This paper describes the use of pyroxene compounds of clinopiroxene in mafic and ultramafic rocks (inclusions and layered outcrops) in the Canary Islands as geobarometric indicators of the depth of formation of different rock types. The upper mantle origin of peridotite and gabbro inclusions was confirmed, while a crustal character is proposed for the layered complexes. Finally, a scheme of Canary substrate is outlined.  相似文献

A summary of the available data on the peralkaline rocks of S. Pietro and S. Antioco islands, together with, new chemical analyses and some preliminary K-Ar ages are reported. Peralkaline rocks occur as ignimbrites, lava flows and domes usually deeply affected by hydrothermal alteration. Pantelleritic varieties are found within the dominantly comenditic association, which display K2O contents higher than Na2O ones. K-Ar data indicate that these peralkaline rocks have a middle Miocene age (? 15 m.y.). They occur in close field association with coheval andesitic and subalkaline acid volcanics belonging to the final products of the Tertiary calc-alkaline volcanic cicle of Sardinia.  相似文献

Forest fires and post-fire practices influence sediment connectivity (SC). In this study, we use the ‘aggregated index of connectivity’ (AIC) to assess SC in five Mediterranean catchments (198–1090 ha) affected by a wildfire in 2012 in south-eastern Spain. Two temporal scenarios were considered, immediately after the fire and before post-fire management, and 2 years after the fire including all practices (hillslope barriers, check-dams, afforestation, salvage logging and skid trails). One LiDAR (light detection and ranging)-derived digital elevation model (DEM, 2 m × 2 m resolution) was generated, per scenario. The five catchment outlets were established as the computation target (AICOUT), and structural and functional SC were calculated. Index outputs were normalized to make the results of the non-nested catchments comparable (AICN-OUT). The output analysis includes the SC distribution along the catchments and at local scale (929 sub-catchments, 677 in the burned area), the hillslope and channel measures' effect on SC, and a sedimentological analysis using observed area-specific sediment yield (SSY) at 10 new (built after post-fire practices) concrete check-dams located in the catchments (SSY = 1.94 Mg ha−1 yr−1; σ = 1.22). The catchments with more circular shapes and steeper slopes were those with higher AICN-OUT. The structural SC maps – removing the rainfall erosivity influence – allowed evaluating the actual role played by the post-fire practices that reduced SC ( x¯= − 1.19%; σ = 0.41); while functional SC was linked to the actual change of SC ( x¯= + 5.32%; σ = 0.62). Hillslope treatments resulted in significant changes on AICN-OUT at sub-catchment scale with certain disconnectivity. A good and positive correlation was found between the SSY and the changes of AICN-OUT. However, the coarse DEM resolution explained the lack of effect of the rock check-dams – located on the secondary channels – on AICN-OUT. AICN-OUT proved to be a useful tool for decision making in post-fire restoration, but an optimal input data is still necessary to refine calculations.  相似文献

The present paper offers an alternative point of view of block regularization for the motion of a particle in a central potential field of the form –x , where x is the distance between the particle and the source and some positive real number.Working in the physical space, we consider the scattering angle determined by the path of the particle as a function of angular momentum. We prove that a particle flow is passing over the collision singularity preserving differentiability with respect to initial data if and only if = 2(1–1/n), n positive integer, n 2.This result coincides with the outcome of block regularization applied by McGehee to the same dynamical problem. We discuss that this identity was to expect since both methods target the same physical constraint over the flow.  相似文献

The Palomares Fault Zone (PFZ) is one of the main strike-slip brittle shear zones found in the Betics. It is segmented in several faults that have been active between the Upper Tortonian and present day. Data from drill cores in the Palomares area have permitted us to define the geometry and location of sedimentary depocentres related with the PFZ. These data show an eastward displacement between the Upper Tortonian to Messinian and the Pliocene–Quaternary sedimentary depocentres, towards the presently active Arteal fault, which bounds the western mountain front of Sierra Almagrera, showing that deformation along this fault zone has migrated towards the east, from the Palomares segment, with its main activity during the Upper Tortonian and Messinian, towards the Arteal fault, active during the Pliocene and Quaternary. Summary A long series of maximum and minimum daily temperatures recorded at the Fabra Observatory (Barcelona) from 1917 to 1998 has permitted a detailed study of significant hot and cold events, based on the crossing theory and on the Markovian process. The former allows us to obtain statistical distributions of the number of hot and cold events per year, the starting date and the magnitude of an event. The Poisson, the normal and the exponential distributions are the respective models. On the other hand, the Markovian process estimates probabilities for the duration of several hot and cold events above or below different temperature threshold levels. It should be stressed that the threshold levels, which define the significant hot and cold events, are almost coincident with those whose lengths follow a Markovian process. From a more applied point of view, two examples of hot and cold events of high magnitude are shown and their associated synoptic situations discussed. Some other typical synoptic situations leading to relevant hot and cold events in Barcelona and the surrounding areas are also summarised. Received March 1, 2001 Revised July 30, 2001  相似文献

Land-sea climatic proxies have been obtained from the Last Glacial section of IMAGES core MD95-2043 (western Mediterranean Sea). Vegetation and alkenone derived SST curves indicate rapid (~150 years) and synchronous terrestrial and marine climatic changes, paralleling the Dansgaard-Oeschger (D-O) climatic variability over Greenland. This frequency of climate change can be related to shifts between the two modes of operation of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO). Transfer functions applied to the pollen data indicate that there was an amplification of the climatic signal during Heinrich events (HEs) in comparison with other D-O stadials. The development and persistence of both Scandinavian and Atlantic Mobile Polar Highs over southwestern Europe may explain the extreme cooling (~10 °C) and dryness (400 mm) during Heinrich events 5 and 4 in the Mediterranean region. Comparison of the results of core MD95-2043 with similar climatic data from IMAGES core MD95-2042, located off Portugal, indicates that thermal and precipitation gradients occurred between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic sides of Iberia within HEs. HEs 4 and 5 are associated with more humid conditions in the Atlantic (by 200 mm) than in the Mediterranean site, as is the case at the present time. This comparison also illustrates the different behaviour of these areas during the D-O stadials. In contrast with the Mediterranean site, the Atlantic site shows similar precipitation and temperature drops for all the D-O stadials, including those related to the HEs. Here we propose the operation of different Mobile Polar Highs (MPH) as the driving mechanism for this difference in behaviour between the Atlantic and Mediterranean sides of Iberia. HEs are related to a stronger influence of the Scandinavian MPH, forcing a severe aridification and cooling of the full Iberian Peninsula. The Atlantic MPH may have been dominant during the other stadials, which would preferentially affect Southwestern Iberia.  相似文献

A new world-class stratiform magnesite deposit has been recently discovered near the village of Borobia in Soria, Spain. The mineralization consists of a 25-45 m massive to banded magnesite layer sandwiched in between a Lower Cambrian carbonate formation and an upper shale horizon. It forms an arcuate belt striking NW-SE to W-E, which outcrops for 7.3 km in two elevations separated by a central valley that is covered by a thin layer of Pleistocene sediments. The orebody is confined by two regionally important faults and is probably associated with the dolomitization and silicification of the Cambrian limestones. Geological ore resources are estimated to exceed 175 Mt with MgO contents varying from 36 to 47% by weight. At present, the owners, Magnesitas y Dolomías de Borobia, S.L., are at an advanced stage of planning for extraction. This report presents some results of an ongoing geological exploration programme and shows the general features of the geology and mineralogy of the Borobia deposit.  相似文献
