Spectral and photoelectric (ubvy, H, H) observations of the Herbig Ae/Be star HD 259431 are reported. It is found that as its brightness fades, this star becomes bluer in the Paschen continuum and the intensity and equivalent width of the hydrogen emission lines increase. The spectral observations reveal significant variations in the intensity of the Mg II 4481 Å photospheric absorption line. A rise and fall in the luminosity by 0m.04 within a period of 5-7 minutes was recorded. Radical variations in the H lineshape ("double" "P Cyg") and flare activity are not only observed in this star, but also in a number of HAEBE stars. It is suggested that flare activity may initiate a change in the velocity gradient at the base of the wind and, thereby, induce "double P Cyg" or "P Cyg single" transitions. The nonradial pulsations of this star are also discussed.  相似文献

Studies of the Herbig Ae/Be star V586 Ori based on photoelectric observations in the Strömgren system are reported. It is found that as the brightness decreases, the Balmer discontinuity index initially increases and then begins to drop. As the star fades, the index decreases. We have previously found similar variations in the indices and C for UX Ori, RR Tau, and V351 Ori. It is shown that V586 Ori has the characteristics of a shell-star.  相似文献

Results of photoelectric observations in the Strömgren system of the Herbig Ae/Be star LkH 215 are presented. It is found that this star undergoes bursts. Two types of bursts are observed. The amplitude of the first type of burst increases with decreasing wavelength. In the second type of burst, the brightness amplitude has a maximum in the V band.  相似文献

Newly measured continuum energy distribution data of a typical Be star, Cas, is presented in the visible region (3200–8000 Å). The behaviour of the continuum over the broader wavelength range covering the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared regions is summarized. It is found that Cas exhibits large variations in the continuum which are connected with variations in the strength of ultraviolet and infrared excess emissions.From the analysis of the existing data in the visible region it transpires that this star possesses interesting long-term changes of different parameters like colour temperature (T c ), visual magnitude (m v ), total strength of Balmer emission lines (E H ), ratio of violet to red emission component (V/R), and equivalent width of Balmer lines (W H ). The most interesting aspect is the fact that all these parameters are related with one another during the so-called Great Outburst (GO) period which occurred during 1932–1942. The parametersT c ,m v , andE H are also found to be connected to each other throughout their long-term variations.The present investigation shows that Cas has exhibited three phases—Be, Be shell, and normal B — in the past. Since 1866, the first Be phase, lasting about 60 to 70 years, was followed by spectacular variations of about 10 years duration (1932–1942). During this spectacular episode ending with a quasi-normal B phase, two strong shell phases followed by very intense emission phases were observed. Since then, a new, slowly irregularly increasing Be phase which is still persisting has been observed. So far this last Be phase has not shown any outstanding variable characteristics.The present behaviour of the long-term variation ofm v shows that since 1985 Cas has again entered a new phase of activity. We hope that this star will again pass through some new outstanding variability phase during the coming decade.  相似文献

We present our photoelectric observations of the binary star VV8=V471 Per over the period 1971–2007. A long-term photometric variability with a period of about 17 yr in the V and B bands has been confirmed. A systematic rise in brightness was recorded in the U band, suggesting that the gas ionization increases in the binary system. Our spectroscopic observations from 1995 to 2007 have shown that the emission line fluxes, on average, did not change compared to the data of other authors obtained in the previous decades. We have shown that the cool giant is a G5III star and is probably enriched with nucleosynthesis products from the evolved former primary component of the binary. We provide arguments for the hypothesis that the hot component in V471 Per is the massive nucleus of a young planetary nebula that rapidly evolved to a temperature of 65 000–75 000 K, while the surrounding nebula is very dense and optically thick and has not yet been entirely ionized.  相似文献

V 923 Aql is one of the candidateB E stars to be a binary star. In this research, optical and near-infrared spectral measurements of V 923 Aql is presented. V 923 Aql presents variable H Balmer line profiles with shell components. H profiles present R/V, E/C and radial velocity variation. We present the results of spectroscopic and photometric observations for the B star StHα62 with an IR excess, a post-AGB candidate identified with the IR source IRAS 07171+1823. High-resolution spectroscopy has allowed the λ4330–7340 Å spectrum of the star to be identified: it contains absorption lines of an early B star and emission lines of a gaseous shell. The residual line intensities have been measured. The heliocentric radial velocities measured from absorption lines of the star and emission lines of the shell are 〈V r 〉 = +45 ± 1 and +52 ± 1 km s?1, respectively. The line-of-sight velocities of gas-dust clouds determined from the interstellar Na I lines are 12 and 33 km s?1. The He I λ5876 Å line exhibits a P Cyg profile, which is indicative of an ongoing mass loss by the star. The expansion velocity of the outer shell estimated from forbidden lines is 12–13 km s?1. Quantitative classification gives the spectral type B0.51 for the star. The parameters of the gaseous shell have been determined: N e = 3.1 × 103 cm?3 and T e ~ 21 000 K. UBVR c I c observations of SN 2002ap during February, October, and November 2002 at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory are reported. An examination of our photometric data, along with published data, shows that over a period of about a year from the day the SN 2002ap supernova burst, the light curve passed through three developmental stages: a sharp rise, followed by a stage of rapid exponential decrease, and then a slower fading. Based on the shape of the light curve, this supernova is of type SN I, but according to the variation in its color indices, it more likely belongs to the SN Ic supernovae. In the premaximum stage, the energy distribution from 3000 to 6000 resembles the emission from a star of spectral class F5V. In the second stage of the light curve evolution, when the brightness falls off rapidly, the changes in the color indices are associated with a change in the radiation temperature indicative of rapid cooling of the ejected material. Taking the effective radiation temperature in the premaximum stage to be T eff 6500 K, we estimate the expansion velocity of the quasiphotosphere to be about 9700 km/s.  相似文献

We give the results of photographic, photoelectric, and spectral observations of the flare star PP Ori. The 109 photographic observations used, which were obtained on the 40 Schmidt telescope of the Byurakan Observatory over a period of about 20 years, and four spectra obtained on the same telescope with a objective prism show no variation in brightness. Photoelectric observations in the UBVR bands using the 50cm and 60cm telescopes of the high-altitude Maidanak station of the Tashkent Astronomical Institute in 1987 and 1989 give grounds for suspecting a variation in brightness much larger than observational errors. Spectral observations of the star PP Ori made on the 2.6m telescope of the Byurakan Observatory show weak H emission. The recent observations of solar flares, made with a Lyot filter and a spectrograph in H, HeD3, higher Balmer lines, metallic lines, and continuum, are discussed. It is important to study the energy supply of non thermal particle/ conduction/ irradiation into the lower atmosphere from the optical observations with high temporal and spatial resolutions. Simultaneous observations from ground-based observatories and instruments on board satellites are necessary for understanding flare plasma of low and high energy.  相似文献

UBV observations of the X-ray binary system A0535+26/V725 Tau at the Crimean Station of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute in 1980–1998 are presented. Based on our and published data, we analyze the photometric history of the star from 1898. Over a period of 100 years, the star apparently showed all three activity phases (B, Be, Be-shell) of Be stars. We conclude that the X-ray activity of the object is attributable to the 1970–1997 outburst of the Be star due to envelope ejection. The star's colors during the minimum light of 1998 and its 1953–1956 colors (before the outburst) correspond to the spectral type B0–B1 at the color excesses E B-V = 0.74 and E U-B = 0.48, in agreement with the current spectral type O9.7. The minimum light of 1998 and the color excesses are used to determine the colors of the additional radiation, analyze their evolution during the 1973–1997 outburst, and refine the distance to the object (3 kpc). The colors of the additional radiation at maximum light of the star (1973–1980) match the colors of a hydrogen plasma with T e = 1.5 × 104 K which is optically thick in the Balmer continuum. The brightness decline corresponds to a decrease in the optical depth of the plasma; at $V \simeq 9_.^m 1$ , it becomes optically thin in the Balmer continuum with T e = 104 K and N e = 1010 ? 1012 cm?3. This conclusion is consistent with the model of a circumstellar envelope but is inconsistent with the existence of an accretion disk around the neutron star. All the additional radiation responsible for the optical variability is produced by a single source. The intensity of the Hα emission line at maximum light (1975–1980) is triple its intensity in 1987–1997, when quasi-periodic light fluctuations with P ≈ 1400d were observed [1]. At this time, the line intensity correlated with brightness. The Hα line was in absorption at the minimum of 1998, and, at present, the star's active phase appears to have ended.  相似文献

In the field partsH, K, L andM of the Orion Nebula, indicated in Figure 2, no obvious differences do appear in the monochromatic photographs obtained in H+[Nii], [Oii], the visual continuum and the range of the Balmer continuum. A different situation we meet in the rest of the field, where one observes two types of featuresA andB, distinguished in Figure 1 by solid and dashed bordering lines respectively. Relative to the conditions in the H+[Nii] pictures, the typeA areas gain in intensity in the photographs taken in the visual continuum. the emission in the forbidden [Oii] lines at 3727 Å is correlated with H+[Nii], the emission in the range of the Balmer continuum with the visual continuum. According to these properties theA-areas must have a particularly high percentage of scattered star light.Most of the areas with identical monochromatic features show a high deficiency of cluster stars correlated with a low surface brightnesss and a reduced gas density. This is explained by an opaqueness of the emission strata in the direction in the line of sight and a position of the same nearer to the observer than the extension of the cluster. There appear surface structures at large distances from the Trapezium which show a correlation between the intensity of scattered star light and the intensity of the emission of the higher ions ([Oiii], [Neiii]). This observation is considered as a proof that canals through the nebular cloud complex allow in some directions the exciting radiation to reach large distances from the star without having suffered an appreciable absorption or scattering.  相似文献

We present spectral data for three white-light flares (WLFs) showing Balmer continuum at wavelengths 3700 Å. These flares also have a weaker continuum extending toward longer wavelengths, from which, in one flare where this continuum is sufficiently bright, we are able to identify a Paschen jump near 8500 Å. The presence of the latter suggests that the Paschen continuum may be a substantial contributor to the WLF continuum at visible wavelengths. We note the possibility, therefore, that the entire continuum of this particular flare may be dominated by H fb emission.In all three flares the head of the Balmer continuum, as well as the head of the Paschen continuum in the flare where it was identified, is advanced toward longer wavelengths as a result of the blending of the hydrogen emission lines of the respective series. The principal quantum number of the last resolvable line of the Balmer or Paschen series is approximately 16. The electron density, as measured from the halfwidths of the high Balmer lines in two of the flares, is approximately 5 × 1013 cm–3. Long-term photometric and spectroscopic observations of the yellow symbiotic star LT Del are analyzed. UBV light curves are presented. Based on the observations of 20 cycles, we have refined the orbital period of the star, P = 476 · d 0 ± 1 · d 0. The brightness has been found to be unstable at some orbital phases with an amplitude up to 0 · m 3. We have measured the fluxes in hydrogen and helium emission lines and in continuum and investigated their relationship to the orbital period. The fluxes in hydrogen and HeI lines follow the UBV light curves in phase; the He II 4686 Å flux does not depend on the phase and is constant within the accuracy of our measurements. The intensity ratio of the 4686 Å andHβ lines changes from 0.2 to 0.9 over the period. We interpret the spectroscopic observations based on the hypothesis of heating and ionization of the stellar wind from a cool component by high-frequency radiation from a hot star with a temperature of 105 K. We have estimated the spectral type of the cool star from our photometry and its continuum energy distribution as a bright K2–4 red giant branch halo star. The bolometric luminosity and mass loss rate have been estimated for the K component to be L bol ~ 700L and \(\dot{M}\) ~ 10?8 M yr?1, respectively.  相似文献

We present the results of our photoelectric observations of HD 51585 (OY Gem), a B[e] star with an infrared excess and a candidate for protoplanetary nebulae, obtained with a 60-cm telescope at the Crimean Station of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute in 1992–2005. The star exhibited rapid irregular brightness variations with amplitudes from We present the results of our photoelectric observations of HD 51585 (OY Gem), a B[e] star with an infrared excess and a candidate for protoplanetary nebulae, obtained with a 60-cm telescope at the Crimean Station of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute in 1992–2005. The star exhibited rapid irregular brightness variations with amplitudes from in the V band to in U band within the observing season as well as slow systematic variations with amplitudes from in the V band to in the U band and with a quasi-period of ∼2800 days. The B-V color index varied within and did not follow the slow systematic brightness variations, while U-B correlated with the U brightness and varied between at maximum light and at minimum light. Our low-resolution spectroscopy performed in 1994–2005 has revealed significant variability of the Balmer and Paschen hydrogen emission lines as well as the He I and O I lines. Equivalent widths are given for the H I, He I, O I, and Fe II lines; a correlation has been found between the star’s photometric variability and the hydrogen line intensities. Our joint analysis of the photometric and spectroscopic data suggests that variations in a strong stellar wind are responsible for the variability of the star. Original Russian Text ? V.P. The absolute K-band magnitude determined for the object FBS 0137+400 is typical for Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) carbon stars. The large J - K color index as well as large amplitude variability (K > 0.4) and the presence of H in the emission indicate also that this star is a mass-losing long-period Carbon Mira variable with thick circumstellar shell. The IRAS LRS spectrum indicates the presence of a dust shell surrounding this object. Monitoring of the K-band magnitude is necessary for the determination of the pulsation period of FBS 0137+400.  相似文献

The results of photoelectric observations of the Herbig Ae/Be star MWC 1080 in the Strömgren system are given. It was found that MWC 1080 undergoes rapid rises and falls in brightness with an amplitude of up to 0 m .25, occurring in a time interval of from several minutes to several hours. It is shown that MWC 1080 is similar to MWC 342 and MWC 419. It is suggested that there is a fundamental difference between the mechanisms of brightness variation of these three objects and of Herbig Ae/Be stars.  相似文献

We have made high resolution observations of HCN (1-0) emission from the carbon star Y Canum Venaticorum using the Nobeyama Millimeter Array. We find that the emission region is not well resolved by the synthesized beam of 3.7 × 4.6 over the entire velocity range (VLSR =10 to 35 km s–1). We find that the true brightness temperature probably exceeds 200 K at many velocity channels as well as at the 26 km s–1 maser spike. The broad emission component may be the result of superimposed maser spikes. The high brightness requires an unreasonably high HCN fractional abundance if LTE is assumed. It is likely that the HCN abundance previously reported for the star is considerably affected by the maser action. A new maser spike has been found at VLSR = 29 km s–1  相似文献

We report multifrequency observations of storm continuum and other radio bursts. Based on their positional study and their correlation with other coronal and photospheric features, we deduce that the storm source is located in the magnetic field lines lying above a single bipolar active region. Energetic electrons trapped in the magnetic structures above the spots must be responsible for the storm radiation. We show that spontaneous emission of Langmuir waves by anisotropic distributions can explain both storm continuum and bursts self-consistently. Whenever the collisional damping ( c ) is more than the growth (- A ), there is a steady emission responsible for the continuum, and whenever c = - A (which may be satisfied randomly) there is a sudden jump in T b giving rise to bursts. The number density of energetic particles required to explain the storm continuum at 73.8, 50, and 30.9 MHz frequencies is estimated to lie in the limits n b /n e 10–10–10–9 in the context of the present observations.
