Dark maps, which are also called dark modes or dark themes, have gained popularity, but their usability has not been experimentally evaluated. This article presents a user experiment that uses eye-tracking to assess the usability of dark and light maps. Here, two widely used web maps, Google Maps and Gaode Maps, are selected at the street and city scales. Eight map-use tasks are designed and cover four operations (identify, compare, rank, and associate) with space-alone and attributes-in-space distinctions. Four pairs of map-use tasks (light-during-the-day, dark-during-the-day, dark-at-night, and light-at-night) are examined from three aspects: effectiveness, efficiency, and cognitive load. The results provide preliminary evidence that the light-during-the-day performance is generally the best in most cases, followed by the dark-at-night performance; the dark-during-the-day performance is the worst in all cases, followed by the light-at-night performance, which suggests that aligning the map design with the environment (i.e., lighting environment) is critical for better communication. The light-during-the-day performance is the best for space-alone tasks, and the dark-at-night performance is the best for attributes-in-space tasks. Our investigation also indicates that dark maps are far less favored in practice, which suggests that users' preference for using the dark mode of public-facing web maps needs to be shaped. Since light and dark maps are associated with photopic and scotopic vision, respectively, the results indicate the need for future studies on how to leverage scotopic vision to design better dark maps.  相似文献

In this paper, we quantitatively discuss the impact of the current uncertainties in the even zonal harmonic coefficients J l of the Newtonian part of the terrestrial gravitational potential on the measurement of the general relativistic Lense–Thirring effect. We use a suitable linear combination of the nodes Ω of the laser-ranged LAGEOS and LAGEOS-II satellites. The one-sigma systematic error due to mismodelling of the J l coefficients ranges from ~ 4% for the EIGENGRACE02S gravity field model to ~ 9% for the GGM02S model. Another important source of systematic error of gravitational origin is represented by the secular variations j l of the even zonal harmonics. While the relativistic and J l signals are linear in time, the shift due to j l is quadratic. We quantitatively assess their impact on the measurement of the Lense–Thirring effect with numerical simulations obtaining a 10−20% one-sigma total error over 11 years for EIGEN-GRACE02S. Ciufolini and Pavlis (Nature 431:958–960, 2004) claim a total error of 5% at the one-sigma level.  相似文献

Applying remote sensing techniques to develop the retrieval models and further to obtain the spatiotemporal information of water quality parameters is necessary for understanding, managing, and protecting lake ecosystems. This study aimed to calibrate and validate the retrieval models for estimating the concentrations of chlorophyll a (CCHL), suspended particulate matter (CSPM), and dissolved organic carbon (CDOC) with the in situ hyperspectral measurements in Poyang Lake, China in 2010 and 2011. The model calibration and validation results indicated that: (1) for CCHL retrieval, significantly strong and moderate correlations existed between the measured and estimated values (with the correlation coefficient r = 0.92 and r = 0.76) using the exponential model and the three-band model, respectively, with biased estimation observed for the exponential model; (2) for retrieving CSPM, there was a strong correlation between the measured and estimated values (r = 0.95) using the exponential model; and (3) no significant correlation between measured and estimated CDOC values was found with our developed models. More work is needed to allow the water quality of Poyang Lake to be accurately and steadily estimated, especially for CCHL and CDOC.  相似文献

In this study, field-based spectroradiometer measurements were carried out in 72 plots with eight rice varieties along with three nitrogen applications. The critical wavelengths for the studied rice varieties at which the effects of nitrogen applications on spectral reflectance response were found significant, are ρ550, ρ560, ρ655, ρ750, ρ755, ρ780, ρ810, ρ840, ρ900, ρ920, ρ1000, ρ1010, ρ1020. Using the critical wavelengths, three derived vegetation indices were compared with established indices (VI and GRI) sensitive to nitrogen. VI1 and VI2 were efficiently able to discriminate the level of nitrogen treatments for most of the rice genotypes whereas VI and GRI were unable to find significant difference in nitrogen treatments for rice genotypes except two. Furthermore, nitrogen difference plots exhibited that the paddy crop growth has started earlier with N3 (150 kg/ha) than N2 (100 kg/ha) application. Quantitative analysis of rice genotypes revealed that VI2 can be applied functionally for the assessment of nitrogen stress in rice agriculture system.  相似文献

Abstract

I. The present writer has been trying for the past two years to get reasonably easy expressions for the (tt) correction and the scale factor in the Lambert NO.2 Projection. He succeeded in obtaining a formula for (tt) in terms of eastings and northings, but, like the author of the articles on “Grid Bearings and Distances on the Conical Orthomorphic Projection” which were published recently in this Review, he came to the conclusion that any such formula is too unwieldy for ordinary use. He then tried to get an expression for (tt) in terms of latitude and longitude, and has now obtained one by purely empirical methods which seems to work in practice. No proof of this formula is offered, or is available at present, as this is a matter which the writer is content to leave to others with greater mathematical interests and attainments than he possesses.  相似文献

Ross-Li核驱动模型热点参数化及其校正—以POLDER数据为例   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
半经验、核驱动二向性反射分布函数(BRDF)模型是多角度遥感领域的一个重要模型,其热点效应在应用BRDF反演其它地表参数时有重要作用。本研究针对树冠内部叶片的间隙对热点的影响,对几何光学核的重叠函数进行热点效应的改进,并利用POLDER多角度观测数据集,对改进热点效应后的不同核函数组合模型的最优热点参数进行了确定。通过最小均方根误差(RMSE)筛选出最优热点参数,进一步分析不同模型对热点参数的敏感性和RMSE随热点参数的变化情况。结果表明:(1)该热点参数化方法可用于Ross-Li核驱动模型不同核函数组合的情况,热点校正后的模型相对于原模型很好地改善了对热点反射率的拟合能力;(2)热点参数最优值在几何光学核为LSRC (LiSparseRChen)与LDRC (LiDenseRChen)组成的模型中出现明显差别,C1在LDRC模型中的值远小于LSRC模型,主要是因为LDRC核函数自身较好考虑了树冠尺度下的热点效应,所以该热点参数改进方法起到的补偿作用较小;(3)总体上,同一模型的C1参数比C2参数对热点的变化更敏感。本研究为Ross-Li核驱动模型的热点效应进一步校正及热点参数的取值范围提供了依据,对Ross-Li模型的推广有重要意义,改进热点效应后的模型可用于未来国产多角度卫星的数据处理流程中,以获取加精确的地物热点反射率信息。  相似文献

Modern models of the Earth's gravity field are developed in the IERS (International Earth Rotation Service) terrestrial reference frame. In this frame the mean values for gravity coefficients of the second degree and first order, C 21(IERS) and S 21(IERS), by the current IERS Conventions are recommended to be calculated by using the observed polar motion parameters. Here, it is proved that the formulae presently employed by the IERS Conventions to obtain these coefficients are insufficient to ensure their values as given by the same source. The relevant error of the normalized mean values for C 21(IERS) and S 21(IERS) is 3×10−12, far above the adopted cutoff (10−13) for variations of these coefficients. Such an error in C 21 and S 21 can produce non-modeled perturbations in motion prediction of certain artificial Earth satellites of a magnitude comparable to the accuracy of current tracking measurements. Abstract

The paper discusses the need of a high-level query language to allow analysts, geographers and, in general, non-programmers to easily cross-analyze multi-source VGI created by means of apps, crowd-sourced data from social networks and authoritative geo-referenced data, usually represented as JSON data sets (nowadays, the de facto standard for data exported by social networks). Since an easy to use high-level language for querying and manipulating collections of possibly geo-tagged JSON objects is still unavailable, we propose a truly declarative language, named J-CO-QL, that is based on a well-defined execution model. A plug-in for a GIS permits to visualize geo-tagged data sets stored in a NoSQL database such as MongoDB; furthermore, the same plug-in can be used to write and execute J-CO-QL queries on those databases. The paper introduces the language by exemplifying its operators within a real study case, the aim of which is to understand the mobility of people in the neighborhood of Bergamo city. Cross-analysis of data about transportation networks and VGI from travelers is performed, by means of J-CO-QL language, capable to manipulate and transform, combine and join possibly geo-tagged JSON objects, in order to produce new possibly geo-tagged JSON objects satisfying users’ needs.  相似文献

The short wavelength geoid undulations, caused by topography, amount to several decimeters in mountainous areas. Up to now these effects are computed by means of digital terrain models in a grid of 100–500m. However, for many countries these data are not yet available or their collection is too expensive. This problem can be overcome by considering the special behaviour of the gravity potential along mountain slopes. It is shown that 90 per cent of the topographic effects are represented by a simple summation formula, based on the average height differences and distances between valleys and ridges along the geoid profiles, δN=[30.H.D.+16.(H−H′).D] in mm/km, (error<10%), whereH, H′, D are estimated in a map to the nearest 0.2km. The formula is valid for asymmetric sides of valleys (H, H′) and can easily be corrected for special shapes. It can be used for topographic refinement of low resolution geoids and for astrogeodetic projects. The “slope method” was tested in two alpine areas (heights up to 3800m, astrogeodetic deflection points every 170km 2) and resulted in a geoid accuracy of ±3cm. In first order triangulation networks (astro points every 1000km 2) or for gravimetric deflections the accuracy is about 10cm per 30km. Since a map scale of 1∶500.000 is sufficient, the method is suitable for developing countries, too.  相似文献

Seasonal and latitude dependent corrections to the gravity and height anomalies are developed in order to account for the neglect of the atmospheric masses outside the geold, when using Stokes’ equation. It is shown that the atmospheric correction to gravity at sea level is almost constant, equal to0.871 mgals with a variation of2 μ gals whereas the height anomaly correction varies between −0.1 cm and −1.3 cm. Further, when the combined latitudinal/seasonal dependence is neglected in the atmospheric corrections, the maximum error introduced is of the order of40 μ gals for the gravity corrections and0.7 cm for the height anomaly corrections.  相似文献

At present, the modelling of terrain edges from discrete data clouds {x,y,z} is one of the ‘hot topics’ in the processing of laser scanning data. This paper proposes two different methods for the three-dimensional modelling of terrain edges. Common to both methods is the idea to describe the terrain edge as the intersection line of two surface patches zi=z(x,y), i=1,2. The first method is based on numerical integration of a differential equation describing the intersection line. The second method uses the snakes algorithm for the identification of the terrain edge. Both methods are tested for synthetic and real-world data examples, which shows that they are suitable for the practical extraction of edges from laser scanning data.  相似文献

This article investigates the performance of MERIS reduced resolution data to monitor water quality parameters in the Berau estuary waters, Indonesia. Total suspended matter (TSM), Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) concentration and diffuse attenuation coefficient (Kd ) were derived from MERIS data using three different algorithms for coastal waters: standard global processor (MERIS L2), C2R and FUB. The outcomes were compared to in situ measurements collected in 2007. MERIS data processed with C2R gave the best retrieval of Chl-a, while MERIS L2 performed the best for TSM retrieval, but large deviations from in situ data were observed, pointing at inversion problems over these tropical waters for all standard processors. Nevertheless, MERIS can be of use for monitoring equatorial coastal waters like the Berau estuary and reef system. Applying a Kd (490) local algorithm to the MERIS RR data over the study area showed a sufficient good correlation to the in situ measurements (R 2 = 0.77).  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Urbanization in China is closely connected with ambient particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5). However, the potential for altering PM2.5 through the urban landscape characteristics is uncertain. In this study, we analyzed the urban PM2.5 pollution situation for 2014–2016 and investigated the impact of landscape factors on urban PM2.5 in China at the city level. All the prefecture-level cities were stratified by urban population size into small (<500,000), medium (500,000–1,000,000), and large (>1,000,000), and the other second-level administrative cities were assigned as ‘other’ cities. The multivariate regression model including both urban landscape factors and social-economic variables explained 70.0%, 32.8%, 19.2%, and 12.4% of the arithmetic mean PM2.5 concentration (AMC-PM2.5) for the other, small, medium, and large cities, respectively. With regard to the configuration of land cover, agricultural activity is a major contributor of PM2.5 pollution, for which the explanatory power ranged from 7.6% (for the large cities) to 64% (for the other cities). In addition, grassland aggregation also has a limited but negative effect on urban PM2.5 pollution, despite the negligible effect on dry deposition. Overall, these findings likely reflect the interaction between urban air quality and urbanization, and will have implications for air quality control strategies.  相似文献

GOCE gravitational gradients along the orbit   总被引:6,自引:3,他引:3  
GOCE is ESA’s gravity field mission and the first satellite ever that measures gravitational gradients in space, that is, the second spatial derivatives of the Earth’s gravitational potential. The goal is to determine the Earth’s mean gravitational field with unprecedented accuracy at spatial resolutions down to 100 km. GOCE carries a gravity gradiometer that allows deriving the gravitational gradients with very high precision to achieve this goal. There are two types of GOCE Level 2 gravitational gradients (GGs) along the orbit: the gravitational gradients in the gradiometer reference frame (GRF) and the gravitational gradients in the local north oriented frame (LNOF) derived from the GGs in the GRF by point-wise rotation. Because the V XX , V YY , V ZZ and V XZ are much more accurate than V XY and V YZ , and because the error of the accurate GGs increases for low frequencies, the rotation requires that part of the measured GG signal is replaced by model signal. However, the actual quality of the gradients in GRF and LNOF needs to be assessed. We analysed the outliers in the GGs, validated the GGs in the GRF using independent gravity field information and compared their assessed error with the requirements. In addition, we compared the GGs in the LNOF with state-of-the-art global gravity field models and determined the model contribution to the rotated GGs. We found that the percentage of detected outliers is below 0.1% for all GGs, and external gravity data confirm that the GG scale factors do not differ from one down to the 10−3 level. Furthermore, we found that the error of V XX and V YY is approximately at the level of the requirement on the gravitational gradient trace, whereas the V ZZ error is a factor of 2–3 above the requirement for higher frequencies. We show that the model contribution in the rotated GGs is 2–35% dependent on the gravitational gradient. Finally, we found that GOCE gravitational gradients and gradients derived from EIGEN-5C and EGM2008 are consistent over the oceans, but that over the continents the consistency may be less, especially in areas with poor terrestrial gravity data. All in all, our analyses show that the quality of the GOCE gravitational gradients is good and that with this type of data valuable new gravity field information is obtained.  相似文献

针对毫米波雷达处理数据的实际需要,应用离散偶极子近似法DDA,获得了非球形冰晶的后向散射及衰减截面并进行了参数化,并主要基于细化的冰云模型,假设冰晶粒子谱为Γ分布,通过模拟取样各1330次(代表1330种粒子分布),分别计算得到了W波段(94 GHz)与Ka波段(35 GHz)毫米波雷达探测的冰云衰减系数k及雷达反射率因子Ze,而且利用数值模拟的方法,建立了k-Ze关系的具体表达式。计算表明,非球形和非瑞利散射对W波段毫米波雷达衰减的影响较大,而且在同样滴谱分布条件下,W波段毫米波雷达的衰减比Ka波段毫米波雷达的大几倍,此外细化的冰云模型对k-Ze关系具有影响。本研究对中纬度非降水性冰云的毫米波雷达的衰减订正具有参考价值,并对中国的毫米波雷达应用具有借鉴作用。  相似文献

This paper presents a technique for ingesting ground- and space-based dual-frequency GPS observations into a semi-empirical global electron density model. The NeQuick-2 model is used as the basis for describing the global electron density distribution. This model is mainly driven by the F2 ionosphere layer parameters (i.e. the electron density, N m F2, and the height, h m F2 of the F2 peak), which, in the absence of directly measured values, are computed from the ITU-R database (ITU-R 1997). This database was established using observations collected from 1954 to 1958 by a network of around 150 ionospheric sounders with uneven global coverage. It allows computing monthly median values of N m F2 and h m F2 (intra-month variations are averaged), for low and high solar activity. For intermediate solar activity a linear interpolation must be performed. Ground-based GNSS observations from a global network of ~350 receivers are pre-processed in order to retrieve slant total electron content (sTEC) information, and space-based GPS observations (radio occultation data from the FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC constellation) are pre-processed to retrieve electron density (ED) information. Both, sTEC and ED are ingested into the NeQuick-2 model in order to adapt N m F2 and h m F2, and reduce simultaneously both, the observed minus computed sTEC and ED differences. The first experimental results presented in this paper suggest that the data ingestion technique is self consistent and able to reduce the observed minus computed sTEC and ED differences to ~25–30% of the values computed from the ITU-R database. Although sTEC and ED are both derived from GPS observations, independent algorithm and models are used to compute their values from ground-based GPS observations and space-based FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC radio occultations. This fact encourages us to pursue this research with the aim to improve the results presented here and assess their accuracy in a reliable way.  相似文献

Distances between demand points and potential sites for implementing facilities are essential inputs to location-allocation models. Computing actual road distances for a given problem can be quite burdensome since it involves digitalizing a network, while approximating these distances by l p -norms, using for instance a geographical information system, is much easier. We may then wonder how sensitive the solutions of a location-allocation model are to the choice of a particular metric. In this paper, simulations are performed on a lattice of 225 points using the k-median problem. Systematic changes in p and in the orientation of the orthogonal reference axes are used. Reference spectra of terrestrial targets are usually collected using field spectro-radiometers for mineral abundance mapping and target detection. These spectra often have noise that masks characteristic absorption and reflection features and affects the efficiency of material mapping. This work aims at obtaining an empirical technique for reduction of high-frequency noise from field spectra. The proposed noise correction technique uses a ‘normalized’ measure Rn , where Rn  = (Ln  ? Fn )/Ln for each band (n) calculated from field and laboratory spectra of test material, with Fn and Ln being the depth of the absorption feature in field and laboratory spectra, respectively. On the basis of the assumption of the constancy of this ratio in neighbouring bands, an empirical algorithm that approximates the ratio Rn of a noisy band to the corrected ratio of an adjacent band is used to obtain the noise-corrected field spectra. The classification accuracy increases significantly when noise reduced field spectra are used as reference spectra.  相似文献
