项目名称:现代造山带和古老造山带的对比研究——均变论的修正(Uniformitarianismrevisited:ComparisonbetweenModernandAncientOrogens)板块构造理论为解释现代洋壳和新生代造山带演化提供了统一的构造模式。在过去的30年,该理论一直运用于中生代、古生代和前寒武纪造山带的研究。由于古老造山带的露头保存较差,并且随着地质年代的增长,研究现代构造带的一些重要的技术(如:洋底纪录、古生物和古地磁数据)和构造模式难以应用。而研究古老造山带的地质学家以其它方法从古老造山带获得了不同于现代造山带的地质数据。由于缺乏交流形成了两种…

New IGCP Projects accepted in 2004

Central Asia encompasses nearly a dozen countries and consists of several orogenic complexes, one of which, the Altaids,is ca. 1000 km wide and 7000 km long,stretching from the Ural Mountains in the West to the Pacific Ocean in the East. It is composed of several tectonic collages that were created by oceanic subduction and continental collision from the Late Proterozoic to the end of the Palaeozoic. IGCP 499： Devonian land-sea transitional settings

Introduction A workshop and field trip of the International Geoscience Programme （IGCP） project 499 entitled Devonian Land-Sea Interaction： Evolution of Ecosystems and Climate （DEVEC） was organized between April 23rd and 30th in Tripoli, Libya. A one day symposium in Tripoli was followed by a field trip to the Awaynat Wanin Area of the Southern Ghadamis Basin, west of Libya. The excursion, which was guided by Jean-Noel Proust, CNRS, Universite de Rennesl, and Milad Ben Rahuma, Libyan Petroleum Institute （LPI）, attracted participants from Australia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Libya, and U.K.
