A small particle (ca. 10?6 g) was magnetically separated from a Ca,Al-rich inclusion of the Allende meteorite. By using instrumental neutron activation analysis it was found that the elements Os, W, Re, Ir, Mo, Ru and Pt were enriched by a mean factor of about 7000 relative to Cl chondrites.A polished section of the grain showed that it consisted mainly of silicates, with a rounded particle of metal and sulfide (20 μm across) attached to it.Concentrations of up to 11% Pt were determined with the microprobe in the Ni-Fe center of the particle. Furthermore, Rh was for the first time measured in an Allende inclusion. It is enriched in about the same degree as Pt, Ir and W. The Ni-Fe center was surrounded by troilite. Mo was concentrated in the sulfide, while Os and Ru were inhomogeneously distributed over the metal + sulfide phases. The particle is interpreted as direct product of metal condensation of the solar nebula. The sulfide phase formed at lower temperatures and caused redistribution of the refractory siderophile elements. Condensation calculations for a metal alloy show that Fe and Ni are expected to be already present at higher temperatures than the condensation temperatures of pure Fe. Pt and Rh, having lower condensation temperatures than pure Fe should also be completely condensed above the condensation temperature of pure Fe. Kinetic considerations show that minimum times to grow this kind of particle should be of the order of 500 years at 10?3 atm. 相似文献

The reactions of the bream,Abramis brama, to the ecological changes due to man-made eutrophication of Lake Constance were investigated.
It could be demonstrated that the bream adapted only to a negligible amount. Likely due to its largeness, structure of the
body and population composition the bream is more conservative than perch, roach and whitefish. The only reactions to the
changed environment are modificated vertical and horizontal distribution and partly plancton feeding in summer.

Remote sensing from satellites is the only means to obtain land surface temperature (LST) and emissivity on a larger scale. LST has many applications, e.g., in radiation budget experiments and global warming, and desertification studies. Over the last decades, substantial amount of research was dedicated towards extracting LST and emissivity from surface-leaving radiance and de-coupling the two from each other. This paper provides the physical basis, discusses theoretical limitations, and gives an overview of the current methods for space-borne passive sensors operating in the infrared range, e.g., NOAA-AVHRR, Meteosat, ERS-ATSR, TERRA-MODIS, and TERRA-ASTER. Atmospheric effects on estimated LST are described and atmospheric-correction using a radiative transfer model (RTM) is explained. The Coyote Lake basalt, located near the intersection of the Hayward and Calaveras faults in central California, contains spinel peridotite xenoliths from the mantle beneath the San Andreas fault system. Six upper mantle xenoliths were studied in detail by a combination of petrologic techniques. Temperature estimates, obtained from three two-pyroxene geothermometers and the Al-in-orthopyroxene geothermometer, indicate that the xenoliths equilibrated at 970–1100 °C. A thermal model was used to estimate the corresponding depth of equilibration for these xenoliths, resulting in depths between 38 and 43 km. The lattice preferred orientation of olivine measured in five of the xenolith samples show strong point distributions of olivine crystallographic axes suggesting that fabrics formed under high-temperature conditions. Calculated seismic anisotropy values indicate an average shear wave anisotropy of 6%, higher than the anisotropy calculated from xenoliths from other tectonic environments. Using this value, the anisotropic layer responsible for fault-parallel shear wave splitting in central California is less than 100 km thick. The strong fabric preserved in the xenoliths suggests that a mantle shear zone exists below the Calaveras fault to a depth of at least 40 km, and combining xenolith petrofabrics with shear wave splitting studies helps distinguish between different models for deformation at depth beneath the San Andrea fault system. 相似文献

Abstract Using GPS phase observations in the kinematic mode, we are able to achieve centimeter accuracy in relative three‐dimensional coordinates. This could be verified even for fast‐moving sensors in aircraft, such as airborne photogrammetric cameras, at the time of exposure. Sophisticated kinematic software has been developed resolving cycle slips and carrier‐phase ambiguities during motion. To determine the instantaneous sea surface, the GPS receiver is placed in a free‐drifting buoy with the antenna on top. Differencing the 1‐Hz observations, wave heights can be determined as well as velocity and direction of ocean (tidal) currents. This article deals with the experiences from a test for the practical realization of this proposal. Hardware installation, software, and data analysis are described. Plans to use such an observational scenario of a GPS buoy array in the North Sea for the calibration of the radar altimeter of the European satellite ERS‐1 are presented. 相似文献
