Conclusion A simple method of estimating fracture porosity and permeability based on empirical relations between fracture aperture andJRC andJCS can be developed. This shows very close correlation with existing data, using simple discontinuity models. Summary ?The low-pressure eutectic for the coprecipitation of calcite, portlandite, and periclase/brucite (with H2O-rich vapor) has served as a model for the existence and crystallization of carbonatite magmas. Attempts to determine conditions
for the appearance of dolomite at this eutectic have been unsuccessful. We have discovered a second low-temperature eutectic
for more magnesian liquids which excludes portlandite and includes dolomite (all results are vapor-saturated). Addition of
Ca(OH)2-Mg(OH)2 to CaCO3-MgCO3 at 0.2 GPa depresses the liquidus to temperatures below the crest of the calcite-dolomite solvus; the vapor-saturated liquidus
surface falls steeply, and the field boundary for liquids coexisting with calcite and periclase reaches a peritectic at 880 °C,
where a narrow field for liquidus dolomite begins, extending down to the eutectic at 659 °C for the coprecipitation of calcite,
dolomite and periclase (brucite should replace periclase at slightly higher pressures). The calcite liquidus is very large.
The field boundary for coexistence of calcite and dolomite extends approximately in the direction from CaMg(CO3)2 towards Mg(OH)2. The results illustrate conditions for the formation of mineral-specific cumulates from variable magma compositions. Hydrous
(or sodic) carbonate-rich liquids with compositions from CaCO3 to CaMg(CO3)2 will precipitate calcite-carbonatites first, followed by calcite-dolomite-carbonatites, with the prospect of precipitating
dolomite-carbonatite alone through a limited temperature interval, and with periclase joining the assemblage in the closing
stages. Periclase in the Fe-free system may represent the ubiquitous occurrence of magnetite in natural carbonatites. The
restricted range for the precipitation of dolomite-carbonatites adds credibility to the evidence for primary magnesiocarbonatite
(near-dolomite composition) magmas. Magnesiocarbonatite magmas can precipitate much calcite-carbonatite rock.

Versuche die Bedingungen des Auftretens von Dolomit an diesem Eutektikum zu bestimmen blieben bisher ergebnislos. Wir entdeckten ein zweites Niedrigtemperatur-Eutektikum für magnesiumreichere Schmelzen, das Portlandit ausschlie?t, aber Dolomit inkludiert (alle Ergebnisse bei Fluids?ttigung). Die Zugabe von Ca(OH)2-Mg(OH)2 zu CaCO3-MgCO3 bei 0.2 GPa senkt den Liquidus auf Temperaturen unter die Solvus-Schwelle von Calcit-Dolomit. Die fluidges?ttigte Liquidusfl?che verl?uft steil und die Grenzfl?che von Schmelze, die mit Calcit und Periklas koexistiert erreicht ein Peritektikum bei 880 °C. Dort ?ffnet sich ein schmales Feld für Liquidus-Dolomit, das bis zum Eutektikum bei 659 °C reicht, an dem Calcit, Dolomit und Periklas (Brucit sollte Periklas bei geringfügig h?heren Drucken ersetzen) gemeinsam ausgeschieden werden. Der Calcit- Liquidus ist sehr gro?. Die Linie an der Calcit und Dolomit koexistieren erstreckt sich ungef?hr von CaMg(CO3)2 zu Mg(OH)2. Die Ergebnisse zeigen die Bildungsbedingungen für die Bildung mineralspezifischer Kumulate aus unterschiedlichen Magmenzusammensetzungen. Aus w?ssrigen (oder Na-reichen) karbonatreichen Schmelzen mit Zusammensetzungen zwischen CaCO3 und CaMg(CO3)2 werden sich zuerst Calcitkarbonatite und dann Calcit-Dolomitkarbonatite ausscheiden, mit der M?glichkeit Dolomitkarbonatite über ein sehr eingeschr?nktes Temperaturintervall zu bilden und mit Periklas, der zu dieser Vergesellschaftung im Endstadium hinzukommt. Periklas im Fe-freien System k?nnte das weitverbreitete Analog zu Magnetit in natürlichen Karbonatiten sein. Der enge Bereich für die Ausscheidung von Dolomitkarbonatiten untermauert die Existenz prim?rer magnesiokarbonatitischer Magmen (nahe der Zusammensetzung von Dolomit). Magnesiokarbonatitische Magmen k?nnen daher entsprechende Mengen an calcitkarbonatitischen Gesteinen ausscheiden.

Seismic vulnerability evaluation of axially loaded steel built-up laced members Ⅱ: evaluations 总被引:1,自引:2,他引:1
The test results described in Part 1 of this paper (Lee and Bruneau, 2008) on twelve steel built-up laced members (BLMs) subjected to quasi-static loading are analyzed to provide better knowledge on their seismic behavior. Strength capacity of the BLM specimens is correlated with the strength predicted by the AISC LRFD Specifications. Assessments of hysteretic properties such as ductility capacity, energy dissipation capacity, and strength degradation after buckling of the specimen are performed. The compressive strength of BLMs is found to be relatively well predicted by the AISC LRFD Specifications. BLMs with smaller kl/r were ductile but failed to reach the target ductility of 3.0 before starting to fracture, while those with larger kl/r could meet the ductility demand in most cases. The normalized energy dissipation ratio, EC/ET and the normalized compressive strength degradation, Cr″/Cr of BLMs typically decrease as normalized displacements δ/δb,exp increase, and the ratios for specimens with larger kl/r dropped more rapidly than for specimens with smaller kl/r; similar trends were observed for the monolithic braces. The BLMs with a smaller slenderness ratio, kl/r, and width-to-thickness ratio, b/t, experienced a larger number of inelastic cycles than those with larger ratios. 相似文献

We outline how ground-based Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) measurements of stratospheric trace species, obtained with high temporal resolution, could be used to detect filaments of polar vortex air at mid-latitudes and therefore test high spatial resolution chemical transport models (CTMs). Vertical column abundances of HCl, ClONO2, HNO3, N2O and HF have been obtained from FTIR solar absorption measurements made throughout the day from Aberdeen, UK (57°N, 2°W) on several days during winter/spring 1993/94 and 1994/95. The short-timescale ( 2 hours) variability observed in the columns is attributed to real atmospheric variations and is often associated with the passage of high latitude air over Aberdeen. This is confirmed by 3D modelling studies which qualitatively reproduce and rationalise the observed changes in the column data on January 19 1994, January 20 1995 and February 26 1995. We describe the viewing geometry of ground-based FTIR measurements and we suggest a measurement strategy which should maximise the information retrieved on horizontal gradients in stratospheric trace species columns from FTIR measurements. 相似文献

In this paper we report the results of the analysis of two 60-min wave events that occurred in a boreal aspen forest during the 1994 BOREAS (Boreal Ecosystems-Atmosphere Study) field experiment. High frequency wind and temperature data were provided by three 3-D sonic anemometer/thermometers and fourteen fine-wire thermocouples positioned within and above the forest. Wave phase speeds, estimated from information revealed by spectral analysis and linear plane wave equations, are 2.2 and 1.3 m s-1 for the two events. The wavelengths are 130 m and 65 m respectively and are much larger than the vertical wave displacements. There is strong evidence from the present analysis and from the literature supporting our postulate that these waves are generated by shear instability. We propose that wind shear near the top of the stand is often large enough to reduce the gradient Richardson number below the critical value of 0.25 and thus is able to trigger the instability. When external conditions are favorable, the instability will grow into waves. 相似文献

Aqueous extracts of two petroleum oils, No. 2 fuel oil and Southern Louisiana crude, were tested on two amphipods, Gammarus muccronatus and Amphithoe valida, for survival. The oils were toxic at concentrations of 0.8 ppm (fuel oil) and 2.4 ppm (S. Louisiana crude). Mortalities increased with the concentration and length of exposure. Few or no young were produced at these and higher concentrations (breeding adults were decreasing rapidly in numbers). The amphipods are more sensitive to aqueous extracts of these oils than benthic polychaetes and shrimp, for which data are available. 相似文献

Assessment of the changes in extreme vulnerability over East Asia due to global warming 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A number of indices have been employed to describe weather extremes on the basis of climate regimes and public concerns. In this study, we combined these traditional indices into four groups according to whether they relate to warm (Twarm), cold (Tcold), wet (Pwet), or dry (Pdry) extremes. Analysis of the combined indices calculated for the daily temperatures and precipitation at 750 meteorological stations in Korea, China, and Japan for 1960s?C2000s shows increasing trends in Twarm and Pdry events and decreasing trends in Tcold events in recent decades, particularly in the northern part of East Asia. A notable regional variation is an increase in the Pwet events in the Korean Peninsula. We applied the same analysis to a 200-year global climate model simulation for 1900?C2099 using the National Center for Atmospheric Research-Community Climate System Model 3. During the 20th century, the changes in Twarm and Tcold calculated from the model data are largely consistent with those calculated from the observations, especially in northern East Asia. The model projections for the 21st century indicate statistically significant increasing Twarm and decreasing Tcold trends in extreme events over the region. Results obtained from historical archives and model simulations using our combined weather extreme indices suggest that northern East Asia will be subject to increased warm and dry extremes and the Korea Peninsula will experience more wet extremes. 相似文献
