True relative Sr isotopic compositions, determined by the double-spike technique, are reported for 8 olivine chondrules from Allende and a single chondrule from Richardton. The Richardton chondrule has an Sr composition identical with the whole meteorite, but the Allende chondrules are up to 1.4‰ per mass unit light-isotope enriched, closely similar to Ca-Al inclusions (CAI) from the same individual stone. The correspondence of the patterns for chondrules and CAI suggests that both groups of objects derived their fractionated Sr in similar ways. The lack of any detectable non-linear Sr isotopic anomaly in the objects suggests that their Sr compositions did not have some exotic or extrasolar origin, but were derived from normal solar system Sr by mass fractionation. The consistent light-Sr enrichment of Allende objects may be explained by several schemes, and all are heavily model-dependent. Most plausible to the author is that the CAI and chondrules derived their fractionated Sr from a region of the nebula made isotopically light by partial kinetic mass separation of elements in the vapour phase. Later, the solid objects may have moved to an isotopically more normal region, where the Allende matrix accreted.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of samples of the Olivenza chondrite (LL5) obtained from four collections have been investigated. The natural remanent magnetization (NRM) consists of a very stable primary component, which is randomly scattered in direction on a scale of 1 mm3 or less within the samples, and a secondary magnetization widely varying in intensity, and probably also in direction. The origin of the secondary NRM is not clear, and may be of terrestrial origin. It is concluded that the NRM is carried by the ordered nickel-iron mineral, tetrataenite. The origin of the primary NRM could be a magnetic field associated with the solar nebula, out of which the metal grains condensed and acquired a thermo-remanent magnetization (TRM), or Olivenza could be a fine-grained breccia, the constituent fragments possessing randomly directed magnetization. The implications for the origin and evolution of Olivenza and its parent body if the former magnetizing process has occurred are discussed.  相似文献

Magnetite in the oxidized CV chondrite Allende mainly occurs as spherical nodules in porphyritic-olivine (PO) chondrules, where it is associated with Ni-rich metal and/or sulfides. To help constrain the origin of the magnetite, we measured oxygen isotopic compositions of magnetite and coexisting olivine grains in PO chondrules of Allende by an in situ ion microprobe technique. Five magnetite nodules form a relatively tight cluster in oxygen isotopic composition with delta 18O values from -4.8 to -7.1% and delta 17O values from -2.9 to -6.3%. Seven coexisting olivine grains have oxygen isotopic compositions from -0.9 to -6.3% in delta 18O and from -4.6 to -7.9% in delta 17O. The delta 17O values of the magnetite and coexisting olivine do not overlap; they range from -0.4 to -2.6%, and from -4.0 to -5.7%, respectively. Thus, the magnetite is not in isotopic equilibrium with the olivine in PO chondrules, implying that it formed after the chondrule formation. The delta 17O of the magnetite is somewhat more negative than estimates for the ambient solar nebula gas. We infer that the magnetite formed on the parent asteroid by oxidation of metal by H2O which had previously experienced minor O isotope exchange with fine-grained silicates.  相似文献

本文根据求得的无穷远边界上作用的外力主矢量为常量的共线双半无限长裂纹的平面问题的线性解答,分析了应力场的定性特征:张压应力区的边界和裂纹将全平面分成六个区域,其分布主要由外力主矢量的方向所决定。对线性解答及其稳定性问题的讨论,使我们可从理论上分析裂纹的扩展方式,求得较“库仑破裂准则”强的破裂条件(主要依赖于外应力主矢量的方向)並给出了破裂长度的近似表达式。根据地质力学的观点,在地震孕育的整个过程中,可假定外应力沿同一方向持续加强,计算表明弹性变形使得该方向相对于闭锁段发生偏转,从而使整个孕育过程按外应力主矢量所达到的特定方向分为两个阶段:第一阶段,裂纹无扩展,通过以时间为参数的附加应力场的计算,讨论了上述微小偏转所引起的应力场的变化;第二阶段,裂纹扩展,即闭锁段两端发生纯剪切位错,通过该双位错所引起附加应力场的计算分析了该阶段的应力特征,並探讨了地震序列与大震的关系。最后讨论了平面非共线双半无限长直裂纹问题,得到了前述类似的结论。  相似文献

The energy of the initiation of incipient cracks by groups of dislocations in crystalline substance is considered. The distribution of such cracks over energy obtained in the paper has the same form as the recurrence law, supporting the hypothesis that the latter is bounded from below by incipient cracks initiated by groups of dislocations.  相似文献

Large olivine samples were hot-pressed synthesized for shock wave experiments. The shock wave experiments were carried out at pressure range between 11 and 42 GPa. Shock data on olivine sample yielded a linear relationship between shock wave velocity D and particle velocity u described by D=3.56(?0.13)+2.57(?0.12)u. The shock temperature is determined by an energy relationship which is approximately 790°C at pressure 28 GPa. Due to low temperature and short experimental duration, we suggest that no phase change occurred in our sample below 30 GPa and olivine persisted well beyond its equilibrium boundary in metastable phase. The densities of metastable olivine are in agreement with the results of static compression. At the depth shallower than 410 km, the densities of metastable olivine are higher than those of the PREM model, facilitating cold slab to sink into the mantle transition zone. However, in entire mantle transition zone, the shock densities are lower than those of the PREM model, hampering cold slab to flow across the "660 km" phase boundary.  相似文献

An analysis of the textures of pallasites has been made using data concerning the kinetic and rheological properties of silicates and metals. Pallasites containing rounded olivines (e.g., the Springwater and Brehnam pallasites) have been heated to above the solidus temperature of the metallic iron phases, ~ 1270 K. The rounded olivines of grain size 0.5–1.0 cm observed in the Springwater pallasites were formed between 1270 and 1370 K. On the other hand, those of grain size 0.5–1.0 mm as found in the Brehnam pallasites may have been heated to above 1370 K; however, the duration of heating at such high temperatures must have been less than 5 × 103 y. Pallasites containing angular olivines with microscopically rounded corners (e.g., the Eagle Station, Dora pallasites) have suffered shock events fracturing the olivine grains, which may correspond to collisions during the accretional stage of the parent body, and experienced successive annealing during cooling from a temperature between 1150 and 1270 K.  相似文献

Foliations defined by alignment of elongated chondrules have been noted previously in chondrites, but none displays this effect so well as Leoville (CV3). The shapes of Leoville chondrules were produced by deformation in situ, as indicated by inclusions and clasts with similar shapes and preferred orientations to those of chondrules. Similarities in the aspect ratios of apparent strain ellipses measured for chondrules alone (1.9 and 2.0 by several methods) and for the whole meteorite (2.0) indicate either that Leoville deformed homogeneously or that it deformed as a framework of touching chondrules. This amount of strain corresponds to approximately 33% uniaxial shortening, assuming constant volume. Because the strain ellipse was measured in only one orientation, this strain value is a minimum estimate for the meteorite. Lack of correlation between foliation and either shock or thermal effects argues that impact or metamorphism are unlikely to have produced this deformation. Compaction due to overburden from progressive accretion on the chondrite parent body is suggested to have been its cause.Estimates of maximum deviatoric stresses in the interiors of asteroid-sized bodies and constraints on maximum temperatures for CV3 chondrites are consistent with diffusional flow as the deformation mechanism for olivine in these chondrules. Diffusional flow is also suggested by the scarcity of observed lattice dislocations. Deformation of Leoville olivines by this mechanism at geologically reasonable strain rates appears to require higher temperatures than those believed to have been experienced by this meteorite (< 600°C). However, differences in olivine grain size, the presence of water, or a more complex deformation history might explain this discrepancy.  相似文献

Thirty-three of 52 type L4 to L6 chondrites that we have examined in thin section contain closed bodies of crystal-laden glass or devitrified glass (melt pockets) that testify to in-situ melting. A close correlation between the distribution of melt pockets and shock intensity as inferred from the characteristics of olivine and plagioclase indicates that the pockets reflect shock melting. The appearance of pockets coincides with a sharp decrease of40Ar in L-group chondrites, suggesting that shock melting was responsible for loss of argon and raising the possibility that this process redistributed other volatile elements as well. The use of three criteria for shock intensity — olivine and plagioclase characteristics, and the presence or absence of melt pockets — leads to a refined shock classification for equilibrated chondrites that is based entirely on petrographic observations.  相似文献

利用冲击波进行的动高压实验对研究超高压下的物质性质也是十分有效的.本文报告了对大麻坪采集的橄榄石进行压力在10~45GPa范围的冲击波动高压实验结果.结合前人等温冷压实验结果,确定了实验过程的温度,对于冲击波实验压力从10GPa变化到30GPa时,温度在摄氏几十度到摄氏800多度之间.测量了岩石超高压下密度变化,在3.627~4.009g·cm~(-3)之间.通过回收实验和确定的温度,表明小于30GPa压力实验条件下,没有发生相变过程.同时也确定了状态方程的参数.最后,指出了实验结果在上地幔地球内部物质运动过程的含义,即冷板块中的亚临界橄榄岩可以存在地幔转换带中.  相似文献

A new technique for high-precision isotopic analyses of Ni was developed and applied to terrestrial samples, Allende inclusions and materials from other meteorites. Most of the Allende inclusions analysed here were previously reported to contain isotopically anomalous Ti. In contrast, the Ni isotopic abundances are indistinguishable from normal within presently obtainable precision with only one possible exception. The latter inclusion was shown by others to contain a significantly fractionated magnesium isotopic pattern of 9‰/amu. A normal Ni isotopic pattern has also been observed for the chromite/carbon fraction of an Allende acid residue which is known to contain heavy noble gases of highly anomalous isotopic composition. All other meteoritic samples analysed (Khohar matrix and chondrules, Murray matrix, a Tieschitz chondrule and an Orgueil magnetic fraction) also show normal isotopic compositions of Ni; no evidence for effects from now extinct60Fe could be detected. In spite of ubiquitous isotopic anomalies in Ti from normal Allende inclusions, there is no signature of isotopic variations in Ni from the same samples. Possible constraints for the nucleosynthesis of iron peak elements and for astrophysical and cosmochemical conditions during formation of the solar system are discussed.  相似文献

Ar analyses are reported for five coarse-grained, Ca-Al-rich inclusions from the Allende meteorite. The samples were neutron-irradiated in individual evacuated ampoules, and the Ar gas in the ampoules as well as the samples was analyzed. A large fraction (up to 60%) of the39Ar from39K (n, p) reactions was lost out of the inclusions into the ampoules. The39Ar losses resulted in substantial increases in the apparent40Ar-39Ar ages of the samples.39Ar recoil loss during neutron-irradiation is a major effect and must be accounted for in40Ar-39Ar dating. All of the Allende inclusions studied contained substantial trapped36Ar. The origin of the trapped36Ar is unknown, and the possible presence of trapped40Ar cannot be excluded. Ar measurements on Allende inclusions which have yielded anomalously old ages must be re-examined in the context of39Ar recoil loss and possible contributions of trapped40Ar. Allende inclusions appear on both accounts to be poor candidates to search for relicts of presolar materials with well-defined K/Ar ages.  相似文献

Meteorites represent the earliest records of the evolution of the solar system, providing information on the conditions, processes and chronology for formation of first solids, planetesimals and differentiated bodies. Evidence on the nature of magnetic fields in the early solar system has been derived from chondritic meteorites. Chondrules, which are millimeter sized silicate spherules formed by rapid melting and cooling, have been shown to retain remanent magnetization records dating from the time of chondrule formation and accretion of planetesimals. Studies on different meteorite classes, including ordinary and carbonaceous chondrites, have however provided contrasting results with wide ranges for protoplanetary disk magnetic fields. Developments on instrumentation and techniques for rock magnetic and paleointensity analyses are allowing increased precision. Micromagnetic and an array of geochemical, petrographic and electronic microscopy analyses provide unprecedented resolution, characterizing rock magnetic properties at magnetic domain scales. We review studies on chondrules from the Allende meteorite that reveal relationships among hysteresis parameters and physical properties. Coercivity, remanent and saturation remanence parameters correlate with chondrule size and density; in turn related to internal chondrule structure, mineralogy and morphology. Compound, fragmented and rimmed chondrules show distinct hysteresis properties, related to mineral composition and microstructures. The remanent magnetization record and paleointensity estimates derived from the Allende and other chondrites support remanent acquisition under influence of internal magnetic fields within parent planetesimals. Results support that rapid differentiation following formation of calcium-aluminum inclusions and chondrules gave rise to differentiated planetesimals with iron cores, capable of generating and sustaining dynamo action for million year periods. The Allende chondrite may have derived from a partly differentiated planetesimal which sustained an internal magnetic field.  相似文献

The Ca-Al-rich inclusions within Allende are described as quickly frozen non-equilibrated partial melts arising from energetic collisions between centimeter-sized mechanical accumulations of cold presolar grains. The resulting minerals are refractory-rich because refractory supernova condensates are the most persistent components of the preheated accumulates. The shock heating drives off most of the more volatile matrix that had accumulated cold around the refractory cores, which quickly recrystallize while picking up isotopically homogenized trace elements. This picture is advanced to account for the isotopic anomalies in those elements for which fractionation of stardust from gas also fractionates a special isotope whose stellar condensation history can be expected to have been special.I call the anomaly that would have existed before the special component was added anisotopic ghost. These ghosts can be larger than the special anomaly surviving today in meteorites and planets. I argue that ghosts in26Mg/24Mg,87Sr/86Sr, and206,207Pb/204Pb have caused erroneous cosmoradiogenic estimates of large age differences between meteorites, their special phases, and even the Moon.  相似文献

Olivine crystals in mare basalts 12004,8 and 12022,12 are normally zoned with Cr-poor rims. The Ni content of rare 2–10-μm metal inclusions in olivine decreases markedly as Fe/Mg in their immediate olivine hosts increases. Each metal grain appears to have been enclosed by late olivine almost immediately after it crystallized. The fractionation trend for the olivine and metal contrasts with the subsolidus equilibration trend for pallasites. For the basalts, not even local equilibration of Fe, Ni and Co at metal/olivine interfaces can be detected by microprobe. Ni and Co concentrations range from about 300 ppm in olivine cores to about 70 ppm in rims. The limits of detection, at 95% confidence, are 36 ppm (Ni) and 25 ppm (Co). The distribution of Ni and Co in olivine, like that of Mg and Cr, records the depletion of these elements in the melt.Fractional solidification models, using the Ni and Co concentrations of the whole rock, and Ni and Co concentrations of the earliest formed olivine, metal and “opaques” as initial compositions, allow metal and olivine compositions to be predicted if the order of crystallization is known. Conversely the order of crystallization can be established if known olivine and metal compositions are reproduced. Calculated Ni and Co contents for metal and olivine in these basalts correspond to observed concentrations only where metal precipitation is delayed until the liquid has crystallized 4–5 wt.% olivine.  相似文献

We present numerical results of thermal-mechanical feedback in crustal quartz rheology and contrast this behavior to the vastly different character of an olivine mantle. In the numerical experiments quartz is found to have a very strong tendency for short-time-scale instabilities, while our numerical experiments show that olivine has a decisive tendency for a stable thermally lubricated slip. At the same time, olivine can also go through a transitional period of creep bursts, which are physically caused by multiple interacting ductile faults at various length and time scales which collocate quickly into a major shear zone. Since olivine has this strong propensity to self organize in a large apparently stable fault system, it lacks the dynamics of interacting ductile faults evident in other minerals. Quartz behaves totally different and keeps its jerky slip behavior for prolonged deformation. An example is shown here in which a 30 × 50 km piece of a wet quarzitic crust is extended for about 2 Ma. The associated total displacement field clearly shows the unstable slipping events, which have a characteristic time frame of one to several years, In contrast, olivine is very stable and has a much longer time scale for thermal instability of 100 kyrs.  相似文献

本文研究了橄榄石原位相变实验中加载、加热路径上的相变及其对确定相变动力学参数的影响.利用文献[1]所给出的退火后先加温后加压,且相对低温条件下实验结果确定出的Ni2SiO4橄榄石相变动力学参数,计算了加载、加热路径上所发生的相变对确定成核率、长大率及相变体积分数的影响.结果表明,退火后先加压后加温,且相对高温条件下的实验数据受到加热路径上成核的影响.根据这样的实验数据得到的成核率会明显高于实际温压条件下的成核率.尤其是当多数实验都是高温实验时,根据这些成核率数据所确定的成核率参数会严重偏离其真值,从而严重影响对俯冲带颗粒粒度及俯冲带流变结构的计算.尽管目前有很多关于Mg2SiO4橄榄石长大率的实验数据,也有通过对挤碰物理图像的分析对(Mg0.89Fe0.11)2SiO4橄榄石成核率的估算,但只有文献[2]通过退火后先加压后加温的原位实验得到了Mg2SiO4橄榄石的相变成核率,且属于高温实验.根据本文的研究结果,我们认为亟需补充退火后先加温后加压或相对低温的实验数据以得到正确的地幔橄榄石成核率参数.  相似文献

Scattering of Seismic Waves by Cracks with the Boundary Integral Method   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
— We develop a new scheme to compute 2-D SH seismograms for media with many flat cracks, based on the boundary integral method. A dry or traction-free boundary condition is applied to crack surfaces although other kinds of cracks such as wet or fluid-saturated cracks can be treated simply by assigning different boundary conditions. While body forces are distributed for cavities or inclusions to express scattered wave, dislocations (or displacement discontinuities between the top and the bottom surfaces of each crack) are used as fictitious sources along crack surfaces. With these dislocations as unknown coefficients, the scattered wave is expressed by the normal derivative of Green's function along the crack surface, which is called “double-layer potentials” in the boundary integral method, while we used “single-layer potentials” for cavities or inclusions. These unknowns are determined so that boundary conditions or crack surfaces are satisfied in the least-squared sense, for example, traction-free for dry cracks. Seismograms with plane-wave incidence are synthesized for homogeneous media with many cracks. First, we check the accuracy of our scheme for a medium with one long crack. All the predicted phases such as reflected wave, diffraction from a crack tip and shadow behind the crack are simulated quite accurately, under the same criterion as in the case for cavities or inclusions. Next, we compute seismograms for 50 randomly distributed cracks and compare them with those for circular cavities. When cracks are randomly oriented, waveforms and the strength of scattering attenuation are similar to the cavity case in a frequency range higher than k d $\simeq$ 2 where the size of scatterers d (i.e., crack length or cavity diameter) is comparable with the wavelength considered (k is the wavenumber). On the other hand, the scattering attenuation for cracks becomes much smaller in a lower frequency range (k d<2) because only the volume but not detail geometry of scatterers becomes important with wavelength much longer than each scatterer. When all the cracks are oriented in a fixed direction, the scattering attenuation depends strongly on the incident angle to the crack surface as frequency increases (k d>2): scattering becomes weak for cracks oriented parallel to the direction of the incident wave, while it gets close to the cavity case for cracks aligned perpendicular to the incident wave.  相似文献

On the basis of two assumptions i.e. (1) plastic and anelastic behaviour of the upper mantle can be approximated by the behaviour of the dominant mineral olivine, and (2) the behaviour of natural olivine and synthetic forsterite are similar, we have investigated the flow laws and the flow microstructures of forsterite single crystals. The results obtained between 1400–1650°C and 10–100 MPa suggest a model of climb controlled creep in which the a edge dislocations are dominant. The activation energy measured in that regime is 4.7 eV, close to that of Si self-diffusion and the flow law is ??=106σ2.6exp(?4.7eV/kT), where σ is in MPa. Extrapolation of these results to the upper mantle would imply very low stresses (i.e. ?10 MPa) in the asthenosphere. However the effect of pressure and grain size are unknown and extrapolation to very low stresses is not straightforward.  相似文献
