The Middle Member of the Zorritas Formation in the Antofagasta region of northern Chile, yielded terrestrial and marine palynomorph assemblages which span the Devonian/Carboniferous boundary. The assemblages show a clear predominance of terrestrial palynomorphs with 70 miospore species, 18 marine phytoplankton species, two non-marine algae and one chitinozoan species, all coming from 15 productive levels. Palynomorphs are poorly preserved and most of them are reworked. Three palynological associations are recognized based on miospores. These are assigned to the Tournaisian–Visean, Tournaisian and probable latest Famennian. Age assignments are discussed in the frame of the spore zonal schemes established for Euramerica and western Gondwana. The stratigraphical distribution of spores allows the identification of the probable position of the Devonian/Carboniferous boundary within the Zorritas Formation. This system boundary is proposed for the first time in Palaeozoic sedimentary rocks of northern Chile. The presence of Gondwanan typical miospore species indicates affinities with this palaeocontinent even though the Tournaisian and Tournaisian–Visean miospore associations support the cosmopolitanism already suggested for the early Carboniferous flora. The significant number of reworked palynomorphs together with the sedimentological analysis of the studied sections, suggest that these deposits were severely impacted by the climatic change and major sea level fluctuations. Similar conditions were recorded in coeval western Gondwana basins.  相似文献

An analytical error analysis of profile-derived fluxes of heat, moisture, and momentum, along with stability and roughness length, is performed using the accuracies of the constituent temperature, humidity, and wind speed measurements. Five experiments, representing more than two thirds of the existing marine profile data presently contained in the literature, are compared. Much of the profile data examined was used to develop the transfer coefficients presently employed by a large number of competing bulk aerodynamic flux schemes. Depending upon the experiment, typical profile-method measurement errors were found to range from 15 to 35% for a sensible heat flux of ± 10 W m-2, from 15 to 105% for a latent heat flux of ± 100 W m-2, from 10 to 40% for a stress of 0.05 N m-2, from 15 to 60% for a Monin-Obukhov stability of ± 0.05, and from 25 to 100% for a roughness length of 2 × 10-4 m. Smaller magnitude flux values were found to contain typical errors as large as 100% for sensible heat flux, 300% for latent heat flux, and 60% for stress.  相似文献

An algal culture of Botryococcus braunii race A and its residue obtained after 201 days of oxic biodegradation are characterized using high resolution magic angle spinning (HRMAS) NMR spectroscopy, a hybrid technique which provides molecular details non-invasively. The high resolution of two dimensional NMR using HRMAS gives precise structural assignments of different classes of compounds contained in the initial algae and biodegraded algae. The data indicate that some intracellular lipids and proteinaceous materials are more environmentally labile while other long chain polymethylenic structures with ether functional groups, likely from algaenan, are observed to survive the degradation process. The identification of similar structural entities in both fresh and degraded material clearly points to selective preservation as the main process responsible for the early diagenetic transformation of this type of algae.  相似文献

This study describes a new approach for characterizing high molecular weight compounds in Type I kerogen, involving both nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and Fourier transform ion cyclotron mass spectrometry (FTICR-MS). Kerogen isolated from the Mahogany zone of the Green River Formation was examined directly using high resolution magic angle spinning (HRMAS) NMR to obtain liquid-like multidimensional spectra. It was then successively extracted with n-pentane, dichloromethane and pyridine. Pyridine extraction was also performed for comparison with the successive extractions. Using solid-state NMR, we show that the sum of the successive extracts and the single pyridine extract are quantitatively representative of the unextracted kerogen. This suggests that a non-invasive characterization of Green River kerogen can be obtained by examining the soluble extracts, all of which were subjected to ESI-FTICR-MS to identify a wide series of compounds. Series of polar CHO, CHOS and CHON compounds between C12 and C50+ were found. In all the extracts the two homologous series of acids (CnH2nO2 and CnH2n−2O4) dominated. Collision-induced dissociation was also employed to identify the different functional groups comprising the different series. The CHO series contained carboxylic acid and alkoxyl groups, whereas the CHOS and CHON series contained sulfoxide groups and nitrile-type compounds. The results also show that pyridine extraction can be used either for screening a large series of samples or for the specific study of CHO compounds. However for a detailed and complete study of the different homologous series we recommend using the successive extraction protocol.  相似文献

Hazard and risk assessment of landslides with potentially long run-out is becoming more and more important. Numerical tools exploiting different constitutive models, initial data and numerical solution techniques are important for making the expert’s assessment more objective, even though they cannot substitute for the expert’s understanding of the site-specific conditions and the involved processes. This paper presents a depth-integrated model accounting for pore water pressure dissipation and applications both to real events and problems for which analytical solutions exist. The main ingredients are: (i) The mathematical model, which includes pore pressure dissipation as an additional equation. This makes possible to model flowslide problems with a high mobility at the beginning, the landslide mass coming to rest once pore water pressures dissipate. (ii) The rheological models describing basal friction: Bingham, frictional, Voellmy and cohesive-frictional viscous models. (iii) We have implemented simple erosion laws, providing a comparison between the approaches of Egashira, Hungr and Blanc. (iv) We propose a Lagrangian SPH model to discretize the equations, including pore water pressure information associated to the moving SPH nodes.  相似文献

Pure white marble has been considered a valuable ornamental and architectural material since ancient times. Many scientific techniques have been used to create an extensive data base of “finger-prints” characterizing white marbles from the major classical quarries. However, determining the provenance of white marbles is a difficult task due to their similarity in physical and chemical parameters. Three techniques (petrography, cathodoluminescence and stable C and O isotopes) have been used to characterize white marbles from the ancient quarries of the Iberian Peninsula. Maximum grain size, texture and isotopic composition can be used to identify the different quarries. Each area is generally represented by several cathodomicrofacies, but quantitative CL analysis is also helpful in distinguishing those quarries for which the data provided by other techniques are not sufficiently diagnostic. The database and the discriminating criteria presented in this study have been tentatively applied to some ancient sculptures from the National Museum of Roman Art in Merida (Spain).  相似文献

The wavelength and Einstein A coefficient are calculated for all rotation–vibration transitions of  4He1H+, 3He1H+, 4He2H+  and  3 He2H+  , giving a complete line list and the partition function for  4HeH+  and its isotopologues. This opacity is included in the calculation of the total opacity of low-metallicity stars and its effect is analysed for different conditions of temperature, density and hydrogen number fraction. For a low helium number fraction (as in the Sun), it is found that HeH+ has a visible but small effect for very low densities  (ρ≤ 10−10 g cm−3)  , at temperatures around 3500 K. However, for high helium number fraction, the effect of HeH+ becomes important for higher densities  (ρ≤ 10−6 g cm−3)  , its effect being most important for a temperature around 3500 K. Synthetic spectra for a variety of different conditions are presented.  相似文献

The installation and operation of a telescope in Antarctica represent particular challenges, in particular the requirement to operate at extremely cold temperatures, to cope with rapid temperature fluctuations and to prevent frosting. Heating of electronic subsystems is a necessity, but solutions must be found to avoid the turbulence induced by temperature fluctuations on the optical paths. ASTEP 400 is a 40cm Newton telescope installed at the Concordia station, Dome C since 2010 for photometric observations of fields of stars and their exoplanets. While the telescope is designed to spread star light on several pixels to maximize photometric stability, we show that it is nonetheless sensitive to the extreme variations of the seeing at the ground level (between about 0′′.1 and 5′′) and to temperature fluctuations between –30°C and –80 °C. We analyze both day‐time and night‐time observations and obtain the magnitude of the seeing caused by the mirrors, dome and camera. The most important effect arises from the heating of the primary mirror which gives rise to a mirror seeing of 0′′.23 K–1. We propose solutions to mitigate these effects.
