This paper deals with the investigation of the effect of surface stress and conductivity on the propagation of surface wave
in isotropic, homogeneous, elastic media under the action of a primary magnetic field. Formulation of the general surface
wave propagation problem has been made, and the corresponding frequency equation has been derived. Frequency equations for
Rayleigh wave, surface shear wave and Stoneley wave have been deduced from that of general surface wave as special cases.
The effects of surface stress and magnetic field on the wave velocities and attenuation factors of Rayleigh wave and surface
shear wave are shown by numerical calculations and graphs. Some important wave velocity equations, as obtained by other authors,
have been deduced as special cases from the wave velocity equation for Stoneley wave. It is found that the combined effect
of surface stress and magnetic field modulates the wave velocity ratios and attenuation factors of Rayleigh wave and surface

Probabilistic aftershock hazard assessment (PAHA, Wiemer, Geoph Res Lett 27:3405–3408, 2000), provided for California within the frame of the STEP project, is based on a methodology, two features of which are addressed
in detail: (1) the parameters of Omori’s law and (2) application of attenuation relations in evaluating peak ground velocity
exceedence probability. Concerning the first point, we perform a simple parametric study. We assume the generalized Omori’s
law by Shcherbakov et al. (Geoph Res Lett 31:L11613, 2004), in which characteristic time c scales with aftershock magnitude. The study shows that, among all the parameters, the hazard is most sensitive to the choice
of m* (controlling the overall aftershock productivity) and least sensitive to the scaling of c. We also conclude that the hazard is mainly due to very early (less than 1 day) aftershocks. As regards the second point,
we employ various attenuation relations from different tectonic areas to study their effect on the hazard analysis. We conclude

A number of ancient charred paddies with a 14C dating of about 5900 a BP were recovered in the sixth excavation at Chuodun Site and are assigned to the Majiabang culture
(7–6 ka BP). To understand their formation mechanism, the ancient charred paddies were compared to modern paddies using FT-IR
spectrum and thermaogravimetric analysis. At the same time, modern charred paddies were made in helium by the laboratory method,
and the structural characteristics of them and the ancient ones were revealed using CP/MAS-13C-NMR. Our results show there are more aromatic moieties in ancient charred paddies compared to modern paddies. The aliphatic
components of modern charred paddies decrease continuously, accompanied by the accumulation of aromatic components, when the
duration and temperature of oxidation increase, and the structure buildings of modern charred paddies are more similar to
ancient ones. Given the planting manner of paddies during Majiabang culture period, these ancient charred paddies might be
a result of the original farming mode involving fire.

This paper briefly introduces the history of the study of the Pacific decadal oscillation (PDO) and explores the relationship between the PDO and sediment grain size from two typical sediment cores from the lower Changjiang (Yangtze River) and Huanghe (Yellow River) estuaries. It is found that the median grain sizes of both cores exhibit relatively high correlation with the PDO. This is because the PDO causes interdecadal variability of precipitation in the East Asia Monsoon region, thus changing the hydrodynamics in both the Changjiang and Huanghe catchments, eventually resulting in variation of sediment grain size. Our analysis also revealed that during different phases of the PDO, the sediment grain size of the Changjiang and Huanghe estuaries showed different variations in cold and warm PDO phases. This is related to movement of the precipitation center driven by the shift in different PDO phases. Moreover, we compared more high resolution geological proxies with the PDO, including stalagmites and tree rings, in East China over the past century. The results indicate that variations of studied geological proxies are generally well correlated with the PDO but have some differences. Finally, longer variations of sediment grain sizes in the Changjiang and Huanghe estuaries are compared with a reconstructed PDO over the last 200 years; sediment grain sizes were still correlated with the PDO, implying that sediment grain size may be used as a new proxy for studying the long-term behavior of the PDO. This result supports previous knowledge of the PDO impact on East China climate evolution and offers a new proxy for further PDO study. Our study will improve paleoenvironment reconstruction in East China on a decadal time scale and benefit future climatic predictions. 相似文献

Several researches published comprehensive reports on dynamic soil properties of cohesive soils, in which many of them outlined, i.e., key factors affecting the dynamic shear modulus. For cohesive soils, the modulus at small strains (g < 10t-3 %) is, first of all, a function of void ratio and effective confining stress. For clays, however, secondary time effects and clay mineralogy (fabric and structure) also appear to be important. The influence of confinement of laboratory-prepared as well as naturally deposited clays consists in an increase of shear modulus logarithmically as a function of time. In this paper, the effect of duration of the various confining pressures on dynamic shear modulus (G) of selected cohesive soils from Warsaw area was evaluated. Shear modulus was determined on the basis of resonant column tests, at low and high shearing strain amplitudes. It is shown that the calculated shear modulus is time-dependent; during approximately first 1000 minutes of consolidation, the moduli increased by almost 50%. Moreover, it is characterized by two phases: an initial one results from primary consolidation and a second one, which occurs after the end of primary consolidation, herein about 16-17 hours, and is called “long-term time effect”. This effect was found also for modulus at higher shearing strains (γ > 103%, e.g., 3 × 103%, 5 × 103%, 8 × 103%, 2 × 103%). 相似文献

Clementine UVVIS and NIR data from the lunar sampling sites (totaling 46 sampling sites) were processed and used to refine the iron determination method of Le Mouéic et al. (2000, 2002). We found that about 21 sampling sites are unsuitable to Le Mouéic et al's spectral parameters ("slope" and "depth l") because their 1500 nm filter could not be used as spectral parameters' right shoulders and to evaluate the depth of the 1-μm absorption feature accurately. We used the rest 25 sampling sites to refine the method developed by Le Mouéic et al. (2000, 2002 ) and obtained our own equation of FeO content determination. We tested our own equation, and the results are satifactory. In our work we also acquired some useful experiences in scientific applications of our own dataset of the Chang'E-1 mission. 相似文献
