Pure titanate nanotubes and titanate nanotubes doped with iron (III) and chromium (III) were fabricated by the hydrothermal treatment in methanol and sodium hydroxide mixture. The fabricated nano tubes have high surface area, high aspect ratio, consisted of very good surface morphology and high metals dispersion. The morphology, crysralline phase, composition were characterized by powdered X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Barrett-Joyner-Halenda methods and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results showed that nanotubes possess anatase phase and are composed up of 8–12 nm in diameter and 360–400 nm in length. The band gap of the titanium dioxide nanotubes was determined using transformed diffuse reflectance spectroscopy according to the Kubelka-Munk theory, showed pronounced band gap decrease on doped titanium dioxide nanotubes. The photocatalytic activity of doped nanotubes were evaluated in terms of degradation of phenol and photoreduction of carbon dioxide into methanol and ethanol under Ultra violet and Infra red irradiation. It was found that with iron (III) and chromium (III) doped titanium dioxide nanotubes exhibited much higher photocatalytic activity than undoped titanate nanotubes.  相似文献

A field experiment was conducted under rainfed environment of Pothowar region of Pakistan to assess physical properties of soil as influenced by various green manure legumes (sesbania, cluster bean and rice bean) and different P levels (0, 30, 60, 90 kg P2O5/ha). Highest fresh biomass was observed in sesbania (23 t/ha) followed by cluster bean (19 t/ha) and lowest in rice bean (17 t/ha). Maximum crude protein content was found in sesbania (17%) followed by rice bean (10%) and cluster bean (8%). Green manuring crops, on average reduced soil bulk density (5%), enhanced total porosity (8%), and macropores and large mesopores (28%). Maximum reduction (7%) in soil bulk density, and an increase (11%) in total soil porosity and available water (17%) was observed in plots where sesbania was incorporated as green manuring crop. The order of effectiveness in improving bulk density, macro and mesopores was sesbania > cluster bean > rice bean. Sesbania produced greater number of macro and large mesopores about 41% increase over control followed by cluster bean (29%) and rice bean (16%). Phosphorus application showed meager positive impact on various soil physical properties but did not significantly increased porosity or reduced bulk density. Significant differences in volume fraction in pore space suggest that pore space on a volume basis was much higher in sesbania-amended soil than in other treatments.  相似文献

Summary A hydrostatic model is applied to a case study from the Pyrenean field experiment PYREX. The results from this simulation are compared with measurements, with the aim to evaluate the model behaviour in the case of a flow past a steep orography. The initial and boundary data, which were used for the simulation, were produced with the T213 reassimilation system at Reading by the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). The comparison of the results with observations show that the local wind systems are captured reasonably well by the model. In particular the evolution of two counter rotating eddies in the lee of the Pyrenean mountain range are simulated correctly in space and time. Also the calculated orographic drag and vertical wave momentum flux agreed well with the measurements.With 15 Figures  相似文献

The study analyzes the structure, spatial interaction, and dimension of the post-colonial urban systems of Kenya using component factor analysis and based on selected socio-cultural, economic, and demographic variables. The study identified seven major dimensions of variation accounting for 72.0%. The analysis of the urban spatial variation is compared and intertwined with studies done in other countries to find out the regional variation of the loadings. Finally, a seven-order characteristics of Kenya urban systems is suggested, based on the study. The accurate knowledge of these salient characteristics of Kenya urban sub-systems is important before any viable spatial planning should be implemented.  相似文献

Models are the only tools capable of predicting the evolution of groundwater systems at a regional scale, by taking into account a large amount of information. This study presents the association of a water balance model (WetSpass) with a groundwater flow and solute transport model (SUFT3D, saturated and unsaturated flow and transport in 3D) in order to simulate the present and future groundwater quality in terms of nitrate in the Upper Dyle basin (439 km2) Belgium. The HFEMC (hybrid finite element mixing cell) method implemented in the SUFT3D code is used to model groundwater flow and nitrate transport. Spatially distributed recharge, modelled with WetSpass, is considered for prescribing the recharge to the groundwater flow model. The feasibility of linking the WetSpass model with the finite-elements SUFT3D code is demonstrated. Time evolution and distribution of nitrate concentration are then simulated using the calibrated model. Nitrate inputs are spatially distributed according to land use. The spatial simulations and temporal trends are compared with previously published data on this aquifer and show good results.  相似文献

Use of native soil in adsorption of phenol from industrial wastewater has been one of the attractive option for dephenolation, especially in view of low cost and ease in accessibility, as well as scope for regeneration (or, at least reuse). However, an effective usage of the adsorbent necessitates a deeper understanding of the adsorption characteristics. Most of the study of adsorption characteristics are confined to analysis of mono- and bi- parametric isotherm models (and rarely, linearized multi-parametric isotherm models), due to the difficulties in solving higher parametric models, as well as fairly satisfying results by lower-parametric models. In the present study, adsorption batch studies were carried out using a naturally and widely available common soil of south India (namely, Adhanur soil), for removal of phenol from the aqueous solution, with an explicit objective of comparison of linear and non-linear regression methods for finding variation in isotherm coefficients and fitness of the models. Six linearized isotherm models (including four linearized Langmuir models) and three non-linear isotherm model were discussed in this paper, and their coefficients were estimated. Although all the studied isotherm models showed fairly good fit to the experimental data, but Redlich—Peterson isotherm was found to be the best representative for phenol-sorption on the used soil adsorbent. Besides, it was observed that to determine the isotherm parameters non-linear isotherm models were found to be the best representative of adsorption characteristics, than their linearized counter-parts.  相似文献

Supernova 2002ic was an atypical Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) with evidence for substantial amounts of hydrogen associated with the system. Contrary to previous claims, we show that its unusual properties can be understood within the framework of one of the most favoured progenitor models, the so-called supersoft channel. This requires that the donor star was initially relatively massive  (∼3 M)  and that the system experienced a delayed dynamical instability, leading to a large amount of mass-loss from the system in the last few 104 yr before the explosion. This can produce the inferred hydrogen-rich circumstellar environment, most likely with a disc-like geometry. However, in order for this model to be feasible, it requires a larger accretion efficiency on to the white dwarf than is assumed in present parametrizations. If this is confirmed, it would most likely increase estimates for the frequency of the single-degenerate channel. Based on population synthesis simulations we estimate that not more than 1 in 100 SNe Ia should belong to this subgroup of SNe Ia.  相似文献
