Eruptive prominences trace disruptions of magnetic arcades in which they are embedded. The stability of an arcade containing an electric current filament at its axis is discussed. The model provides criteria for the onset of the eruptive instability in terms of prominence twist and overall geometry, i.e., the parameters which could be measured directly. The evolution of the eruption is analyzed, and the dependence of the acceleration and the pitch of field-lines on the height is established. Abstract– The single‐piece iron meteorite Javorje, with a mass of 4920 g, is the heaviest and largest meteorite found in the territory of Slovenia. The meteorite Javorje is a medium octahedrite with kamacite bandwidth of 0.85 ± 0.26 mm. The bulk composition of Ni (7.83 wt%), Co (0.48 wt%) and trace elements Ga (25 μg/g), Ge (47 μg/g), Ir (7.6 μg/g), As (5.8 μg/g), Au (0.47 μg/g), and Pt (13.4 μg/g) indicates that the meteorite Javorje belongs to the chemical group IIIAB. Mineral and bulk chemical compositions are consistent with other reported group IIIAB meteorites. The presence of numerous rhabdites, carlsbergite, sparse troilite, and chromite and abundance of daubréelites are in accordance with low‐Ni and low‐P IIIAB iron meteorites. The severely weathered surface and secondary weathering products in the interior of the meteorite suggest its high terrestrial age. 相似文献

A series of new radio-continuum (λ=20 cm) mosaic images focused on the NGC?300 galactic system were produced using archived observational data from the VLA and/or ATCA. These new images are both very sensitive (rms?=60 μJy) and feature high angular resolution (<10?″). The most prominent new feature is the galaxy’s extended radio-continuum emission, which does not match its optical appearance. Using these newly created images a number of previously unidentified discrete sources have been discovered. Furthermore, we demonstrate that a joint deconvolution approach to imaging this complete data-set is inferior when compared to an immerge approach. 相似文献

We analyze radio observations, magnetograms and extrapolated field line maps, Hα filtergrams, and X-ray observations of two
flare events (6 February 1992 in AR 7042 and 25 October 1994 in AR 7792) and study properties, evolution and energy release
signatures of sigmoidal loop systems. During both events, the loop configuration seen in soft X-ray (SXR) images changes from
a preflare sigmoidal shape to a relaxed post-flare loop system. The underlying magnetic field system consists of a quadrupolar
configuration formed by a sheared arcade core and a remote field concentration. We demonstrate two possibilities: a sigmoidal
SXR pattern can be due to a single continuous flux tube (the 1992 event). Alternatively, it can be due to a set of independent
loops appearing like a sigmoid (the 1994 event). In both cases, the preflare and post-flare loops can be well reproduced by
a linear force-free field and potential field, respectively, computed using preflare magnetograms. We find that thermal and
non-thermal flare energy release indicators of both events become remarkably similar after applying spatial and temporal scale
transformations. Using the spatial scaling between both events we estimated that the non-thermal energy release in the second
event liberated about 1.7 times more energy per unit volume. A two-and-a-half times faster evolution indicates that the rate
of the energy release per unit volume is more than four times higher in this event. A coronal type II burst reveals ignition
and propagation of a coronal shock wave. In contrast, the first event, which was larger and released about a 10 times more
energy during the non-thermal phase, was associated with a CME, but no type II burst was recorded. During both events, in
addition to the two-ribbon flare process an interaction was observed between the flaring arcade and an emerging magnetic flux
region of opposite polarity next to the dominant leading sunspot. The arcade flare seems to stimulate the reconnection process
in an `emerging flux-type' configuration, which significantly contributes to the energy release. This regime is characterized
by the quasiperiodic injection of electron beams into the surrounding extended field line systems. The repeated beam injections
excite pulsating broadband radio emission in the decimetric-metric wavelength range. Each radio pulse is due to a new electron
beam injection. The pulsation period (seconds) reflects the spatial scale of the emerging flux-type field configuration. Since
broadband decimetric-metric radio pulsations are a frequent radio flare phenomenon, we speculate that opposite-polarity small-scale
flux intrusions located in the vicinity of strong field regions may be an essential component of the energy release process

Probabilistic aftershock hazard assessment (PAHA) has been introduced by Wiemer (Geophys Res Lett 27:3405–3408, 2000). The method, in its original form, utilizes attenuation relations in evaluating peak ground velocity (PGV) exceedence probability.
We substitute the attenuation relations together with their uncertainties by strong ground motion simulations for a set of
scenarios. The main advantage of such an approach is that the simulations account for specific details of the aftershock source
effects (faulting style, slip distribution, position of the nucleation point, etc.). Mean PGVs and their standard deviations
are retrieved from the simulation results obtained by the new hybrid k-squared source model, and they are used for the PAHA analysis at a station under study. The model chosen for the testing
purposes is inspired by the Izmit A25 aftershock (M
w
= 5.8) that occurred 26 days after the mainshock. The PAHA maps are compared with (1) those obtained by the use of attenuation
relations and (2) the peak values of ten selected strong-motion recordings written by the aftershock at epicentral distances
<50 km. We conclude that, although the overall hazard decay with increasing fault distance is similar, the PAHA maps obtained
by the use of simulations exhibit remanent radiation pattern effect and prolongation in the strike direction due to the directivity
effect pronounced for some of the scenarios. As regard the comparison with real data, we conclude that the PAHA maps agree
with observed peak values due to appropriate attenuation model adopted in the analysis. 相似文献

Summary The structure of the surface-air temperature field in meso-alpha and meso-beta scale is studied for the purpose of regionalisation and for the optimum interpolation meso-analysis in Slovenia. The possibilities of subregionalisation, of the split into the horizontal and the vertical part of autocorrelation function and of separation according to the general weather type have been tested. It was found that the influence of weather type could not be introduced without the simultaneous introduction of first-guess fields for each weather type. The relative importance of first-guess field versus the importance of the type of autocorrelation function is estimated by several tests of the optimum interpolation meso analysis.With 6 Figures 相似文献

A method of landscape evaluation based on the anthropo-ecological approach is worked out. The procedure consists of three stages, viz., general, special and optimization. Within the general stage, the structural arrangement of the landscape is evaluated by means of the concept of geo-ecological sites (GES), which are distributed into four zones (A, B, C, D) according to the degrees of their anthropic disturbance. The zoning performed makes it possible to select those geo-ecological sites where eco-critical relationships can be expected to appear; in order to eliminate such situations, transition zones are calculated for the geo-ecological sites concerned. The outcome of this approach is a proposal of a new structural arrangement of the geo-ecological sites, solving eco-critical situations and serving as a basis for the special and optimization stages of the anthropo-ecological method. 相似文献
