The historical development of analytical aerial triangulation block adjustment is mentioned by way of introduction. The advantages of separating the plan and height adjustments are given and the observation equations of a typical adjustment section are analysed to show that this convenient practice is justified in normal circumstances. The principles of a direct solution of the normal equations suitable for a moderate-sized computer, are explained and developed in detail for the height adjustment. The advantages of tie-strips in the height adjustment are demonstrated and the difficulties which then arise are discussed. An approximate method which overcomes these difficulties is developed. This paper examines the effects of heavy metals on microorganisms in the aqueous environment; the mechanisms by which metals may exert toxic effects on microbes and the factors affecting microbial response to metals; the ways in which microbial activity may alter the metal balance of an environment and the modifications produced in microbes by heavy metal ions; the effects of the toxic copper ion on the growth, respiration, magnesium content, cytochrome synthesis and osmotic sensitivity of some organisms studied in the laboratory; and the feasibility of the participation of microbes in geochemical processes considering the demonstrable resistance to toxic metals by some bacteria and the fact that natural environments may contain high levels of metals rendered less toxic by binding to natural chelating compounds.
Zusammenfassung In dieser Arbeit werden verschiedene Wirkungen von Schwermetallen auf Mikroorganismen in wäßrigem Milieu untersucht. Es wird gezeigt, daß Schwermetalle toxische Wirkungen auf Mikroorganismen ausüben können und welche Faktoren die Reaktionen von Mikroben gegenüber Metallen bestimmen. Weiter wird beschrieben, wie die Mikrobenaktivität das Metallgleichgewicht in einem gegebenen Milieu verändern und beeinflussen kann und wie andererseits Änderungen in den Mikroben selbst durch Schwermetall-Ionen hervorgerufen werden. Dabei wird besonders die Wirkung des toxischen Kupfer-Ions auf das Wachstum, die Atmung, den Magnesiumgehalt, die Cytochromsynthese und die osmotische Empfindlichkeit einiger Mikroorganismen dargestellt. Die Anwesenheit von Mikroben bei geochemischen Prozessen wird unter Berücksichtigung der Resistenz einiger Bakterien gegenüber toxischen Metall-Ionen diskutiert. Dabei spielt die Tatsache eine große Rolle, daß durch Chelatbildung die Schwermetall-Ionen in der natürlichen Umwelt der Mikroorganismen ihre toxische Wirkung verlieren.

Summary The process of radon diffusion in space and time through rocks is treated in detail from the point of view of radiometric prospecting for oil. Taking into account the depth and diffusivity conditions encountered in nature it is stated that vertical radon diffusion reaching from the oil deposits up to the surface cannot be expected. Time intervals as required for setting in of a stationary concentration state and decay conditions of the radon lead to the conclusion that the penetration of emanometric measurements seldom exceeds the depth of 5–10 m.  相似文献

Summary In this study the different forms of the electromagnetic field strength recordings at the Thera-Crete microwave line of link are examined, in comparison with the corresponding weather situations prevailing over that area. According to the amplitude of fluctuations, the different forms of recordings have been classified in three basic typesA, B, C and the annual frequency of the appearance of these types has been observed. Finally, the influence of weather situations on radio wave propagation was examined and it has been found that in most cases a close relationship exists between weather situations and the different fading forms of the electromagnetic field so that a prediction of the fading form be possible by means of the weather forecast.This study was sponsored by a research grant from NATO's Scientific Committee.  相似文献

Summary Equations for the motions in a galaxy which is controlled by gravitational forces and inertial effects are formulated. It is found that for the motions relative to the rotating system formulae analogous, and of similar form, to the geostrophic wind equations may be written. From these formulae and from the distribution of the relative gravitational potential in the disc of the galaxy, it is found that a spiral tendency in the mass distribution carries the implication of an inward flux of angular momentum by advective processes. This is to be compared with an outward flux through gravitational torques obtained in previous studies in which the writer participated.  相似文献

Summary A gradually cumulative error due to the use of the hydrostatic approximation is examined through consideration of a simple mathematical model taken from the classical theory of gravity waves. Two cases are chosen which differ solely in the circumstance that in one the hydrostatic assumption is made while in the other it is not. A large divergence of the results present in the later stages is then to be referred to the neglect of terms contained in the exact equation of motion for the vertical direction in one of the solutions. The inference is drawn that comparable phenomena might arise in the integration of the atmospheric equations over long time periods.  相似文献

We used stable C and N isotope ratios of tissues from 29 fish species from a large subtropical lagoon in southern Brazil to examine spatial variability in isotopic composition and vertical trophic structure across freshwater and estuarine habitats. Nitrogen isotope ratios indicated a smooth gradation in trophic positions among species, with most fishes occupying the secondary and tertiary consumer level. Fish assemblages showed a significant shift in their carbon isotopic signatures between freshwater and estuarine sites. Depleted carbon signatures (from −24.7‰ to −17.8‰) were found in freshwater, whereas more enriched signatures (from −19.1‰ to −12.3‰) were obtained within the estuarine zone downstream. Based on our survey of the C3 and C4 plants and isotopic values for phytoplankton and benthic microalgae reported for ecosystems elsewhere, we hypothesized that the observed δ13C differences in the fish assemblage between freshwater and estuarine sites is due to a shift from assimilating organic matter ultimately derived from C3 freshwater marsh vegetation and phytoplankton at the freshwater site (δ13C ranging from −25‰ to −19‰), to C4 salt-marsh (e.g. Spartina) and widgeon grass (Ruppia maritima), benthic microalgae and marine phytoplankton at the estuarine sites (from −18‰ to −12‰). Our results suggested that fish assemblages are generally supported by autochthonous primary production. Freshwater fishes that likely were displaced downstream into the estuary during periods of high freshwater discharge had depleted δ13C values that were characteristic of the upper lagoon. These results suggest that spatial foodweb subsidies can occur within the lagoon.  相似文献
