We present observations and light curve analysis of the eclipsing binary R CMa in the narrow band filters v and b. Observations were made during 1993 at Biruni Observatory and the light curves have been analyzed using the Wilson-Devinney light curve interpretation program. Assuming a semi-detached configuration for R CMa, the parameters i, Ω1, L 1, T 2 and A 2 were adjusted for the best fit between the synthesized light curves and observations. Both light curves were fitted well with a lower value of bolometric albedo than what would be expected for a normal cool star with a convective envelope. The masses of the primary and secondary components and the absolute dimensions of the stars have been calculated using the derived relative dimensions from Wilson-Devinney codes and the spectroscopic observations.  相似文献

In this study we present the new R and I light curve solutions for the eclipsing binary systems RW CrB and VZ Leo, which for VZ Leo is the first one in the literature. Our new observations have been analyzed using the Wilson-Devinney code from which new geometric and photometric elements are derived. The geometry of both stars is that of a semi-detached binary system where the secondary component fills its Roche lobe while the primary component is well inside. In the case of RW CrB, asymmetry in the light curve was explained by a spot model. The orbital period changes of both systems were studied and the results indicated a period decrease which can be explained by angular momentum loss. We also investigated the possibility of pulsations of the primary components since these systems are mentioned as candidates of δ Sct type pulsation. However, a time-series analysis of the residual curves in the filter I does not indicate any evidence of periodic light variation for both systems. Finally, we compared the results obtained for both binary stars to those of similar systems.  相似文献

We present photometric analysis of 8 short-period eclipsing binaries discovered and observed at Astronomical Observatory at Kolonica Saddle between 2007 and 2010 with different instruments. We determined their orbital periods and performed photometric analysis of their light curves. We found that 3 systems are detached binaries, 4 systems are over-contact binaries of W UMa type and one system is semi-detached with the secondary component filling its Roche lobe. Light curves of 2 systems exhibit asymmetries, explained by spot(s) on the surface of the components.  相似文献

This paper presents a new CCD Bessell VRcIc light curves and photometric analysis of the newly discovered RS CVn type eclipsing binary star V1034 Her. The light curves were obtained at the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Observatory in 2006. Variations of the orbital period of the system were firstly studied. The (O − C) diagram with a low range of observing time of about 20 years shows an upward parabola, which indicates a secular increase in the orbital period of the system. The light curves are generally those of detached eclipsing binaries; however, there are large asymmetries between maxima. The VRcIc light curves were analysed with two different fitting procedures: Wilson–Devinney method supplemented with a Monte Carlo type algorithm and Information Limit Optimization Technique (ILOT). Our general results find V1034 Her. as a well detached system, in which the components are filling 65% of their Roche lobes. Light curve asymmetries of the system are explained in terms of large dark starspots on the primary component. The primary star shows a long-lived spot distribution with active longitudes in the same hemisphere.  相似文献

New photoelectric BVR light curves and radial velocity curves were obtained for the HIPPARCOS discovery DN Boo at the TÜBİTAK1 National Observatory of Turkey (TUG) and Dominion Astrophysical Observatory (DAO), respectively, to determine physical nature of the variable. The character of the obtained light curves and double-lined spectroscopic structures in the obtained spectra are revealed that DN Boo is a genuine EW type eclipsing binary. During the analysis of our new observations a simultaneous solution were derived for the photometric and spectroscopic data by using the Wilson–Devinney code and orbital parameters with absolute dimensions of the system were determined for the first time. Finally, the importance of very low mass-ratio contact binaries in the late stages of close binary evolution was discussed.  相似文献

The first complete CCD light curves of the eclipsing binary system V370 Cygni have been obtained in the B, V, R and I filters during 5 consecutive nights in 2005 at Kryoneri Observatory, Greece. These curves were analyzed with the Wilson–Devinney program in order to determine the geometrical and physical parameters of the system. The analysis indicates a semi-detached configuration and a mildly evolved state of the system.

We present the V light curves of δ Scuti type variable V350 Peg, obtained between August and October 2005 at the Ankara University Observatory (AUG) and the TüBíTAK National Observatory (TUG). By application of multiple-frequency analyses using Period04 to 7878 photometric V measurements (which are consist of our 747 V data and 7131 V data obtained at Monegrillo Observatory) of V350 Peg, a five-frequency solution was found to be fitted well to the data. In accordance with the computed Q values for V350 Peg, it was found that this star has probably radial mode with l=0 and g-mode oscillations.  相似文献

This paper presents the first analysis of spectroscopic and photometric observations of the eclipsing binary star WZ Hor. Observations of the system were made at the Mt. John University Observatory in 2007. Since the light contribution of the secondary component was merely 2-3% of the total light of the system in the optical wavelengths, the radial velocity of the primary component could only be determined using the cross-correlation method. A single-lined spectroscopic orbital solution of WZ Hor was obtained, and the BVRI light curves of the system and radial velocity curve of the primary component were analysed simultaneously using the Wilson-Devinney method. The results describe WZ Hor as a reverse Algol-like binary star with a detached configuration. The following absolute parameters of the components were also derived: M1 = 1.51 ± 0.03 M, M2 = 0.66 ± 0.01 M, R1 = 1.62 ± 0.02 R, R2 = 0.66 ± 0.01 R, L1 = 4.93 ± 0.64 L and L2 = 0.09 ± 0.02 L. The distance to WZ Hor was calculated as 95 ± 8 pc using distance modulus with correction for interstellar extinction, in agreement with the HIPPARCOS value.  相似文献

V1159 Ori is an ER UMa sub-type cataclysmic variable belonging to the SU UMa type, and the controversial BZ UMa lies between the U Gem type and the WZ Sge type, but it possesses also the periodicity characteristics of SU UMa. We have made photometric observations of these two cataclysmic variables with the 1m RCC optical telescope in Yunnan Astronomical Observatory from Feb. 24th to 25th, 2008. The obtained light curves of V1159 Ori exhibit superhumps in the descending stage of a normal outburst, this provides an observational evidence for the universal existence of superhumps in ER UMa-type stars. During our observations BZ UMa was at the maximum of an outburst, but no evident superhump period was detected. The previous observations made by AAVSO (American Association of Variable Star Observers) also have never found any definite superhump. This demonstrates that BZ UMa probably is not a SU UMa-type variable. According to the range of its magnitude variations, BZ UMa is closer to WZ Sge.  相似文献

We present photometric and spectroscopic observations of the eclipsing binary system BI CVn. Wilson–Devinney analysis of its light and radial velocity curves showed that the system is a W-subtype overcontact W-UMa type binary. We computed the absolute physical parameters of the system based on a mass ratio spectroscopically determined in this study. Though the orbital period had changed somehow in the past, it has remained constant for a long time since March 1999, contradicting the previous interpretations suggesting a cyclic variation superimposed on a quadratic change.  相似文献

The eclipsing binary NN Vir is a short period system showing an EW‐type light curve. Photometric observations of NN Vir were done by Gomez‐Ferrellad & Garcia‐Melendo (1997) at Esteve Duran Observatory. We used photometric data of NN Vir for light curve analysis. The available spectroscopic data of NN Vir is new and we also used the first radial velocity data of this system obtained by Rusinski & Lu (1999) for analysis. The radial velocity and light curves analysis was made with the latest version ofWilson program(1998) and the geometric and physical elements of the system are derived. By searching the simultaneous solutions of the system, we have determined the masses and radii of the components : 1.89(M) and 1.65(R) for the primary component; 0.93(M) and 1.23(R) for the secondary component. We estimated effective temperatures of 7030(K) for the primary and 6977(K) for the secondary component. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

New BVR light curves and a photometric analysis of the eclipsing binary star V1430 Aql are presented. The light curves were obtained at the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Observatory in 2004. The light curves are generally those of detached eclipsing binaries, but there are large asymmetries between maxima. New BVR light curves were analysed with an ILOT procedure. Light curve asymmetries of the system were explained in terms of large dark starspots on the primary component. The primary star shows a long‐lived and quasi‐poloidal spot distribution with active longitudes in opposite hemispheres. Absolute parameters of the system were derived. We also discuss the evolution of the system: the components are likely to be pre‐main sequence stars, but a post‐main sequence stage cannot be ruled out. More observations are needed to decide this point. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Some 604 photoelectric BV observations of the eclipsing binary V375 Cas were obtained at Beijing Observatory from August to November 1982. Photometric solution was carried out using the Wilson-Devinney program for the BV light curves. The system is found to be a semidetached binary in which the less massive component fills its Roche lobe and the more massive component nearly does so. It is very similar to RZ Dra. This very interesting system is important for the understanding of the evolution of close binaries.  相似文献

New multi-colour UBVR light curves of the eclipsing binary KR Cyg were obtained in 2005. Photometric solutions were derived using the Wilson-Devinney method. The result shows that KR Cyg is a near-contact binary system with a large effective temperature difference between the components, approximately 5230 K. All the times of minimum light were collected and combined with our observations obtained in 2010 and 2011. Analysing all the times of mid-eclipse, we found for the first time a possible periodic oscillation with an amplitude of 0.001 days and a period of ∼76 years. The periodic oscillation could be explained by the light-time effect due to a presumed third component.  相似文献

UBVRI photometry and spectroscopic observations around the Hα line of the cataclysmic star UX UMa are presented. The analysis of the 9-year photometry shows that the out-of-eclipse brightness of the system and the depth of the eclipse changes in different time scales while the width of the eclipse remains constant. The observed features of the light curves as well as the features of the two-peaked Hα profiles were attributed to an inhomogeneity of the accretion disk. “Spiral arm” model for a fitting of the light curves of UX UMa is proposed. It reproduces well the observational data. The obtained azimuthal extent of the spiral arms is of ∼90° and their light contribution is about 17–30of the total V flux of the disk. The obtained two dense structures at the outer disk covering partially the inner hot disk and the white dwarf at orbital phases ∼0.7 and ∼0.2 is in agreement with the predictions of the theoretical computations.  相似文献

We present results from detailed analyses of new data combined with previously published light curves of ε Cra and ψ Ori. Based on the shape of the secondary minimum of ε CrA we found that the discrepancy between the photometric and spectroscopic mass ratio, although marginal, is statistically significant. We propose a third light as a possible solution and derive the absolute parameters of components. The physical parameters of components of the early-type binary system ψ Ori were also obtained from the light curve modelling. Our solution indicate that ψ Ori is a detached, grazing-eclipse system.  相似文献

We present a newly discovered magnetically active binary system detected by Yunnan-Hong Kong wide field survey, with an orbital period of 0.60286 days. Two color photometry for the system was performed using the 1 m Cassegrain telescope of Yunnan Observatories with its CCD (Charge-Coupled Device) camera. In the observed light curves, there are clearly different light maxima existed in the out-of-eclipse regions. We made spectroscopic observations for the binary system using the 2.4 m telescope and YFOSC (Yunnan Faint Object Spectrograph and Camera) of Lijiang station of Yunnan Observatories, China. The radial velocity curve was derived for primary star of the binary system. The primary star exhibited strong chromospheric activity, which confirms that the distortion of the light curves results from the starspot activity on the primary star. Through analyzing the light curves and RV (Radial Velocity) curve mentioned above by means of the W-D (Wilson-Devinney) code, orbital parameters and starspot configuration of the binary system are obtained. Finally, we have discussed the properties of the binary system, and given the prospects on the future work.  相似文献

New BV photoelectric observations of the W UMa-type system V508 Ophiuchi, made in 1986 at the Kryonerion Astronomical Center of the National Observatory of Athens, Greece, are given. The corresponding mean light curves, as well as those obtained in 1981 at the same station using the same instruments, are analysed using frequency-domain techniques. The geometrical and photometric elements of the system have been found. These are combined with the now available spectroscopic data of the system to get its absolute elements. A general discussion for the light variations between the old and the new observations is made. From the light curve analysis it was found that V508 Oph is an A-type W UMa binary with both of its components to fill their corresponding Roche lobes.  相似文献
