A method is developed which for a certain day permits the approximate calculation of closed small and large scale magnetic field lines. From the photospheric longitudinal components of the magnetic field measured at this day normal components are derived taking into account the curvature of the solar surface. The magnetic fields are assumed to be potential or force-free fields.The method is applied to observations of September 5 and September 7, 1973. The projected magnetic field lines are compared with the loop structures which are visible in XUV pictures taken on these days. When using monitoring wells for investigation of contaminant sources in clayey till, there is a high risk that fractures may cause mobile contaminants to bypass the monitoring wells. This paper indicates that the probability of interception between monitoring wells and hydraulic conductive fractures is often significantly less than 50%. Based on a field experiment and application of a calibrated discrete fracture matrix diffusion numerical model (FRAC3Dvs), the paper also evaluates pesticide-monitoring results for different positions of monitoring well screen relative to fractures. For well screens situated 0.25 and 2 m from a conductive fracture, the first concentrations of the pesticide metabolite (2,6 dichlorobenzamide, "BAM") would be measured two years and 18 years, respectively, after the contaminant had been transported into an underlying aquifer. In this way, underlying aquifers may be subjected to contamination by downward moving contamination without being observed in monitoring wells in the till. 相似文献

This paper focuses on the aspects of fully coupled continuum modeling of multiphase poroelasticity applied to the three-dimensional
numerical simulations of the Ekofisk oil reservoir in the North Sea (56°29′–34′N, 03°10′–14′E). A systematic presentation
is chosen to present the methodology behind fully coupled, continuum modeling. First, a historical review of the subsidence
phenomena above an oil and gas reservoir is given. This will serve as a background against which the relevance of the present
approach to compaction and subsidence modeling will be demonstrated. Following this, the governing equations for a multiphase
poroelasticity model are briefly presented. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the pore-compressibility term
usually used in an uncoupled approach for characterising the host-rock deformation. A comparative numerical analysis is carried
out to contrast and highlight the difference between coupled and uncoupled reservoir simulators. Finally, a finite-element
numerical model of the Ekofisk field is presented and a significant result is a contour map of seabed subsidence which is
in general agreement with the shape of the subsidence contours based on past bathymetric surveys. Analysis of the simulation
reveals that, due to the downward movement of the overburden, oil migration occurs from the crest of the anticline in which
the field is situated, towards the flank. The pore-pressure depletion in the reservoir is significantly delayed due to the
replenishment of the reservoir energy via the formational compaction. Horizontal movement in the reservoir, which is neglected
in traditional modeling, can be significant and comparable in magnitude to the vertical subsidence.

Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models were used to forecast precipitation. Three-layer back propagation ANNs were trained with actual monthly precipitation data from six Czech and four Hungarian meteorological stations for the period 1961-1998. The predicted amounts are the next month's precipitation. Both training and testing ANN results provided a good fit with the actual data and displayed high feasibility in predicting extreme precipitation. 相似文献

Consecutive phases of de-icing of ice-cored moraines and the formation of dead-ice moraine were monitored over a 4-year period at the terminus of the Kötlujökull glacier, Iceland. Particularly, the transition from partially ice-cored moraine with isolated dead-ice blocks to the ice-free landscape receives attention in this paper in order to link the final melting processes to the architecture of the sedimentary end product. In the current humid sub-polar climate of south Iceland de-icing of partially ice-cored moraines results chiefly from melting along the bottom surface of ice-cores with an annual average rate of 25 cm. The final de-icing is associated with an interrelated group of re-sedimentation processes and surface features. Series of sinkholes evolve at the toe of dead-ice blocks, which initiate retrogressive rotational sliding or backslumping of the ice-cored slopes and the formation of distinct edges and fractures in the adjacent basins. Although backslumping is the dominant process in this phase of re-sedimentation, structures resulting from this process are rarely recognized in the ice-free landscape. As ice-cores gradually diminish the effect of the latest re-sedimentation events will overprint or destroy most existing sedimentary characteristics. Thus, in the ice-free landscape, structures mainly related to the formation of sinkholes and fractures remain imprinted on the sediment succession. Generally, no inversion of the topography occurs during the final phase of de-icing. The overall topography recognized in the late phase of the fully ice-cored terrain is merely lowered and the amplitude of the relief reduced as de-icing progresses. The sediment architecture of the ice-free landscape is characterized by heterogeneous and often slumped diamict sediments with variable thickness and lateral distribution; clast orientation is related to the direction of slopes, and boulders are found in isolated groups or in linear arrangements. 相似文献

Summary Time varying coordinates of points of a geodetic network are indirectly measured by a group of measurement devices with different characteristics of accuracy in several epochs. The design of the measurement is the same in all epochs. The ratio of the characteristics of accuracy is a priori unknown. The aim is to determine an estimator of the parameters of functions modelling changes of the coordinates, confidence regions of these functions and to construct a procedure for testing linear hypotheses on time varying coordinates of a geodetic network. As the characteristics of accuracy are a priori unknown, the problem of their estimation has to be solved simultaneously. Hydrothermal grossular-andradite garnets from contact aureoles in the Oslo region show morphological transitions from planar via cellular to hopper-like structures. Dodecahedral surfaces {110} dominate during the planar growth stage, whereas the stable crystal faces, developed during the cellular and hopper stages also includes the ikositetrahedron {211} and possibly the hexoctahedron {321}. Faceted cells develope when initially ‘wavy’ perturbations on the dodecahedral surfaces become tangential to lower-index planar surfaces. Inclusion patterns and morphologies of almandinerich garnets from Magerøy (northernmost Norway) that formed during a period of rapid heating, suggest an early stage of cellular growth followed by planar growth. The morphological transitions suggest that the hydrothermal garnets experienced an increase in the overstepping of the garnet precipitation reaction at some stage during their growth whereas the opposite was the case during growth of the Magerøy garnets. The present observations put constraints on the garnet growth rates and emphasize the importance of growth kinetics during metamorphic processes. 相似文献
