The structure and distribution of mesoplankton in the northeastern part of the Black Sea along 6-mile and 100-mile sections in the area off Golubaya Bay (near the city of Gelendzhik) were analyzed. The studies were performed from R/V Akvanavt and the boat Ashamba. The observations were carried out during the vegetation season from the beginning of June to the first half of October 2005. Samples of mesoplankton were collected with use of a BSD net with an opening of 0.1 m2 and a mesh size of 180 μm. Both the total (over the entire water column) and layer-by-layer (separately for the upper quasi-homogeneous layer, the seasonal thermocline, and the subthermocline layer) hauls were performed down to the bottom (at sea depths of less than 200 m) or down to the upper boundary of the hydrogen sulfide waters. The particular hydrophysical conditions that were observed in 2005 resulted in an approximately one-month advance of the phenological condition of the planktonic community as compared to the usual pattern. Beroe ovata appeared in the plankton at the end of July, the mass development of Mnemiopsis leidyi was suppressed, and the duration of its influence on edible zooplankton was essentially reduced. As a result, the total mesoplankton biomass in August–October 2005 was 1.5–2 times as great as that in 2004. The abundance of Acartia clausi increased approximately 4–5 times and the quantity of Sagitta setosa also considerably increased. At selected stations, Mnemiopsis leidyias, the main predator in the community, was replaced by Sagitta setosa. 相似文献

Adaptive optimal control of an autonomous underwater vehicle in the dive plane using dorsal fins 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, adaptive control of low speed bio-robotic autonomous underwater vehicles (BAUVs) in the dive plane using dorsal fins is considered. It is assumed that the model parameters are completely unknown and only the depth of the vehicle is measured for feedback. Two dorsal fins are mounted in the horizontal plane on either side of the BAUV. The normal force produced by the fins, when cambered, is used for the maneuvering. The BAUV model considered here is non-minimum phase. An indirect adaptive control system is designed for the depth control using the dorsal fins. The control system consists of a gradient based identifier for online parameter estimation, an observer for state estimation, and an optimal controller. Simulation results are presented which show that the adaptive control system accomplishes precise depth control of the BAUV using dorsal fins in spite of large uncertainties in the system parameters. 相似文献

We present the results of numerical experiments aimed at the simulation of the circulation of waters and transport of impurities
in the Balaklava Bay for typical wind conditions established on the basis of the analysis of the data of in-situ measurements. The currents are computed by using the nonlinear σ-coordinate model. The specific features of the integral
circulation and three-dimensional structure of the current field are investigated. The statistical characteristics of currents
are estimated on the basis of the in-situ data on winds and model calculations. Possible scenarios of propagation of impurities from the coastal sources are analyzed
for various hydrodynamic conditions. It is shown that the localized eddy structures in the current fields (in combination
with the zones of intense vertical motion) can result in a complex character of the transport of substances in the bay and
lead to the formation of local regions of maximum concentrations of impurities on the boundary of the north and central parts
of the bay.

Nutrient deprivation or dietary restriction (DR) confers protection against ageing and stress in many animals and induced lysosomal autophagy is part of this mechanism. The effects of dietary restriction on the toxicity of copper and the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon phenanthrene have been investigated in the common marine mussel Mytilus edulis. The findings show that DR-induced autophagy facilitates the recovery of the digestive gland (i.e., molluscan liver analogue) from cell injury caused by both copper and phenanthrene. It is inferred that DR-induced autophagy and lysosomal proteolysis results in improved cellular "housekeeping" through the more efficient removal of oxidatively and pollutant damaged proteins (e.g., protein carbonyls, protein adducts, etc.) and that this contributes to stress resistance. 相似文献

The paper outlines the peculiarities and importance of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden Region as an ocean gateway between the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean domain through the Mediterranean Sea. It reviews the Region's major environmental problems that were recognized by the governments of the Region and hence led to the adoption of the Action Plan in 1982. For some years, the implementation of the Action Plan was hampered by various economic and political difficulties, the lack of financial and human resources and weak political will in some countries of the Region. However, clear progress was recently achieved in furthering cooperative efforts in the region that culminated in the launching of the Region's Strategic Action Programme, and the preparation of the Regional Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-Based Activities. In order to meet the present and future challenges facing the Region, concerted action is imperative. The paper proposes a multi-track approach with concrete actions suggested, revolving around four main axes of management, mitigation, cooperation/coordination and facilitation.
