The ultrarelativistic generalized Lorentzian quasi-equilibrium thermodynamic energy distribution is tentatively applied to the energy spectrum of galactic cosmic ray fluxes. It is found that the inferred power law slopes contain a component which evolves with cosmic ray energy in steps of thirds, resembling the sequence of structure functions in fully developed Kolmogorov turbulence. Within the generalized thermodynamics the chemical potential is estimated from the deviation of the fluxes at decreasing energy, presumably throwing light on the cosmic ray acceleration mechanism. A relation between involved turbulent volumina and structure functions is obtained. The conclusions drawn hold only within the realm of applicability of thermodynamics to cosmic ray spectra.  相似文献

In this paper we examine the influence of the development of supergene oxide and sulphide zones on the original hypogene geochemical patterns at the Berg deposit, British Columbia.The deposit, in the alpine zone of the Tahtsa Range, was logged (GEOLOG) and sampled in fourteen diamond drill holes along a N—S section and from outcrop where possible. Anomalous populations of major and trace elements were defined using log probability graphs and a sequential extraction (10% hydrochloric acid— ammonium oxalate — potassium chlorate/hydrochloric acid — nitric/perchloric acids) was used to study the distribution of elements between carbonate, oxide, sulphide and silicate phases.Core logs and assays show that primary ore minerals (chalcopyrite—molybdenite) extend from the outer part of the porphyry intrusion into the surrounding hornfels where the best grades of copper are found close to the intrusive contact. Maximum copper grades, however, result from development of a supergene enrichment blanket. Within the hypogene zone, principal lithogeochemical patterns reflect the differences in composition of the hornfels, originally intermediate to basic volcanics, and the intrusion, as well as the introduction of F and trace metals (Cu, Mo, Pb, Zn and Ag). Distribution of Ag is broadly comparable to that of Cu and Mo whereas anomalous Pb and Zn are present as peripheral haloes around the potential ore zones.Emergence of strongly acidic ground water and precipitation of iron oxides, indicate that leaching processes are active. Furthermore, although primary sulphides, associated with both their oxidation products and secondary sulphides, can still be found in surface samples, sequential extractions on drill core clearly indicate vertical redistribution of copper between oxide, carbonate and sulphide phases. Using ratios of metal concentrations to TiO2, the surface concentrations of trace metals can be compared with those at depth and the relative amount of enrichment or depletion can be quantified. In highly leached sites the absolute concentrations of Cu, Mn and Zn are low which is reflected in TiO2 ratios of <1. However, Mo, Pb and Ag are enriched at the same sites (TiO2 ratios >1). In areas where physical erosion exceeds leaching (topographic lows) primary sulphides co-exist with secondary sulphide and oxide minerals. Here Cu, Mo, Pb, Zn, Mn and Ag are enriched. Fluorine is relatively unaffected by the leaching process. It would appear signature for a cale alkaline Cu and Mo porphyry deposit in an area where outcrop was intensely leached.  相似文献

C12 stars in the range 1.04–1.55M are evolved to simulate the core evolution of the possible precursors of planetary nebulae. The nuclear shell burning in stars above 1.2M advances to within about 0.2M of the surface, where the intense radiation interacts with the surface matter and causes mass loss. Published low-resolution measurements of colour and polarisation over the face of M82 are discussed to separate the contribution of starlight and scattered light. We show that in all places of the middle and outer halo the scattered light comes predominantly from a central source of very high ultraviolett excess, the contribution of the disc is negligble there. The projected distributions of Hα-light and scattered continuum are of considerable similarity. Major extinction occurs in the southern half of the main body and of the inner halo; the northern half of the bright body, and the northern halo, are free of extinction, excluding some regions near the minor axis. The light of the central source is reddened only before it is scattered in the halo. The variation of the true degree of polarisation (after correction for starlight) is interpreted in terms of the variation of the mean scattering angle. From this, conclusions can be drawn concerning the location of the dust and the geometry of the illumination. The high brightness of the scattered light near the minor axis is caused axis is caused by a bright illuminating beam there, strengthened in some places by comparatively low scattering angles (45°) and a higher (projected) density of the scattering material. The stellar populations seen in M82 are different in the northern and in the southern halfs of the galaxy. The main body and the region of the northern “halo” consist of an old population of normal metal content (pop. I); the colours of the southern parts – which are partly considerably influenced by extinction – can be due to either metal poor F-stars (pop. II) or to young B-stars. To solve the latter ambiguity and at the same time the question in what direction the plane of the galaxy is tilted, good spectra of the faint southern parts of M82 outside the minor axis are needed.  相似文献
