The stationary, spherically symmetric, polytropic and inviscid accretion flow in the Schwarzschild metric has been set-up as an autonomous first-order dynamical system, and it has been studied completely analytically. Of the three possible critical points in the flow, the one that is physically realistic behaves like the saddle point of the standard Bondi accretion problem. One of the two remaining critical points exhibits the strange mathematical behaviour of being either a saddle point or a centre-type point, depending on the values of the flow parameters. The third critical point is always unphysical and behaves like a centre-type point. The treatment has been extended to pseudo-Schwarzschild flows for comparison with the general relativistic analysis. 相似文献
We present VLA A-array 21-cm atomic hydrogen (H i ) absorption observed against the central region of the starburst galaxy M82 with an angular resolution of ∼1.3 arcsec (≃20 pc). These observations, together with MERLIN H i absorption measurements, are compared with the molecular (CO) and ionized ([Ne ii ]) gas distributions and are used to constrain the dynamics and structure of the ionized, neutral and molecular gas in this starburst. A position–velocity diagram of the H i distribution reveals an unusual 'hole' feature which, when previously observed in CO, has been interpreted as an expanding superbubble contained within a ring of gas in solid body rotation. However, we interpret this feature as a signature of a nearly edge-on barred galaxy. In addition, we note that the CO, H i and [Ne ii ] position–velocity diagrams reveal two main velocity gradients, and we interpret these as gas moving on x1- and x2-orbits within a bar potential. We find the best fit to the data to be produced using a bar potential with a flat rotation curve velocity v b=140 km s−1 and a total length of 1 kpc, a non-axisymmetry parameter q =0.9, an angular velocity of the bar Ωb=217 km s−1 arcsec−1, a core radius R c=25 pc, an inclination angle i =80° and a projected angle between the bar and the major axis of the galaxy φ '=4°. We also discuss the orientation of the disc and bar in M82. 相似文献
We report here an unusually high concentration of iridium in some alkali basalts and alkaline rocks of Deccan region having
an age of about 65Ma, similar to the age of the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary. The alkali basalts of Anjar, in the western
periphery of Deccan province, have iridium concentration as high as 178pg/g whereas the alkaline rocks and basalts associated
with the Amba Dongar carbonatite complex have concentrations ranging between 8 and 80 pg/g. Some of these values are more
than an order of magnitude higher than the concentration in the tholeiitic basalts of Deccan, indicating the significance
of alkaline magmatism in the iridium inventory at the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary. Despite higher concentration, their contribution
to the global inventory of iridium in the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary clays remains small. The concentration of iridium in
fluorites from Amba Dongar was found to be <30 pg/g indicating that iridium is not incorporated during their formation in
hydrothermal activity. 相似文献
The paper deals with the study of the physical and dynamical characteristics of a severe thunderstorm, which had occurred on April 5, 2015, at about 2100 UTC in the southwestern Bangladesh with location around 23.3–23.7N and 89.0–89.4E within the upazilas (sub-districts) of Kumarkhali and Shailkupa under the districts of Kushtia and Jhenaidah, respectively. The thunderstorm was associated with numerous hails of large size. More than 5000 birds which used to live in the bird sanctuary at Shailkupa and 22,011 birds in Chhaglapara Bird Sanctuary of Kumarkhali died as they were hit by the hails. Large hails also damaged crops, houses and forests over the thunderstorm hit areas. The evolution of the thunderstorm is studied by the WRF model, which is initialized using the National Centers for Environmental Prediction Final reanalysis data of 0000 UTC of April 5, 2015. The simulated results provide a basis to study the physical and dynamical characteristics of the thunderstorm, which are generally not identified by the meteorological observations which are too sparse. The model has captured a micro-low over Kumarkhali and its neighborhood, which favored the occurrence of the severe thunderstorm. The model simulated rainfall is about 26 mm near the place of occurrence, which matches well with the area where the reflectivity of hydrometeor is maximum. The convective available potential energy is found to be 1600 J kg?1 at 1730 UTC near the place of occurrence of the thunderstorm; this indicates high atmospheric instability over the thunderstorm location for the formation of the thunderstorm. The vertical velocity, convergence, cloud water mixing ratio and the ice water mixing ratio and their vertical extensions are found to be satisfactory and responsible for the occurrence of large hails associated with the thunderstorm. 相似文献
The provision of urban service and citizens’ satisfaction is an important key issue in urban planning. Importance-performance analysis (IPA) is an effective and widely applicable technique to explore consumer’s satisfaction. IPA helps to prioritize the management strategies for urban services using the IPA. Purpose of the present study is to assess the performance of urban services and citizen’s satisfaction level of Panskura municipality using IPA models and improvement index. A total of 629 valid household responses are collected with the help of the door-to-door primary survey technique. The study reveals that all the selected seven urban services have significant importance-performance gap except water supply. Residents of the Panskura municipality are very much satisfied with the water supply service because of the very minimum improvement score. The combined result of IPA matrices and improvement index suggests residents are dissatisfied to a great extent with the performance of four urban services, i.e. health, economy, transportation and sanitation. These urban services require a problem-solving urgent action for restoration of the performance status. The improvement and prioritization of urban service are also required to fulfil the demand of target groups.
Environmental pollution due to heavy metals has become a significant drawback as a result of their ecotoxicity. Hence, their remediation is of pressing concern. Many technologies are planned for their remediation; however, most of them are highly expensive and result in incomplete removal of contaminants. So, massive attention has paid to the event and application of the latest biologically techniques, that is effective in remedy and cost, not harming the prevailing surroundings. Hence, application of biosurfactant in heavy metal remediation is one among the recent ecofriendly technique. The present review critically highlights bacterial biosurfactants as a best alternative technique for heavy metals remediation. The review also emphasizes that bacterial biosurfactants can open up a new vista in remediation of metal-contaminated soil. 相似文献
Monoclinic materials viz. quartz, lithium niobate and lithium tantalate are among the most abundant materials, finding numerous applications throughout the technological world. Moreover, the presence of irregularity, initial stresses, anisotropy and heterogeneity in a material medium is obvious. These facts motivate the study of magnetoelastic SH-wave propagation in an irregular monoclinic sandwiched layer between a heterogeneous isotropic layer and an isotropic half space, all under initial stress. The heterogeneity in the uppermost layer is caused due to exponential variation in rigidity, density and initial stress in terms of space variable pointing vertically downward. The dispersion relation has been obtained using first-order perturbation technique. The substantial effect of wave number, anisotropy, irregularity, width ratio of the layers, horizontal compressive/tensile initial stresses, heterogeneity and monoclinic-magnetoelastic coupling parameter associated with sandwiched layer on phase velocity of SH-wave has been studied and depicted by means of graph. Comparative study made for the case when pre-stressed irregular sandwiched layer is monoclinic-magnetoelastic to the case when it is isotropic magnetoelastic layer is one of the major highlights of the current study. 相似文献
