Seismically induced landslide displacements: a predictive model 总被引:27,自引:0,他引:27
Newmark's model for predicting earthquake-induced landslide displacements provides a simple way to predict the coseismic displacements affecting a sliding mass subject to earthquake loading. In this model, seismic slope stability is measured in terms of critical acceleration, which depends on the mechanical soil properties, pore-pressure distribution, and slope geometry. The triggering seismic forces are investigated in terms of energy radiation from the source, propagation, and site effects, based on 190 accelerometric recordings from 17 Italian earthquakes with magnitudes between 4.5 and 6.8. The method is based on the calibration of relations having the general form of an attenuation law that relates the energy of the seismic forces to the dynamic shear resistances of the sliding mass to propagate the expected landslide displacements as an inverse function of the distance from the fault rupture; the amount of displacement computed through these relations provides a criterion to predict the occurrence of slope failures. Finally, maps showing, in a deterministic and a probabilistic way, the potential of seismically induced landslide displacements are displayed as a tool to provide seismic landslide scenarios and earthquake-induced landslide hazard maps, respectively. 相似文献

It has been known that ground motion amplitude will be amplified at mountaintops; however, such topographic effects are not
included in conventional landslide hazard models. In this study, a modified procedure that considers the topographic effects
is proposed to analyze the seismic landslide hazard. The topographic effect is estimated by back analysis. First, a 3D dynamic
numerical model with irregular topography is constructed. The theoretical topographic amplification factors are derived from
the dynamic numerical model. The ground motion record is regarded as the reference motion in the plane area. By combining
the topographic amplification factors with the reference motions, the amplified acceleration time history and amplified seismic
intensity parameters are obtained. Newmark’s displacement model is chosen to perform the seismic landslide hazard analysis.
By combining the regression equation and the seismic parameter of peak ground acceleration and Arias intensity, the Newmark’s
displacement distribution is generated. Subsequently, the calculated Newmark’s displacement maps are transformed to the hazard
maps. The landslide hazard maps of the 99 Peaks region, Central Taiwan are evaluated. The actual landslide inventory maps
triggered by the 21 September 1999, Chi-Chi earthquake are compared with the calculated hazard maps. Relative to the conventional
procedure, the results show that the proposed procedures, which include the topographic effect can obtain a better result
for seismic landslide hazard analysis.

Earthquake-induced landslides are responsible worldwide for significant socioeconomic losses and historically have a prominent
position in the list of natural hazards affecting the Iran plateau. As a step toward the development of tools for the assessment
and the management of this kind of hazard at regional scale, an empirical estimator of coseismic displacements along potential
sliding surfaces was obtained through a regression analysis for the Zagros region, a mountainous Iranian region subjected
to earthquake-induced landslides. This estimator, based on the Newmark’s model, allows to evaluate the expected permanent
displacement (named “Newmark displacement”) induced by seismic shaking of defined energy on potential sliding surface characterized
by a given critical acceleration. To produce regression models for Newmark
displacement estimators, a data set was constructed for different critical
acceleration values on the basis of 108 accelerometric recordings from 80 Iranian earthquakes with moment magnitudes between 3.6 and 7.
The empirical estimator has a general form, proposed by Jibson (Eng Geol 91:209–218, 2007), relating Newmark
displacement to Arias
intensity (as parameter representing the energy of the seismic forces) and to critical
acceleration (as parameter representing the dynamic shear resistance of the sliding mass). As an example of application, this relation
was employed to provide a basic document for earthquake-induced landslide hazard assessment at regional scale, according to
a method proposed by Del Gaudio et al. (Bull Seismol Soc Am 93:557–569, 2003), applied to the whole Iranian territory, including Zagros region. This method consists in evaluating the shear resistance
required to slopes to limit the occurrence of seismically induced failures, on the basis of the Newmark’s model. The obtained
results show that the exposure to landslide seismic induction is maximum in the Alborz Mountains region, where critical
accelerations up to ~0.1 g are required to limit the probability of seismic triggering of coherent type landslides within 10% in 50 years. 相似文献

Influence of seismic acceleration on landslide susceptibility maps: a case study from NE Turkey (the Kelkit Valley) 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Particularly in the last decade, landslide susceptibility and hazard maps have been used for urban planning and site selection of infrastructures. Most of the procedures for preparing of landslide susceptibility maps need high-quality landslide inventory map. Although the rainfall and seismic activities are accepted as triggering factor for landslides, designation of the triggering factor for each landslide in the inventory is almost impossible when well-documented records are unavailable. Therefore, during preparation of landslide susceptibility map, whole landslide records in the inventory map are used together without classifying based on the triggering factors. Although seismic activity is accepted as a triggering factor, possible effect of the use of seismic activity on production of landslide susceptibility map was investigated in this study, and the subject is open to discussion. For this purpose, a series of stability analyses based on circular failure and infinite slope model were performed considering different pseudostatic conditions. The results of analyses show that gentle slopes have higher susceptibility to failure than steeper ones, even if their stability conditions (susceptibilities) are similar for static condition. The seismic forces acting on failure surfaces may not be sufficiently taken into consideration in the conventionally prepared landslide susceptibility maps. Employing the general decreasing trend in stability condition based on slope face angle and the seismic acceleration, a new procedure was introduced for preparing of the landslide susceptibility map for a scenario earthquake. The prediction performance of occurring landslides increased after the procedure was applied to the conventionally prepared landslide susceptibility map. According to the threshold independent spatial performance analyses of the proposed methodology and the produced landslide susceptibility maps, the area under ROC curve values were calculated as 0.801, 0.933, and 0.947 for the maps prepared by considering conventional method and scenario earthquakes having M w values of 5.5 and 7.5, respectively. 相似文献

A comprehensive analytical as well as numerical treatment of seismological, geological, geomorphological and geotechnical concepts has been implemented through microzonation projects in the northeast Indian provinces of Sikkim Himalaya and Guwahati city, representing cases of contrasting geological backgrounds — a hilly terrain and a predominantly alluvial basin respectively. The estimated maximum earthquakes in the underlying seismic source zones, demarcated in the broad northeast Indian region, implicates scenario earthquakes of M W 8.3 and 8.7 to the respective study regions for deterministic seismic hazard assessments. The microzonation approach as undertaken in the present analyses involves multi-criteria seismic hazard evaluation through thematic integration of contributing factors. The geomorphological themes for Sikkim Himalaya include surface geology, soil cover, slope, rock outcrop and landslide integrated to achieve geological hazard distribution. Seismological themes, namely surface consistent peak ground acceleration and predominant frequency were, thereafter, overlaid on and added with the geological hazard distribution to obtain the seismic hazard microzonation map of the Sikkim Himalaya. On the other hand, the microzonation study of Guwahati city accounts for eight themes — geological and geomorphological, basement or bedrock, landuse, landslide, factor of safety for soil stability, shear wave velocity, predominant frequency, and surface consistent peak ground acceleration. The five broad qualitative hazard classifications — ‘low’, ‘moderate’, ‘high’, ‘moderate high’ and ‘very high’ could be applied in both the cases, albeit with different implications to peak ground acceleration variations. These developed hazard maps offer better representation of the local specific seismic hazard variation in the terrain. 相似文献

The characteristics and failure mechanism of the largest landslide triggered by the Wenchuan earthquake, May 12, 2008, China 总被引:9,自引:7,他引:2

Strong earthquakes are among the prime triggering factors of landslides. The 2008 Wenchuan earthquake (M
w = 7.9) triggered tens of thousands of landslides. Among them, the Daguangbao landslide is the largest one, which covered
an area of 7.8 km2 with a maximum width of 2.2 km and an estimated volume of 7.5 × 108 m3. The landslide is located on the hanging wall of the seismogenic fault, the Yingxiu–Beichuan fault in Anxian town, Sichuan
Province. The sliding mass travelled about 4.5 km and blocked the Huangdongzi valley, forming a landslide dam nearly 600 m
high. Compared to other coseismic landslides in the study area, the Daguangbao landslide attained phenomenal kinetic energy,
intense cracking, and deformation, exposing a 1-km long head scarp in the rear of the landslide. Based on the field investigation,
we conclude that the occurrence of the landslide is controlled mainly by the seismic, terrain, and geological factors. The
special location of the landslide and the possible topographic amplification of ground motions due to the terrain features
governed the landslide failure. The effects of earthquakes on the stability of slopes were considered in two aspects: First,
the ground shaking may reduce the frictional strength of the substrate by shattering of rock mass. Second, the seismic acceleration
may result in short-lived and episodic changes of the normal (tensile) and shear stresses in the hillshopes during earthquakes.
According to the failure mechanism, the dynamic process of the landslide might contain four stages: (a) the cracking of rock
mass in the rear of the slope mainly due to the tensile stress generated by the ground shaking; (b) the shattering of the
substrate due to the ground shaking, which reduced the frictional strength of the substrate; (c) the shearing failure of the
toe of the landslide due to the large shear stress caused by the landslide gravity; and (d) the deposition stage. 相似文献

Garhwal Himalayas are seismically very active and simultaneously suffering from landslide hazards. Landslides are one of the most frequent natural hazards in Himalayas causing damages worth more than one billion US$ and around 200 deaths every year. Thus, it is of paramount importance to identify the landslide causative factors to study them carefully and rank them as per their influence on the occurrence of landslides. The difference image of GIS-derived landslide susceptibility zonation maps prepared for pre- and post-Chamoli earthquake shows the effect of seismic shaking on the occurrence of landslides in the Garhwal Himalaya. An attempt has been made to incorporate seismic shaking parameters in terms of peak ground acceleration with other static landslide causative factors to produce landslide susceptibility zonation map in geographic information system environment. In this paper, probabilistic seismic hazard analysis has been carried out to calculate peak ground acceleration values at different time periods for estimating seismic shaking conditions in the study area. Further, these values are used as one of the causative factors of landslides in the study area and it is observed that it refines the preparation of landslide susceptibility zonation map in seismically active areas like Garhwal Himalayas. 相似文献

Probabilistic seismic hazard of Pakistan, Azad-Jammu and Kashmir 总被引:2,自引:2,他引:0
The seismic hazard study for Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir has been conducted by using probabilistic approach in terms
of peak ground acceleration (PGA) in m/s2 and also seismic hazard response spectra for different cities. A new version of Ambraseys et al. (Bull Earthq Eng 3:1–53,
2005) ground acceleration model is used, and parameterization is based on most recent updated earthquake catalogs that consisted
of 14,000 events. The threshold magnitude was fixed at M
w 4.8, but seismic zones like northern Pakistan–Tajikistan, Hindukush and northern Afghanistan–Tajikistan border had M
w 5.2. The average normalized ‘a’ and ‘b’ values for all zones are 6.15 and 0.95, respectively. Seismicity of study area was modeled, and ground motion was computed
for eight frequencies (0.025, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 s) for different annual exceedance rates of 0.02, 0.01, 0.005,
0.002 and 0.001 (return periods 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 years) for stiff rocks at the gridding of 0.1° × 0.1°. Seismic
hazard maps based on computed PGA for 0.02, 0.01 and 0.002 annual exceedance are prepared. These maps indicate the earthquake
hazard of Pakistan and surrounding areas in the form of acceleration contour lines, which are in agreement with geological
and seismotectonic characteristics of the study area. The maximum seismic hazard values are found at Muzaffarabad, Gilgit
and Quetta areas. 相似文献

This paper presents probabilistic assessment of seismically-induced slope displacements considering uncertainties of seismic ground motions and soil properties.A stochastic ground motion model representing both the temporal and spectral non-stationarity of earthquake shakings and a three-dimensional rotational failure mechanism are integrated to assess Newmark-type slope displacements.A new probabilistic approach that incorporates machine learning in metamodeling technique is proposed,by combining relevance vector machine with polynomial chaos expansions(RVM-PCE).Compared with other PCE methods, the proposed RVM-PCE is shown to be more effective in estimating failure probabilities. The sensitivity and relative influence of each random input parameter to the slope displacements are discussed. Finally, the fragility curves for slope displacements are established for sitespecific soil conditions and earthquake hazard levels. The results indicate that the slope displacement is more sensitive to the intensities and strong shaking durations of seismic ground motions than the frequency contents, and a critical Arias intensity that leads to the maximum annual failure probabilities can be identified by the proposed approach. 相似文献

Different models were developed for evaluating the probabilistic three-dimensional (3-D) stability analysis of earth slopes
and embankments under earthquake loading using both the safety factor and the displacement criteria of slope failure. In the
3-D analysis, the critical and total slope widths become two new and important parameters. The probabilistic models evaluate
the probability of failure under seismic loading and consider the different sources of uncertainties involved in the problem,
i.e. uncertainties stemming from the discrepancies between laboratory-measured and in situ values of shear strength parameters,
randomness of earthquake occurrence, and earthquake-induced acceleration. The models also take into consideration the spatial
variabilities and correlations of soil properties. The developed models are incorporated in a computer program, PTDDSSA (probabilistic
three-dimensional dynamic slope stability analysis). These developed analysis/design procedures are incorporated within a
code named SARETL (stability analysis and remediation of earthquake-triggered landslides) that was developed in this study
for stability analysis and remediation of earthquake-triggered landslides. In addition to the dynamic inertia forces; the
developed system takes into consideration the local site effects. The code is capable of: 1. Prediction of permanent deformations
that result from landslides under seismic loading using both probabilistic and deterministic approaches. 2. The assessment
of landslide hazard that affects major transportation routes in the event of earthquakes, and the preparation of earthquake-induced
landslide hazard maps (i.e. maps that show expected displacements and probability of slope/embankments failure) for different
earthquakes magnitudes and environmental conditions. 3. Proposing a mitigation strategy against landslides and suggesting
guidelines for remedial measures. The developed expert system is applied to a major highway case study. Design maps are developed
for the highway under seismic loading.

In this paper, the applicability of the Newmark method at regional, sub-regional and site scales has been investigated in
the Lorca Basin (Murcia). This basin is located in one of the most seismically active regions of Spain. The area is very interesting
for studying earthquake-induced slope instabilities as there are well-known cases associated with specific earthquakes. For
the regional and sub-regional scales, a geographic information system has been used to develop an implementation of Newmark
sliding rigid block method. Soil and topographic amplification effects have been particularly considered. Subsequently, ‘Newmark
displacement’ maps for deterministic seismic scenarios have been produced. Some specific studies have also been performed
using limit equilibrium methods to estimate the safety factor and the critical acceleration of certain slope instabilities
at a site scale. These instabilities were the rock slides related to recent seismic series at the Lorca Basin: 2002 Bullas
(M
w = 5.0) and 2005 La Paca (M
w = 4.8). Finally, the safety factor, critical acceleration and Newmark displacement values estimated at different scales have
been compared to determine which scale is most suitable for the Newmark method. 相似文献

The present study deals with the preparation of a landslide susceptibility map of the Balason River basin, Darjeeling Himalaya, using a logistic regression model based on Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing. The landslide inventory map was prepared with a total of 295 landslide locations extracted from various satellite images and intensive field survey. Topographical maps, satellite images, geological, geomorphological, soil, rainfall and seismic data were collected, processed and constructed into a spatial database in a GIS environment. The chosen landslide-conditioning factors were altitude, slope aspect, slope angle, slope curvature, geology, geomorphology, soil, land use/land cover, normalised differential vegetation index, drainage density, lineament number density, distance from lineament, distance to drainage, stream power index, topographic wetted index, rainfall and peak ground acceleration. The produced landslide susceptibility map satisfied the decision rules and ?2 Log likelihood, Cox &; Snell R-Square and Nagelkerke R-Square values proved that all the independent variables were statistically significant. The receiver operating characteristic curve showed that the prediction accuracy of the landslide probability map was 96.10%. The proposed LR method can be used in other hazard/disaster studies and decision-making. 相似文献

Probabilistic seismic hazard analysis for Bangalore 总被引:5,自引:3,他引:2
This article presents the results of probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) for Bangalore, South India. Analyses have
been carried out considering the seismotectonic parameters of the region covering a radius of 350 km keeping Bangalore as
the center. Seismic hazard parameter ‘b’ has been evaluated considering the available earthquake data using (1) Gutenberg–Richter (G–R) relationship and (2) Kijko
and Sellevoll (1989, 1992) method utilizing extreme and complete catalogs. The ‘b’ parameter was estimated to be 0.62 to 0.98 from G–R relation and 0.87 ± 0.03 from Kijko and Sellevoll method. The results
obtained are a little higher than the ‘b’ values published earlier for southern India. Further, probabilistic seismic hazard analysis for Bangalore region has been
carried out considering six seismogenic sources. From the analysis, mean annual rate of exceedance and cumulative probability
hazard curve for peak ground acceleration (PGA) and spectral acceleration (Sa) have been generated. The quantified hazard
values in terms of the rock level peak ground acceleration (PGA) are mapped for 10% probability of exceedance in 50 years
on a grid size of 0.5 km × 0.5 km. In addition, Uniform Hazard Response Spectrum (UHRS) at rock level is also developed for
the 5% damping corresponding to 10% probability of exceedance in 50 years. The peak ground acceleration (PGA) value of 0.121 g
obtained from the present investigation is slightly lower (but comparable) than the PGA values obtained from the deterministic
seismic hazard analysis (DSHA) for the same area. However, the PGA value obtained in the current investigation is higher than
PGA values reported in the global seismic hazard assessment program (GSHAP) maps of Bhatia et al. (1999) for the shield area. 相似文献

The basin-like setting of stiff bedrock combined with pre-existing landslide masses can contribute to seismic amplifications
in a wide frequency range (0–10 Hz) and induce a self-excitation process responsible for earthquake-triggered landsliding.
Here, the self-excitation process is proposed to justify the far-field seismic trigger of the Cerda landslide (Sicily, Italy)
which was reactivated by the 6th September 2002 Palermo earthquake (M
s = 5.4), about 50 km far from the epicentre. The landslide caused damage to farm houses, roads and aqueducts, close to the
village of Cerda, and involved about 40 × 106 m3 of clay shales; the first ground cracks due to the landslide movement formed about 30 min after the main shock. A stress–strain
dynamic numerical modelling, performed by FDM code FLAC 5.0, supports the notion that the combination of local geological
setting and earthquake frequency content played a fundamental role in the landslide reactivation. Since accelerometric records
of the triggering event are not available, dynamic equivalent inputs have been used for the numerical modelling. These inputs
can be regarded as representative for the local ground shaking, having a PGA value up to 0.2 m/s2, which is the maximum expected in 475 years, according to the Italian seismic hazard maps. A 2D numerical modelling of the
seismic wave propagation in the Cerda landslide area was also performed; it pointed out amplification effects due to both
the structural setting of the stiff bedrock (at about 1 Hz) and the pre-existing landslide mass (in the range 3–6 Hz). The
frequency peaks of the resulting amplification functions (A(f)) fit well the H/V spectral ratios from ambient noise and the H/H spectral ratios to a reference station from earthquake records, obtained by in situ velocimetric measurements. Moreover,
the Fourier spectra of earthquake accelerometric records, whose source and magnitude are consistent with the triggering event,
show a main peak at about 1 Hz. This frequency value well fits the one amplified by the geological setting of the bedrock
in correspondence with the landslide area, which is constituted of marly limestones and characterised by a basin-like geometry. 相似文献

Landslides triggered by slipping-fault-generated earthquake on a plateau: an example of the 14 April 2010, Ms 7.1, Yushu, China earthquake 总被引:3,自引:1,他引:2
On 14 April 2010 at 07:49 (Beijing time), a catastrophic earthquake with Ms 7.1 struck Yushu County, Qinghai Province, China. A total of 2,036 landslides were interpreted from aerial photographs and satellite images, verified by selected field checking. These landslides cover about a total area of 1.194 km2. The characteristics and failure mechanisms of these landslides are presented in this paper. The spatial distribution of the landslides is evidently strongly controlled by the locations of the main co-seismic surface fault ruptures. The landslides commonly occurred close together. Most of the landslides are small; there were only 275 individual landslide (13.5 % of the total number) surface areas larger than 1,000 m2. The landslides are of various types. They are mainly shallow, disrupted landslides, but also include rock falls, deep-seated landslides, liquefaction-induced landslides, and compound landslides. Four types of factors are identified as contributing to failure along with the strong ground shaking: natural excavation of the toes of slopes, which mean erosion of the base of the slope, surface water infiltration into slopes, co-seismic fault slipping at landslide sites, and delayed occurrence of landslides due to snow melt or rainfall infiltration at sites where slopes were weakened by the co-seismic ground shaking. To analyze the spatial distribution of the landslides, the landslide area percentage (LAP) and landslide number density (LND) were compared with peak ground acceleration (PGA), distance from co-seismic main surface fault ruptures, elevation, slope gradient, slope aspect, and lithology. The results show landslide occurrence is strongly controlled by proximity to the main surface fault ruptures, with most landslides occurring within 2.5 km of such ruptures. There is no evident correlation between landslide occurrences and PGA. Both LAP and LND have strongly positive correlations with slope gradient, and additionally, sites at elevations between 3,800 and 4,000 m are relatively susceptible to landslide occurrence; as are slopes with northeast, east, and southeast slope aspects. Q4 al-pl, N, and T3 kn 1 have more concentrated landslide activity than others. This paper provides a detailed inventory map of landslides triggered by the 2010 Yushu earthquake for future seismic landslide hazard analysis and also provides a study case of characteristics, failure mechanisms, and spatial distribution of landslides triggered by slipping-fault generated earthquake on a plateau. 相似文献

This paper is a follow-up to a previous paper on the subject of liquefaction potential index (LPI), a parameter that is often used to characterize the potential for surface manifestation of liquefaction at a given site subjected to a given shaking level (represented by a pair of peak ground surface acceleration amax and moment magnitude Mw). In the previous paper by Juang and his coworkers, the LPI was re-calibrated for a piezocone penetration test (CPTU) model, and a simplified model based on LPI was created for computing the conditional probability of surface manifestation of liquefaction (PG). In this paper, the model for this conditional probability PG is extended into a complete framework for assessing the probability of surface manifestation of liquefaction in a given exposure time at a given site subjected to all possible ground motions at all seismic hazard levels. This new framework is formulated and demonstrated with an example site in 10 different seismic regions in the United States. 相似文献

Microzonation is an effort to evaluate and map potential hazards found in an area, urban area in particular, that could be induced by strong ground shaking during an earthquake. These hazards include: ground motion amplification, liquefaction, and slope failure. The microzonation maps, depicting ground-motion amplification, liquefaction, and landslide potentials, can be produced if the ground motion on bedrock (input) and the site conditions are known. These maps, in combination with ground-motion hazard maps (on bedrock), can be used to develop a variety of hazard mitigation strategies such as seismic risk assessment, emergency response and preparedness, and land-use planning. However, these maps have certain limitations that result from the nature of regional mapping, data limitations, generalization, and computer modeling. These microzonations show that when strong ground shaking occurs, damage is more likely to occur, or be more severe, in the higher hazard areas. The zones shown on the hazard maps should not serve as a substitute for site-specific evaluations. 相似文献

Landslide hazards triggered by the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, Sichuan, China 总被引:35,自引:16,他引:19
The 2008 Wenchuan earthquake (M
s = 8.0; epicenter located at 31.0° N, 103.4° E), with a focal depth of 19.0 km was triggered by the reactivation of the Longmenshan
fault in Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province, China on 12 May 2008. This earthquake directly caused more than 15,000 geohazards
in the form of landslides, rockfalls, and debris flows which resulted in about 20,000 deaths. It also caused more than 10,000
potential geohazard sites, especially for rockfalls, reflecting the susceptibility of high and steep slopes in mountainous
areas affected by the earthquake. Landslide occurrence on mountain ridges and peaks indicated that seismic shaking was amplified
by mountainous topography. Thirty-three of the high-risk landslide lakes with landslide dam heights greater than 10 m were
classified into four levels: extremely high risk, high risk, medium risk, and low risk. The levels were created by comprehensively
analyzing the capacity of landslide lakes, the height of landslide dams, and the composition and structure of materials that
blocked rivers. In the epicenter area which was 300 km long and 10 km wide along the main seismic fault, there were lots of
landslides triggered by the earthquake, and these landslides have a common characteristic of a discontinuous but flat sliding
surface. The failure surfaces can be classified into the following three types based on their overall shape: concave, convex,
and terraced. Field evidences illustrated that the vertical component of ground shaking had a significant effect on both building
collapse and landslide generation. The ground motion records show that the vertical acceleration is greater than the horizontal,
and the acceleration must be larger than 1.0 g in some parts along the main seismic fault. Two landslides are discussed as
high speed and long runout cases. One is the Chengxi landslide in Beichuan County, and the other is the Donghekou landslide
in Qingchuan County. In each case, the runout process and its impact on people and property were analyzed. The Chengxi landslide
killed 1,600 people and destroyed numerous houses. The Donghekou landslide is a complex landslide–debris flow with a long
runout. The debris flow scoured the bank of the Qingjiang River for a length of 2,400 m and subsequently formed a landslide
dam. This landslide buried seven villages and killed more than 400 people. 相似文献

On May 12, 2008, at 1428 hours (Beijing time), a catastrophic earthquake, with a magnitude of Ms 8.0, struck the Sichuan Province, China. About 200,000 landslides, as a secondary geological hazard associated with the earthquake, were triggered over a broad area. These landslides were of almost all types such as shallow, disrupted landslides, rock falls, deep-seated landslides, and rock avalanches. Some of these landslides damaged and destroyed large part of some towns, blocked roads, dammed rivers, and caused other serious damages. The purpose of this study is to detect correlations between landslide occurrence and the surface rupture plane, ground shaking conditions (measured by peak ground acceleration, PGA), lithology, slope gradient, slope aspect, topographic position, and distance from drainages by using two indices, landslide area percentage (LAP) and the landslide number density (LND), based on geographic information system (GIS) technology and statistical analysis method in a square region (study area) of Beichuan County, Sichuan Province, China. There were 5,096 landslides related with the earthquake which were delineated by visual interpretation and selected field checking throughout the study area. The total area (horizontal projection) of the 5,096 landslides is about 41.103 km2. The LAP, which is defined as the percentage of the plane area affected by landslides, was 10.276 %, and the LND, means the number of landslides per square kilometers, was 12.74 landslides/km2. Statistical analysis results show that both LAP and LND have a positive correlation with slope gradient and a negative correlation with distance from the surface rupture. However, the correlation between the occurrence of landslides with PGA, topographic position, and distance from drainages are uncertain, or has just a little positive correlation. The correlation between landslide and slope aspect also shows the effect of the directivity of the seismic wave. The Zbq formation had the most concentrated landslide activity with the LND value of 21.78 landslides/km , 2 and the ∈1 q Gr. geological units had the highest LAP value. Furthermore, weight index (W i) model is performed with a GIS platform to derive landslide hazard index map. The success rate of the model was 71.615 % and, thus, it was valid. In addition, comparison of five landslide controlling parameters’ influence on landslide occurrences was also carried out. 相似文献
