The change of source characteristics during the transition from the impulsive phase to the post-burst phase is investigated for cm bursts on a statistical basis. The results are the following: (1) The sudden decrease of the circular polarization degree is found almost invariably at the transition; typically from 20–30% down to a few percent. (2) Some bursts show remarkable source expansions in the post-burst phase. There are no cases in which impulsive bursts have larger source size than the associated post-burst increases. (3) Type III bursts which are indicative of non-thermal phenomena are associated with the impulsive phase but not with the post-burst phase. Implications of these observed results are discussed.  相似文献

The present study proposes an atmospheric correction scheme for Advanced Earth Observation Satellite II (ADEOS-II)/Global Imager (GLI) ocean color retrieval that corrects for the atmospheric absorptive aerosol effect. Radiative transfer simulations were conducted assuming a non-absorptive model aerosol with a soot-type aerosol at various mixture ratios. The results indicate that while the spectral dependency of aerosol reflectance does not change in the longer (>550 nm) wavelength region, the reflectance at shorter wavelengths is highly variable and depends on the mixture ratio. The influence of aerosol absorption was also investigated using GLI data from ocean areas adjacent to Japan in the presence of absorptive Siberian fire smoke aerosol in the spring of 2003. The spectral curvature of the aerosol was estimated from the data obtained. An empirical, iterative scheme that detects and evaluates the influence of absorptive aerosols was developed by comparing 380 nm GLI-observed aerosol reflectance with predicted reflectances derived using an in-water optical model. To evaluate the performance of this scheme, satellite-derived normalized water-leaving radiances were compared with those measured from a ferry servicing Nagasaki and Fukue. The results of data acquired on March 20, 2003, indicate that this absorption correction scheme improved root mean square estimation error for normalized water-leaving radiance by approximately 40% in the 380, 400, and 412 nm bands. This atmospheric correction algorithm was used as a part of the second version of the GLI standard ocean color data process system at Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).  相似文献

Abstract Ca-Al-rich inclusions (CAIs) in the Yamato-791717 CO carbonaceous chondrite contain 5 to 80 vol% of nepheline, along with minor sodalite, and thus are among the most nepheline-rich CAIs known. The primary phases in inclusions are mainly spinel, fassaite, aluminous diopside, perovskite, and hibonite. In contrast to many CO chondrites, melilite is rare. Spinel contains variable amounts of Fe (0 to 57 mol% FeAl2O4) and is commonly zoned. Texture suggests that nepheline is a secondary alteration product formed by replacing mainly melilite, fassaite, and spinel; melilite is the most susceptible to alteration of the primary phases, so most of it was probably already consumed to form nepheline. The majority of inclusions are single concentric objects or aggregates of concentric objects. Lightly altered inclusions have cores of spinel surrounded by bands of nepheline (replacing fassaite), fassaite, and diopside. In moderately altered inclusions, spinel cores are replaced by nepheline. In heavily altered inclusions, the major part of internal areas (50 to 80% in volume) are replaced by nepheline. In some moderately and heavily altered inclusions, only diopside rims remain unaltered. Textural relationships indicate that the resistance of primary phases to alteration increases in the order melilite, fassaite, spinel, diopside. The alteration probably proceeded with reaction of the primary phases with the low-temperature (≤ 1000 K) nebular gas rich in Na, Fe and CI. The degree of alteration in Y791717 CAIs appears to be much higher than those in CAIs in other reported meteorites.  相似文献

In this paper, we make a study about the influence of the coefficients of the geopotential C4,m and S4,m, (m=1,2,3,4) on the nutation, starting from the Hamiltonian theory as developed by Kinoshita (1977).We obtain ten coefficients larger than 0.05 μ as for the nutation in longitude and six for the nutation in obliquity. The present results are included in the reconstruction of the theory of nutation (REN‐2000) at the level of truncation of 0.1 μ as (Souchay et al., 1997). In order to produce a high-quality sea surface temperature (SST) data set, the daily amplitude of SST (ΔSST) should be accurately known. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diurnal variation of sea surface temperature in a simple manner. The authors first simulated ΔSST with a one-dimensional numerical model using buoy-observed meteorological data and satellite-derived solar radiation data. When insolation is strong, the model-simulated 1-m-depth ΔSST becomes much smaller than the in situ value as wind speed decreases. By forcibly mixing the sea surface layer, the model ΔSST becomes closer to the in situ value. It can be considered that part of this difference is due to the turbulence induced by the buoy hull. Then, on the assumption that the model results were reliable, the authors derived a regression equation to evaluate ΔSST at the skin and 1-m depth from daily mean wind speed (U) and daily peak solar radiation (PS). ΔSST is approximately proportional to In(U) and (PS)2, and the skin ΔSST estimated by the equation is not inconsistent with in situ observation results reported in past studies. The authors prepared maps of PS and U using only satellite data, and demonstrated the ΔSST evaluation over a wide area. The result showed that some wide patchy areas where the skin ΔSST exceeds 3.0 K can appear in the tropics and the mid-latitudes in summer. Abstract— A new insight into carbon and hydrogen isotope variations of insoluble organic matter (IOM) is provided from seven CM chondrites, including Murchison and six Antarctic meteorites (Y‐791198, Y‐793321, A‐881280, A‐881334, A‐881458 and B‐7904) as well as Murchison IOM residues after hydrous pyrolysis at 270–330 °C for 72 h. Isotopic compositions of bulk carbon (δ13Cbulk) and hydrogen (δD) of the seven IOMs vary widely, ranging from ?15.1 to ?7.6%0 and +133 to +986%0, respectively. Intramolecular carboxyl carbon (δ13CCOOH) is more enriched in 13C by 7.5. 11%0 than bulk carbon. After hydrous pyrolysis of Murchison IOM at 330 °C, H/C ratio, δ13Cbulk, δ13CCOOH, and δD values decrease by up to 0.31, 3.5%0, 5.5%0, and 961%0, respectively. The O/C ratio increases from 0.22 to 0.46 at 270 °C and to 0.25 at 300 °C, and decreases to 0.10 at 330 °C. δ13Cbulk‐δD cross plot of Murchison IOM and its pyrolysis residues shows an isotopic sequence. Of the six Antarctic IOMs, A‐881280, A‐881458, Y‐791198 and B‐7904 lie on or near the isotopic sequence depending on the degree of hydrous and/or thermal alteration, while A‐881334 and Y‐793321 consist of another distinct isotope group. A δ13Cbulk‐δ13CCOOH cross‐plot of IOMs, including Murchison pyrolysis residues, has a positive correlation between them, implying that the oxidation process to produce carboxyls is similar among all IOMs. These isotope distributions reflect various degree of alteration on the meteorite parent bodies and/or difference in original isotopic compositions before the parent body processes.  相似文献

To establish the relative importance of terrigenous and marine organic matter in the southern Beaufort Sea, we measured the concentrations and the stable isotopic compositions of organic carbon and total nitrogen in sediments and in settling particles intercepted by sediment traps. The organic carbon content of surface sediment in the Chukchi and southern Beaufort Seas ranged from 0.6 to 1.6% dry wt., without a clear geographical pattern. The CORG:NTOT ratio ranged from 7.0 to 10.4 and did not vary significantly downcore at any one station. Values of δ13CORG and δ15NTOT in the sediment samples were strongly correlated, with the highest values, indicative of a more marine contribution, in the Amundsen Gulf. In contrast, the organic matter content, elemental (CORG:NTOT ratio) and isotopic (δ13CORG and δ15NTOT) composition of the settling particles was different from and much more variable than in the bottom sediments. The isotopic signature of organic matter in the Beaufort Sea is well constrained by three distinct end-members: a labile marine component produced in situ by planktonic organisms, a refractory marine component, the end product of respiration and diagenesis, and a refractory terrigenous component. A three-component mixing model explains the scatter observed in the stable isotope signatures of the sediment trap samples and accommodates an apparent two-component mixing model of the organic matter in sediments. The suspended matter in the water column contains organic matter varying from essentially labile and marine to mostly refractory and terrigenous. As it settles through the water column, the labile marine organic matter is degraded, and its original stable isotope signature changes towards the signature of the marine refractory component. This process continues in the bottom sediment with the result that the sedimentary organic matter becomes dominated by the refractory terrigenous and marine components.  相似文献

Theoretically, the geostrophic approximation holds for the low-frequency flow field, but no detailed examination has been done on how well the estimated geostrophic velocity corresponds with the observed velocity. Intensive surveys were carried out during 1993–1995 in the Kuroshio and its recirculation regions south of Shikoku, Japan, including repeated hydrographic surveys and direct current measurements at nominal depths of 700, 1500 and 3000 m. For these depth intervals, vertical differences of estimated geostrophic velocity are compared with those of observed velocity. For the intermediate layer (between 700 and 1500 m depths), the slope of the regression line is 0.99, correlation coefficient is 0.98, and the root-mean-square of difference from geostrophic balance is 2.8 cm/s which is close to the estimated error of 2.1 cm/s. For the deep layer (between 1500 and 3000 m depths), the corresponding values are 0.82, 0.93, 1.2 cm/s and 2.0 cm/s, respectively. The results indicate that the estimated geostrophic velocity compares well with the observed velocity in these regions.
