The electron surfing acceleration in the current sheet with perpendicular propagating electrostatic waves is studied using analytical theories and test particle simulations. The trapped electron moving with the phase velocity v p of wave may be accelerated effectively in the outflow direction by force until the electron is de-trapped from the wave potential. A criterion K>0 for the electron surfing acceleration is obtained. The electron will escape from the boundary of current sheet quickly, if this criterion does not hold. The maximum velocity of surfing acceleration is about the same as the electric drift velocity. Superposed longitudinal magnetic field along the wave propagation is favorable for the electron surfing acceleration in the current sheet.   相似文献

A Lagrangian Remap (LareXd) Code is employed to investigate the shock wave formation in the current sheet of a solar coronal magnetic loop and its effect on the magnetic reconnection. We constructed the slow shock structure in the presence of viscosity and heat conduction parallel and perpendicular to the magnetic field and pairs of slow shocks propagate away from the central current sheet, the so-called diffusion region. Significant jumps in plasma density, pressure, velocity and magnetic field occur across the main shock while the temperature appears in the foreshock. In the presence of dissipative effects, the distinct jumps disappear and the shock profiles show smooth transition between the downstream and the upstream regions while the plasma density and the pressure show very narrow and a sharp decrease with time. These results can be applied to the heating of the solar corona, the structure of the magnetic reconnection and the solar wind.  相似文献

Relations between integrable systems in plane and curved spaces   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We consider trajectory isomorphisms between various integrable systems on an n-dimensional sphere S n and a Euclidean space . Some of the systems are classical integrable problems of Celestial Mechanics in plane and curved spaces. All the systems under consideration have an additional first integral quadratic in momentum and can be integrated analytically by using the separation of variables. We show that some integrable problems in constant curvature spaces are not essentially new from the viewpoint of the theory of integration, and they can be analyzed using known results of classical Celestial Mechanics.  相似文献

The dynamical stability of a bound triple system composed of a small binary or minor planetary system moving on a orbit inclined to a central third body is discussed in terms of Hill stability for the full three-body problem. The situation arises in the determination of stability of triple star systems against disruption and component exchange and the determination of stability of extrasolar planetary systems and minor planetary systems against disruption, component exchange or capture. The Hill stability criterion is applied to triple star systems and extrasolar planetary systems, the Sun-Earth-Moon system and Kuiper Belt binary systems to determine the critical distances for stable orbits. It is found that increasing the inclination of the third body decreases the Hill regions of stability. Increasing the eccentricity of the binary also produces similar effects. These type of changes make exchange or disruption of the component masses more likely. Increasing the eccentricity of the binary orbit relative to the third body substantially decreases stability regions as the eccentricity reaches higher values. The Kuiper Belt binaries were found to be stable if they move on circular orbits. Taking into account the eccentricity, it is less clear that all the systems are stable.  相似文献

The Kozai mechanism often destabilizes high-inclination orbits. It couples changes in the eccentricity and inclination, and drives high inclination, circular orbits to low inclination, eccentric orbits. In a recent study of the dynamics of planetesimals in the quadruple star system HD 98800, there were significant numbers of stable particles in circumbinary polar orbits about the inner binary pair which are apparently able to evade the Kozai instability.
Here, we isolate this feature and investigate the dynamics through numerical and analytical models. The results show that the Kozai mechanism of the outer star is disrupted by a nodal libration induced by the inner binary pair on a shorter time-scale. By empirically modelling the period of the libration, a criteria for determining the high-inclination stability limits in general triple systems is derived. The nodal libration feature is interesting and, although affecting inclination and node only, shows many parallels to the Kozai mechanism. This raises the possibility that high-inclination planets and asteroids may be able to survive in multistellar systems.  相似文献

This work presents a possible luminosity estimator for long γ-ray bursts (GRBs) based on their light curves. We use the method of variability analysis in the time domain to calculate the power density spectrum (PDS) for each of the 12 GRBs with known redshifts observed by CGRO/BATSE. The peak of the power density spectrum P is a measure of the intensity of variability of the given light curve and a strong correlation is found between P and the isotropic peak luminosity L of the GRB. It is a successor to the lag-luminosity relation of Norris et al. (2000) and the variability-luminosity relation of Reichart et al. (2001).  相似文献

The force-free limit of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) is often a reasonable approximation to model black hole and neutron star magnetospheres. We describe a general relativistic force-free (GRFFE) formulation that allows general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic (GRMHD) codes to directly evolve the GRFFE equations of motion. Established, accurate and well-tested conservative GRMHD codes can simply add a new inversion piece of code to their existing code, while continuing to use all the already-developed facilities present in their GRMHD code. We show how to enforce the   E · B = 0  constraint and energy conservation, and we introduce a simplified general model of the dissipation of the electric field to enforce the   B 2− E 2 > 0  constraint. We also introduce a simplified yet general method to resolve current sheets, without much reconnection, over many dynamical times. This formulation is incorporated into an existing GRMHD code ( harm ), which is demonstrated to give accurate and robust GRFFE results for Minkowski and black hole space–times.  相似文献

Damped Ly-α (DLA) systems are responsible to the strongest absorption in quasar spectra, and it is traditionally assumed that DLA systems are progenitors of present day galaxies. In this work we deal with spiral galaxies, considering the hypothesis that spirals from early to late types may represent part of observed DLA systems. We present a one-zone chemo-spectrophotometric evolution model of spiral galaxies with self-consistent inclusion of dust evolution, and compare chemical evolution of spiral galaxies corrected for the dust depletion with chemical abundances observed in DLA systems over available redshift range. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

In the solar system satellite systems of Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus are typical ones. The distribution of the semi-major axis of satellite orbits in each system may be expressed by an empirical formula corresponding to the Titius-Bode law. We found that it can be written as an = B′ · Bn, where B′ and B are constants. Values of B′ and B depend on formation conditions of each system. Satellites should be formed in the gas-satellitesimal disk around a planet and by aggregation of satellitesimals. The gas is the major component in the disk and its damping effect must play an important role in the process of aggregation of satellitesimals. It may be proved that radial small perturbation in the disk can cause the gravitational instability and the formation of gaseous rings with increased density, where satellitesimals can easy aggregat into satellites.  相似文献

Using the numerical techniques developed by Froeschlé et al. (Science 289 (5487): 2108–2110, 2000) and by Lega et al. (Physica D 182: 179–187, 2003) we have studied diffusion and stochastic properties of an a priori unstable 4D symplectic map. We have found two different kinds of diffusion that coexist for values of the perturbation below the critical value for the Chirikov overlapping of resonances. A fast diffusion along some resonant lines that exist already in the unperturbed case and a slow diffusion occurring in regions of the phase space far from such resonances. The latter one, although the system does not satisfy the Nekhoroshev hypothesis, decreases faster than a power law and possibly exponentially. We compare the diffusion coefficient to the indicators of stochasticity like the Lyapunov exponent and filling factor showing their behavior for chaotic orbits in regions of the Arnold web where the secondary resonances appear, or where they overlap.  相似文献

It is believed that orphan afterglow searches can help to measure the beaming angle in gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). Great expectations have been put on this method. We point out that the method is in fact not as simple as we originally expected. As a result of the baryon-rich environment that is common to almost all popular progenitor models, there should be many failed gamma-ray bursts, i.e. fireballs with Lorentz factor much less than  100–1000  , but still much larger than unity. In fact, the number of failed gamma-ray bursts may even be much larger than that of successful bursts. Owing to the existence of these failed gamma-ray bursts, there should be many orphan afterglows even if GRBs are due to isotropic fireballs, then the simple discovery of orphan afterglows never means that GRBs are collimated. Unfortunately, to distinguish between a failed-GRB orphan and a jetted but off-axis GRB orphan is not an easy task. The major problem is that the trigger time is unknown. Some possible solutions to the problem are suggested.  相似文献

We present a global view of the resonant structure of the phase space of a planetary system with two planets, moving in the same plane, as obtained from the set of the families of periodic orbits. An important tool to understand the topology of the phase space is to determine the position and the stability character of the families of periodic orbits. The region of the phase space close to a stable periodic orbit corresponds to stable, quasi periodic librations. In these regions it is possible for an extrasolar planetary system to exist, or to be trapped following a migration process due to dissipative forces. The mean motion resonances are associated with periodic orbits in a rotating frame, which means that the relative configuration is repeated in space. We start the study with the family of symmetric periodic orbits with nearly circular orbits of the two planets. Along this family the ratio of the periods of the two planets varies, and passes through rational values, which correspond to resonances. At these resonant points we have bifurcations of families of resonant elliptic periodic orbits. There are three topologically different resonances: (1) the resonances (n + 1):n, (2:1, 3:2, ...), (2) the resonances (2n + 1):(2n-1), (3:1, 5:3, ...) and (3) all other resonances. The topology at each one of the above three types of resonances is studied, for different values of the sum and of the ratio of the planetary masses. Both symmetric and asymmetric resonant elliptic periodic orbits exist. In general, the symmetric elliptic families bifurcate from the circular family, and the asymmetric elliptic families bifurcate from the symmetric elliptic families. The results are compared with the position of some observed extrasolar planetary systems. In some cases (e.g., Gliese 876) the observed system lies, with a very good accuracy, on the stable part of a family of resonant periodic orbits.  相似文献

Our work deals with the dynamical possibility that in extrasolar planetary systems a terrestrial planet may have stable orbits in a 1:1 mean motion resonance with a Jovian like planet. We studied the motion of fictitious Trojans around the Lagrangian points L4/L5 and checked the stability and/or chaoticity of their motion with the aid of the Lyapunov Indicators and the maximum eccentricity. The computations were carried out using the dynamical model of the elliptic restricted three‐body problem that consists of a central star, a gas giant moving in the habitable zone, and a massless terrestrial planet. We found 3 new systems where the gas giant lies in the habitable zone, namely HD99109, HD101930, and HD33564. Additionally we investigated all known extrasolar planetary systems where the giant planet lies partly or fully in the habitable zone. The results show that the orbits around the Lagrangian points L4/L5 of all investigated systems are stable for long times (107 revolutions). (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. The dynamics of two counter-streaming electron–positron–ion unmagnetized plasma shells with zero net charge is analysed in the context of magnetic field generation in gamma-ray burst internal shocks due to the Weibel instability. The effects of large thermal motion of plasma particles, arbitrary mixture of plasma species and space charge effects are taken into account. We show that, although thermal effects slow down the instability, baryon loading leads to a non-negligible growth rate even for large temperatures and different shell velocities, thus guaranteeing the robustness and the occurrence of the Weibel instability for a wide range of scenarios.  相似文献

We present results from a search for additional transiting planets in 24 systems already known to contain a transiting planet. We model the transits due to the known planet in each system and subtract these models from light curves obtained with the SuperWASP (Wide Angle Search for Planets) survey instruments. These residual light curves are then searched for evidence of additional periodic transit events. Although we do not find any evidence for additional planets in any of the planetary systems studied, we are able to characterize our ability to find such planets by means of Monte Carlo simulations. Artificially generated transit signals corresponding to planets with a range of sizes and orbital periods were injected into the SuperWASP photometry and the resulting light curves searched for planets. As a result, the detection efficiency as a function of both the radius and orbital period of any second planet is calculated. We determine that there is a good (>50 per cent) chance of detecting additional, Saturn-sized planets in   P ∼  10 d orbits around planet-hosting stars that have several seasons of SuperWASP photometry. Additionally, we confirm previous evidence of the rotational stellar variability of WASP-10, and refine the period of rotation. We find that the period of the rotation is  11.91 ± 0.05  d, and the false alarm probability for this period is extremely low  (∼10−13)  .  相似文献

It was found that these distances were sufficiently short suggesting that the presence of further as yet unobserved stable extrasolar planets in observed systems was very likely.  相似文献
