The distributions of the positive polarization degree maximum P max and, for the first time, of its phase angle max were mapped (for wavelengths eff = 461 nm and 669 nm) on the basis of polarimetric CCD observations of the eastern hemisphere of the Moon. The distributions of the spectropolarimetric index for the positive polarization degree maximum CP max=P max(669 nm)/P max(461 nm) and of the color of the maximum polarization angle Cmax=max (669 nm)/ max (461 nm) were mapped as well. It has been found that (i) the dependences of max on the logarithm of albedo and on the logarithm of P maxare linearly correlated to a large degree; (ii) the parameters max and P maxdepend on wavelength only due to albedo variations; (iii) there are two branches in the spectropolarimetric index CPmax-albedo correlation diagram: mare regions show anti-correlation, and highlands, correlation. The maps obtained in this study can be useful both for developing remote sensing methods for the Moon and other atmosphereless bodies and for testing models of positive polarization of the light reflected by regolith-like surfaces.Translated from Astronomicheskii Vestnik, Vol. 39, No. 1, 2005, pp. 51–60.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2005 by Korokhin, Velikodsky.  相似文献

An exact analysis of the effects of mass transfer on the flow of a viscous incompressible fluid past an uniformly accelerated vertical porous and non-porous plate has been presented on taking into account the free convection currents. Surface photometry of the UV continuum galaxy NGC 838 has been carried out in theB, V system using photographic plates obtained with the 74 Kottamia telescope, Egypt. Isophotes, luminosity profiles, integrated photographic magnitudes, effective diameters and other photometric parameters are derived. The photoelectrically calibrated total apparent magnitudes areB T =13.57 with maximum diameters 1.57×1.34 (at threshold m =27.7 mag.//) andV T =12.91 with maximum diameters 1.54×1.32 (at threshold m =27.7 mag./). The integrated colour index(B–V) T =0.66 and the effective surface brightness e (B=19.0 mag./) and e (V=19.7 mag./. The major axis is at position angle =85°±1°.The nucleus of NGC 838 is quite blue (integrated colour(B–V)=0.41 forr *<0.1) compared to normal galaxies while the colour becomes redder from the nucleus outwards. The UV excess, H emission and radio continuum emission previously observed from this galaxy by other investigators may be attributed to a recent burst of star formation in the nucleus of the galaxy of duration slightly greater than 2×107 yr.  相似文献

Three different asymptotic branches of the two-fluid equations are found with e m , p n , where, is the inverse distance from the Sun, with (m, n) = (2/7, 2/7), (2/7, 6/7), (4/3, 4/3); other special solutions are also found but they correspond to special choices of density and temperature at the corona. In all the (4/3, 4/3) solutions, the electron and proton temperatures tend to equality at large distances. The National Center for Atmospheric Research is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

Some peculiarities in the behaviour of a model self-gravitating system described by hydrodynamical equations and isothermal equation of state connected with the presence of thermodynamical fluctuations in real systems were investigated in numerical experiment. The values of density and velocity , , respectively, were computed by numerical code perturbed on each time-step and in each computational cell by random values , for modeling such fluctuations. Perturbed values i = i + i ,v i = i + v i were used to initiate the next step of computations. This procedure is equivalent to an introduction into original hydrodynamical equations of Langevin sources which are random functions. It is shown that these small fluctuations (= v =0,2 =v 2 = 10–8) grow many times in marginally-stable state.  相似文献

With a view to furthering the theory of the light changes of eclipsing variables, developed before systematically by Z. Kopal, this paper presents a number of new (and computable) expressions for the associated alpha-function n 0 ,(r1,r2,) (and also for its partial derivatives), where n 0 ,(r1,r2,) represents the fractional loss of light suffered by an eclipse of a circular disc of fractional radiusr 1 (and darkened at the limb to thenth degree) by an opaque disc of radiusr 2, with their centres separated by a fractional (projected) distance , provided that the transparency of the occulting disc increases with the angle of foreshortening in the same manner as the limb-darkening of the eclipsed star (that is, when the transparency functiong(, ) of the second aperture is given by Equation (4) below). Many of the explicit expressions derived here are valid for any type of eclipse, occultation or transit, regardless of whetherr 1>r 2 orr 1<r 2. and for any degreen of the adopted law of limb-darkening. It is also pointed out how some of the results obtained in this paper are related to the various representations given earlier in the literature for the case =0.  相似文献

Two new equations of state obtained for matter constituting isothermal neutron star core by using isentropic nature of matter for the equalities =2 and =3 (where 's are usual adiabatic exponents) have been utilised to discuss the internal temperature of core. The temperature of matter has been obtained asT=T a(P+E)/. Variation ofT/T a(t) with energy density has been discussed for these new equations of state and some standard equations of state for nuclear matter.  相似文献

Thermal convection has considerable influence on the thermal evolution of terrestrial planets. Previous numerical models of planetary convection have solved the system of partial differential equations by finite difference methods, or have approximated it by parametrized methods. We have evaluated the applicability of a finite element solution of these equations. Our model analyses the thermal history of a self-gravitating spherical planetary body; it includes the effects of viscous dissipation, internal melting, adiabatic gradient, core formation, variable viscosity, decay of radioactive nucleides, and a depth dependent initial temperature profile. Reflecting current interest, physical parameters corresponding to the Moon were selected for the model.Although no initial basalt ocean is assumed for the Moon, partial melting is observed very early in its history; this is presumably related to the formation of the basalt maria. The convection pattern appears to be dominated by an L-2 mode. The present-day lithospheric thickness in the model is 600 km, with core-mantle temperatures close to 1600 K. Surface heat flux is 25.3 mW m–2, higher than the steady state-value by about 16%.The finite element method is clearly applicable to the problem of planetary evolution, but much faster solution algorithms will be necessary if a sufficient number of models are to be examined by this method.Notation coefficient of thermal expansion - ij Kronecker delta - absolute or dynamic viscosity - perturbation in temperature - thermal diffusivity - kinematic viscosity - density - stress tensor - B.P. before present - c specific heat at constant pressure or volume (Boussinesq approximation) - d depth of convection - E * activation energy for creep - g gravity - Ga billions of years - H(t) heat generation per unit mass per unit time at timet - k Boltzmann's constant - K mean thermal conductivity - Ma millions of years - p pressure - q heat flux - q ss steady-state heat flux - Ra Rayleigh number - S volumetric heat sources, includes radioactivity and viscous dissipation - t time - T temperature - u verocity vector - V * activation volume for creep  相似文献

It is shown that X-ray radiation of neutron stars with magnetic fieldsB=1011–1013 G near cyclotron resonances=s B (s=1,2,...) is deeply affected by such quantum effects as electron-positron vacuum polarization (significant at V=3×1028 n e –1 (B/B C 4)1, whereB C =4.4×1013G), the quantizing character of the magnetic field (significant atV=3 x 1028 n e –1 (B/B c)41 whereB c =4.4 x 1013G), the non-harmonic character of the Landau levels, and the quantum recoil of electrons. The latter two factors shift the resonances by the frequency –s 2 B (B/2B c )sin2, being the angle between the direction of radiation propagation and the magnetic field. IfVV 0 (for 1,V 0–1=(mc 2/2T)1/2), the normal mode (NM) polarizations, as well as the absorption coefficientk 1 of the extraordinary NM in the Doppler core of the first resonance (|–| B cos ), is only slightly affected by varyingb and/orV, whereas for the ordinary NM (at 1)k 2k 1 2[b + (3 + tan2–2V)2]k 1. For sufficiently largeb and/orV the quantum effects amplify resonant absorption of the ordinary NM at B , with spin-flip transitions playing a major role atb1+V 2. IfVV 0, the coefficientsk 1 andk 2 in the Doppler core of the resonance are of the same order and acquire some peculiar features (shifts, intersections, etc.), with the NM polarizations depending sharply on and being strongly non-orthogonal. AtVV 0,k 2=k 1(cos2 +B/2B C ) and the polarizations are almost linear. Near high resonances (s2), as a rule,k 1,2(1 + b) s–1 2s–3 i.e., absorption increases withb due to replacement of the thermal energy of the transverse motion of electron,T, by the magnetic energy B . The above effects should be taken into account for an interpretation of observational data on X-ray pulsars (e.g., Her X-1) and other X-ray sources associated with neutron stars.  相似文献

The problem of single Compton scattering is considered and the resulting spectrum, angular distribution and polarization of scattered photons in a general case are obtained. The inverse Compton scattering (ICS) for arbitrary energies of electronsE and photons 0 is investigated in detail. In the case of isotropically-distributed initial photons and relativistic electrons, a strong rise of the scattered spectrum near the upper edge takes place, starting from the values of the characteristic parameterb4E 010 (in units of mc2=1). The energy-loss rate of relativistic electrons due to ICS is calculated. It is shown that the relativistic electrons of the energiesE100 MeV, when scattering on the X-rays with 0~10KeV, transmit the dominant part of their energy to the photons which fall after scattering into the energy range of the electrons (100 MeV).The radiation spectrum of ICS, as well as the energy-losses of relativistic electrons distributed by power-lawE , are calculated. The radiation spectrum reveals the power-law behaviour with the different indices in two limits: the dependence –(1)/2 at 01 gradually changes to –(+1) ln (0) law for 01.  相似文献

Infinite series expansions are obtained for the doubly averaged effects of the Moon and Sun on a high altitude Earth satellite, and the results used to interpret numerically integrated examples. New in this paper are: (1) both sublunar and translunar satellites are considered; (2) analytic expansions include all powers in the satellite and perturbing body semi-major axes; (3) the fact that retrograde orbits have more benign eccentricity behavior than direct orbits should be exploited for high altitude satellite systems; and (4) near circular orbits can be maintained with small expenditures of fuel in the face of an exponential driving force one forI ab, whereI b=180°–I a andI a is somewhat less than 39.2° for sublunar orbits and somewhat greater than 39.2° for translunar orbits.Nomenclature a semi-major axis - A lk coefficient defined in Equation (11) - B lk coefficient defined in Equation (24) - C km coefficient defined in Equation (25) - D, E, F coefficients in Equations (38), (39) - e eccentricity - H k expression defined in Equation (34) - expression defined in Equation (35) - I inclination of satellite orbit on lunar (or solar) ring plane - J 2 coefficient of second harmonic of Earth's gravitational potential (1082.637×10–6 R E 2 ) - K k, Lk, Mk expressions in Section 4 - expressions in Section 4 - p=a(1–e 2) semi-latus rectum - P l Legendre polynomial of degreel - q argument of Legendre polynomial - radial distance of satellite - R E Earth equatorial radius (6378.16 km) - R, S, W perturbing accelerations in the radial, tangential and orbit normal directions - syn synchronous orbit radius (42 164.2 km=6.6107R E) - t time - T satellite orbital period - T orbital period of perturbing body (Moon) - T e period of long periodic oscillations ine for |I|<I a - T s synodic period - U gravitational potential of lunar (or solar) ring - x, y, z Cartesian coordinates of a satellite with (x, y) being the ring plane - coefficient defined in Equation (20) - average change in orbital element over one orbit (=a, e, I, , ) - 1,23 unit vectors in thex, y, z coordinate directions - r , s , w unit vectors in the radial, tangential and orbit normal directions - =+ angle along the orbital plane from the ascending node on the ring plane to the true position of the satellite - angle around the ring - gravitational constant times mass of Earth (3.986 013×105 km s–2) - gravitational constant times mass of Moon (or Sun) - m gravitational constant times mass of Moon (/81.301) - s gravitational constant time mass of Sun (332 946 ) - ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter - radius of lunar (or solar) ring - m radius of lunar ring (60.2665R E) - s radius of solar ring (23455R E) - true anomaly - argument of perigee - 0 initial value of - i critical value of in quadranti(i=1, 2, 3, 4) - longitude of ascending node on ring plane This work was sponsored by the Department of the Air Force.  相似文献

Multiple expansion of the tidal potential   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The Earth tidal deformation causes an additional gravitational potential. Its effect on the Moon orbital motion has been studied by several authors. In this contribution, we develop this additional potential without specifying the inertial frame chosen. For this purpose, we use the properties of the representation of rotation groups in 3 dimensions space. We finally obtain the interaction potential between the distorted Earth and the Moon which is a necessary preliminary to the study of the evolution of the Earth-Moon system.Nomenclature T.R.O Tide raising object - (, , ) Spherical coordinates of the T.R.O. - (J, E ) Earth spin axis orientation. It is shown that, for the scalar-tensor cosmology (STC) by Jordan-Brans-Dicke (JBD), in general anisotropic solution the oscillatory mixmaster regime near the singularity will be destroyed by the scalar source-free field and replaced by monotonousV 3-collapse into the point or into the line and plane (only in caseG0) even in the presence of the primordial source-free electromagnetic (EM) field.  相似文献

New families of three-dimensional double-symmetric periodic orbits are determined numerically in the Sun-Jupiter case of the restricted three-body problem. These families bifurcate from the vertical-critical orbits ( v = – 1, b v – 0) of the basic plane familiesi, g 1, g2, c andI. Further, the predictor-corrector procedure employed to reveal these families has been described and interesting numerical results have been pointed out. Also, computer plots of the orbits of these families have been shown in conical projections.  相似文献

Cyclotron waves in the solar wind near 1 AU with frequencies well below the electron cyclotron frequency and wavelengths much larger than the electron cyclotron radius but less than the proton cyclotron radius are considered. The cyclotron radii are defined from parallel thermal velocity of electron component and proton component with respect to the interplanetary magnetic field. No LH cyclotron waves are found to propagate for p < 0, where p 1 –T p/T p is the temperature anisotropy of the proton component with respect to the interplanetary magnetic field. The damping or growth of RH cyclotron waves is found to depend on the frequency range and the temperature anisotropy of the proton component. The RH cyclotron waves are damped in the frequency range r | p | p for p < 0, where p is the proton cyclotron frequency. RH cyclotron instabilities occur in the frequency range | p | p > r > | p | p /(1– r ) for p < 0. The marginal state is at r =| p | p .Abstract presented at theInternational Symposium on Solar-Terrestrial, São Paulo, Brazil, 17–22 June, 1974  相似文献

We prove existence and multiplicity of T-periodic solutions (for any given T) for the N-body problem in m (any m 2) where one of the bodies has mass equal to 1 and the others have masses 2,..., N , small. We find solutions such that the body of mass 1 moves close to x = 0 while the body of mass i moves close to one of the circular solutions of the two body problem of period T/k i, where ki is any odd number. No relation has to be satisfied by k 2,...,k N.  相似文献

On the basis of empirical (D)-dependency at the frequency of 5 GHz constructed using 15 planetary nebulae with the independently measured distances (10–171×10–20 W m–2 Hz–1 ster–1), we evaluated distances of 335 objects. Independent evidence of the correctness of the accepted scale are given. Then(D)-dependency is constructed and it is shown that atD<0.08 pc the mean electron density is higher than the one determined by the Seaton method. We showed that the filling factor diminishes with the increase of the PN diameter (1 atD0.08 pc and 0.2 atD0.4 pc). the ionized mass of 33 PNs is determined. With the diameter increase the ionized mass grows and atD0.4 pc reaches the valueM0.07M . We used the new distance scale when investigating the space distribution of PNs. The mean scale height =130±15 pc and the mean gradient of the change of surface densitym=0.37, which allowed us to estimate the total number of nebulae in the GalaxyN4×104. We divided the PNs according to their velocities (withV LSR>35 km s–1 andV LSR<35 km s–1) and permitted us to confirm that the PN belong to different sub-systems of the Galaxy. The estimated local formation rate of PNs [=(4.6±2.2)×10–12 pc–3 yr–1] is a little higher than the one of the white dwarfs. That can be explained by a large number of PNs having binary cores, which used in our sample. The statistical estimation of PN expansion velocity showed thatV ex increases from 5–7 km s–1 (atD0.03 pc) to 40–50 km s–1 (atD0.8 pc).  相似文献

On the basis of the solutions obtained in the previous paper, the changes in the scenario of the standard model of the Big Bang are found. The chaos degree (constrainst on fluctuation spectra) is obtained, which could be still preserved by the initially completely chaotic Universe at the time of light elements nucleosynthesist es. The time boundaries of hadron and lepton eras and the time the electron neutrinos and neutrons become frozen in reactions of weak interaction may be shifted up to 1.4 times. The corresponding temperatures may shift off from the standard ones 0.88 times if the mean-square level of fluctuations is close to unity. If the density of the energy of fluctuations concentrated in the short-wave region of the spectrum is less than 1.5 , the nucleosynthesis leads to a helium abundance coinciding with the observe one. If at the timet es the maximum of the spectral density of the energy is in the long-wave region, that is max ct es the level of the chaos during the period of nucleosynthesis is restricted to 1.76 (where |C K |2 d3 K,C K is Fourier component of the amplitude of metric fluctuations). In particular, the protogalactic vortical disturbances with a wide spectrum 4 × 103 -1( = K/K, = /crit) are compatible with the observed helium abundance.  相似文献
