When trains move through the tunnels, vibrations are generated and transmitted to the surrounding ground causing vibrations and noises in adjacent structures. The vibrations and noises can sometimes reach such a high level that can hardly be tolerated by the neighboring residents especially in densely populated urban environments. Consequently, the problem of train-induced vibrations has received increasing attention from both engineers and researchers. This paper presents the application of the scaled boundary finite-element method (SBFEM) to the 3D analysis of ground vibrations induced by underground trains. The media around the tunnel is simulated by the SBFEM. The train track is modeled using the finite-element method. 3D examples in both frequency and time domains are addressed to validate the accuracy and applicability of the method.  相似文献

针对日益严重的轨道交通引起的环境振动问题,通过对京―广铁路线附近某小区内地面的竖向、横向振动速度和加速度的现场测试,研究了运行列车引起的地面振动及其传播规律。由试验分析可知,列车引起的地面振动速度、加速度振级均随着列车速度的提高和轴重的增加而增大。速度每小时提高10 km时,速度振级和加速度振级均增大约3 dB;车速相同的货车比客车引起的速度振级竖向大10 dB左右,横向大5~15 dB左右;加速度振级竖向大 12 dB,横向大8 dB。钢轨接缝附近地面的振动比无接缝附近的地面振动大,速度振级大2~6 dB。振动随着距振源距离的增大而逐渐减小,竖向振级的衰减过程表现出一定的波动性;横向振级的衰减随距离增大单调减小。  相似文献

A number of factors influence the generation, propagation and intensity of ground vibrations. However, there are conflicting opinions with regard to the influence of the blast size on the intensity of ground vibrations. This paper discusses the experiments conducted in an opencast coal mine in India and a simulation study carried out to establish the influence of total charge in a blast on the intensity of ground vibrations. Studies clearly indicate that the total explosive charge in a blast has insignificant influence on the intensity of ground vibrations for distances between 100 m and 3000 m.  相似文献

This study concerns the correlation between burden and blast-induced vibrations in open-pit mines. For this purpose, two different mines were studied. In these mines, the vibrations caused by explosions at burdens having widths ranging from 3 to 14 m were measured from various distances. From the results, it was found for these cases that burden width has a significant impact on vibrations. Consequently, it was proven that vibrations decrease as burden increases.  相似文献

Stress-induced proton disorder in hydrous ringwoodite   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
We have measured in situ high-pressure IR absorption of synthetic hydrous (MgxFe1−x)2SiO4 ringwoodites (x = 0.00 to 0.61) up to a maximum pressure of 30 GPa. In our study, we combined the megabar-type diamond-anvil cell (DAC) with conventional and synchrotron FTIR spectroscopy. The high-pressure measurements were performed in three different pressure-transmitting environments: (1) CsI powder, (2) cryogenically loaded liquid argon, and (3) cryogenically loaded liquid argon annealed at 8.6 GPa at temperature of 120°C before further pressure increase. Between 10 and 12 GPa, all the samples loaded with methods (1) and (2), independent on composition, showed a sudden disappearance of the prominent OH-stretching feature and simultaneous discontinuities and/or changes in the pressure dependence of lattice vibrations compared with spectra of samples loaded with method (3). In experiments performed with method (3) the OH-stretching vibrations as well as lattice vibrations could be observed up to 30 GPa and their pressure behavior (dν/dP) can well be described by linear fits. Molecular vibrations, such as the OH stretching, are sensitive to non-hydrostatic conditions, especially in minerals with highly symmetric structures. We interpret the disappearance of the OH bands using methods (1) and (2) as a stress-induced proton disordering in hydrous ringwoodite. Our results confirm that argon pressure medium produces strongly non-hydrostatic conditions comparable to CsI or KBr, if it is not thermally annealed at pressures above 8 GPa. Our results suggest that the transition observed in hydrous Mg-ringwoodite end member is not present in compositions containing Fe. By comparing the behavior of samples compressed in different environments, we suggest that sudden disappearance of the OH-stretching band in hydrous ringwoodite could be driven by deterioration of the quasi-hydrostatic stress condition instead of a pressure-induced effect.  相似文献

We present in this study results obtained with a laser-ablation coupled with both a quadrupole and a multi-collector ICPMS. The simultaneous in situ Sr/Ca and 87Sr/86Sr measurements along growth profiles in enamel allows the concomitant diet and migration patterns in mammals to be reconstructed. Aliquots of the powdered international standard NIST “SRM1400 Bone Ash” with certified Sr and Ca contents, was sintered at high pressure and temperature and was adopted as the reference material for external reproducibility and calibration of the results. A total of 145 coupled elemental and isotopic measurements of herbivores enamel from the Kruger National Park, South Africa, gives intra-tooth Sr/Ca and 87Sr/86Sr variations that are well larger than external reproducibility. Sr/Ca profiles systematically decrease from the dentine-enamel junction to the outer enamel whereas 87Sr/86Sr profiles exhibit variable patterns. Using a simple geometric model of hypsodont teeth growth, we demonstrate that a continuous recording of the 87Sr/86Sr variations can be reconstructed in the tooth length axis. This suggests that the mobility of a mammal can be reconstructed over a period of more than a year with a resolution of a ten of days, by sampling enamel along growth profiles. Our geometric model of hypsodont teeth growth predicts that an optimal distance between two successive profiles is equal to the enamel thickness. However, this model does not apply to the Sr/Ca signal which is likely to be altered during the enamel maturation stage due to differential maturation processes along enamel thickness. Here, the observed constant decreases of the Sr/Ca ratios in the ungulates of Kruger National Park suggests that they did not changed of diet, while some of them were migrating.  相似文献

This article presents a discussion of one of the first large-scale community based rural land claims in South Africa. The Makuleke land claim was highly contentious, as it involved more than 20 stakeholders: government departments, local communities and their chiefs, NGOs, mining companies, commissions and task teams, and individuals; all pursuing vested and conflicting interests. [According to the former Chief of the Defence Force, General George Meiring, “the whole area (was) riddled with claims. Many of the claims came from people who visited (the area) once in a blue moon” (WildNet Africa, 1997. News File, May 9)]. Moreover, the greater part of the claim lies within the Kruger National Park, thus, drawing statutory environmental conservation policies into the ambit of land reform. The analysis presented here juxtaposes historical material and trajectories of restitution in order to shed light on the contestation between national goals and community interests.  相似文献

Comprehensive hazard mitigation involves (1) understanding natural systems, (2) assessment of interactions within and between social systems and the built environment, and (3) understanding geo-spatial processes. To achieve this, local emergency managers must recognize variability in vulnerable populations exposed to hazards and develop place-based emergency plans accordingly. In this study, we assess whether cities in Los Angeles County are subject to disproportionally greater earthquake losses modeled from a M7.8 earthquake on the San Andreas fault. Furthermore, we analyze whether the variation in demographic and socioeconomic characteristics across cities is associated with the earthquake losses. We were able to explain 23.2?% of variance in economic losses by looking at the percentage of minority residents, income, and renter residents in a city [F(3,84)?=?8.47; p?<?.001]. Cities with primarily minority residents had greater economic losses when compared to cities with primarily White residents (b?=?1.01; p?<?.001). When looking at the association between demographic predictors and potential casualty rate, the percentage of Hispanic residents was positively associated with the potential casualty rate. We argue that knowledge of the relationship between earthquake hazard and the demographic characteristics of people in the area at risk is essential to mitigate the local impact from earthquakes. In other words, we apply social vulnerability assessment as part of a comprehensive risk management framework to accelerate recovery after an event. Local policy makers and the private sector can use this approach to gain a better understanding of a city??s social vulnerability and adapt their preparedness efforts accordingly.  相似文献

 The natural environment of an environmental conflict site in Incheon, Korea was assessed with a focus on the hydrogeological environment. Residents had made claims against a company because of health problems, including skin tumors. More specifically, the residents suspected that their drinking groundwater had been contaminated by glass fibers which had caused the health problems. Air, soil, and groundwater samples were analyzed to estimate whether environmental pollution could have caused the problems claimed by the residents. No specific evidence was found from this study to support the groundwater contamination by glass fibers, but groundwater contamination by leaked fuel oils was confirmed in the course of evaluating the glass fiber problem. Enhanced demand for coal and minerals in the country has forced mine operators for mass production through large opencast mines. Heavy blasting and a large amount of explosive use have led to increased environmental problems, which may have potential harm and causes a disturbance. Ground vibrations generated due to blasting operations in mines and quarries are a very important environmental aspect. It is clear that a small amount of total explosive energy is being utilized in blasting for breakage of rock mass, while the rest is being wasted. The amount of energy which is wasted causes various environmental issues such as ground vibrations, air overpressure, and fly rock. Ground vibrations caused by blasting cannot be eliminated entirely, yet they can be minimized as far as possible through a suitable blasting methodology. A considerable amount of work has been done to identify ground vibrations and assess the blast performance regarding the intensity of ground vibrations, i.e., peak particle velocity and frequency spectrum. However, not much research has done into reducing the seismic energy wasted during blasting leading to ground vibrations. In this paper, the blast-induced ground vibrations in three orthogonal directions, i.e., transverse, vertical, and longitudinal, were recorded at different distances using seismographs. An attempt has been made for the estimation of the percentage of explosive energy dissipated in the form of seismic energy with electronic and non-electric (NONEL) initiation system. signal processing techniques with the help of DADiSP software is used to study the same.  相似文献

Residents of 401 mobile homes in Georgia, Mississippi, Illinois, and Oklahoma were surveyed after they heard a tornado warning. Most residents (69%) did not seek shelter during the warning. Half of those who sought shelter went to the frame house of a friend, neighbor, or relative, and 25% of those sought shelter in a basement or underground shelter. Some of the places where residents sought shelter were of dubious quality, such as their own mobile home, another mobile home, or in an out-building. Twenty-one percent of mobile home residents believed that they had a basement or underground shelter available as shelter during a tornado warning, and about half of those said they would drive to the shelter. Residents said they would drive if the shelter was more than 200 m away. Fifteen percent actually had a basement or underground shelter suitable as shelter within 200 m of their mobile home, but only 43% of the residents would use those shelters. The most common reason cited for not using the shelters was that they did not know the people who lived there. Likewise, a frame house or other sturdy building was within 200 m of 58% of the mobile homes, but only 35% of the residents stated they would use those houses for shelter. Thirty-one percent of mobile home residents had a ditch that was at least 0.5 m deep within 200 m of the mobile home. However, 44% of these ditches had utility lines overhead, 23% had water in them, and 20% had trees overhead. The limited tornado shelter options among mobile home residents in the United States needs to be incorporated into safety instructions so that residents without nearby shelter are allowed to drive to safer shelter.  相似文献

Tel Aviv is a highly ethnic city in which ethnicity is deeply embedded in people’s perceptions of their social milieus. Shapira, as one of the most heterogeneous neighborhoods in Tel Aviv, supplies a unique demonstration of the inadequacy of the Chicago model, which assumes the emergence of homogeneous neighborhoods. The study shows that ethnicity is exercised as a major force in determining social life in Shapira. Interactive segregation indices reveal that residents of Shapira tend to prefer intra-ethnic social networks although two-thirds of them maintain inter-ethnic networks as well. Despite this, residential and activity spaces are highly heterogeneous. Residential spaces are heterogeneous on all scales from residents’ immediate surroundings to the block and the neighborhood as a whole. In most buildings one may find neighbors from two or three different ethnic groups with only non-Jewish residents excluded from publicly owned buildings. Most residents perform large part of their everyday life outside the neighborhoods in ethnically heterogeneous surroundings, but nonetheless in choosing their more meaningful partners for social networks they choose them from their ethnic groups. The fact that residents tend to perform a large part of their activities out of their neighborhood, and to live in heterogeneous surroundings in social categories that are perceived by them salient to their daily life, does not undermine the relevance of the neighborhood as a socially constituted entity in the urban field. People organize and act in order to improve life conditions in the neighborhood, they feel sense of attachment to the neighborhood and they develop some local social networks in the neighborhood.  相似文献

This paper is part of a larger community health study aimed at delineating the determinants of health in Sarnia. The paper specifically investigates Sarnia residents’ daily lived experiences, perceptions of and responses to living within the St. Clair River “Area of Concern” (AOC) as designated by the federal government based on the hypothesis that relatively high levels of environmental pollution in the region are negatively influencing human health. Results from in-depth interviews (N = 27) show that residents of Sarnia are conflicted by the elevation of awareness about environmental health threats by being labelled within an AOC. Residents use their emotional and sensual experiences to adopt appropriate coping strategies to live within a contaminated community. In contextualizing their everyday lived realities, residents argued that living in an AOC demands personal acceptance of the conditions in Sarnia and awareness of “bad air days” to cope with pollution exposure. Yet, residents were not willing to abandon Sarnia because of their cultural, social, and economical attachments to the place they call home. These findings suggest the need for local health policies that incorporate local concerns and perceptions of how environmental pollution affects people’s experiences and well-being. There is a necessity to involve community members as central participants in the process of policy making.  相似文献

近年来在安徽马鞍山地区所在的绿松石矿体附近,相继发现一种绿色、半透明的磷铝石,部分达到宝石级别。本文采用电子探针、X射线粉晶衍射仪、扫描电镜、傅里叶变换红外光谱仪、紫外可见光谱仪等测试技术,对该地区磷铝石的化学成分、矿物成分、微观结构和光谱特征进行对比验证和综合分析,研究其水的赋存形式,进而对磷铝石的呈色机制作了深入探讨。电子探针分析显示该地区磷铝石的化学成分主要以Al、P元素组成,含微量的Fe、V元素。X射线粉晶衍射与红外吸收光谱分析表明主要矿物为磷铝石,基本不含有其他杂质矿物;磷铝石是一种水合磷酸盐矿物,含有结晶水以及少量结构水的矿物,且结晶水与结构水多与Al3+(Fe3+)相结合的形式存在。偏光显微镜和扫描电镜观察显示磷铝石整体以鳞片状集合体产出,微观上多以短柱状及板片状堆积,单个晶体显示斜方晶系结晶生长习性。紫外可见吸收光谱中639 nm处吸收谱峰由Fe3+与V3+联合所致,300、423、864 nm处吸收峰由Fe3+所致,说明Fe3+与V3+的共同作用是马鞍山地区磷铝石呈现绿色的主要原因。本研究对于认识该类磷铝石的宝石矿物学性质以及颜色成因具有一定意义。  相似文献

In recent years, geoparks (a geoheritage effort to protect geological features) have been vigorously promoted in China and abroad. The evaluation of a geopark is important for geopark development. However, current evaluation methods focus on geoheritage and their values, and often ignore residents’ situations, even though community participation is essential to the sustainable development of geoparks. In this paper, the Mt. Huaying Grand Canyon Geological Park was selected as a study area to evaluate resident’s perceptions of the park. Perception impact factors were selected from the perspective of the park residents. Quantitative evaluation models, based on data from questionnaires, were created using the hierarchy process model and expert evaluation method. The results showed that the following factors influenced residents’ perceptions, listed from the most significant to the least: residents’ understanding of geoheritage, participation level in commercial activities, participation level in planning decisions, satisfaction level regarding benefit distribution and level of participation willingness. It was found that residents’ level of understanding of geoheritage and their participation level in planning decisions were the main reasons for poorer perceptions of geoheritage. The keys to improving residents’ perceptions of geoheritage are to change the management system, implement people-centered policies and to establish a government-led management mode that encourages community participation and involves private business contracts.  相似文献

The single-crystal polarized Raman spectra of four natural silicate garnets with compositions close to end-members almandine, grossular, andradite, and uvarovite, and two synthetic end-members spessartine and pyrope, were measured, along with the powder spectra of synthetic pyrope-grossular and almandine-spessartine solid solutions. Mode assignments were made based on a comparison of the different end-member garnet spectra and, in the case of pyrope, based on measurements made on additional crystals synthesized with 26Mg. A general order of mode frequencies, i.e. R(SiO4)>T(metal cation)>T(SiO4), is observed, which should also hold for most orthosilicates. The main factors controlling the changes in mode frequencies as a function of composition are intracrystalline pressure (i.e. oxygen-oxygen repulsion) for the internal SiO4-vibrational modes and kinematic coupling of vibrations for the external modes. Low frequency vibrations of the X-site cations reflect their weak bonding and dynamic disorder in the large dodecahedral site, especially in the case of pyrope. Two mode behavior is observed for X-site cation vibrations along the pyrope-grossular binary, but not along the almandine-spessartine join. Well problems, water shortages, local flooding, and induced sinkholes have been periodic problems for residents in east-central Hillsborough County, Florida. This agricultural area has experienced dramatic short-term water-level declines in the Floridan aquifer from seasonal groundwater withdrawals. The sudden declines in the potentiometric surface have been caused from intense irrigation pumpage, primarily for frost and freeze protection and fruit setting. Citrus and strawberry crops are protected from occasional freezes by the application of warm groundwater to maintain minimum soil temperatures of 32°F(0°C). Local residents with inadequately constructed wells lose their source of water when the potentiometric surface is lowered to depths where their wells do not function. Some residents have lost their water supply for a week or more, and many have incurred damage to their pumps. The drawdown of the potentiometric surface in some areas has induced sinkholes causing property damage for some residents and concern for others. In addition, the high application rates for frost and freeze irrigation have created run-off problems resulting in local flooding to some residents. Fortunately, there has been no damage to resident homes from the flooding or sinkholes. This report summarizes the area's hydrogeology, and the consequences of heavy freeze irrigation. A finite-difference, numerical model is used to quantify the regional impacts to the potentiometric surface of the Floridan aquifer from estimated irrigation pumpage. Management recommendations for alleviating the problems are also discussed in the report.  相似文献

The vibrations of existing service tunnels induced by blast-excavation of adjacent tunnels have attracted much attention from both academics and engineers during recent decades in China. The blasting vibration velocity (BVV) is the most widely used controlling index for in situ monitoring and safety assessment of existing lining structures. Although numerous in situ tests and simulations had been carried out to investigate blast-induced vibrations of existing tunnels due to excavation of new tunnels (mostly by bench excavation method), research on the overall dynamical response of existing service tunnels in terms of not only BVV but also stress/strain seemed limited for new tunnels excavated by the full-section blasting method. In this paper, the impacts of blast-induced vibrations from a new tunnel on an existing railway tunnel in Xinjiang, China were comprehensively investigated by using laboratory tests, in situ monitoring and numerical simulations. The measured data from laboratory tests and in situ monitoring were used to determine the parameters needed for numerical simulations, and were compared with the calculated results. Based on the results from in situ monitoring and numerical simulations, which were consistent with each other, the original blasting design and corresponding parameters were adjusted to reduce the maximum BVV, which proved to be effective and safe. The effect of both the static stress before blasting vibrations and the dynamic stress induced by blasting on the total stresses in the existing tunnel lining is also discussed. The methods and related results presented could be applied in projects with similar ground and distance between old and new tunnels if the new tunnel is to be excavated by the full-section blasting method.  相似文献

Self-protective behavior by residents of flood-prone urban areas can reduce monetary flood damage by 80%, and reduce the need for public risk management. But, research on the determinants of private households’ prevention of damage by natural hazards is rare, especially in Germany. To answer the question of why some people take precautionary action while others do not, a socio-psychological model based on Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) is developed, explaining private precautionary damage prevention by residents’ perceptions of previous flood experience, risk of future floods, reliability of public flood protection, the efficacy and costs of self-protective behavior, their perceived ability to perform these actions, and non-protective responses like wishful thinking. The validity of the proposed model is explored by means of representative quantitative telephone surveys and regression analyses, and compared with a socio-economic model (including residents’ age, gender, income, school degree and being owner or tenant). Participants were 157 residents of flood-prone homes in Cologne, Germany, a city that has traditionally been subject to minor and major flood events. Results of the study show the explanatory power of the socio-psychological model, with important implications for public risk communication efforts. To motivate residents in flood-prone areas to take their share in damage prevention, it is essential to communicate not only the risk of flooding and its potential consequences, but also the possibility, effectiveness and cost of private precautionary measures.  相似文献
