In the past decade, the most authoritative catalogues of Chinese earthquakes and the most popular with seismologists in China are the following:(1) Gu Gongxu, 1983, Catalogue of Chinese Earthquakes;(2) Min Ziqun, 1988, Concise Catalogue of Chinese Earthquakes;(3) Xie Yusuou, 1989, Catalogue of Chinese Earthquakes (M≥ 4.7) from 1900-1980 with Uniform Magnitudes; and(4) Min Ziqun, 1995, Catalogue of Chinese Historical Strong Earthquakes. Earthquakes that occurred before 1900 are mainly documented in historical records.Since 1950s, more recent earthquakes were documented in two major compilations of historical records finished in 1956 and 1983-1987. Separately this effort resulted in two chronicles: two volumes for the first one and five volumes for the second one. The magnitudes are converted from the maximum intensity. These magnitudes, by convention, are connected with surface wave magnitudes. However, it is clear that they do not have any strict seismological definition.The period of 1900-1962 documen  相似文献

A total of 48 earthquakes with M_s ≥5.0 occurred in China in 1994 (29 on the Chinese mainland and offshore, 19 in Taiwan). Among them 9 earthquakes were of M_s ≥6.0 (4 on the mainland and offshore, 5 in Taiwan). The M_s 7.3 earthquake that occurred in Taiwan Straits on September 16 was the greatest one offshore, which was generally included in the mainland area according to the previous statistics. A total of 16 strong earthquakes with Ms≥7.0 occurred in the world in 2002 according to the determination of the Chinese Seismic Station Network (Table 1 ). The two strongest earthquakes were Sumatra earthquake (Ms7.8, November 2) and Alaska earthquake ( Ms 7.8 November 4) . Fig. 1 is the distribution of strong earthquakes that occurred in 2002. In order to analyze the mechanism of continental strong shocks from the angle of crustal movement using the data of repeated geodetic survey, this paper has proposed a physical method; it analyzes the mechanism of density change due to the occurrence of strong shocks by use of the physical quantity that reflects the time change of crustal density. ( 1 ) The general theory of the time change of density in the earth‘ s interior and the theory of the time change of single layer density have been introduced, and an algorithm of stepwise iteration has been proposed; (2) The effect of the change of single layer density caused by fault dislocation has been analyzed in brief; (3) The characteristics of the time change of crustal density in the south of the seismogenic region before the 1996 Lijiang earthquake with ML = 7.0 have been studied; (4) The precursor model or causal mechanism of strong shocks possibly existing in the time change of crustal density has been investigated preliminarily.  相似文献

The combination of Stokes formula and an Earth Gravity Model (EGM) for geoid determination has become a standard procedure. However, the way of modifying Stokes formula vary from author to author, and numerous methods of modification exist. Most methods are deterministic, with the primary goal of reducing the truncation bias committed by limiting the area of Stokes integration around the computation point, but there are also some stochastic methods with the explicit goal to reduce the global mean square error of the geoid height estimator stemming from the truncation bias as well as the random errors of the EGM and the gravity data. The latter estimators are thus, at least from a theoretical point of view, optimal in a global mean sense, but in a local sense they may be far from optimality.Here we take advantage of the error variance-covariance matrices of the EGM and the terrestrial gravity data to derive the modification parameters of Stokes kernel in a local least-squares sense. The solution is given for the unbiased type of modification of Stokes formula of Sjöberg (1991).  相似文献
