Based upon the knowledge of the field relations the mineral assemblages of the various metamorphic rocks of the area are plotted in AKF-diagrams with the aim at determining possible mutual reaction relationships. For the eastern part a continuous metamorphic transition follows, starting with mica schists of the Lower Palaeozoic Saxothuringicum as characterized by the assemblage biotite-muscovite- and alusite through a series of biotite-sillimanite-gneisses with garnet of K feldspar into the high-grade gneisses and migmatites of the Moldanubicum as typified by cordierite-sillimanite-K feldspar parageneses. Hence the age of this metamorphism common to all units is probably early Variscan (= Hercynian). In the western part the Moldanubian unit, in particular, was affected by wide-spread later diaphthoresis creating mineral assemblages like chlorite-biotite-muscovite and chlorite-phengitic white mica, that represent a lower facies than that of the neighbouring mica schists. This diapthoresis is also of Hercynian age, because it is followed by the intrusion of igneous rocks probably during Sudetic (= Middle Carboniferous) times.  相似文献

Lower to Middle Devonian carbonates of the Prague Syncline, the Carnic Alps, the Montagne Noire, and the Cantabrian Mountains were investigated for δ13Ccarb and δ13Corg. These values were measured on bulk rocks, selected components and cements. Many carbonates exhibit primary marine values, but some are altered by diagenesis. A δ13C curve can be presented for the latest Pridolian to Emsian time interval. Several sharp or broad positive excursions are obvious in the woschmidti-postwoschmidti, sulcatus, kitabicus, Late serotinus, and kockelianus conodont zones. The excursion at the Silurian–Devonian boundary is known worldwide and therefore considered global in nature. Some of the others are described for the first time from central and southern Europe, and their global nature has to be verified by further investigations in other regions. Most excursions relate to and/or started during major regressions whereas sea-level highstands correspond to minimal δ13C values. Similar relationships between sea-level changes and δ13C have been observed from other early Palaeozoic intervals. The transgressive Chote? (?) and Ka?ák events are marked by positive isotope excursions, this type of combination is usually observed in late Palaeozoic to Cenozoic black shale events.  相似文献

Sudden collapse of the Quaternary soil to form sinkholes on the order of meters and tens of meters has been a geologic phenomenon within living memory in a localized area north of Lake Chiemsee in Southeast Germany. Failing a satisfying explanation, a relation with an undefined glaciation process has always been proposed. Excavations and geophysical measurements at three newly affected sites show underground features such as prominent sandy-gravelly intrusions and extrusions typical of rock liquefaction processes well known to occur during strong earthquakes. Since strong earthquakes can reasonably be excluded to have affected the area under discussion, it has been suggested that the observed widespread liquefaction is related with the recently proposed Holocene Chiemgau meteorite impact event. Except for one earlier proposed but unassertive relation between impact and liquefaction, the obviously direct association of both processes in the Chiemgau area emphasizes that observed paleoliquefaction features need not necessarily have originated solely from paleoseismicity but can provide a recognizable regional impact signature.  相似文献

Gas phase transport according to chemical fluid transport (CFT) in Earth's crust as well as in the solar nebula is characterized by very high transport efficiency. Systematic investigations of mobilization, transport and deposition of gaseous MeX (Me = metal, X = F or Cl) compounds by solid gas equilibrium reactions are suitable to explain numerous extensive accumulations of minerals and ores. More than 40 of the considered chemical elements form volatile MeX compounds. Some elements tend to form MeF compounds, whereas others are more likely to form MeCl compounds. Silicon reacts with HF to form SiF4 and replaces other elements to form MeF compounds at low temperature ranges. Accumulations caused by SiF4 transport explain the formation of numerous quartz varieties and silicate minerals in Earth's crust. Iron most likely reacts with HCl to form FeCl2 as well as FeCl3 and explain the formation of iron or iron compounds. Thermodynamically directed transport from cool to hot areas in connection with cyclic processes increases the transport efficiency of MeX-species. Such species are SiF4, Al2F6, POF3, Cu3Cl3, SnCl4, BF3, GeF4, GeCl4, Ga2Cl6, ZrF4, NbF5 and TiF4. The transport gases SiF4 and POF3 often react with environmental compounds forming pneumatolytic and metasomatical mineral accumulations. CFT is the “motor” of pneumatolytic and metasomatical processes.  相似文献

The Peruvian coastal belt between Cañete and San Juan includes three geological units: The Coastal Cordillera on the west, the foothills of the High Sierra on the east, and the Para-Andean trough in between. Igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks form a sequence ranging in age from Paleozoic (or Pre-Cambrian?) to Cenozoic, with various gaps. The area lies in a mobile belt, which was folded in late Paleozoic, Jurassic (Nevadian), and upper Cretaceous times. Further tectonic activity, involving warping and block faulting, occurred in the late Tertiary, and suggests an approach to cratonic conditions. Tectonic events were accompanied by emplacement of magmatic suites. There is no evidence for a Pacific landmass.  相似文献

Airborne correlation spectrometry (COSPEC) was used to measure the rate of SO2 emission at White Island on three dates, i.e., November 1983, 1230 ± 300 t/d; November 1984, 320 ± 120 t/d; and January 1985, 350 ± 150 t/d (t = metric tons). The lower emission rates are likely to reflect the long-term emission rates, whereas the November 1983 rate probably reflects conditions prior to the eruption of December 1983. The particle flux in the White Island plume, as determined with a quartz crystal microbalance/cascade in November 1983, was 1.3 t/d, unusually low for volcanic plumes. The observed plume particles, as shown from scanning electron microscopy, include halite, native sulfur, and silicates and are broadly similar to other volcanic plumes.Gas analyses from high-temperature volcanic fumaroles collected from June 1982 through November 1984 werde used together with the COSPEC data to estimate the flux of other gas species from White Island. The rates estimated are indicative of the long-term volcanic emission, i.e., 8000–9000 t/d H2O, 900–1000 t/d CO2, 70–80 t/d HCl, 1.5–2 t/d HF, and about 0.2 t/d NH3. The long-term thermal power output at White Island is estimated at about 400 MW.  相似文献

In order to test the chronometer qualities of speculante for the (U + Th)/He dating method, 4He release experiments by stepwise heating of two specularites from the Rimbach mineralization locality in the southern Vosgues (France) have been carried out. The diffusion coefficients define linear Arrhenius plots within a temperature interval of 250 to 830 °C, which is suggestive of volume diffusion. Extrapolation of the diffusion behavior to 20° C yields diffusion coefficients (D20 values) smaller than 10?26 [cm2 s?1] for both hematites with activation energies at 116 [kJ/mole]. The results of our study suggest that specularite is a very helium retentive hematite variety which is capable of quantitatively retaining radiogenic helium over geologic periods of time.  相似文献
