We present the results of an exhaustive numerical study of fully relativistic non-axisymmetric Bondi–Hoyle accretion on to a moving Schwarzschild black hole. We have solved the equations of general relativistic hydrodynamics with a high-resolution shock-capturing numerical scheme based on a linearized Riemann solver. The numerical code was previously used to study axisymmetric flow configurations past a Schwarzschild black hole. We have analysed and discussed the flow morphology for a sample of asymptotically high Mach number models. The results of this work reveal that initially asymptotic uniform flows always accrete on to the hole in a stationary way, which closely resembles the previous axisymmetric patterns. This is in contrast with some Newtonian numerical studies where violent flip-flop instabilities were found. As discussed in the text, the reason can be found in the initial conditions used in the relativistic regime, as they cannot exactly duplicate the previous Newtonian setups where the instability appeared. The dependence of the final solution on the inner boundary condition as well as on the grid resolution has also been studied. Finally, we have computed the accretion rates of mass and linear and angular momentum.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the thermodynamic properties of acoustic Schwarzschild black holes with its parameter. The study is conducted in the extended phase space displaying the phase transition. This phase transition is examined through Gibbs free energy, specific heat, and heat capacity. Later, we discuss the thermal stability of acoustic black holes through Hawking temperature by identifying their stable and unstable regions. We calculate the corrected entropy to examine the thermal fluctuations. Through the corrected entropy we observe that there is no fluctuation in the case of small black holes. We also discuss the energy emission process from acoustic black holes. Moreover, we employ the generalized uncertainty principle to obtain a modified Lagrangian equation. We analyze the tunneling and Hawking temperature of the acoustic Schwarzschild black hole after solving the field equations.  相似文献

The stationary, spherically symmetric, polytropic and inviscid accretion flow in the Schwarzschild metric has been set-up as an autonomous first-order dynamical system, and it has been studied completely analytically. Of the three possible critical points in the flow, the one that is physically realistic behaves like the saddle point of the standard Bondi accretion problem. One of the two remaining critical points exhibits the strange mathematical behaviour of being either a saddle point or a centre-type point, depending on the values of the flow parameters. The third critical point is always unphysical and behaves like a centre-type point. The treatment has been extended to pseudo-Schwarzschild flows for comparison with the general relativistic analysis.  相似文献

We introduce a multipolar scheme for describing the structure of stationary, axisymmetric, force-free black hole magnetospheres in the '3+1' formalism. We focus here on Schwarzschild spacetime, giving a complete classification of the separable solutions of the stream equation. We show a transparent term-by-term analogy of our solutions with the familiar multipoles of flat-space electrodynamics. We discuss electrodynamic processes around disc-fed black holes in which our solutions find natural applications: (i) 'interior' solutions in studies of the BlandfordZnajek process of extracting the rotational energy of holes, and of the formation of relativistic jets in active galactic nuclei and 'microquasars'; (ii) 'exterior' solutions in studies of accretion disc dynamos, disc-driven winds and jets. On the strength of existing numerical studies, we argue that the poloidal field structures found here are also expected to hold with good accuracy for rotating black holes, except for the cases of the maximum possible rotation rates. We show that the closed-loop exterior solutions found here are not in contradiction with the MacdonaldThorne theorem, as these solutions, which diverge logarithmically on the horizon of the hole , only apply to those regions that exclude .  相似文献

In this paper we present various classes of solutions for perfect fluid disks rotating around Schwarzschild black holes. We study the profiles of pressure, density and specific angular momentum and the formation of cusp-like structures at the inner edge of the disks. Using the trial function method, we calculate the frequency of the global axi-symmetric oscillations. We compare the results with those of the corresponding Newtonian calculations to find the general relativistic effects.  相似文献

The equations governing general relativistic, spherically symmetric, hydrodynamic accretion of polytropic fluid on to black holes are solved in the Schwarzschild metric to investigate some of the transonic properties of the flow. Only stationary solutions are discussed. For such accretion, it has been shown that real physical sonic points may form even for flow with   γ <4/3  or   γ >5/3  . The behaviour of some flow variables in the close vicinity of the event horizon is studied as a function of specific energy and the polytropic index of the flow.  相似文献

Gravitational wave signal characteristics from a binary black hole system in which the companion moves through the accretion disc of the primary are studied. We chose the primary to be a super-massive  ( M = 108 M)  Kerr black hole and the companion to be a massive black hole  ( M = 105 M)  to clearly demonstrate the effects. We show that the drag exerted on the companion by the disc is sufficient to reduce the coalescence time of the binary. The drag is primarily due to the fact that the accretion disc on a black hole deviates from a Keplerian disc and becomes sub-Keplerian due to inner boundary condition on the black hole horizon. We consider two types of accretion rates on to the companion. The companion is deeply immersed inside the disc and it can accrete at the Bondi rate which depends on the instantaneous density of the disc. However, an accretion disc can also form around the smaller black hole and it can accrete at its Eddington rate. Thus, this case is also studied and the results are compared. We find that the effect of the disc will be significant in reducing the coalescence time and one needs to incorporate this while interpreting gravitational wave signals emitted from such a binary system.  相似文献

Using Parikh’s tunneling method, the Hawking radiation on the apparent horizon of a Vaidya-Bonner black hole is calculated. When the back-reaction of particles is neglected, the thermal spectrum can be precisely obtained. Then, the black hole thermodynamics can be calculated successfully on the apparent horizon. When a relativistic perturbation is applied to the apparent horizon,a similar calculation can also lead to a purely thermal spectrum. The first law of thermodynamics can also be derived successfully at the...  相似文献

The aim of this work is to demonstrate the properties of the magnetospheric model around Kerr black holes (BHs), the so-called fly-wheel (rotation driven) model. The fly-wheel engine of the BH–accretion disc system is applied to the statistics of QSOs/AGNs. In the model, the central BH is assumed to be formed at z ∼102 and obtains nearly maximum but finite rotation energy (∼extreme Kerr BH) at the formation stage. The inherently obtained rotation energy of the Kerr BH is released through a magnetohydrodynamic process. This model naturally leads to a finite lifetime of AGN activity.
Nitta, Takahashi & Tomimatsu clarified the individual evolution of the Kerr BH fly-wheel engine, which is parametrized by BH mass, initial Kerr parameter, magnetic field near the horizon and a dimensionless small parameter. We impose a statistical model for the initial mass function (IMF) of an ensemble of BHs using the Press–Schechter formalism. With the help of additional assumptions, we can discuss the evolution of the luminosity function and the spatial number density of QSOs/AGNs.
By comparing with observations , it is found that a somewhat flat IMF and weak dependence of the magnetic field on the BH mass are preferred. The result explains well the decrease of very bright QSOs and decrease of population after z ∼2.  相似文献

The X‐ray spectra of luminous Seyfert 1 galaxies often appear to be reflection dominated. In a number of Narrow Line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxies and galactic black holes in the very high state, the variability of the continuum and of the iron line are decoupled, the reflected component being often much less variable than the continuum. These properties have been interpreted as effects of gravitational light bending. In this framework, we present detailed Monte‐Carlo simulations of the reflection continuum in the Kerr metric. These calculations confirm that the spectra and variability behaviour of these sources can be reproduced by the light bending model. As an alternative to the light bending model, we show that similar observational properties are expected from radiation pressure dominated discs subject to violent clumping instabilities and, as a result, have a highly inhomogeneous two‐phase structure. In this model, most of the observed spectral and variability features originate from the complex geometrical structure of the inner regions of near‐Eddington accretion flows and are therefore a signature of accretion physics rather than general relativity. The transfer of energy and angular momentum in the magnetic coupling (MC) of a rotating black hole (BH) with its surrounding accretion disc is discussed based on a mapping relation derived by considering the conservation of magnetic flux with two basic assumptions: (i) the magnetic field on the horizon is constant, (ii) the magnetic field on the disc surface varies as a power law with the radial coordinate of the disc. The following results are obtained: (i) the transfer direction of energy and angular momentum between the BH and the disc depends on the position of a co-rotation radius relative to the MC region on the disc, which is eventually determined by the BH spin; (ii) the evolution characteristics of a rotating BH in the MC process without disc accretion are depicted in a parameter space, and a series of values of the BH spin are given to indicate the evolution characteristics; (iii) the efficiency of converting accreted mass into radiation energy of a BH–disc system is discussed by considering the coexistence of disc accretion and the MC process; (iv) the MC effects on disc radiation and the emissivity index are discussed and it is concluded that they are consistent with the recent XMM–Newton observation of the nearby bright Seyfert 1 galaxy MCG–6-30-15 with reference to a variety of parameters of the BH–disc system.  相似文献

We estimate the intrinsic luminosities and synchrotron peak frequencies using the derived Doppler factor for a sample of 170 BL Lac objects, of which the synchrotron peak frequency is derived by fitting the SED constructed with the collected multi-band data from the literature. We find that the debeamed radio and optical core luminosities follow the same correlation found for FR I radio galaxies, which is in support of the unification of the BL Lac objects and the FR I galaxies based on orientation. For the debeamed luminosity at the synchrotron peak frequency, we find a significant positive correlation between the luminosity and intrinsic synchrotron peak frequency. This implies that the more powerful sources may have the majority of jet emission at higher frequency. At the synchrotron peak frequency, the intrinsic luminosity and black hole mass show strong positive correlation, while mild correlation is found in the case of jet power, indicating that the more powerful sources may have more massive black holes.  相似文献

In this paper we report the results of axisymmetric relativistic magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations for the problem of a Kerr black hole immersed in a rarefied plasma with 'uniform' magnetic field. The long-term solution shows properties that are significantly different from those of the initial transient phase studied recently by Koide. The topology of magnetic field lines within the ergosphere is similar to that of the split-monopole model with a strong current sheet in the equatorial plane. Closer inspection reveals a system of isolated magnetic islands inside the sheet and ongoing magnetic reconnection. No regions of negative hydrodynamic 'energy at infinity' are seen inside the ergosphere and the so-called MHD Penrose process does not operate. However, the rotational energy of the black hole continues to be extracted via the purely electromagnetic Blandford–Znajek mechanism. In spite of this, no strong relativistic outflows from the black hole are seen to be developing. Combined with results of other recent simulations, our results signal a potential problem for the standard MHD model of relativistic astrophysical jets should they be found at distances as small as a few tens of gravitational radii from the central black hole.  相似文献
