorite. If true, this is the first documented account of terrestrial microbial activity within a meteorite from the Antarctic blue ice fields. These structures, however, do not bear any resemblance to those postulated to be martian biota, although they are a probable source of the organic contaminants previously reported in this meteorite.  相似文献

Abstract— Seismic reflection data and an at least 350 m thick, PGE‐rich carbonate breccia lens intersected by the Fohn‐1 exploration well in the Timor Sea off northern Australia, are interpreted in terms of a buried 4.8 km‐diameter impact crater of late Eocene to pre‐Miocene age. The crater displays the classic elements of impact structures, including a central uplift, ring syncline, and upraised rims. The presence in the breccia of redeposited Campanian and Maastrichtian microfossils suggests rebound of strata from levels deeper than 1250 m below the pre‐Miocene unconformity. Morphometric modelling suggests an original crater at least 1400 m deep, which is consistent with the excavation of Cretaceous strata. Stratigraphic and palaeontological evidence suggests that the impact occurred between 36 and 24.6 Ma. The breccia contains a pseudotachylite component enriched in the inert Pt group elements (PGE) (Ir, Ru) by factors of 5–12 above the values of common sediments. The more mobile PGE (Os, Pt, Pd) show a wide scatter and terrestrial‐type values. Opposite geochemical/stratigraphic trends pertain to different PGE species—the relatively inert Ir‐Ru group shows an overall concentration at the base of the section, whereas the more mobile Os shows peaks at median levels of the section—suggesting upward diagenetic leaching. The near‐chondritic PGE patterns at the base of the breccia pile are accompanied by near‐chondritic Ni/Cr, Co/Cr, Ni/Ir, Ni/Pt, and Cu/Pd ratios. Departure from these values related to alteration at higher levels in the breccia pile is accompanied with high S levels (~1%).  相似文献
