Charged particle acceleration is considered by a radiation flux from a star or hot spot in X-ray pulsars. It is shown that for any distance from the star there exists the upper velocity limit up to which a particle can be accelerated by radiation. This critical velocity does not depend on the luminosity of the spot. Near the hot spot surface the critical velocityv0.65c. These results are applied to plasma acceleration inX-ray pulsars. The mechanism is advanced, of -ray generation in the course of plasma accretion, onto a neutron star. It is shown that in the presence of a large magnetic field and high luminosity of the spot the relativistic electron-position avalanche may appear. The optical depth of the electron-positron cloud achieves the value of order one. The X-ray quanta emitted by the spot are scattered by relativistic (2.6) electron-positron pairs and are transformed into -radiation. Hard quanta with energy 1 MeV leave the generation region in the narrow cone 0.25.  相似文献

The sphere of activity which be considered in the test stars of both central galaxies and satellite galaxies is used in three-body model to study the orbital decay of interacting galaxies. It can take account of both semi-restrictedN-body program (Lin and Tremaine, 1983) and multiple three-body algorithm (Borne, 1984) at the same time. The merger time is calculated accurately. The orbital decay of satellite galaxy is characterized. Energy and angular momentum which are carried away by escaping star are computed, too.  相似文献

The catalog of the classical WR stars which have the emission doublet Ovi 3811, 3834 in their optical spectra (the catalog of the WR-Ovi stars) and the results of the spectroscopic investigations of the WR-Ovi stars HD 16523, HD 17638, and HD 192103 are presented. Rapid spectral variability of the emission doublet Ovi 3811, 3834 in the spectra of WR-Ovi stars HD 16523, HD 17638, and of the emission band 3680-3780 Å in the spectra of the WR-Ovi star HD 16523 is observed. It is shown that spectral sub-types of the stars HD 16523 and HD 17638 as estimated from different criteria are uncertain. We argue that the WR-Ovi stars HD 16523 and HD 17638, the optical spectra of which display emission doublet Ovi 3811, 3834, may be considered as WO5 stars. The sub-type WO5 is proposed for the first time. Classification criteria of the WO5 sub-type are represented. The possible contribution of the ions Heii to the emission at 3811 Å and 3834 Å is investigated. Thez-distributions of WR-Ovi stars and WR stars with the probable relativistic companions are found to be similar.  相似文献

For the purpose of analysing light curves of active CB with an accretion disc being at the evolutional phase of an intensive matter exchange between the components a model for light-curve synthesis has been realized where the attention is given to systems like W Ser not sufficiently examined yet with regard that in them the accretion disc is formed around an ordinary star. In the paper one uses the elements presented in the first paper of this series. The model can successfully describe the essential characteristics of the observed light curves due to existence of an accretion disc and a hot spot, as well as those originated in the temperature distribution along the disc radius. The system components are considered in the framework of the nonsynchronous Roche model and the accretion disc of a constant thickness lies in the orbital plane around the star capturing the matter of the neighbouring component.The primary surrounded by the disc is situated relatively well within the Roche oval and its rotation can be significantly nonsynchronous. Near the Lagrange equilibrium pointL 1 flows from the secondary (which fills the Roche limit) the gas stream nourishing the disc. In the zone where the stream touches the lateral side of the disc a hot spot is formed.The proposed model enables estimating of the basic orbital and physical parameters of active type W Ser CB (Djuraevi, 1991) on the basis of photometric measurements by applying the inverse-problem method.  相似文献

The phenomenon of pulsars is considered as the evidence for existence of black holes in neutron and quark stars. Within the framework of the degenerated star model with black-hole interior the existence of millisecond pulsars withP<0.5 ms and single pulsars with negative derivative of the period were predicted. The anisotropic accretion of neutron (or quark) star matter on to a rotating black hole leads to the formation of directed radiation (projector), which makes heat spots at surface (volcanos), that explains the nature of pulsating radiation and the complicated structure of impulses. This model gives both the mechanism of self-acceleration of degenerated star rotation (mass accretion on to the internal black hole) producing millisecond pulsars and also the mechanism of significant deceleration of rotation (ejection of neutral mass through a volcanic crater), leading to long-periodic X-ray pulsars. The black hole produces high densities and temperatures of the degenerated star mass that transforms gradually the neutron star into quark star (Cygnus X-3).  相似文献

We present new measurements of the distribution of energy in the continuum for eight Be stars in the optical region (3200-7600 Å). The effective temperatures of these stars have been estimated from their observed fluxes. It is found that, in general, pole-on stars show near-infrared excess emission. It is interesting to note that the Balmer jumps for stars having an infrared excess are systematically smaller than for those lacking the infrared excess.Variability of ultraviolet and infrared excess emissions in these stars has been discussed. The stars 59 Cyg, 66 Cyg, 28 CMa, and 27 CMa show large variations in their continuum at ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) regions.  相似文献

A model of the galaxy is constructed and evolved in which the integrated influence of stellar and supernova nucleosynthesis on the composition of the interstellar gas is traced numerically. Our detailed assumptions concerning the character of the matter released from evolving stars and supernovae are guided by the results of recent stellar evolutionary calculations and hydrodynamic studies of supernova events. Stars of main sequence mass in the range 4M8M are assumed to give rise to supernova events, leaving remnants we identify with neutron stars and pulsars and forming both the carbon-to-iron nuclei and ther-process heavy elements in the explosive ejection of the core material. For more massive stars, we assume the core implosion will result in the formation of a Schwarzschild singularity, that is, a black hole or collapsar. The straightforward assumptions (1) that the gas content of the galaxy decreases exponentially with time to its present level of 5% and (2) that the luminosity function characteristic of young clusters and the solar neighborhood is appropriate throughout galactic history, lead to the prediction that 20% of the unevolved stars of approximately one solar mass (M ) in the galaxy today should have metal compositionsZ0.1Z . As Schmidt has argued from similar reasoning, this is quite inconsistent with current observations; an early generation dominated by more massive stars—which would by now have evolved—is suggested by this difficulty. Many of these massive stars, according to our assumptions, will end their lives as collapsed black hole remnants. It is difficult to visualize an epoch of massive star formation in the collapsing gas cloud which formed our galaxy which would enrich the gas rapidly enough to account for the level of heavy element abundances in halo population stars; we have therefore proposed a stage of star formation which is entirely pregalactic in character. We suggest that the Jeans' length-sized initial condensations in the expanding universe discussed by Peebles and Dicke may provide the appropriate setting for this first generation of stars. Guided by these considerations, and by the need for a substantial quantity of unseen mass to bind our local group of galaxies, we have constructed a model of the galaxy in which this violent early phase of massive star formation produces both (1) approximately 25% of the level of heavy elements observed in the solar system and (2) an enormous unseen mass in the form of black holes. The implications of our model for other features of the galaxy, including supernova nucleosynthesis, the cosmic ray production of the light elements, and cosmochronology, are discussed in detail.  相似文献

We intend to point out that existing evolutionary scenario for the genesis of the binary radio pulsars like PSR 0655+64 (P1 d) and 1913+16 (P8 hr) having short orbital periods and relatively massive companion (>0.5M *) is inconsistent in that it does not allow for a prolonged phase of angular momentum transfer. We propose here a modified evolutionary scenario where there is such a prolonged phase of angular momentum transfer from a low mass helium star to the neutron star mediated by an accretion disk along the so-called caseB evolutionary track.  相似文献

Phase changing variations between Be and shell stars are considered from the viewpoint of the formation of shell absorption lines in the envelopes of these stars. Typical shell stars are characterized by large optical depths of the envelopes in the H line (H) in a range of 2000 to 5000, whereas the envelopes of typical Be stars are optically thinner with the values of (H)100. This infers that the envelopes of Be stars should be fully expanded as compared to those of shell stars, so as to reduce the optical thickness. Spectral formation in shell stars shows that their envelopes are well condensed near the equatorial planes forming disks or rings. In this paper a simple model of transformation from a disk envelope of shell star to a spherical envelope of Be star is considered to show the relative volume and volume emission measures of the envelopes in both phases. The phase change variations observed in Pleione and in other Be and shell stars are discussed based on this simple consideration. Some implications of the present model in the linear polarization, IR-excess, UV spectra and the radiation field of the envelope are also discussed briefly.  相似文献

Nine low and one high resolution IUE (LWR) spectrograms for the short period subgroup RS CVn-like stars have been studied, particularly in connection with the MgII 2800 Å feature. Clear emission contributions can be easily seen for some of these stars, while all nine of them appear to have the feature filled by emission to some extent.If surface flux in emission is considered as a measure of activity (and not just equivalent width) the short period subgroup is as active as the main group. The activity is not as obvious because of the generally higher photospheric temperatures.Correlations of such activity with angular velocity and the scale of irregular photometric distortions (starspots) are present, though the sample size is low.  相似文献

The twelfth list of faint late M and carbon type stars detected on the plates of the First Byurakan Spectral Survey in zone -3° +1° covering about 1070 sq. degrees is presented. From 86 detected stars, 57 are newly discovered objects: they are 3 R-type carbon stars, 2 carbon star candidates and 52 M-type stars. Among the latter 34 (28 PSC + 6 FSC) are unclassified IRAS sources. Equatorial coordinates, spectral classes, color indices, and red magnitudes determined from the Palomar E-charts are presented.  相似文献

Main results of computations of evolution for massive close binaries (10M +9.4M , 16M +15M , 32M +30M , 64M +60M ) up to oxygen exhaustion in the core are described. Mass exchange starting in core hydrogen, shell hydrogen and core helium burning stages was studied. Computations were performed assuming both the Ledoux and Schwarzschild stability criteria for semiconvection. The influence of UFI-neutrino emission on evolution of close binaries was investigated. The results obtained allow to outline the following evolutionary chain: two detached Main-Sequence stars — mass exchange — Wolf-Rayet star or blue supergiant plus main sequence star — explosion of the initially more massive star appearing as a supernova event — collapsed or neutron star plus Main-Sequence star, that may be observed as a runaway star — mass exchange leading to X-rays emission — collapsed or neutron star plus WR-star or blue supergiant — second explosion of supernova that preferentially disrupts the system and gives birth to two single high spatial velocity pulsars.Numerical estimates concerning the number and properties of WR-stars, pulsars and X-ray sources are presented. The results are in favour of the existence of UFI-neutrino and of the Ledoux criterion for describing semiconvection. Properties of several well-known X-ray sources and the binary pulsar are discussed on base of evolutionary chain of close binaries.  相似文献

A model of -bursts is considered that treats the flares of neutron stars as a result of convectiveoscillation instability associated with the stars having strong internal magnetic fields ( 1013 to 1014 G). In the context of this model only sufficiently old (104 to 107 yr), drastically cooled-down neutron stars may be sources of -bursts. The paper shows that major characteristics of a -burster in the Supernova N 49 remnant (energy release during burst up to 1044 erg, age 104 yr, burst-to-burst interval (I to 3)×106s; rotation period P=8 s) may be explained under the assumption that the mass of the neutron star is about 0.14M · while its mean magnetic field strength is 1.5×1014 G abd 1013 G within the star and on its surface, respectively. The observational tests of the model discussed conclude the paper.  相似文献

The spectrum of the peculiar O9 star HD 93521 is studied and compared with those of the standard stars 10 Lac and AE Aur. Several possibilities are examined which might explain the high galactic latitude of this star, corresponding toz>750 pc and its slight helium excess. It is suggested that HD 93521 is a runaway binary system composed of the O9 star plus a neutron star left over from a supernova explosion.  相似文献

Pre-Main-Sequence contracting objects, post-Main-Sequence expanding stars and mass-losing components of semi-detached systems all occupy more or less the same region in the conventional H-R-diagram. We make a transformation to variables (logL) and (logT e), where is the difference between the observed quantity, logL or logT e, and the value of that quantity which a star of the same mass would have on the empirical Main Sequence. Part I gives a survey of the drastic revision of cosmic plasma physics which is precipitated by the exploration of the magnetosphere throughin situ measurements. The pseudo-plasma formalism, which until now has almost completely dominated theoretical astrophysics, must be replaced by an experimentally based approach involving the introduction of a number of neglected plasma phenomena, such as electric double layers, critical velocity, and pinch effect. The general belief that star light is the main ionizer is shown to be doubtful; hydromagnetic conversion of gravitational and kinetic energy may often be much more important.In Part II the revised plasma physics is applied to dark clouds and star formation. Magnetic fields do not necessarily counteract the contraction of a cloud; they may just as well pinch the cloud. Magnetic compression may be the main mechanism for forming interstellar clouds and keeping them together.Part III treats the formation of stars in a dusty cosmic plasma cloud. Star formation is due to an instability, but it is very unlikely that it has anything to do with the Jeans instability. A reasonable mechanism is that the sedimentation of dust (including solid bodies of different size) is triggering off a gravitationally assisted accretion. A stellesimal accretion analogous to the planetesimal accretion leads to the formation of a star surrounded by a very low density hollow in the cloud. Matter falling in from the cloud towards the star is the raw material for the formation of planets and satellites.The study of the evolution of a dark cloud leads to a scenario of planet formation which is reconcilable with the results obtained from studies based on solar system data. This means that the new approach to cosmical plasma physics discussed in Part I logically leads to a consistent picture of the evolution of dark clouds and the formation of solar systems.  相似文献

The observations of the BATSE instrument on the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory show that the spatial distribution of -ray burst sources is isotropic but radially non-uniform. As is well known, the spectral features, the time histories and the X-ray tails present in some -ray bursts suggest that they may arise from galactic neutron stars. But, low velocity neutron stars born in the Galactic disk would concentrate toward the galactic plane and center, and could not fit the BATSE results. However, the high velocity neutron stars with velocity 1000 km s–1 may escape from the Galactic gravitational field and form a nearly isotropic distribution. Here we calculate the three statistical values of V/V max, sin2 b and cos as functions of the intensitiesC max/C min and find that they could be fitted by the distribution of high velocity neutron stars under the assumption that the high velocity neutron stars should turn on as -ray burst sources only after some time (perhaps after they have ceased to be radio pulsars). Our calculation shows that the statistical value of cos is more sensitive than sin2 b to the angular distribution of high velocity neutron stars, i.e. the deviation of cos from 0 is more readily detected than the deviation of sin2 b from 1/3, so we expect that with the increasing sensitivity of instrument and the more exact value of cos , it is possible to determine whether this high velocity neutron star model is correct.
