Observations of the 15:22 UT flare of 24 June 1980 were made using the Very Large Array (VLA) at 6 cm wavelength simultaneously with the Hard X-ray Imaging Spectrometer (HXIS) aboard the Solar Maximum Mission. It was found that at the peak of the impulsive phase, the brightest microwave point appeared to lie between the soft (3.6–8.0 keV) and hard (22–30 keV) X-ray maxima, which were themselves separated by 20 (Kundu et al., 1984). Since the publication of these results, we have analyzed the imaging data from the Ultraviolet Spectrometer Polarimeter (UVSP) with the goal of narrowing the possible interpretations of the event. Like the VLA and HXIS, the UVSP observations provide information about the location of the primary electrons; the observations taken together suggest that the fast electrons were symmetrically distributed within the flare loop. 相似文献

Microwave emission from solar active regions at frequencies above 4 GHz is dominated by gyroresonance opacity in strong coronal magnetic fields, which allows us to use radio observations to measure coronal magnetic field strengths. In this paper we demonstrate one powerful consequence of this fact: the ability to identify coronal currents from their signatures in microwave images. Specifically, we compare potential-field (i.e., current-free) extrapolations of photospheric magnetic fields with microwave images and are able to identify regions where the potential extrapolation fails to predict the magnetic field strength required to explain the microwave images. Comparison with photospheric vector magnetic field observations indicates that the location inferred for coronal currents agrees with that implied by the presence of vertical currents in the photosphere. Several solar active regions were observed during the 1976 vernal equinox with the 3-element interferometer of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. The element spacings for these observations were 600, 2100, and 2700 m, resulting in maximum angular resolutions of about 3 arc sec at 3.7 cm and 8.5 arc sec at 11.1 cm. Amphiboles represent a crucial phase of the ultra-high-pressure (UHP) metamorphic rocks as their solid solution behavior reflects both bulk compositional and P–T changes. Three different types of amphibole have been reported from the UHP metamafic rocks of the Tso Morari Crystalline Complex, NW Himalayas: Na-rich (glaucophane); Na–Ca-rich (barroisite, taramite, winchite) and Ca-rich (tremolite, magnesio-hornblende, pargasite). The Na-amphibole is presented as a core of the zoned amphibole with Na–Ca-rich rim; Na–Ca-amphibole is presented as inclusion in garnets as well as in matrix, and Ca-amphibole is generally found in the matrix. The Na–Ca-amphibole is observed at two different stages of metamorphism. The first is pre-UHP, and the second is post-garnet–omphacite assemblage though with a significant difference in composition. The pressure–temperature estimations of the formation of these two sets of Na–Ca-amphiboles corroborate their textural associations. Ca-rich amphiboles are generally present in the matrix either as symplectite with plagioclase or as a pseudomorph after garnet along with other secondary minerals like chlorite and biotite. Two different types of zoning have been observed in the amphibole grains: (1) core is Na-rich followed by Na–Ca rim and (2) core of Na–Ca-amphibole is followed by Ca-rich rim. The pre-UHP (or the prograde P–T path) and post-UHP stages (or the retrograde P–T path) of Tso Morari eclogites are defined by characteristic amphibole compositions, viz. Na/Na–Ca-amphibole, Na–Ca-amphibole and Ca-amphibole and thus indicate their utility in inferring crustal evolution of this UHP terrain. 相似文献

The characteristics of 3.5 mm depression features associated with two disparition brusques observed in H are discussed. The millimeter depressions still exist, although reduced in strength, after the disappearance of the H filament. Climate change affects the environment and natural resources immensely. Rainfall, temperature and evapotranspiration are major parameters of climate affecting changes in the environment. Evapotranspiration plays a key role in crop production and water balance of a region, one of the major parameters affected by climate change. The reference evapotranspiration or ET0 is a calculated parameter used in this research. In the present study, changes in the future rainfall, minimum and maximum temperature, and ET0 have been shown by downscaling the HadCM3 (Hadley Centre Coupled Model version 3) model data. The selected study area is located in a part of the Narmada river basin area in Madhya Pradesh in central India. The downscaled outputs of projected rainfall, ET0 and temperatures have been shown for the 21st century with the HADCM3 data of A2 scenario by the Least Square Support Vector Machine (LS-SVM) model. The efficiency of the LS-SVM model was measured by different statistical methods. The selected predictors show considerable correlation with the rainfall and temperature and the application of this model has been done in a basin area which is an agriculture based region and is sensitive to the change of rainfall and temperature. Results showed an increase in the future rainfall, temperatures and ET0. The temperature increase is projected in the high rise of minimum temperature in winter time and the highest increase in maximum temperature is projected in the pre-monsoon season or from March to May. Highest increase is projected in the 2080s in 2081–2091 and 2091–2099 in maximum temperature and 2091–2099 in minimum temperature in all the stations. Winter maximum temperature has been observed to have increased in the future. High rainfall is also observed with higher ET0 in some decades. Two peaks of the increase are observed in ET0 in the April–May and in the October. Variation in these parameters due to climate change might have an impact on the future water resource of the study area, which is mainly an agricultural based region, and will help in proper planning and management. 相似文献

We report the study of a weak noise storm observed by the Clark Lake multifrequency radioheliograph at four frequencies. The noise storm onset was associated with a filament eruption and a gradual rise and fall in soft X-rays. We compare the noise storm emission with related emissions in other wavelengths to develop a composite scenario of the event. Using the properties of the quiet corona inferred from the simultaneously observed quiet-Sun radiation, we estimate the brightness temperature of the storm continuum, which seems to be consistent with the observations reported in Solar Geophysical Data. Superthermal particles with a temperature that is ten times the coronal electron temperature and a density of 10–3 times the coronal density are adequate to explain the observed radiation. Since the noise storm observations were made at four frequencies, we were able to obtain a brightness temperature spectrum of the storm radiation. If the storm radiation is affected in the same way as the quiet-Sun emission by inhomogeneities, the observed spectrum can be interpreted as due to propagation effects. Since the Clark Lake instrument can observe both quiet Sun and weak bursts simultaneously, we were able to estimate the propagation effects from the quiet-Sun observations and use it to correct the brightness temperature of storm radiation. 相似文献
