It is demonstrated that the kinematic peculiarity of the early Sab galaxy NGC 4826 can easily be understood in terms of the Abelian Higgs (AH) model of spiral galaxies. A cylindrically symmetric AH vorto-source (-sink) with a disk-to-bulge ratio > 1 is discussed and the distributions of the diagonal components of the corresponding stress-energy tensorT are presented. It is argued that the sign-changing componentT could account for the existence of twocounter-rotating gas disks whilenegative values ofT imply inward gas motions as observed in the outer and transition regions of the galaxy.  相似文献

A maximal spectrum of gravitational radiation from sources outside our galaxy is calculated. The sources are galaxies, quasars and events that occur in the early history of the universe. The major contribution is from galaxies whose effect extends over the frequency region 10–810+4Hz, peaking at 10–110 Hz, with a spectral flux of 10 erg cm–2, s–1. The main processes of gravitational radiation in the galaxies are stellar collapse into a black hole and dying binary systems. In the region 10–4104 Hz the background spectrum is well above the detection levels of currently proposed detectors. FromMinimal considerations of this spectrum it is determined that the density of gravitational radiation is 10–39g cm–3. This background spectrum is sensitive to galactic evolution and especially sensitive to the upper mass limits and mass distribution of stars in galactic models. Therefore, the spectrum could provide information about galactic evolution complementary to that obtained by electromagnetic investigations.  相似文献

Current observational constraints on anisotropies in the CMB (Cosmic Microwave Background) and on the clustering of galaxies have considerably narrowed the range of acceptable models for galaxy formation. Observations of these anisotropies on intermediate and large angular scales provide the best constraint on the amplitude of very long wavelength density fluctuations. We present results from the Tenerife CMB fluctuation experiment (a Jodrell Bank-IAC collaboration) at intermediate angular scales (6 deg) which taken together with recently reported upper limits to fluctuations on small (arc min) angular scales constrain severely the spectral index of initial fluctuations in baryon dominated model universes. Constraints on adiabatic fluctuations in hot and cold dark matter models are also briefly discussed.  相似文献

The structure of rotating magnetic polytropes is considered in Roche approximation. Investigation of the influence of poloidal as well as toroidal magnetic fields on the conditions of the beginning of matter outflow due to rotational instability is carried out. The influence of the turbulent convection and twisting of magnetic force-lines on the time of smoothing of differential rotation is considered. The estimate of the magneto-turbulence energy generated by differential rotation is presented. Both maximum possible energy output and duration of the quasi-statical evolution phase up to the appearance of hydrodynamic instability due to the effects of general relativity are calculated for supermassive magnetic polytropes of index three with uniform or differential rotation. The radius-mass relation is obtained for supermassive differentially-rotating magnetic polytropes referring to the longest part of the quasi-statistical evolution stage; some consequences are pointed out, including the period-luminosity relation.The evolution of the considered models of supermassive rotating magnetic polytropes with different character of rotation and different geometry of a magnetic field is discussed.The results obtained are summarized in the last section.

The following three mechanisms of generation of gamma-ray bursts at advanced phases of stellar evolution are considered; (1) gamma-ray bursts as a result of absorption of neutrino propagating through the envelope of a collapsing star, (2) gamma-ray burst due to thermal radiation of external layers of a compact star (R=0.01–0.1R ) heated by powerful shock wave, and (3) gamma-ray burst as a consequence of possible ejection of matter from neutron star at some active phases of its evolution. In the case (1) the gamma-ray flux at the top of the Earth's atmosphere is about 10–4 (0.1 MeV photons) cm–2, if a collapsing star is at Galactic distance (10 kpc). It is considerably less than observed one. The observations of such gamma-bursts however would be an important supplement to the direct detection of neutrino radiation from collapsing stars. In the case (2) external layers of a star are heated up to 108 K. As a result we have a short pulse of thermal radiation with total energy of the order of 1042–43 erg. The main fraction of the radiation is in the X-ray ( 25 keV), about 10% of total energy being radiated in gamma-ray ( 0.1 MeV). The energy of such a burst is sufficient for explaining observed gamma-bursts provided the supernova outburst probably takes place in our Galaxy and as a result we have some trouble with explanation of observed frequency and spectra of gammabursts. In the case (3) ejection from neutron star of chemically nonequilibrium matter results in the intensive gamma-radiation in consequence of superheavy nuclei fission followed by beta-decays and radiative captures of free neutrons. The ejection of matter from neutron stars may be connected with observed jumps of pulsar's periods. The total ejected mass ( 1021 g) can be evaluated from increase of kinetic energy ( 2×1041 erg.) of Crab nebula filaments. The resulting theoretical energy of gammabursts is of the order of 1038–39 erg. It is in accordance with observations provided the mean distance of gamma-ray sources is about 0.25 kpc. Contrary to the supernova-outburst mechanism in this case we have probably no troubles with frequency and spectra of gamma-bursts. Among the three mechanisms considered above ejection of matter from neutron stars seems to be a more suitable one for explanation of observations.

The conditions of stability of the constant libration solutions of the general three-bodies problem obtained by E. Routh through investigation of the linearized perturbed motion equations are analised. To the values of the masses of the three bodies which satisfy boundary conditions of the region of stability the locus of all corresponding centers of masses is laid down in accordance with. It occurs that this locus is a circle, its centre coinciding with the geometric centre of the trianglem 1, m2, m3 and its radius being a function of exponent in the law of attraction of the bodies. The motion may be stable only if the centre of masses of the bodies lies outside the circle mentioned above. In the case of the Newtonian law of attraction the radius of this circle equals 0,943 |rmax| where |rmax| is a distance of the vertex from the centre of the trianglem 1, m2, m3. Thus stability is possible (if it is generally possible) inside a very small region in this case.

Star-like objects are found in Seyfert galaxies Markarian 290, Markarian 298, NGC 1275, and NGC 7469, being connected with the structure peculiarities of the galaxies. The absolute magnitudes of these objects are –16 m M–19 m . It has been supposed that these star formations must stimulate the instability in the disk of the galaxy followed by the matter fall toward the centre of the galaxy. The results of the computations of the chemical evolution for a galaxy cluster are presented. The matter exchange between galaxies and intergalactic medium is taken into account. Two dependences of star formation rate on time are considered: (i) monotonously decreasing dependence characteristic of elliptical galaxies, (ii) dependence having two peaks associated with creation of spiral galaxy subsystems, with suppression of star formation at the period between maxima. It is assumed that galactic ejection is due to explosions of II-type supernova with massesm5M , and that the accretion on to a galaxy depends but weakly on the time. By comparing the obtained results with total combination of available observations, it is established that the rate of gaseous exchange between a galaxy and intergalactic medium should be rather large: 0.03M gal Gyr–1. Besides, the activity of each type of galaxy leads to an approximately equal enrichment of intergalactic gas by new elements synthesized in the stars. The existence of a large accretion on to the Galaxy leads to the decrease of primordial deuterium abundance by a factor of no more than 2 during the galaxy evolution time. It enables us to assume that the standard Big Bang model with baryon density parameter b 0.1 may be considered as true.  相似文献

In this article it is argued that galactic magnetic fields are generated in the earliest moments of galaxy collapse. Our model proposes that provided, even if only briefly, a supermassive star is formed early on in the galaxy formation process, this star can produce a strong centrally localized magnetic field which may act as the seed field from which a galactic field can grow. In order to substantiate this model, detailed numerical calculations will be required.  相似文献

By combining two two-dimensional subspaces, closed into themselves due to curvature, it is possible to create a model of three-dimensional space of the same properties. If the Universe is a space of this type, its effect is that of a monstrous lens. Close objects are observed to diminish according to the normal law of perspective; however, the remote galaxies are seen to be very highly magnified.The apparent angular size2 of a galaxy is more than the size1 in flat space according to relation:2 =1 cosec , where is the angular distance from the observer to the galaxy. The diameter2 d of a galaxy in curved space must be in the same relation to a diameter1 d with no curvature of space:2 d=1 d cosec . The apparent angular size2 and diameter2 d are distorted shapes in consequence of an optical illusion caused by the spatial curvature.It is necessary to distribute the multitude of galaxies into two parts in accordance with their location on the close or reverse hemihypersphere of the Universe. The minimum of apparent angular size2 of a galaxy of diameter1 d is at the equatorial zone.The most likely candidates for location in the reverse hemi-hypersphere are cD's of apparent supergiant sizes due, probably, to the curvature of space. The existence of supergiant sizes of galaxies is the second indirect proof, besides superluminal velocities, that the Universe is closed into itself through curvature. The third indirect evidence, i.e., inductive confirmation of the same fact, is the superposition of galaxies which need not inevitably be a new alternative to the present theories of collisions, cannibalism, merger, etc.The fourth indirect proof of the positive curvature of the Universe is the occurrence of background radiation, because that must vanish in hyperbolic space irrespective of its origin. The gravitational lens effect acquires another theoretical form, as usual, in the case of remote galaxies, because it is impossible to distinguish between gravitator and lensing image.  相似文献

By computer simulations, the dynamical evolution of plane triple systems of gaseous protogalaxies and galaxies with zero initial velocities has been studied. Inside the regionD of initial configurations some subregions have been revealed corresponding to a coalescence of protogalaxies on the first double approach. The average spin momenta of mergers are approximately equal to those typical of disk galaxies. In triple galaxies, a coalescence on the first double approach does not occur. The presence of significant hidden mass makes the approaches wider and prevents the coalescence of bodies in the systems without a central object. A central pair in a group of galaxies aids to coalescence. Also the change during time of the virial coefficient has been investigated.  相似文献

It is found that the relationship between the potential energy and the moment of the inertia independent of the radial mass distribution obtained earlier for the sphere also holds in the case of the ellipsoidal mass distribution for the ellipsoid of rotation.The possibility of application of the energy virial relations for solution of the evolutionary problems of the gravitating gaseous sphere, with the help of the relationship found earlier, is demonstrated. The physical conditions on the gaseous sphere boundary are introduced. The existence of two branches of evolution, the proton one and the electron one, is established. The problem of the gravitational contraction velocity during sphere evolution is solved. The relationship between the boundary temperature and the gaseous sphere radius as well as between the luminosity and the body mass is obtained. Some limiting relations for the final stage of the gaseous sphere evolution are found.
