Moderate dispersion (46 Å mm–1 at H) image-tube spectrum (5800–7300 Å) of the S star 1 Gru is found to exhibit several unidentified molecular features, in addition to the well-known bands of the oxides ofs-process elements. A list is presented of 28 measured unidentified red-degraded bands, of which six, at 5998, 6128, 6143, 6223, 6257, and 6557 Å, are prominent. Of the reported 28 bands, 22 are observed for the first time. A discussion is included on the expected molecular sources of the unidentified features. The possible presence of two new molecules, Pr O and Nd O, in 1 Gru is suggested.This paper is dedicated to the memory of Dr. M. K. V. Bappu.  相似文献

Medium-resolution (1.5-2.5 Å) spectrum has been obtained for SC star GP Ori in a wide range of wavelengths from 3730 to 6250 Å. It is characterised mainly by strong atomic lines, as well as moderately strong bands of the CN violet system and CH (0,0) and (0,1) bands at 4315 and 4890 Å. Weak bands of C2, C3, and ZrO molecules are observed, however, no evidence is found for the presence of either SiC2 (Merrill-Sanford bands) or YO. The most prominent atomic lines along with the NaID12 are those of CaII (K,H), CaI at 4227 Å, SrI at 4607 Å, SrII at 4077 and 4215 Å, and BaII at 4554 Å. H seems to be in emission.  相似文献

We detected the resonance lithium doublet, 7LiI λ6708, in the spectra of the symbiotic Mira V407 Cyg (P≈763d) obtained with a resolution R = λ/Δλ ≈ 18 500. The line equivalent width is ~0.34 Å. The presence of lithium in the atmosphere of the Mira, which, judging by its period, appreciably ascended the asymptotic giant branch (AGB), can be explained by the penetration of its convective envelope into the hot-bottom-burning (HBB) hydrogen-shell source. At the same time, the spectrum of V407 Cyg does not reveal the ZrO λ5551, 6474 absorption bands, which are used to classify S-type stars from low-resolution spectra. We found only weak ZrO λ5718, 6412 bands, which are, however, invisible in low-resolution spectra. Thus, the Mira star V407 Cyg should be classified as being of the spectral type M. In general, the spectrum of V407 Cyg is similar to the spectrum of the red giant in the symbiotic star CH Cyg, but the latter exhibits no lithium lines. The switch-on of the HBB process without any significant enrichment of the atmosphere of an AGB star with s-process elements implies that the third dredge-up is not efficient for some of these stars.  相似文献

A high-resolution spectrum clearly shows the presence of A 6Σ+X 6Σ+(0,0;0,1;1,0;2,0;2,1) and (2,2) bands system of CrH molecular lines in the spectral range 10,000 cm−1 to 14,050 cm−1. At least 3928 lines of the six bands, accounting for 57% of the lines registered in the laboratory can be identified with certainty in the sunspot spectrum. Most of the lines are found blended with TiO, CaH, MgH and other atomic species. These molecular lines are typically much more temperature sensitive than atomic lines, which make them ideal, complementary tool for studying cool stellar atmospheres as well as the internal structure of sunspots. Equivalent width for an adequate number of well identified molecular lines of these bands using the Gaussian-profile approximation method versus rotational quantum number J has been used to determine the effective rotational temperature of the CrH molecule. The range of effective rotational temperature value obtained from these bands is 1766 K to 2442 K. This range agrees well with the effective rotational temperatures derived for other molecules in sunspot umbrae.  相似文献

The unidentified absorption feature at 9730±5 Å observed in the spectra of pure S stars is provisionally identified with the predicted 9732 Å (0,0) band of thee 1II-c 1 transition of ZrO molecule. Relative band strengths and band head positions ofthis transition in the 8300–12 500 Å region are presented to assist both laboratory and stellar spectral studies. The insistent need for the laboratory study of gas phase infrared spectrum of ZrO is accentuated.  相似文献

The optical spectrum of the post-AGB star HD56126 identified with the infrared source IRAS07134+1005 is studied in detail using high spectral resolution observations (R = 25000 and 60000) performed with the echelle spectrographs of the 6-m telescope. A total of about one and a half thousand absorptions of neutral atoms and ions, absorption bands of C2, CN, and CH molecules, and interstellar bands (DIBs) are identified in the 4012 to 8790 Å Å wavelength interval, and the depths and radial velocities of these spectral features are measured. Differences are revealed between the variations of the radial velocities measured from spectral features of different excitation. In addition to the well-known variability of the Hα profile, we found variations in the profiles of a number of FeII, YII, and BaII lines. We also produce an atlas of the spectrum of HD56126 and its comparison star α Per. We present red spectra in the region ∼ λ 7000–8300 Å of the eclipsing dwarf nova IP Peg, with simultaneous narrow-band photometry centred at 7322 Å. We show that by placing a second star on the slit we can correct for the telluric absorption bands which have hitherto made the TiO features from the secondary star unusable. We use these TiO features to carry out a radial velocity study of the secondary star, and find this gives an improvement in the signal-to-noise ratio of a factor of 2 compared with using the Na  i doublet. In contrast with previous results, we find no apparent ellipticity in the radial velocity curve. As a result we revise the semi-amplitude to K 2=331.3±5.8 km s−1, and thus the primary and secondary star masses to 1.05-0.07+0.14 M⊙ and 0.33-0.05+0.14 M⊙ respectively. Although this is the lowest mass yet derived for the secondary star, it is still overmassive for its observed spectral type. However, the revised mass and radius bring IP Peg into line with other cataclysmic variables in the mass–radius–period relationships.
By fitting the phase-resolved spectra around the TiO bands to a mean spectrum, we attempt to isolate the light curve of the secondary star. The resulting light curve has marked deviations from the expected ellipsoidal shape. The largest difference is at phase 0.5, and can be explained as an eclipse of the secondary star by the disc, indicating that the disc is optically thick when viewed at high inclination angles.  相似文献

We present high signal precision optical reflectance spectra of 2005 FY9 taken with the Red Channel Spectrograph and the 6.5-m MMT telescope on 2006 March 4 UT (5000-9500 Å; 6.33 Å pixel−1) and 2007 February 12 UT (6600-8500 Å; 1.93 Å pixel−1). From cross-correlation experiments between the 2006 March 4 spectrum and a pure CH4-ice Hapke model, we find the CH4-ice bands in the MMT spectrum are blueshifted by 3 ± 4 Å relative to bands in the pure CH4-ice Hapke spectrum. The higher resolution MMT spectrum of 2007 February 12 UT enabled us to measure shifts of individual CH4-ice bands. We find the 7296, 7862, and 7993 Å CH4-ice bands are blueshifted by 4 ± 2, 4 ± 4, and 6 ± 5 Å. From four measurements we report here and one of our previously published measurements, we find the CH4-ice bands are shifted by 4 ± 1 Å. This small shift is important because it suggest the presence of another ice component on the surface of 2005 FY9. Laboratory experiments show that CH4-ice bands in spectra of CH4 mixed with other ices are blueshifted relative to bands in spectra of pure CH4-ice. A likely candidate for the other component is N2-ice because its weak 2.15 μm band and blueshifted CH4 bands are seen in spectra of Triton and Pluto. Assuming the shift is due to the presence of N2, spectra taken on two consecutive nights show no difference in CH4/N2. In addition, we find no measurable difference in CH4/N2 at different depths into the surface of 2005 FY9.  相似文献

The transformation of the line and molecular spectra of R CrB from absorption to emission at the 1985 minimum is traced from spectroscopic observations, and it is concluded for the first time, from a comparison with light curves and color indices, that the rapid variation of the color index UB by –0m.6 during fading is due exclusively to this transformation. The transformation of the spectrum can result in an increase in the star's brightness in the UBV photometric bands by about 1m.4, 0m.75, and up to 0m.75, respectively. This removes one of the main objections to using the concept of a homogeneous spherical shell to interpret the R Coronae Borealis phenomenon. High-resolution spectroscopic observations of SV Sge, a star with variability of the R Coronae Borealis type, showed the presence of an intense circumstellar component in Na I D lines with a violet shift corresponding to 240 km/sec, which is unrelated to visible brightness minima. It is suggested that a stream of matter with such a velocity through the star's vicinity is the cause of the excitation not only of the broad emission features observed during brightness minima upon fading of the photospheric emission but also of the narrow ones. Assuming that a brightness minimum is associated with the temporary formation of another spherical screening shell, some characteristics of the permanent shell are determined. Its optical depth and geometrical thickness are 0.2-0.7 and at least 0.4 of its radius, respectively.  相似文献

The evaluation of the planetary Fourier spectrometer performance at Mars is presented by comparing an average spectrum with the ISO spectrum published by Lellouch et al. [2000. Planet. Space Sci. 48, 1393.]. First, the average conditions of Mars atmosphere are compared, then the mixing ratios of the major gases are evaluated. Major and minor bands of CO2 are compared, from the point of view of features characteristics and bands depth. The spectral resolution is also compared using several solar lines. The result indicates that PFS radiance is valid to better than 1% in the wavenumber range 1800-4200 cm−1 for the average spectrum considered (1680 measurements). The PFS monochromatic transfer function generates an overshooting on the left-hand side of strong narrow lines (solar or atmospheric). The spectral resolution of PFS is of the order of 1.3 cm−1 or better. A large number of narrow features to be identified are discovered.  相似文献

Line and band intensities of Mira type variables from Keenan's Catalogue (1966) and some other sources are discussed in relation to statistical population indices characterizing positions and motions of these stars. Residual intensity estimates of Ca 4226, Cr 4254, TiO, VO, ScO, YO prove to be stronger in population I Miras, whereas H em line is definitely stronger in population II stars. The coefficient of correlation between residual line or band intensity and the partial statistical population index, depending principally on the star distance to the galactic plane, grows with increasing mass number of the corresponding element.  相似文献

We present the monitoring results for the H2O maser toward the infrared source IRAS 06308+0402 associated with a dense cold molecular cloud. The observations were carried out with the 22-m radio telescope at the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory (Russia) during 1992–2003. The H2O maser was discovered in May 1992 (Pashchenko 1992) during a survey of IRAS sources associated with dense cold clouds with bipolar molecular outflows. The H2O spectrum contains many emission features, suggesting the fragmentation of the envelope around a young star. The star has a low peculiar velocity relative to the CO molecular cloud (~2.2 km s?1). We found a cyclic variability of the total maser flux with a period from 1.8 to 3.1 yr.  相似文献

Based on the material of multiple high-resolution R = 60 000 observations conducted on the 6-m telescope (BTA) of the Special Astrophysical Observatory in combination with the Nasmyth Echelle Spectrograph (NES), we closely studied the features of the optical spectrum of the star MWC17 with the B[e] phenomenon. In the wavelength interval of 4050–6750 Å, we identified numerous permitted and forbidden emissions, interstellar Na I lines, and diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs). Radial velocities were estimated from lines of different origin. As the systemic velocity, Vsys, the velocity of the forbidden emissions can be accepted: ?47 kms?1 (relative to the local standard Vlsr = ?42 kms?1). Comparison of the obtained data with the earlier measurements allows us to conclude on the absence of considerable variability of spectral details.  相似文献

We present the results of our UBV and JHKLM photometry for the semiregular pulsating variable V1027 Cyg, a supergiant with an infrared excess, over the period from 1997 to 2015 (UBV) and in 2009–2015 (JHKLM). Together with the new data, we analyze the photometric observations of V1027 Cyg that we have obtained and published previously. Our search for a periodicity in the UBV brightness variations has led to several periods from P = 212d to 320d in different time intervals. We have found the period P = 237d based on our infrared photometry. The variability amplitude, the lightcurve shape, and themagnitude of V1027 Cyg atmaximum light change noticeably from cycle to cycle. The deepest minimum was observed in 2011, when the amplitudes of brightness variations in the star reached the following values: ΔU = 1 . m 28, ΔB = 1 . m 10, ΔV = 1 . m 05, ΔJ = 0 . m 30, ΔH = 0 . m 35, ΔK = 0 . m 32, ΔL = 0 . m 26, and ΔM = 0 . m 10. An ambiguous correlation of the B ? V and U ? B colors with the brightness has been revealed. For example, a noticeable bluing of the star was observed during the deep 1992, 2008, and 2011 minima, while the variations with smaller amplitudes show an increase in B ? V at the photometric minima. The spectral energy distribution for V1027 Cyg from our photometry in the range 0.36 (U)–5.0 (M) μm corresponds to spectral types from G8I to K3I at different phases of the pulsation cycle. Low-resolution spectra of V1027 Cyg in the range λ4400–9200 ?A were taken during 16 nights over the period 1995–2015. At the 1995 and 2011 photometric minima the star’s spectrum exhibited molecular TiO bands whose intensity corresponded to spectral types M0–M1, while the photometric data point to a considerably earlier spectral type. We hypothesize that the TiO bands are formed in the upper layers of the extended stellar atmosphere. We have measured the equivalent widths of the strongest absorption lines, in particular, the infrared Ca II triplet in the spectrum of V1027 Cyg. The calcium triplet (Ca T) with W λ(Ca T) = 20.3 ± 1.8 ?A as a luminosity indicator for supergiants places V1027 Cyg in the region of the brightest G–K supergiants. V1027 Cyg has been identified with the infrared source IRAS 20004+2955 and is currently believed to be a candidate for post-AGB stars. The evolutionary status of the star and its difference from other post-AGB objects are discussed.  相似文献

The zirconium oxide (ZrO) is well known for its astrophysical importance. The radiative transition parameters that include Franck-Condon (FC) factor, r-centroid, electronic transition moments, Einstein coefficient, band oscillator strengths, radiative life time and effective vibrational temperature have been estimated for e 1Π–X 1Σ+ and 1Σ+X 1Σ+ band systems of 90ZrO molecule for the experimentally known vibrational levels using RKR potential energy curves. A reliable numerical integration method has been used to solve the radial Schr?dinger equation for the vibrational wave functions of upper and lower electronic states based on the latest available spectroscopic data and known wavelengths. The estimated radiative transition parameters are tabulated. The effective vibrational temperatures of these band systems of 90ZrO molecule are found to be below 4200 K. Hence, the radiative transition parameters help us to ascertain the presence of 90ZrO molecule in the interstellar medium, S stars and sunspots.  相似文献

We present the results of our study of the poorly known B[e] star AS 160=IRAS 07370-2438. The high-resolution spectrum obtained with the 6-m BTA telescope exhibits strong emission in the Hα line with a two-component profile, indicating that the gaseous envelope of the star is nonspherical. Previously nonanalyzed photometric data suggest the presence of a compact dust envelope. The fundamental parameters of the star (log L/L = 4.4 ± 0.2, v sin i = 200 km s?1 and its distance (3.5±0.5 kpc) have been determined for the first time and are in agreement with published estimates of the MK spectral type of the object (B1.5 V:). Analysis of the object's properties leads us to suggest that this is a binary system that belongs to our recently identified type of Be stars with warm dust.  相似文献

Evolutionary and atmospheric models have become available for young ultralow‐mass objects. These models are being used to determine fundamental parameters from observational properties. TiO bands are used to determine effective temperatures in ultralow‐mass objects, and together with Na‐ and K‐lines to derive gravities at the substellar boundary. Unfortunately, model calibrations in (young) ultralow‐mass objects are rare. As a first step towards a calibration of synthetic spectral features, I show molecular bands of TiO, which is a main opacity source in late M‐dwarfs. The TiO ε ‐band at 8450 Å is systematically too weak. This implies that temperatures determined from that band are underestimated, and I discuss implications for determining fundamental parameters from high resolution spectra. Unidentified infrared emission bands (UIR bands) have been attributed to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which are believed to require ultraviolet radiation in order for the UIR bands to be excited. If, in addition to amorphous carbon and hydrogenated amorphous carbon (HAC) particles, PAHs are able to form in the outflows of cool carbon-rich stars (Cherchneff et al. 1991), then the weak UV radiation field from such stars would be unlikely to be able to excite the UIR bands and so the PAH species could remain undetected in the spectra of C-stars. However, cool carbon stars with hot companions might be exposed to strong enough UV radiation fields for UIR-band emission to be excited from PAHs. Buss et al. (1991) reported the detection of the 8 μm UIR-band (C-C stretch) in the IRAS LRS spectrum of HD 38218 (TU Tau), a carbon star with a hotter A2III companion. To investigate the phenomenon further, we have therefore obtained UKIRT CGS3 10 μm spectra of three carbon stars with hot companions, TU Tau, UV Aur and CS776. It was found that TU Tau showed the 11.25 μm and 8.6 μm UIR-bands (both attributed to C-H bend modes) at good contrast, while UV Aur clearly exhibited the 11.25 μm UIR band. No narrow UIR-band emission was detected in the spectrum of CS776. We have fitted these 10 μm region spectra using a χ2-minimization program equipped to fit stellar and dust emission continua together with the broad SiC feature and the narrow UIR-bands. The features seen in the spectra of TU Tau and UV Aur can be well fitted by a narrow 11.25 μm UIR-band sitting on top of a broad, self-absorbed 11.3 μm silicon carbide feature. Our results therefore provide strong support for the supposition that PAHs can form in carbon star outflows. In this paper of the series we analyze three stars listed among stars with discrepant v sin i: HD9531 and HD31592, which also show radial velocity variations inherent to spectroscopic binaries, and HD129174 which is an Mn-type star with a possible magnetic field. In HD9531 we confirm the radial velocity derived fromthe hydrogen lines as well as fromthe Ca II line at 3933 Å as variable. The profile of the calcium line also appears variable, and with the estimated magnetic induction Be = ?630 ± 1340 G, this suggests that the abundance of calcium possibly varies over the surface of the star. We identified the lines of the secondary component in the spectrum of HD31592 revealing thus it is an SB2 binary with B9.5V and A0V components. While the primary star rotates with v sin i = 50 km s?1, the secondary star is faster with v sin i = 170 km s?1. We find that only 60% of the Mn lines identified in the spectrum of HD129174 can be fitted with a unique abundance value, whereas the remaining lines are stronger or fainter. We also identified two Xe II lines at 5339.33 Å and 5419.15 Å and estimated their log g f.  相似文献
