The problem of determination of the radial distribution of the planetary orbits is approached under the assumption that the average present radial sizes of the orbits were already determined when the protoplanetary cloud flattened by initial angular momentum aggregated into a set of concentric rings from which the planetary material was ultimately collected. The object of this argument is to derive a consistent stationary distribution of orbits so that the problem of the non-stationary formation of the orbital rings is not here considered. Under the flattening assumption the 3D Poisson equation is replaced by the 2D Helmholtz equation (inhomogeneous) which is solved by use of an averaging theorem generalization of the well-known averaging theorem for the homogeneous Helmholtz equation. Augmenting the ring potentials obtained by specializing the mass distribution in the disk by a solar potential term and a rotational potential, differentiation leads to a generalization of the Kepler 3D law suitable for the many-body problem of a solar system with circular orbits. In this way a system of transcendental equations involving Bessel functions of the first and second kind are obtained which must be satisfied by the orbital radii. Naturally the restriction to circular orbits represents only an approximation to the orbital determination problem, but considering that no arguments have previously been available for the determination even of circular orbits it would seem to represent an advance.  相似文献

The objective of the present work is to develope explicit analytical expressions for the small amplitude orbits of the infinitesimal mass about the equilibrium points in the elliptic restricted three body problem. To handle this dynamical problem, the Hamiltonian for the elliptic problem is formed with the true anomaly and then with the eccentric anomaly as independent variables. The origin is then transformed to a fixed point and the Hamiltonian is developed up to O(4) in the eccentricity, e, (which plays the role of the small parameter of the problem) of the primaries. The integration of the model problem under consideration is undertaken by means of a perturbation technique based on Lie series developments, which leads to the solution of the canonical equations of motion.  相似文献

We study the dynamical chaos and integrable motion in the planar circular restricted three-body problem and determine the fractal dimension of the spiral strange repeller set of non-escaping orbits at different values of mass ratio of binary bodies and of Jacobi integral of motion. We find that the spiral fractal structure of the Poincaré section leads to a spiral density distribution of particles remaining in the system. We also show that the initial exponential drop of survival probability with time is followed by the algebraic decay related to the universal algebraic statistics of Poincaré recurrences in generic symplectic maps.  相似文献

The Sitnikov problem is one of the most simple cases of the elliptic restricted three body system. A massless body oscillates along a line (z) perpendicular to a plane (x,y) in which two equally massive bodies, called primary masses, perform Keplerian orbits around their common barycentre with a given eccentricity e. The crossing point of the line of motion of the third mass with the plane is equal to the centre of gravity of the entire system. In spite of its simple geometrical structure, the system is nonlinear and explicitly time dependent. It is globally non integrable and therefore represents an interesting application for advanced perturbative methods. In the present work a high order perturbation approach to the problem was performed, by using symbolic algorithms written in Mathematica. Floquet theory was used to derive solutions of the linearized equation up to 17th order in e. In this way precise analytical expressions for the stability of the system were obtained. Then, applying the Courant and Snyder transformation to the nonlinear equation, algebraic solutions of seventh order in z and e were derived using the method of Poincaré–Lindstedt. The enormous amount of necessary computations were performed by extensive use of symbolic programming. We developed automated and highly modularized algorithms in order to master the problem of ordering an increasing number of algebraic terms originating from high order perturbation theory.  相似文献

The main goal of this paper is to give an approximation to initial conditions for ejection-collision orbits with the more massive primary, in the planar elliptic restricted three body problem when the mass parameter µ and the eccentricity e are small enough. The proof is based on a regularization of variables and a perturbation of the two body problem. This work was partially supported by DGICYT grant number PB90-0695.  相似文献

The resonant structure of the restricted three body problem for the Sun- Jupiter asteroid system in the plane is studied, both for a circular and an elliptic orbit of Jupiter. Three typical resonances are studied, the 2 : 1, 3 : 1 and 4 : 1 mean motion resonance of the asteroid with Jupiter. The structure of the phase space is topologically different in these cases. These are typical for all other resonances in the asteroid problem. In each case we start with the unperturbed two-body system Sun-asteroid and we study the continuation of the periodic orbits when the perturbation due to a circular orbit of Jupiter is introduced. Families of periodic orbits of the first and of the second kind are presented. The structure of the phase space on a surface of section is also given. Next, we study the families of periodic orbits of the asteroid in the elliptic restricted problem with the eccentricity of Jupiter as a parameter. These orbits bifurcate from the families of the circular problem. Finally, we compare the above families of periodic orbits with the corresponding families of fixed points of the averaged problem. Different averaged Hamiltonians are considered in each resonance and the range of validity of each model is discussed.  相似文献

We consider the plane restricted elliptic 3 body problem with small mass ratio and small eccentricity and prove the existence of many periodic orbits shadowing chains of collision orbits of the Kepler problem. Such periodic orbits were first studied by Poincaré for the non-restricted 3 body problem. Poincaré called them second species solutions.  相似文献

We study the scattering motion of the planar restricted three‐body problem for small mass parameters μ. We consider the symmetric periodic orbits of this system with μ = 0 that collide with the singularity together with the circular and parabolic solutions of the Kepler problem. These divide the parameter space in a natural way and characterize the main features of the scattering problem for small non‐vanishing μ. Indeed, continuation of these orbits yields the primitive periodic orbits of the system for small μ. For different regions of the parameter space, we present scattering functions and discuss the structure of the chaotic saddle. We show that for μ < μc and any Jacobi integral there exist departures from hyperbolicity due to regions of stable motion in phase space. Numerical bounds for μc are given. Hill stability of a triple system with an inner binary of large mass ratio   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We determine the maximum dimensionless pericentre distance a third body can have to the barycentre of an extreme mass ratio binary, beyond which no exchange or ejection of any of the binary components can occur. We calculate this maximum distance, q '/ a , where q ' is the pericentre of the third mass to the binary barycentre and a is the semimajor axis of the binary, as a function of the critical value of   L 2  E   of the system, where L is the magnitude of the angular momentum vector and E is the total energy of the system. The critical value is obtained by calculating   L 2  E   for the central configuration of the system at the collinear Lagrangian points. In our case we can make approximations for the system when one of the masses is small. We compare the calculated values of the pericentre distance with numerical scattering experiments as a function of the eccentricity of the inner orbit, e , the mutual inclination i and the eccentricity of the outer orbit, e '. These show that the maximum observed value of   q '/ a   is indeed the critical q '/ a , as expected. However, when   e '→1  , the maximum observed value of q '/ a is equal to the critical value calculated when   e '=0  , which is contrary to the theory, which predicts exchange distances several orders of magnitude larger for nearly parabolic orbits. This does not occur because changes in the binding energy of the binary are exponentially small for distant, nearly parabolic encounters.  相似文献

The equations of motion of the planar three-body problem split into two parts, called an external part and an internal part. When the third mass approaches zero, the first part tends to the equations of the Kepler motion of the primaries and the second part to the equations of motion of the restricted problem. We discuss the Hill stability from these equations of motion and the energy integral. In particular, the Jacobi integral for the circular restricted problem is seen as an infinitesimal-mass-order term of the Sundman function in this context.  相似文献

An explicit symplectic integrator is constructed for the problem of a rotating planetary satellite on a Keplerian orbit. The spin vector is fixed perpendicularly to the orbital plane. The integrator is constructed according to the Wisdom-Holman approach: the Hamiltonian is separated in two parts so that one of them is multiplied by a small parameter. The parameter depends on the satellite’s shape or the eccentricity of its orbit. The leading part of the Hamiltonian for small eccentricity orbits is similar to the simple pendulum and hence integrable; the perturbation does not depend on angular momentum which implies a trivial ‘kick’ solution. In spite of the necessity to evaluate elliptic function at each step, the explicit symplectic integrator proves to be quite efficient. Within the context of the restricted problem of three bodies, we wish to show the effects, caused by varying the mass ratio of the primaries and the eccentricity of their orbits, upon periodic orbits of the infinitesimal mass that are numerical continuations of circular orbits in the ordinary problem of two bodies. A recursive-power-series technique is used to integrate numerically the equations of motion as well as the first variational equations to generate a two-parameter family of periodic orbits and to identify the linear stability characteristics thereof. Seven such families (comprised of a total of more than 2000 orbits) with equally spaced mass ratios from 0.0 to 1.0 and eccentricities of the orbits of the primaries in a range 0.0 to 0.6 are investigated. Stable orbits are associated with large distances of the infinitesimal mass from the perturbing primary, with nearly circular motion of the primaries, and, to a slightly lesser extent, with small mass ratios of the primaries.Conversely, unstable orbits for the infinitesimal mass are associated with small distances from the perturbing primary, with highly elliptic orbits of the primaries, and with large mass ratios.  相似文献

Two families of symmetric periodic orbits of the planar, general, three-body problem are presented. The masses of the three bodies include ratios equal to the Sun-Jupiter-Saturn system and the periods of the orbits of Jupiter and Saturn are in a 25 resonance. The (linear) stability of the orbits are studied in relation to eccentricity and mass variations. The generation of the two families of periodic orbits follows a systematic approach and employs (numerical) continuation from periodic orbits of the first and second kind in the circular restricted problem to the elliptic restricted problem and from the circular and elliptic problems to the general problem through bifurcation phenomena relating the three dynamical systems. The approach also provides insight into the evolutionary process of periodic orbits continued from the restricted problems to the general problem.  相似文献

The confining curves in the general three-body problem are studied; the role of the integralc 2 h (angular momentum squared times energy) as bifurcation parameter is established in a very simple way by using symmetries and changes of scale. It is well known (Birkhoff, 1927) that the bifurcations of the level manifolds of the classical integrals occur at the Euler-Lagrange relative equilibrium configurations. For small values of the mass ratio ε=m 3/m 2 both the positions of the collinear equilibrium points and thec 2 h integral are expanded in power series of ε. In this way the relationship is found between the confining curves resulting from thec 2 h integral in the general problem, and the zero velocity curves given by the Jacobi integral in the corresponding restricted problem. For small values of ε the singular confining curves in the general and in the restricted problem are very similar, but they do not correspond to each other: the offset of the two bifurcation values is, in the usual, system of units of the restricted problem, about one half of the eccentricity squared of the orbits of the two larger bodies. This allows the definition of an approximate stability criterion, that applies to the systems with small ε, and quantifies the qualitatively well known destabilizing effect of the eccentricity of the binary on the third body. Because of this destabilizing effect the third body cannot be bounded by any topological criterion based on the classical integrals unless its mass is larger than a minimum value. As an example, the three-body systems formed by the Sun, Jupiter and one of the small planets Mercury, Mars, Pluto or anyone of the asteroids are found to be ‘unstable’, i.e. there is no way of proving, with the classical integrals, that they cannot cross the orbit of Jupiter. This can be reliably checked with the approximate stability criterion, that given for the most important three-body subsystems of the Solar System essentially the same information on ‘stability’ as the full computation of thec 2 h integral and of the bifurcation values.  相似文献

In our previous paper (hereafter, paper I) we presented analytical results on the non-planar motion of a planet around a binary star for the cases of the circular orbits of the components of the binary. We found that the orbital plane of the planet (the plane containing the “unperturbed” elliptical orbit of the planet), in addition to precessing about the angular momentum of the binary, undergoes simultaneously the precession within the orbital plane. We demonstrated that the analytically calculated frequency of this additional precession is not the same as the frequency of the precession of the orbital plane about the angular momentum of the binary, though the frequencies of both precessions are of the same order of magnitude. In the present paper we extend the analytical results from paper I by relaxing the assumption that the binary is circular – by allowing for a relatively small eccentricity ε of the stars orbits in the binary. We obtain an additional, ε-dependent term in the effective potential for the motion of the planet. By analytical calculations we demonstrate that in the particular case of the planar geometry (where the planetary orbit is in the plane of the stars orbits), it leads to an additional contribution to the frequency of the precession of the planetary orbit. We show that this additional, ε-dependent contribution to the precession frequency of the planetary orbit can reach the same order of magnitude as the primary, ε-independent contribution to the precession frequency. Besides, we also obtain analytical results for another type of the non-planar configuration corresponding to the linear oscillatory motion of the planet along the axis of the symmetry of the circular orbits of the stars. We show that as the absolute value of the energy increases, the period of the oscillations decreases.  相似文献

The motion of a satellite around a planet can be studied by the Hill model, which is a modification of the restricted three body problem pertaining to motion of a satellite around a planet. Although the dynamics of the circular Hill model has been extensively studied in the literature, only few results about the dynamics of the elliptic model were known up to now, namely the equations of motion and few unstable families of periodic orbits. In the present study we extend these results by computing a large set of families of periodic orbits and their linear stability and classify them according to their resonance condition. Although most of them are unstable, we were able to find a considerable number of stable ones. By computing appropriate maps of dynamical stability, we study the effect of the planetary eccentricity on the stability of satellite orbits. We see that, even for large values of the planetary eccentricity, regular orbits can be found in the vicinity of stable periodic orbits. The majority of irregular orbits are escape orbits.  相似文献

The present study deals with numerical modeling of the elliptic restricted three-body problem as well as of the perturbed elliptic restricted three-body (Earth-Moon-Satellite) problem by a fourth body (Sun). Two numerical algorithms are established and investigated. The first is based on the method of the series solution of the differential equations and the second is based on a 5th-order Runge-Kutta method. The applications concern the solution of the equations and integrals of motion of the circular and elliptical restricted three-body problem as well as the search for periodic orbits of the natural satellites of the Moon in the Earth-Moon system in both cases in which the Moon describes circular or elliptical orbit around the Earth before the perturbations induced by the Sun. After the introduction of the perturbations in the Earth-Moon-Satellite system the motions of the Moon and the Satellite are studied with the same initial conditions which give periodic orbits for the unperturbed elliptic problem.  相似文献

The smallness parameter of the approximation method is defined in terms of the non-dimensional initial distance between target and chaser satellite. In the case of a circular target orbit, compact analytical expressions are obtained for the interception travel time up to third order. For eccentric target orbits, an explicit result is worked out to first order, and the tools are prepared for numerical evaluation of higher order contributions. The possible transfer orbits are examined within Lambert’s theorem. For an eventual rendezvous it is assumed that the directions of the angular momenta of the two orbits enclose an acute angle. This assumption, together with the property that the travel time should vanish with vanishing initial distance, leads to a condition on the admissible initial positions of the chaser satellite. The condition is worked out explicitly in the general case of an eccentric target orbit and a non-coplanar transfer orbit. The condition is local. However, since during a rendezvous maneuver, the chaser eventually passes through the local space, the condition propagates to non-local initial distances. As to quantitative accuracy, the third order approximation reproduces the elements of Mars, in the historical problem treated by Gauss, to seven decimals accuracy, and in the case of the International Space Station, the method predicts an encounter error of about 12 m for an initial distance of 70 km.  相似文献

This paper studies the asymmetric solutions of the restricted planar problem of three bodies, two of which are finite, moving in circular orbits around their center of masses, while the third is infinitesimal. We explore, numerically, the families of asymmetric simple-periodic orbits which bifurcate from the basic families of symmetric periodic solutions f, g, h, i, l and m, as well as the asymmetric ones associated with the families c, a and b which emanate from the collinear equilibrium points L 1, L 2 and L 3 correspondingly. The evolution of these asymmetric families covering the entire range of the mass parameter of the problem is presented. We found that some symmetric families have only one bifurcating asymmetric family, others have infinity number of asymmetric families associated with them and others have not branching asymmetric families at all, as the mass parameter varies. The network of the symmetric families and the branching asymmetric families from them when the primaries are equal, when the left primary body is three times bigger than the right one and for the Earth–Moon case, is presented. Minimum and maximum values of the mass parameter of the series of critical symmetric periodic orbits are given. In order to avoid the singularity due to binary collisions between the third body and one of the primaries, we regularize the equations of motion of the problem using the Levi-Civita transformations.  相似文献
