Comment on some relations between the shape of streamlines and frontal interface in the proximity of a cyclonic vortex

Zusammenfassung Es wird ein einfaches Modell des zykolnalen Wirbels vorgeschlagen und die Beziehung zwischen seiner Intensität, der Form der Stromlinien und der Deformation der frontalen Grenzoberfläche in seiner Nähe diskutiert. Die Arbeit verfolgt das Ziel, die Kriterien der sogenannten dynamischen Klassifikation der aus den meteorologischen Satelliten photographierten Bewölkung zu finden.     

Die Ersatzkugel in geodätischen Berechnungen

Summary For precise geodetic computations over larger distances the reference surface of an ellipsoid of rotation should be used. However it is often replaced by a sphere of an adequate radius. The formulae are derived from figures which usually represent the conditions in a cross-section of the ellipsoid and the reference sphere through the normal plane. Equation (9) is given for the differences s of the length of the ellipse arc of the normal section and the corresponding arc of the circle with radius R. Also Eq. (19) is given for the distance d between the ellipse of the normal section and the circle (at the end point). Both equations are applied for various radii of the reference sphere. Table 1 shows the values s, Tab. 2 and Fig. 2 give the d-values for chosen lengths. It was found that especially the distance between the ellipsoid and the sphere need not always be negligible.     

Quadruplet orientation of aerial photographs

Summary A new procedure of the relative orientation of pencils of light reconstructed from aerial photographs having 60% end and side overlaps is suggested. The basic unit for the procedure is a quadruplet of photographs forming a square. The geometrical characteristics of a block of photographs with 60% overlaps are exploited fully, and, the present author believes, that way an optimum relative orientation of all photographs within the block can be achieved.     

On the problem of frequency calibration of induction variometers with large air-core loops

Zusammenfassung Es wird eine Methode für experimentelle Untersuchung der Frequenzkennlinien von Induktionsvariometern mit Aufnahmeschleifen nichttraditioneller Ausmasse beschrieben. Die Grundlage des beschriebenen Verfahrens bildet eine genaue Bestimmung jenes Teils des magnetischen Kraftflusses, der durch die Aufnahmeschleife durchgeht.     

Mineralogical data on a sulphosalt from the Rhodope mountains,Bulgaria

Zusammenfassung Bei dem Versuch, die Kristallstruktur von Bonchevit zu bestimmen, stellte sich heraus, daß dieses Mineral—bis dahin PbBi₄S₇—aus zwei Phasen besteht. Der Hauptanteil wurde eindeutig als Galenobismutit identifiziert. Der Rest wies nach den Gitterkonstanten (a₀=13,58±0,02 Å, b₀=20,51±0,07 Å, c₀=4,09±0,07 Å) auf ein bisher unbekanntes Mineral hin. Die Raumgruppe ist Bbmm. Ein indiziertes Pulverdiagramm und die dazugehörigen d-Werte werden angegeben.Die Emissionsspektralanalyse zeigt Pb und Bi als Hauptkomponenten, Cu und Ag als Nebenkomponenten und Spuren von Zn und Sn. Die Strukturanalyse führte zu der Formel Me₅S₆, wobei die Me-Atome etwa gleich schwer sind, so daß als chemischo Formel nur Pb₃Bi₂S₆ mit Z=4 in Frage kommt.Strukturell gehört das Mineral in die Gruppe Andorit-Ramdohrit-Fizelyit. Die Verwandtschaft bzw. Identität des Minerals mit anderen Mineralen und synthetischen Verbindungen wird diskutiert.

Mineralogical data on a sulphosalt from the Rhodope mountains, Bulgaria

Summary During an attempt to determine the crystal structure of bonchevite, this mineral was found to consist of two phases. Previously it was thought to have the composition PbBi₄S₇. The main constituent could unambiguously be identified as galenobismutite. For the rest the lattice constants (a₀=13.58±0,02 Å, b₀=20.51±0,07 Å, c₀=4.09±0.07 Å), indicated a new mineral. Space group is Bbmm. An indexed powder diagram (with d-values) is given.The emission spectrographic analysis shows Pb and Bi to be main components, Cu and Ag to be minor components, and traces only of Zn and Sn. The structure analysis has led to the formula Me₅S₆, with Me-atoms of approximately the same atomic number; therefore, the chemical formula has to be Pb₃Bi₂S₆, with Z=4.In a structural classification the mineral belongs to the andoriteramdohrite-fizelyite-group. The relationships to or the identity with other minerals and synthetic compounds are discussed.
