The response of the Pagasitikos Gulf to enrichment caused by run-off fertilizers and the development and evolution of harmful algal blooms is investigated through ecosystem modelling. A standard generic complex model has been developed to describe the ecosystem processes of Pagasitikos and has been validated with in situ data. Additionally external nutrient fluxes have been assimilated and incorporated into the ecosystem dynamics. The investigation of spatial effects due to nutrient enrichment is investigated along a North–South transect. When externally forced the model successfully assimilates the external river inputs producing nutrient and chlorophyll-a concentrations, which are in good agreement with the in situ data. The nutrient inputs result in a more stable ecosystem at the north part of the Gulf and in the development of eutrophic conditions. The changes in the ecosystem functioning with emphasis on the nutrient cycling, the increase of primary production, and the modes of operation are investigated and discussed.  相似文献

Following the MS6.4 earthquake that occurred on May 21, 2021 in Yangbi, Yunnan, China, the earthquake emergency response system (EERS) responded immediately. The real-time software delivered many seismic parameters that provided a preliminary assessment of the earthquake. The 24-hour on-duty staff and scientific researchers revised these parameters and produced more detailed reports to understand the cause of the earthquake and the potential damage, which provided valuable information for emergency rescue operations and earthquake situation assessment. Emergency personnel were dispatched immediately to the earthquake site to observe the aftershocks, investigate the damage, and guide and assist in the relief efforts. This paper describes the EERS response to the Yangbi earthquake to demonstrate the characteristics of the system and discuss the potential for further improvement.  相似文献

An exact solution is presented for the transient response of viscously damped Bernoulli-Euler beams with arbitrary boundary conditions that are subjected to directly applied dynamic loads in addition to arbitrary support motion. It is shown that, for certain system characteristics, the wave-like progression of the disturbance may have a significant influence on the structural response of such beams.  相似文献

本文就地球电离层对行星际激波的动力学响应进行三维全球数值模拟研究.背景行星际磁场为螺旋场,南北分量为零;初始电离层由Ⅰ区场向电流和相应的晨昏电场所主导;行星际激波沿日地连线方向撞击地球.模拟结果表明,在激波的作用下,电离层Ⅰ区电流系统向子夜方向运动,在向阳侧相继出现与原Ⅰ区电流反向的异常场向电流对和同向的新生Ⅰ区电流对.该异常场向电流对在极盖区形成瞬间昏晨电场,尾随原Ⅰ区电流向夜侧方向漂移直至湮没.与此同时,新生的Ⅰ区电流不断增强并向夜侧和赤道方向延伸,最终取代原Ⅰ区电流,相应极盖区又恢复到原来的晨昏电场状态.这一响应过程和行星际激波强度有关:激波强度越强,新生的Ⅰ区场向电流也越强,它向赤道方向延伸的距离也越大,能到达的纬度也越低.上述结果在趋势上与观测到的输运对流涡旋和亚极光块的运动特征一致.  相似文献

A method for analyzing the earthquake response of elastic, cylindrical liquid storage tanks under vertical excitations is presented. The method is based on superposition of the free axisymmetrical vibrational modes obtained numerically by the finite element method. The validity of these modes has been checked analytically and the formulation of the load vector has been confirmed by a static analysis. Two forms of ground excitations have been used: step functions and recorded seismic components. The radial and axial displacements are computed and the corresponding stresses are presented. Both fixed and partly fixed tanks are considered to evaluate the effect of base fixation on tank behaviour. Finally, tank response under the simultaneous action of both vertical and lateral excitations is calculated to evaluate the relative importance of the vertical component of ground acceleration on the overall seismic behaviour of liquid storage tanks.  相似文献

The response of base-isolated buildings to gusting wind is analysed theoretically based on experimental data obtained in a boundary layer wind tunnel. A comparison is made with the response evaluated using existing codes. An efficient method for accurately modelling the gradual opening and closing of joints in two-dimensional slabs and arches has been devised. The method is used in computing the earthquake response of an arch which is a representative horizontal cross-section of a concrete arch dam. Responses of the arch with and without joints are compared to assess the effect of joint opening. An extension to three-dimensional arch dams is proposed.  相似文献

Presented is a systematic approach, for analysing the vertical motion, tendon force and foundation uplift of a tension-leg platform (TLP) when the subsea soil is excited by vertical seismic waves. The complex problem of multiple interactions among the soil, foundation, fluid and platform can be mathematically modelled using the substructure technique. Having obtained the frequency dependent impedance function for each substructure, the total system is then solved in the frequency domain. A specific TLP is analysed to show the application of the procedures developed and the importance of response to vertical seismic excitation.  相似文献

Expansion and contraction of the hyporheic zone due to temporal hydrologic changes between stream and riparian aquifer influence the biogeochemical cycling capacity of streams. Theoretical studies have quantified the control of groundwater discharge on the depth of the hyporheic zone; however, observations of temporal groundwater controls are limited. In this study, we develop the concept of groundwater‐dominated differential hyporheic zone expansion to explain the temporal control of groundwater discharge on the hyporheic zone in a third‐order stream reach flowing through glacially derived terrain typical of the Great Lakes region. We define groundwater‐dominated differential expansion of the hyporheic zone as: differing rates and magnitudes of hyporheic zone expansion in response to seasonal vs. storm‐related water table fluctuation. Specific conductance and vertical hydraulic gradient measurements were used to map changes in the hyporheic zone during seasonal water table decline and storm events. Planar and riffle beds were monitored in order to distinguish the cause of increasing hyporheic zone depth. Planar bed seasonal expansion of the hyporheic zone was of a greater magnitude and longer in duration (weeks to months) than storm event expansion (hours to days). In contrast, the hyporheic zone beneath the riffle bed exhibited minimal expansion in response to seasonal groundwater decline compared to storm related expansion. Results indicated that fluctuation in the riparian water table controlled seasonal expansion of the hyporheic zone along the planar bed. This groundwater induced hyporheic zone expansion could increase the potential for biogeochemical cycling and natural attenuation.  相似文献

To study the effectiveness of sliding supports in isolating structures from damaging earthquake ground motions, a mathematical model of a single degree of freedom structure supported on a sliding foundation and subjected to the N-S component of the El Centro 1940 earthquake is considered. Spectra for absolute accelerations, relative displacements, relative-to-ground displacements, sliding displacements and residual sliding displacements are evaluated for three mass ratios, four coefficients of friction and a damping of 5 per cent critical. It is observed that, for structures with periods less than 1-8 s, for the coefficients of friction considered, the suprema of relative-to-ground displacements, sliding displacements and residual sliding displacements are only of the order of 1–25 times the peak ground displacement. To study the response sensitivities, the spectra for absolute acceleration and sliding displacement of the 1949 Olympia earthquake (S86E component) are also presented. It is concluded that sliding supports can be quite effective in isolating structures from support excitations.  相似文献

The problem of response of a single degree of freedom structure supported on a sliding foundation and subjected to harmonic support motions is considered. The non-linear governing equations of motion are derived. It turns out that these equations are linear in each sliding and non-sliding phase and can be solved in closed forms in each phase. The equations for evaluation of the beginning and ending times of different phases are also formulated and solved numerically. The response for different coefficients of friction and various levels of excitation is evaluated and presented graphically. It is concluded that sliding supports can be quite effective in isolating structures from support excitations.  相似文献

A pumping test in a granite aquifer provides information about the interaction between the upper weathered zone and lower fractured zone. A radial flow numerical model is used to interpret the test and estimate aquifer parameters. This model successfully reproduces both the fractured zone response and the shallow weathered zone response which is characterised by increasing drawdown even after abstraction ceases. When the deep fractured aquifer was exploited, a serious decline in groundwater heads and yields occurred; this behaviour can be reproduced by the model. The model is then used to investigate the effective long-term exploitation of the aquifer and the results indicate that dug-cum-bore wells can be used for the safe and efficient exploitation of the aquifer resources.  相似文献
