A moment method for analysing the stochastic stability of the surge motion of a tethered buoyant platform (TBP) in a random sea is examined. In the differential equation describing the surge motion the variation of tether tension caused by the vertical component of the wave forces is random-time dependent in form. The asymptotic moment behaviour of the solution is determined and approximated in terms of an integral equation. Under the assumption of a narrow band process imposed upon the random coefficient, the stability results are obtained with the aid of deterministic stability theory. The mean square stability is studied and criteria for stability are obtained in terms of the damping coefficient and the auto-correlation function of the random sea. 相似文献

Two independent methods of paleobathymetry, applicable to hydrocarbon-derived carbonates, are explored in this study. The oxygen isotope method exploits the temperature decline with depth that leaves a measurable imprint on the
18O composition of pristine products of venting comprised of aragonites and dolomites. The other method makes use of the bathymetric preferences of benthic foraminiferal taxa entrapped in the carbonate buildups. These two methods were tested on the calcari aLucina limestones hosted in turbidites and mudstones infilling the Miocene-age Marnoso-arenacea basin. The limestone blocks, rich in fossils of chemosymbiotic-like fauna, preserve a 10-Ma record of hydrocarbon venting from Langhian to lower Messinian times. Our results indicate that carbonate accretion and lithification occurred at upper bathyal depths in waters not shallower than 200–250 m. The
18O of venting products contains the imprints of profound hydrographic changes that occurred in the ancient Mediterranean basin from the lower Serravallian to the lower Messinian. 相似文献

The current study focuses on the response analysis of triangular tension leg platform (TLP) for different wave approach angles varying from 0° through 90° and its influence on the coupled dynamic response of triangular TLPs. Hydrodynamic loading is modeled using Stokes fifth-order nonlinear wave theory along with various other nonlinearities arising caused by change in tether tension and change in buoyancy caused by set down effect. Low frequency surge oscillations and high frequency tension oscillations of tethers are ignored in the analysis. Results show that wave approach angle influences the coupled dynamic response of triangular TLP in all degrees of freedom except heave. Response in roll and sway degrees of freedom are activated which otherwise are not present in TLP's response to unidirectional waves. Pitch and roll responses are highly stochastic in nature indicating high degree of randomness. Variation in surge, sway and heave responses are nonlinear and are not proportional to change in wave height for the same period. 相似文献

Numerous studies have been carried out during last 20-25 years by different agencies to trace the courses of palaeo river
Sarasvati. Varying number of courses of river Sarasvati have been suggested by the different workers in the north-western
region. Taking advantage of the developments in satellite/ sensor and digital image processing technologies an attempt has
been made to rediscover the course of river Sarasvati and solve the controversy regarding its exact course, in the sand covered
Thar desert region. Data available from a variety of ground investigations carried out by different agencies working in this
area have been analyzed in support of confirmation of palaeo channels, along the courses mapped under the present study. The
results indicate that the river Sarasvati had its course through river Ghaggar and did not drain along the Aravalli hills.
Also it did not shift its course drastically and continuously from east to west, as suggested by earlier workers. The image
anomalies indicate that river Sarasvati flowed parallel to the river Indus as an independent river system (closer to the north-western
Indian border) and did not flow through present course of river Nara. The findings raise the doubt that ‘Rise along Delhi-Hardwar
ridge’ as suggested by earlier workers was the main cause for west-ward shift of Sarasvati river and ultimate drainage desiccation
in the northwestern region. The analysis indicates towards rise in Himalayas/ Siwaliks and consequent displacements in the
Siwaliks and its foot hills region (in the form of Yamuna and Satlej tear faults) as the main cause for drainage desiccation

A database of ground vibration due to blasting at 27 limestone quarries, located in various parts of India, has been created. The database contains peak particle velocity (PPV), frequency, other vibration related and blast design parameters. Regression analysis of the data is carried out to derive site constants of the USBM predictor equation for individual quarries. It is found that these site constants are correlated with each other. By combining all the data, a generalised predictor equation is developed to assess and control ground vibration. In addition, mean zone of attenuation has been delineated using the predictor equations of the individual quarries. The dominant frequency of ground vibration with respect to distance and the possibility of modifying it by changing delay intervals in production blasts are also examined. 相似文献

Site response in and around Delhi is studied using digital seismograms recorded by a thirteen-station VSAT-based 24-bit digital
Delhi telemetry network of the India Meteorological Department. Nine local (M
l ≥ 2.3) and nine regional (M
l ≥ 3.9) earthquakes are selected for the estimation of site amplification factor using the classical standard spectral ratio
for regional events (Ridge Delhi Observatory being the reference station), normalized standard spectral ratio for local events,
horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio or receiver function and the generalized inversion techniques in the frequency range
of 0.5 to 7.5 Hz. Site response curves at all the thirteen stations exhibit station to station variation of the site amplification
factor reflecting the changes in geologic/geotectonic/soil conditions. A comparison of the site response values obtained by
the generalized inversion with those computed using receiver function technique shows a large scatter even though the pattern
of the curves remain more or less similar. However, the site effects computed by generalized inversion and standard spectral
ratio exhibit a good 1:1 correspondence. The peaks yielded by all the methods have been observed to occur at the same frequencies.
It is evident that the softer fluvial deposits of the newer alluvium of the east Yamuna sector show steeper site amplification
gradient at lower frequencies, while the greater Delhi experiences moderate site amplification. The variation of site response
corroborates the abrupt changes in intensity from one location to another due to local site condition. 相似文献
